Very good & informative video. So I can download a photo of myself & my passport from my photo gallery to the application. I do plan on having a professional mug shot taken of myself and taking a picture of my passport page using my phone or iPad.
Going to Thailand and Vietnam in March. I wish Vietnam was just as easy as Thailand. I went online and this one site was charging $99 for each visa. I’m glad i discovered your video. Thanks!
Thanks Travis good info - might I add the process may be a bit arbitrary as my wife and I submitted the e-visa with identical residency info ie: hotel name plus city (Danang) my application was approved immediately but my wife was denied requesting additional information so we added the exact full address of hotel and resubmitted. Very interesting process to say the least - probably reviewed and determined by different individuals in immigration department.
I just got my 3-month tourist visa approved. It cost it me $51.54, multi-entry. I already visited Vietnam 1.5 years ago on a 30 day visa. Not sure if that played a role, but the approval for the 3 month visa was super easy. All done online. Same website as the 30 day visa, and as mentioned in this video. I applied on a Sunday online, got a message on Tuesday that my name did not match on the passport, so I corrected my middle name (there is no middle name - you have to know if it's part of Given name or Surname ), and it was fully approved by Thursday without further questions.
Thank you bud, That is a lot time-saving and great tips on applying VISA for me. Even I'm Vietnamese but i visited only once when i was little. so technically, this is first time i'm apply by my own as foreigner to Vietnamese Gov lol.
Thailand is WAY more difficult if you wanna stay longer than 30 days. You have to spend a WHOLE day at immigration and pay 60$ for 30 extra days. Vietnam is all online and you get 90 days for 50$ - no waiting in lines all day. But you’re correct, 30 days or less is easier in Thailand.
Thanks a lot.Very good information with minute details especially on the point of entry/ exit and on the validity of the visa approval, duration of stay which ends on the validity date mentioned on the e Visa unlike other countries where the duration of stay is counted from the date of entry as long as the tourist enters before the validity date of visa.I have lost 5 days out of 30 days due to arriving late.😞 Was in a dilemma whether a new application has to be made after leaving Vietnam or can be done while the current visa is active and while still remaining in Vietnam- you have answered it and now going to try my luck by applying a 90 days one. 🙂
Make sure to use the new website for the 90 day visa. It is linked in the comments. I need to update this video on a few points. So much has changed in just a few weeks. Good luck to you!
I submitted my Visa application on 25/06 at 09:00am and am still awaiting a response. It is still in “processing”. It’s currently 28/06 14:15pm. I fly out on the 5th and am stressing!
It should come 5 pm VN time on 28th, if not then 5pm July 1st. If you don't hear by then or it comes back with any problem send me an email I'll connect you with an agent who can get 1 day express visa for 50$
I couldn't find your visa run video. I wanted to ask about a scenario though. If my 3 month tourist visa ends on September 15th, and I want to do a border run, when should I apply for another 3 month tourist visa (can I apply before the first one ends)? And when I do apply for it, should the first day of this new visa be September 15th so that I can just come right back, or should it be a day or two after that? Thank you so much! Great content!
You can apply for the new visa until you have left the country. Then you would need to wait 3-4 days for the new visa to process. If you want to come back the same day you need to pay a visa agent to get it processed express. Send me an email if you want me to connect you with the agent.
@@TravisTravelsVN Thanks, I will probably email you at a later point since I am planning ahead. My first visa would actually end in November since I won’t be arriving in Vietnam until September 1st. Did you mean to say that I can not apply for a new visa until I have left the country? If so, thanks so much I didn’t know that..
Hi Travis - thanks for the great information you share. Is there any annual day limitations which you can stay as tourist? Or in other words, can I stay the whole year in Vietnam (by getting each 3 months another e-visa, through exit/re-entry)?
Hi Thank you for this video. Some websites still say that they require travel insurances that has covid coverage. Is this still a thing? Thank you man!
Hey question about the any living relative residing in vietnam. Do they care about this question? I have a lot of aunt and uncle who live there and I don’t want to take the time to fill out there address and all that
I have been to Vietnam many times from uk and normally stay 90 days I have always found that the number of days on your visa 30 or 90 the number of days is always 30 or 90 and as long as you enter within the start and finish day of you visa you do not loose days if you arrive after the start date
Hi Peter, have you been to Vietnam recently? Lately, many rules are changing. Now when you are issued a visa it has a set start and end date. So if you enter the country later than the start date, the end date is still the same. So in that case you would have less than 30 days. With the new change to 90 days maybe it will be different.
Hello I was in Vietnam in April and when I entered the country in Hanoi airport they definatly added30 days onto the day I entered and not from when my visa start date was. Which was 5 days before I arrived in Hanoi I think the authorities in Hanoi are better than some of the other entry points I have used Ho chi min being the worst
You don't lose days if you arrive later? If you arrive 10 days after your visa start date then you will only have 80 days remaining on your visa. The end date on your visa is set in stone and does not automatically get extended if you start your visa later than you requested.
@@TravisTravelsVN thank you so much for the reply. I applied today and leave next Saturday. I’m hoping I’m not too late, how long does it take to process or get an express visa? If they were to get denied, I will definitely message you. Thank you again man. 🥹
I think you apply for visa like normal if you plan on disembarking and entering the country. You may need multi entry for $50 usd. Message the cruise and double check. They may try to charge a big fee to do it for you, just pay the $50 online and do it yourself.
Great video man. Cambodia is closer to Saigon than Laos. Also, one question many people have is whether you can do another evisa application for the new 3 month visa. There is some talk that there is going to be a period of time after the visa expires during which no new application will be accepted. But we will have to wait until after tomorrow.
Cheers for the comment. You're right about Cambodia thanks for the correction. Im planning on applying for my 3 month tomorrow if everything goes well. We all have to wait and see.
Thanks for your reply. Would you be so kind as to keep us up to date on your 3 month visa application? In particular, the question as to whether they are "renewable" (not technically correct because it would be a new application for a new visa but I think you get what I am saying)?
I seriously doubt Vietnam will limit renewal of the 90 day visas. I renewed my 30 day visa 6 times with no problems so I don't forsee Vietnam making the 90 day visa renewal a problem. Secondly, Vietnam wants more tourists. They added the 90 day for that main reason; however, if COVID becomes a problem again then restrictions could develop. I recommend travelers to always check the Vietnam government website for updates AND USA State Department's website for Vietnam will also have updates. Don't rely on RUclips or travel agents or the airlines for up to date information. Use RUclips as a secondary resource but not a primary. Remember to allow 1-2 weeks renew your Evisa later and don't wait until 3-5 days out in case there are unforseen problems.
Great video. I believe you may of covered this in the clip but I just want to be sure. I’m hoping to travel to Vietnam soon and I was hoping to spend some time there as I work remotely. 1.) Once I obtain a 3 month visa can I do a visa turn or what is my best option to the the optimal amount of time for my trip?
Hi Travis I want to visit Hanoi and Danang , so if I arrive in Hanoi, stay 4 days and then fly to Danang , and stay 4 days before returning to Hanoi does it still count as single entry?
How far advance can you apply for your visa? I am flying to Philippines first in 3 to 4 months and then to Vietnam a month later and plaining on taking bus to Cambodia. Any advice would be help full.
You can apply well in advance. As soon as you know the exact dates you might as well apply. You should know where you plan to enter vietnam. After that you can take the bus to Cambodia no problem. The exit point is not important. Hope this was helpful.
So I was granted visa. At the application, I put Da nang as my port of entry but I’m changing my destination to Ho chi mhin city. Do I need to apply for another visa and make these changes? Or it doesn’t matter?
I am from the USA and plan to go to Thailand/Vietnam I plan to stay in Thailand for 3 days first then travel to Vietnam for 4days and then back to Thailand is their anything I need to know about entering Vietnam coming from USA as my entry point to Vietnam is from Thailand? I appreciate it
You'll need a visa for the 4 days in Vietnam but you don't have to worry anything about entry point. Just use your best guess if youre not sure where you'll enter
My daughter and I are going to Vietnam in October. After completing and paying for the e-visa, we both received an email message saying our names were incorrect. We are American, and typically only type our first names when asked for "given" name. Since our passports include our middle names, should we include our first and middle name (without a space between them) to make the form correct? Has anyone else experienced this same issue? Thanks for any insight!
@@TravisTravelsVN Thank you! It seems like I need to add my first and middle in the "surname" space on the visa application and my last name in the "given name" space. I've tried putting my last name in the "surname" space, and they continue to tell me my name is entered wrong,

