With the street glide at night time I can see the road a lot better with a Road Glide when turning I can't see the road as good I do a lot of night time riding and if you live in the country and you're doing a lot of twisty roads you will appreciate the street glide
It's buffeting not buffering.
@@goldysmith6953 I agree. I did a mod to my light wiring harness that allows me to burn both the low beam, the high beam, and the passing lamps at the same time when I turn on the high beams. Comes in handy at night on these poorly lit Tennessee country roads.
I have 2 Road Glides and a new Lowrider ST! I like the fairing mounted bikes!
Hands down street glide love orange and black.
I have followed you and Mrs. Hegshots videos on pistol shooting for years. Now it is my pleasure to see this review with you - another interest of mine.
I have owned both and prefer the RGS. My ultra and sg were great bikes but with the riding my wife and I do, We both prefer the road glide. She calls it the Cadillac of motorcycles
I prefer the batwing fairing of the street and ultra glide for a number of reasons - 1) prefer the look, 2) I never noticed a difference in aerodynamics, 3) closer reach of electronics on batwing, 4) handlebars are a little further away on batwing, which I like.
#5 light turns with bars
While I've never owned either, I've ridden both. And I've also installed both an FXRT fairing and a batwing on my Dyna, and what you just explained is spot on. Personally, I loved the performance aspect of the fixed fairing, but after a while, I started noticing that it was making feel in a similar manner to motion sickness. I was having trouble balancing the bike at lower speeds, and steering, although lighter, was confusing, as I would find myself over or under steering to complete a turn. I removed my FXRT fairing, and the sickness never came back, and my handling of my bike vastly improved instantly as well. It pained me to get rid of the fairing I loved so much, but my ride quality vastly improved.
Sorry for the long explanation, but for my personal opinion, the Street Glide would win it for me.
I am a 5'6" 120 lb. female and have put 75,000 miles on my SGS. I put on a reach seat and am flat footed at stops. I have no problems with my SGS and I ride to super windy SD and WY every year. I love the look of the batwing and the dashboard arrangement of all the dials.
My sister has a 22 RGS, this is probably her 4th or so bike. Not a rookie at all.
I'm always worried about her, but I know she makes good decisions.
Anyway, she lowered hers like 2 inches I think? And shes good. She is probably the same height or maybe 5ft7in max n probably 130ish lbs max?
Good for you though. No reason anyone can't enjoy the more comfortable size bikes, plus you can truly stretch out on that sucker, which is so awesome to be able to do.
My hight and waight absolutely same 😅. Can i buy sgs 🧐?????
Damn.. you go girl

Did my Honda 90. But went with straight piping it. Brutal! Getting looks from the babes; as well as a surprising number of dudes. Feels good to be a member of the exhaust community. see all y'all on the road
I agree with a lot of your comments...but there is a subjective issue as to how big the bike feels on the road that is sometimes under discussed. I’ve had both and if as you alluded to I’m looking for big highway miles I’d go RG...but for me and the riding of more street and some highways the SG just feels a little better. Yes the same frame and such but again more of the feel. Good talk
Good to finally see a local on YT. Love the guys and gals at American Biker. Rob is the best. Just wish I could find someone that will work on an 07 VStar 650 here in Summerville.
Always loved the Electras with the batwing .
There is no comparison , the shark nose cuts through the wind with no problem . Minimal buffeting even around heavy traffic . No vibration in handlebar .She is rock solid from slow speed all the way up . Only bike that that came close , Victory Vision
Great summary. This confirms what I suspected about how they handle. Thanks.
Never rode a street but I cant see riding anything different than my road glide. Great video.
Thanks for your information. I just traded in my 99 Heritage Softail Classic for a 2016 Road Glide Special. It has the 103 with a stage one upgrade. Going from that to this is like night and day. I'm still learning how to handle the extra weight. It's definitely a beast of a bike. But I love it. It's fast. All black. I changed out the stock seat to better fit me. It cruises really nice on the freeway. There is no wind in
my face. Truly a big improvement. Thanks. Ride safe.
