This is how English should be used in Vietnam. I see many famous RUclipsrs opening English channels just to teach English to Vietnamese people. They show off their English skills to native speakers but not to international friends. I love this channel, very good, very suitable for the purpose of learning English.
When renting a scooter or motorcycle always confirm which break controls the back or the front because it depends on what country it's manufactured in if they drive on the left side or the right side and you don't want to lock up your front wheel and go head over heels.
Hi Van, I discovered your channel about 6 month ago as we started planning our trip to Vietnam that was in our bucket list for few years and had to postpone due to Covid lockdown. We are just returning from 2 weeks there, where we covered Saigon, Dalat, Ba Na Hills, Hoi An and Hanoi. Your videos and advice were right on helping us to navigate the geography and culture of that beautiful country. Have to say that in every city that we visited was cleaner and we felt safer than in any other country we visited or live, including USA (we had lived in several countries and traveled extensively the 5 continents). We are coffee lovers and Vietnamese coffee is the best I had ever, including egg coffee and salty coffee (that is out of this world). We also tried every street food, including the beer corner in Hanoi. Never had a stomach issue, despite I am kind of sensitive to fatty food, so I enjoyed all the fresh vegetables and fruit that is a big part of local food. We like to travel outside of the tours thing, so we rented a scooter in Dalat and Hanoi. Also used Grab in every city and for day trips out of the cities. We walked a lot, too. There is a lot to see, so a lot of reasons to be back there in the future. Having visited several other south east Asia countries before, Vietnamese people are as friendly as the rest of Asia, but we found them more peaceful and they don't look at tourists so anxious like in other places. In most places, restaurants, airplanes we were almost the only westerns and we felt treated like another local (what we loved). The only thing that can be improve for a visitor better experience is the use of English as second language in touristic places. For example, we visited Perfume Pagoda out of Hanoi, and the signs with all the instructions about the ticketing system for the park, the boats and cable cars was only in Vietnamese, in a place that usually is packed with tourists. We had a hard time trying to understand was we were paying and what was not included. Google translator helps a lot but takes time to communicate with the locals. I watched a lot of YT videos about Vietnam and I have to say that yours were the best by far on actually how is Vietnam and what a foreign visitor could expect. Thanks for all the good information and advice you are providing here. Your Vietnamese culture, high drive/energy and US experience is the key factor that allows you to be successful in what you are doing, so keep going girl.
I had exactly same experience in one month trip 5 years ago. Hanoi to Da Nang/ Hoi An. Going back in 7 months to Hanoi , SAPA, Da Nang hopefully to find retirement place . I am 72 wish me luck.
As a Vietnammese I am so appriciate for your nice words about my country.Being a local tour guide I will do my best to make VN tourism become better day by day.On behalf of my country, I would like to thank you for your vistting
I am always entrigued by how Vietnam has grown as it is today, from the distructive effects of the Vietnam war. As always, Vietnam is one of my favorite places
Thanks to you my first trip to Vietnam was the best it could be!! This video was the perfect groundwork for my research to travelling Vietnam and I went to Saigon for New Years (which was crazy), Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Da Nang, Hoi An, and Nha Trang. I just returned home but wish I was still only there. I absolutely fell in love with the country and all the lovely people, beautiful sights, delicious local foods, rich culture, and had unforgettable experiences I’ll cherish for a long time. I’ll be back soon! Thanks Van 😁
Hello Van! My name is Joey from SF. San Francisco. I started following your channel when I flew to Vietnam a few months ago when I met my GF for the first time in Phan Thiet. As you can imagine I was anxious and scared to go to a country like Vietnam. But, after watching your channel you helped me get through all of the concerns. Thanks again for the informative tips about etiquette, language, food, and etc. I will keep watching and supporting your videos. Happy New Year everyone!
Hi Joey, hope you're doing well and had a good trip and memories during your stay in Vietnam. Could you please share your experiences during your trip? Thank you
Cảm ơn! Your videos have been very helpful in my plans to come to HCMC in March. I'll be staying in District 1 just around the corner from Ben Thanh Market. I'm very much looking forward to being immersed in the culture, enjoying the vegetarian food, and taking a day trip to Chu Chi tunnels and Mekong Delta. I've been to India before so I'm already well experienced and dealing with crazy traffic 😂
❤ Vietnam and April tanning beaches! Passed Philippines in almost every catagory. Beautiful and food too. Hotels are top rate and luxurious! Great 👌💪 video!
Hi Van, I was in HCMC 2 years ago and although it was ok I did find it to be very busy. I loved the people, food and coffee so decided to return but this time to Da Nang where I spent 10 days. I loved Da Nang and visited Hoi An, saw the Ba Nah Hills and spent some time exploring the Lady Buddha, marble mountains and the beach. I absolutely loved Da Nang. Hotels there seem so so cheap and the coconut coffee was delicious
We are trying to organise a private tour next March next year to Vietnam and Cambodia, and your videos have helped so much in helping us make a list of what we want. Love your videos, they are the best we have seen.