Hi Travis, My friend is travelling Vietnam with 30-days E-Visa coming to expired 28/12/2023. He's going to Thailand on 25/12/2023 so that he can go back to the country. Now as your advice, I help him to apply a new E-visa while he's still in Viet Nam. But one problem when entering the data feild "Have you been to Viet Nam in the last 01 year?". Should he declare his NOW trip or just last year trip? Because when declare the NOW trip, the system does not allow to enter the future date. Please help me, thankyou Travis.
Is it just me or is the official website for payment down for everyone? I filled out the 3rd page already and when I've tried to the payment button a pop up appears saying I "may have" paid "successfully/payment failed what the heck?! Even I saw our local Vietnam ambassy only opens FROM 2 PM TO 5 PM and all the people from google gave it 1 star!! For someone who intends to live and work in VN but doesn't have an employer yet, can they apply for the tourist visa, then get a job, process work permit, temporary residence card or convert to work visa within the initial 90 days validity period?
My US passport was stamped for 1 (one) day stay only. The immigration officer did not even give 1 week after seeing the evisa and told me I can give a fine when exiting Vietnam. There is something wrong in their system.
@@TravisTravelsVN I went to the immigration office the next working day. There an officer told me to apply for a new one so I did that to cover the remainder of my 7 day stay , but the immigration officer at Airport did not honor the new visa and I had to pay 2 million vnd fine to get my boarding pass.
I have a 90 day Visa with Multiple entries. I read somewhere that when Visa is about to expire you can go to the embassy in DaNang. Have you heard about this as a possibility?😊