I have had both and currently own a 2019 RG. I love both bikes. SG I love the layout of the dash and the fairing for appearance purposes. My RG I enjoy parking lot maneuverability, it is just a much lighter feel. I have no problems on either bike, I have been riding for 50 years. It boils down to personnel preference. I would have no problem going back to a SG, but for now I have my RG setup almost perfectly. Engine work, suspension and some other sweet touches.
50 years riding NICE...Congrats on that stat Keith!
- Another option would be the Road King as one could ride it naked, with windshield, batwing or a different aftermarket fairing.
I had a 17 ultra limited which we loved. Rode it hard and took many trips on it. Over 50k miles worth. Now on a 21 road glide limited and it has made me a believer. Both are great but it's road glide all day for me!
Thank you for the opinion
I’ve been lucky enough to own both . l’ll take the road glide frame mount faring any day!!! Nice video good points.
Clicked on this video because it is one of the big debates and was surprised to see local RUclipsr. I had a 02 RG and 09 Ultra classic, and while I loved everything the UC had to offer, I preferred the ride of the RG. I only bought the Electra Glide Ultra because at the time there wasn't a Road Glide Ultra offered. If I buy another Harley, it will be an RGU. Keep up the good content, signed your newest subscriber.
Just bought my 3rd, 2022 RG limited this time. started with a 2009, then 2015. Collectively near 100K miles. Really like them.
Oddly I've seen multiple reviews where they claimed the Street Glide has less wind buffering on your helmet and body than the road Glide. Even for the passenger. They claimed less fatigue than riding the RG even after a super long multi day ride. So you just never know. I think for each person its more about appearance since they both ride and handle great.
Best comparison video I have seen. Great job.
Thanks 👍
On the air vents, they were closeable on the Road Glide fairing until 2019. When I ordered my 2020 Road Glide I paid for the two closing vents and had them installed so that I could still close those vents. My 2015 RGS was the like that and I prefered having that option for winter and rain riding. I don't get why they got rid of those closeable vents. Good video and breakdown on the differences between the two bikes.
Yeah that was the deal breaker for me, I ride in Canada and the wind can get cold
Bought my First Road Glide in 2004. The number of Road Glides in comparison to Street Glides was, imo, one RG for every 7-10 SG class including the Ultra Classic configuration. I was the odd man out in HOG rides but I loved it nonetheless. Now, it's swung the other way, people have figured out, hell, Harley figured out , the RG is a better ride. I put nearly 90k on that 2004 till work took over and I've minimized the miles ridden. But, I still have a RG Ultra, 2012 and won't give it up until my wheels fall off.
Less fatigue is what I’m looking for. Since I have a v65 Honda that is fast and all wind. I’m now definitely going with the road glide for less wind so ready to hit the long road in comfort. Thanks for the review but that burnt orange is a better looking bike. Comfort or looks I will take comfort now
I own a 2020 Road Glide Special in Scorched Orange. The 1st update needed is Legend REVO-A rear shocks. Saddlemen's gel seat, Tab zombie slip ons, led blinkers, stage ii torque cam, screaming eagle air breather, and of course the new stage Ii Rockford Fosgate stereo 4 speakers with amp.
hey bud i got to give you a thumbs up...why ? because you actually gave us...the viewers...a real answer....most comparisons on youtube end with no answer at all...the narrator is wishy washy....so thanks for a real decision/opinion.....canada
i love this video i was torn until this video its the road glide for me now thank you
I rented both. Spent a lot of time in the mountain twisties of NC & TN on both. Including the Dragon. Did some Interstate blasting. Sorry, but there was nothing magical about the RG. I now have 50K on my Ultra Limited & love it.
I've always like the batt wing over other models mainly for looks and that why I own a 2019 Electra glide standard also I'm cheap too
Great review, fair. Can tell you have the experience to know what you’re saying. I’m a SGS guy. I got that scorched orange 2020. Love it. Being 5’6” I wanted to reach the dash! Ride safe.
5’6 and the bike fits you comfortably? I’m a small guy too so I’m trying to get an idea.
@@jacksonsteele6755 , depends on the road. Sometimes I’m on my toes a little, in sneakers. In boots I’m good. And I got the Road Sofa from Saddlemen. And 12 inch Factory 47 bars.