Thank you for this useful and complet guide! I'll do the Ha Giang loop next week and I personally prefer to take an easyrider to enjoy the view instead of watching the road. 😊
Xin Chao Van😊, so nice to discover your very informative, concise and very helpful You Tube Channel even though I've been shuttling back and forth from the Philippines to all points of Vietnam for Twelve Years already. More knowledge of the latest Updates and Trends coming from a very smart and organized Local like you always comes in handy. Been longing to explore Buon Ma Thuot and Phuo Quoc for some time now since these are the Places I haven't visited in my Decade-long Visits to Vietnam. I already learned how to make Vietnamese Cuisine at home and gathered enough knowledge of Vietnam's Best-kept Coffee Concoction Secrets! Yay!😅 I even conceived a Vietnamese name for myself coz I'm always being mistaken for a Vietnamese😂 anywhere I go❤🇻🇳Xin cam on, Van
So good. I am looking at travelling to Vietnan several times over the next year or so doing a bit of research about where I might want to spend some time. Van is so helpful and informative. I have just ordered the book.
Awesome video, great tips. Thanks for providing basic but comprehensive information before visiting the country. Will be watching it again once I am ready to visit in 2024. Your ROCK!
Thank you very much for this great video with so much invaluable information. I will visit Vietnam for the third time this year and I'm very happy that I came across your channel.
Ms Van . Thank you ,Thank you , for another fab vid . Sally-Ann and I will be in Vietnam in April , doing South to North with a stop in Hoi An , Da Nang . Hopeing to do the helicopter trip around the Marble Mountains from the old airbase . Is that a booking you would recommend ? Cheers , Pete . 🇻🇳🇬🇧
I love your content and your sense of humor @WhatThePho 😂. I will be travelling to Vietnam during my Christmas Break this year, I am traveling with my 7 & 8 yo kids, and I was wondering where (what city) would be better to spend/celebrate Dec 31st. Do you have any preference or recommendations about it ?
Hi Van, hope the things are in your favor. Thank you very much for sharing this video. So glad to hear these useful tips for traveling. Best wishes, keep moving forward!💯🙏🌾🙂
I stumbled on this video and I'm so glad I did, thank you Van Vu! So I just wanted to make sure, me and my friends are traveling to Vietnam this summer for about 14/15 days and we are so excited, but since we are from the US does that mean we have to apply for the visa? Want to make sure because other sites got me very confused haha.
Public buses in HCMC were....interesteing: they don't really fully stop at the bus stop, but just slow down and people get on while it's moving a little. Definitely a first for me.
Hi! Van. Thank You for sharing this informative vlog. Good to see you back to your bubbly self. Wish you all the best going forward. Stay safe and take care ❤️
Beautiful, great contents, lovely voice and you do a good job ❤ I have been watching your channel to learn English and also something new about our country 😂😂
Hi Van. What would you recommend for 1 month of work travel in Vietnam? It's important that I have 1) strong and secure internet, so I can work remotely 2) Safety and security (how can I confidently roam around leaving my work laptop behind). I'm planning to travel from South to North so these 2 criteria's important for all places I'm visiting. I'd love to get a consultation, if that's something that you'd do and maybe get a travel guide out of it. Thank you!
Thank you for your video it was very helpful! I am going to Vietnam soon and I will be bringing one large suitcase and one small carry on suitcase. I lot of people usually go backpacking and take minimal luggage. I have a bit worried about my suitcase as I am going from south to North and places in between. Should I also bring a backpack instead of a luggage or is it possible to travel Vietnam with two suitcases specially with transportation is that a good idea?
Hello Van, Thank you for the detailed explanation. I need your suggestions. I planned my Vietnam tour between 9th Feb to 18th Feb, 2024. I've made all the payments and bookings. Later I learnt that 10th Feb is Tet. I cannot change my plan now. Will I be able to do sight seeing of places like Datanla waterfalls Dalat or BaNa hills Danang etc. ? I will be in HCM on the first day of the new year (Tet). Which is the best place to celebrate? What is the best way I can enjoy the first week on Tet as a tourist? 😊
even if you do not have a license you can easily rent a motorbike, but not in ha giang. most places there are not renting without a license because the police are currently monitoring the streets. i was unable to rent over the summer and had to share a bike with a friend. i did drive a lot once we left the rental though, but was nearly caught by police several times along the trip and was actually stopped once. if you get a ticket i think it will cost you about $40, but you can typically bribe them for about half that, i got away with 500K VND.
Hi Van! I have a question. Btw, I love your channel and thank you so much for sharing your culture. My partner and I are backpackers and we are going to Vietnam for 6 weeks and leaving on the 19th of February 2024. We were wondering if we could bring our camping gear and if it would be welcome. Many thanks! 😃
Pray for your family. Keep it up. Glad you back uploading any content. You good representation for Vietnam modern women. I Siam woman support by subscribing.❤
Very informative video! Thanks so much! Curious you mentioned about the SIM card but if our iphone doesn't have SIM option, any recommendations on pocket WIFI companies?