You should have the photos saved to your phone or computer already. You can click on the image on the application site and it will let you upload your photos
Hi! Thanks for the info, it was really useful and informative. I do have two questions though. I see on the application form that I need to give the details of my "intended temporary residence". In case I just wanna travel around the country during those 3 months, is that enough if I just write down the address of the very first accommodation? The other question: if someone has multiple nationalities will they have to fill out this form twice with all the necessary passport info etc. or they only need to give the name of the other country they are a citizen of? Thanks a lot!
Yes to the first question, the address of your first stay will be fine. On the new application there is a specific question about multiple passports. They will ask if you have ever come in on a different passport. You may just have to write the number of your other passport but I don't think it will be a big issue for you.
I believe the government wants to know if you have multiple passports because some people try to trick the government if they get banned on one passport by using a different passport.
What dates are you looking? Over Tet holiday may be very expensive but otherwise should only be about 160 CAD during normal times. Let me know your dates I think I can send you a link 🔗
Your video is very helpful. My family and i are planning to travel to viet around oct 25. When should we apply for the e visa? We will be buying our tickets before we get our evisa, sounds right?
Yes whenever you have a general date in mind you might as well apply for the visas. Especially now it can take a week or two if there are any issues and if you are applying for multiple people there is more of a chance of some minor error with the application process. Good luck!
Good video. I agree that you need to do your visa early but I always procrastinate and stress. Definitely at least 3 FULL WORKING days AND NO mistakes. I also have been living in Ha Noi for 6 months and doing monthly tourist visa runs and I recently did the 90 day Evisa. A few corrections to your video. There are definitely visas on arrival. My first visa was one and yesterday someone I know on the flight on from Bangkok did one. He wanted a multi-entry but they only gave him time based upon his airline tickets and single entry. Maybe there was a communication problem or laziness so I recommend doing a multiple-entry visa online. I didn't with no problems. Second corrections, overstaying is now is bigger problem because in the new visa process the government asks if you have broken ANY Vietnamese laws. ANY! So you jeopardize your visa or at least complicate the process by overstating besides the fees. Don't do it.
i had a quick question if you dont mind, so i have been approved for the 90 day multi entry evisa from 1st november for the duration. i did receive an official reply from the public service portal ministry of public security . now i realise the writing telling me that i have been approved is in red writing , but i guess that will turn green on 1st november . so i was wondering what is the procedure now when i arrive at immigration arrivals on 1st november , as i do not have a physical evisa on my person , i only have the printout from the official portal public security site. is it just a case of handing over my passport to the officer and all my info is on a data base . any help . thanks again, take care
@@kevod09 1) you must print out at least one black & white or color copy of your Evisa BEFORE you go the airport. I crossed the Lao border and back with the 90 day visa a few days ago. On the application, I put all of the entry/exit dates going back 1 year (from August 1, 2022). I don't think all of the information has to be 100% perfect, I would just fill it out best as you can.
Yes, if the visa entry date is also the date approved. The visa might get approved but for an entry date some time in the future. Always double check the dates on the visa

Now we just want to know where would be the immigration will it be on Ho Chi Minh during transit or it will be on Hanoi. P.S: We have given the entry port as Hanoi Airport in our Visa.