@@dfunklegendfontdawg5023 thanks so much man!!
Great vid, thanks! In the mkt for a RGU right now.
1) Aren’t there plugs available to close the RG fairing openings for cold rides?
2) RG gets the nod for highway driving & street driving… which model is better in the twisties?
Reading and qualifying these comments/bike preferences don't do a whole lot when people don't include their height. I was always told that SG is better for shorter people. If you have a preference for one over the other, what's your height?
Loved my RGS till I totalled it on 395 a few years ago.
In winter I just closed the vents, they do close. Loved the fairing storage.
The vents don’t close on the RG now.
395 is so dangerous i got hit by a semi on the 40 about hr past barstow at 75mph back in 2021
I like the street glide and being able to aim the headlamp at night. But I still like my road king as well
Hi Bro ! I’m French, and I just discovered your channel. She’s very nice and interesting! I prefer it over any French’s channel
Ride down I 90 past the Badlands in South Dakota and you can tell the difference right away. The Road Glide cuts through the high winds without any front end wobble. Passing trucks is rock solid .
As someone who is 6’3” with most of my height in the Legs and the Arms I bought a Road Glide, after going to the local dealer to trade in my Road King on a Street Glide. The reason was pretty simple, where you want the bars and fairing closer as a shorter person I don’t. Even with the Road Glide’s extra reach I still needed to install a custom seat with two more inches of reach added. In addition the foot position was more cramped on the Street Glide and for someone my size it just didn’t work nearly as well as the Road Glide.
In the end I like the fact that Harley gives two different takes on the same chassis. Depending on your body proportions one might feel a lot better than the other. For me the Road Glide was just designed around my proportions where the Street Glide was just too cramped for me.
I ended up with the Road Glide, went stage 3 on it and never looked back. Have 25000 miles on it in 3 years and still feels like a brand new bike.
There is clearly an absolute winner for me ….it’s Road King
These fairings make the RG and SG look and feel like buses on two wheels. You loose half of the fun that comes from riding a bike. But the Road King remains true to the whole biking experience and still is good for the long travels.✌️
Everyone got a preference I like both love the RG because of the headlight look but just because you spend all your time sitting on the bike it all came down to the rider view of the gauges looks so much better to me on the SG
I been a SG owner for 11 years, owned two of them, road thousand of highway miles and enjoyed every minute. My motto is never tell a man how to spend his money. I prefer the SG all day 😃
B-role caught me off guard with the hand switch 💅 5:42
Brother, I was prepared to not expect such a kick-ass, well thought out comparison. Could a had a little technical detail like why the suspension angles were similar or different. Or any difference in self maintenance.
But I really got nothing else. Really enjoyed being surprised! I'm just an old retired Grandpa Sailor.

Thanks my dude and for your service!
I ride a '14 TriGlide and really trying to NOT get too close to a '22 CVO TG...damn thing might follow me home.
Good to know from one vet to another going road glide. And that cvo is absolutely a fantastic looking bike
I’ve tried both and the road glide as a sportier ride to it. Both bikes are nice and comfortable but the road glide is more aggressive in the curves. To me the Road glide is a better bike for my riding style. I’ve to say the Street Glide is a beautiful bike, both of my cousins rides SGS and and are really happy.
I own both. They are a little older but both the same year so it's a fair comparison. I have to say there is a difference in handling and performance but I wouldn't say one is better than the other. Just different. I would probably say the RG is better in the twisties, and the batwing is a better cruiser.
I have a 17 sgs love it I ride all year long here in Albuquerque.
I have installed a fairing and rear trunk on my Heritage and it does fine for me. It has the same 114 as the road king but a little more nimble since it weighs 100 lbs less.
I like and ride both with equal enthusiasm but currently own a 2018 SG CVO.
They are both excellent choices imo
What size bar is that on the street glide special? Does it block your view any with the original mirrors?
My dealer talked me into a rg limited, took some getting use 2 but i luv it now.
