  • In this video I am building my budget DIY racing rig and explaining some of the features that I have added to the rig over the past few months. I tried to keep the cost of this rig build to a minimum but still have it look good and be sturdy as well as functional. The frame of the rig is built from wood which was later painted black and the floor was carpeted to finish it off.

That Bissell is an excellent little extractor. I bought one for automotive detailing but I've done my rigs and furniture with it.
Here in the states, that's a couple hundred dollar rig. Lumber is expensive the last few years. Looks extremely well done. I don't see any need to change to a "proper" setup. You seem to have some decent carpentry skills as is and you built it yourself.
As far as tools go, the jig saw is really the only "less than ideal" tool for what you were trying to do but it's not entirely the wrong tool for the job. Sure, there's better options but it's not like you were driving nails with a cast iron skillet or anything.

Hey do you have the measurements for this I would like to build this myself, great video

Hey dodgey. The base is 1500mm x 700mm, unfortunately I don't have the rest of the measurements. I do think measurements would vary from one person to the next though. The seat on mine is on rails so it's adjustable but for things like steering wheel position and pedal position it will vary a fair bit from one person to the next. The base can be narrower than mine if space is a concern, I just went a bit wider as it feels less cramped. Great thing with something like this is you can do whatever you want with it. A good starting point though will be building the base and getting the seat mounted and then find a comfortable height and position for everything else. Most important is to make sure you have enough clearance for your knees under the steering wheel platform especially if you like a lower wheel position like myself. Hope this helps and hope your rig build goes well. It's well worth the effort. 😁👍🏻