Question and this may be a dumb one. If you have a multi entry visa, is there a time period in which you can enter and exit. For example: if I go to Vietnam for a week, hop over to Malaysia for a week, and then come back to Vietnam for a few days before going home, would the frequency of coming and going in such a short window be a problem?

I believe you only need single entry visa, apply the same as usual. Some cruise ships organize visas for you. Did they tell you that you need to apply visa yourself?

You should check with the cruise company. Since you will only be in Vietnam a short period of time, most countries have a visa exemption. Some cruise companies may charge a fee to do the paperwork for you. And depending on your nationality you may need to apply for e visa ahead of time.
Hi Patricia, I am also traveling in on Celebrity Solstice in January. Celebrity is indicating that we need to secure the visa on our own in advance. In checking, we will arrive at the Ha Long International Cruise Port which is 3 1/2 hours from Hanoi. I want to find out if we can use this port for our first point of entry. Any thoughts? BTW: with going out to sea each night, I am planning to request a multi-entry visa.

Why can't they follow Thailand and make it easy for tourists.
Because they don’t want to inflate prices. Foreigners make the prices go up.

@@TravisTravelsVN Thanks, I will probably email you at a later point since I am planning ahead. My first visa would actually end in November since I won’t be arriving in Vietnam until September 1st. Yes that is a new rule for about 8 months now that you have to leave before applying again

Hi Travis - thanks for the great information you share. Is there any annual day limitations which you can stay as tourist? Or in other words, can I stay the whole year in Vietnam (by getting each 3 months another e-visa, through exit/re-entry)?
As of now no limit to how many tourist visas you can use

Hi
Thank you for this video. Some websites still say that they require travel insurances that has covid coverage. Is this still a thing? Thank you man!
No I wouldn't worry about that. Don't listen to anything not published clearly on the official government website
Hey question about the any living relative residing in vietnam. Do they care about this question? I have a lot of aunt and uncle who live there and I don’t want to take the time to fill out there address and all that
Yes I can't say for sure, but I think you're ok to leave this out I haven't heard of any problem with this yet

Do you need a visa as a US citizen if you're visiting Vietnam less than 15 days? would really love the info in leave in a few days !
US always needs a visa, make sure to apply in advance takes 3-4 days minimum. Send me a message if you need express visa

Yes you will have to leave the country after 3 months and apply for a new visa

You'll need a visa for the 4 days in Vietnam but you don't have to worry anything about entry point. Just use your best guess if youre not sure where you'll enter
My daughter and I are going to Vietnam in October. After completing and paying for the e-visa, we both received an email message saying our names were incorrect. We are American, and typically only type our first names when asked for "given" name. Since our passports include our middle names, should we include our first and middle name (without a space between them) to make the form correct? Has anyone else experienced this same issue? Thanks for any insight!
Yes include both your first and middle name. It must match your passport
You should still keep a space between first and middle
@@TravisTravelsVN Thank you! It seems like I need to add my first and middle in the "surname" space on the visa application and my last name in the "given name" space. I've tried putting my last name in the "surname" space, and they continue to tell me my name is entered wrong,

@@TravisTravelsVN thanks!
I believe the government wants to know if you have multiple passports because some people try to trick the government if they get banned on one passport by using a different passport.

I hope it comes in time. As an emergency you can try the visa agent. I wish you seen my video sooner!
Did your visa get approved on time? I had the same issue - I'm traveling on Friday and I submitted my application on last Sunday. I should be within the necessary processing days, but I'm a bit worried it might take longer or that I entered some incorrect information that they might ask me to update. Do you know any agents you could recommend? Thanks so much!
@@camilamamani883did you end up getting it, I applied 6 days before my departure?
