I'm now riding a 2020 Scorched Orange/Silver Flux Street Glide Special. The bike had 6 mi on it and I'm up to 203 so I'm still breaking it in. I must say I love the smooth, high torque power of the M8, 114 ci
V-twin power house suspended by a nice riding suspension, the infotainment system, the RDRS and the style and paint.
My ONLY complaint is that I'm 6'3" tall and so the bike is a little on the short side. All in all tho, I love the bike and would not trade it for anything! If someone walked up with the keys to a new C8 Corvette,...naw, no way!! lol

Oh man! I went to the HD dealership to get a couple patches put on my vest and came away with a Street Glide minus my Sport Glide. It's the Tahitian Teal and the shop customized it with a matching inner fairing, LED running lights & tail lights, handlebar mirrors and a few other goodies. It's a fantastic looking bike. I did a 60 mile ride out in the country on my way home. I loved my Sport Glide but I can tell this Street Glide is made for the long haul. I plan to do a camping tour of southern Colorado and Utah this spring. Going to HD dealerships is dangerous.

For a big bike bagger, SGS can carve canyons like a beast. I have taken my bike on hard turns and never scrape bottom and the 114 is just a beast. With the exception of installing new pipes, my SGS will remain stock. I wont change anything.

I look at the Sportglide as a mini Streetglide without all the extra electronic gadgets & weight. The Electraglide standard is also worth considering if you just wanted a basic bagger without all the bling and at less money as well.
I prefer the batwing fairing over the Roadglide as it just looks better and seems less bulky when riding it. I think the roadglide would suite a taller rider as you are more stretched out with the way the instruments are set up into the fairing.
I love my Sportglide, but one day may change to a Streetglide or Electraglide standard as I do more long distance touring.
I'm interested in your comparison between the Indian Chieftain and the Streetglide and which you would spend your money on.
Happy road testing and stay safe.👍

Nice review, the sport glide is an awesome bike btw, so you aren't missing out :D I think the Road King Special is the nice in-between bike of the softtail and full fairing bagger. I know its a 'touring' bike but it's similar to the sport glide. You should throw a leg over that and do a review ;) I'm waiting for my restriction on licensing so I'm stuck between 5 diff bikes :D
Price point... the Street Glide Special is approx 40K vs 28K for your bike roughly? Purely based on HD online. Pretty big difference so that would come into it.
Love the vlogs man, nice camera work and editing

Andrew Madge Thanks dude glad you are enjoying the videos, really appreciate it - trying to make the videos look uniquely my own so happy you notice! Yes, the Sport Glide is an amazing bike which is why I am in no rush to jump to a touring bike. The Road King is a beautiful bike and I actually prefer the Standard version because the chrome looks so classic. I’ll test it soon for sure! Need to test the Road Glide too. A lot of dealers have new 2019 models on the floor, so I bet when you are ready to buy you should be able to get a killer deal. The 2020s have the RDRS but not sure if it is worth it if you can get a good deal on a 2019.

How’s your comparison from the Sport Glide? They have their obvious differences, however I think less clutter up front is better than the big fairing in my opinion. For that reason, I’m currently looking at either the Road King or Sport Glide, interested to hear your thoughts on these two.

    • @TheMotoBarista
      @TheMotoBarista  4 года назад +1

I do have a soft spot for the Street Glide, it is beautiful and nothing stops wind better than a full fairing. In terms of Sport Glide vs Road King - sport glide handles a lot better due to be a lighter bike and the monoshock is so much better. The Road King will feel more planted, solid and comfortable on the highway though. So depends what kind of riding your primarily will be buying the bike for! Also the Road King bags are slightly larger and stronger/better quality.

Nice motorcycle, with a classic design that for many people defines the „bagger”. Interested to hear how it compared to the Indian Chieftain Dark Horse you rode recently?. I have looked at buying both the Street and Road Glude, but decided against purchasing either. They are just too low tech for such heavy and expensive bikes, and the addition of the RDS system to the 2020 line-up is long overdue. I think the new Indian Challenger will redefine the customer expectations in the bagger market. If it was made by Harley I would buy one tomorrow. Like many people I am now waiting to see how Harley responds to the competition as I would like the „bagger” to be an option when I change my Sport Glide.

    • @bcbsilverhawk8426

Peter Connell. Could not agree more. I like most Harley riders fell in love with my 2018 Street Glide Special. When new and in the Honeymoon phase I could not have been happier. After the newness wore off I started to notice the shortcomings with the suspension and frame. The looseness in corners. The chattering in the front forks over rough sections in the highway. Finally the lack of suspension travel in the rear end. They were there when the bike was new. Just not as pronounced. Only a few thousand and they really started to "shine" through. Owner's literally spend thousands of $s upgrading suspension to Legend or Ohlins suspension. Even after the upgrade a lot of owner's are still not satisfied.
The Indian suspension and tech is miles ahead of the current HD touring models. The new softail chassis and suspension is a huge step-up from the HD touring Suspension. The Softail power to weight ratio/handling/balance is leap years ahead of the Harley touring line-up. The HD touring bikes need a frame and suspension upgrade in the worst way.
Having owned an Indian Springfield in the past and a HD Street Glide Special. The Indian is a much more comfortable long distance ride.
After all that. The Sport Glide is my Bike of choice. Out of the Box it was near perfect. With some upgrades to suit me and my riding style It is almost perfect. After a couple more upgrades I believe I Have found my Forever Harley. The Sport Glide is a great platform. The Best Harley in the line-up. IMHO. Take care.