Hi Van I used Pocket WiFi when travelling Japan and found it super useful. Is this service available in Vietnam and if so can you recommend a company? Just discovered your channel recently as I planning a trip in June, and have found your content extremely helpful. So thank you 😊
Hello! I enjoyed your very informative video and would like to ask you a couple of things. I am an absolute vegetarian, no egg, no stock in the soup and no meat whatsoever. Every one says it's going to be very tough for you.. Could you suggest a couple of veg dishes, which will be found across the country ,so I can manage? Next is If we , my husband and I, on the wrong side of 50 would like to do some hiking and some cycling in each of the places we visit, Which company would you recommend and which are thr places that you recommend should be on our itenarary? Thank you! Thank you.
Hey... Thank you for your informative videos, which are very helpful for travellers visiting Vietnam. I will be visiting Vietnam from 28th Dec to 4th Jan 2024 and my travel agent has planned my itinerary but I would like your tips and advise for some important days and events like celebrating the new years eve at Dan nag and which hotel to select. Please can I have your contact info so I can get useful tips for a more exciting and worth the money spent experience... Thank you once again, and pls keep uploading such informative videos with your lovely smile 🙏🏼❤️💐
Hi Van, I just discovered your channel. I am planing our trip to Hanoi in July 12, 2024 . How many days do you think we will need to see Hanoi. And can you recommend other close by cities to visit. Also, do you have any hotel and tour guide recommendations? Thanks in advance.
Oh my your videos are so helpful !! We are heading to vietnam next week - do you have any recommendations for street food Hanoi guides just for a few hours?? My partner is getting tattooed for 5 hours in the old town and i want to go experience some street food but not sure where to go, do you offer them?? - would love to walk with the locals and just great food.
Hey Van, where is the best place to live in Vietnam which has the highest concentration of people who speak English as well as you? It would be awesome to live in Vietnam and still be able to communicate and make friends who speak fluent English
Hi. I’m originally from Vietnam but fled with my mom when I was 4. My uncle wants me to live with family there. I finally visited family last year. Am I allowed to stay there now that I’m in my 50’s. Or do I still have to get 90 day visa cause I did not live in Vietnam. I’m now in Hawaii.
Hi Vân - thanks for sharing this video. I will be there next week(after20 yrs.). My phone is with Verizon which does not have the removable sim card slot. Do you know if it has the option to get local network to work? I'm planning to purchase the international plan with Verizon and wonder if it will work. Thanks.
I did the international plan with Verizon when I went 3-4 years ago when I went there, it was fine. It was sometimes slow in certain areas, but I'm not sure if that's the norm there or not.
There are a few things: first make sure that your phone is unlocked and second I'd recommend services like Nomad or Airalo (both apps) that let you purchases e-sim cards for relatively cheap prices. The benefit is that most newer phones can handle multiple e-sim cards at the same time.
hello i am planning atrip to vietnam and finding your information helpful thank you i have a question about my visa and cannot find your link could you possibly help me
Hi Van, you seem very knowledgeable and I hope you could help...Do you know if students in VN still have to memorize pages from their books word by word and then recite word by word back to their teachers in class? I remember it was like this in the 1980s. Back then, we didn't have to understand the materials, but we had to memorize paragraphs word by word and recite verbatim back the next day in class. If anyone else can share some info, please do. Thanks!
Hi Van, We have planned a trip to Ho Chi Ming city,Hanoi, Halong Bay & NIng Bing next July. We will first arrive in Ho Chi Ming city . After staying there for a week then we will travel to Hanoi ,Ning Bing & Halong Bay.I don't wont weather to ruin our holiday.Should we change our travel dates ? Pls advise.
Hello Van! Could you tell me where in Hoi An did you buy your dress? Do you remember? It is so beautiful, I love it and you look awesome in it. The color reminds me the building in Hoi An. Hugs!

Hi Van. What would you recommend for 1 month of work travel in Vietnam? It's important that I have 1) strong and secure internet, so I can work remotely 2) Safety and security (how can I confidently roam around leaving my work laptop behind). Hello Van,
Thank you for the detailed explanation.

I love your all vdo and learned a lot by your vietnamese knowledge with flavor upbringing attachment with western countries.
Hi Van ! Thank you for all these tips 😃 but do you know if the price of a hotel room can change if we book from Vietnam or from an other country ?
What if I want to move to Vietnam? How long can I stay? What about apartments? I plan on arriving in October sometime.
This video was so informative, thank you 😊

Hi Vân,
Ill be in VN after Tết 2024... in Quang Bình and Đà Nặng for a few days.. Whats are recommended places to visit?
@@minnow86 Will do. Thanks!
There are a few things: first make sure that your phone is unlocked and second I'd recommend services like Nomad or Airalo (both apps) that let you purchases e-sim cards for relatively cheap prices. The benefit is that most newer phones can handle multiple e-sim cards at the same time.
I love Vietnam so much n your videos

arriving in Ho Chi Minh this Saturday.... any ideas of how to celebrate NYE?
Hi Van, you seem very knowledgeable and I hope you could help...Do you know if students in VN still have to memorize pages from their books word by word and then recite word by word back to their teachers in class? I remember it was like this in the 1980s. Back then, we didn't have to understand the materials, but we had to memorize paragraphs word by word and recite verbatim back the next day in class. If anyone else can share some info, please do. Thanks!