Stock bars on the RG, aftermarket on the SG which make a big difference in this comparison. I ride an Ultra Limited and tried a RG Limited didn't like the airflow right through the middle of the fairing. Some what lighter steering but I prefer the batwing. JMO
Tech tip for steet glide owners, buy the eagle light 7 inch led front headlight, 3300 lumens vs the Road glides 1500 lumens, then buy the eagle lights led front turn signal bulbs and clear lenses. This converts your front signals to white led running lights that change to amber when you use the signals. All are plug and play, no wiring is required. For less than 280 you have 4500 lumens and never had to deal with adding any extra lights. They also have a lifetime warranty. I did it on my road king and my street glide. Soooo much better than anything Harley offers....even better than a Road Glide CVO as far as lighting goes.
I have a 22 Road Glide Limited and love it. I've road the Ultra Classic also but I'm 68 years old, 6'1 and the Road Glide just fits me better and long rides are more comfortable. My wife likes the Road Glide better also. Both are great bikes but I just love the Shark nose look to the Batwing Looks badass. Been riding for 50 years and comfort is just more important now. Personal preferrence.
Great review.
I own both.
I ride fairly hard
Love the Classic looks of the SG, it handles OK when traveling within or a 10mph+ of posted limit, however once pushing it or making a fast pass then crossing back into your lane it tends to give a little shake, faster your going the more it does it. Now it is a 2013 so it has old-style front-end.
The RG, a 2015 with a 110" so it has the better/larger forks, it is good for 20mph+ over the posted limit, doesn't ever shake its head, it will cruise down the Interstate at 95-105mph, the SG is a 80-90mph bike.
This is why I love my Breakout, I like speed with out the wobbles.
The newer Rushmore models from ‘14 on up have better frames and handle better than previous. I’ve ridden both and don’t notice much difference. I have a ‘17 CVO SG and I’ve never noticed any wobbles. I think they improved things quite a bit.
I’ve owned both. In 02 I bought a RG when they weren’t popular had it until 2015 when I got hit & insurance totaled the bike then I bought a 17 street glide, results both are great my RG had 125 thou when it was totaled
Nice Video what brand is the cell holder you have on the red Bike
What are the hand covers on the StreetGlide? I have Yaffe handlebars and can’t find a set that fits.
Owned both multiple times. They both have helmet buffeting regardless of what you put on them, stuff helps but doesn’t stop it completely. Currently on a road glide limited but handling isn’t that great with the big wheel on the front lol
The dual headlights look so much better then that one singular headlight on the streetglides
I have a 2014 Firefighter Shrine Streetglide . I'm 5'7 ish . I love the Streetglide because I feel more in control riding it .( yes I've ridden the Roadglide) . The fairing is closer on the SG whereas the RG reminds me of a car dashboard way out front where I couldn't hardly operate the radio . Plus the SG as mentioned has all the gages in line and in the cold you shut the vent and are Cocooned from the cold air. The RG has that opening around the front headlights. The shark nose did grow on me but not as much as the iconic Batwing. I actually have Scully air ride suspension so I can drop the ass end when getting better foot traction reversing out of parking spaces. I have been in some REAL crap weather on the SG and had no issues with wind and love the mirrors in the Batwing because my hands are protected from the cold and the headlight turns with the bars . I would personally recommend the Road Glide for taller riders because they would have more room to stretch out .I also have a 2005 Deuce but that's a different animal. 🤔😉😁🏴🇺🇲😎👍
I agree...I like that color of the Street Glide...and I LIKE IT!
I wrench and ride these everyday.
RG is definitely a better handling bike.
But I do love my SG.
I’m a road glide guy. I feel like I am not as crowded on the road glide.
great point
Same.. Specially when you're tall..
Same for me. I sat on a few steetglides and im to tall for them.
@@chrissparks3254 HD needs a Big & Tall section of bikes lol.
@@sixwheelcarlisle8491 Agreed. I have to buy a seat that sits me 2 inches back 😆
Well the bigger bars that you have in the street glide you can move those closer to you I had that same setup set up
Yea, you need those big bad boy gloves when riding one of those tanks.
77,000kms on my 2018 FLTRU. Having test rode each the Road Glide out did the SG in cutting thru the wind and slow speed handling. Been coast to coast across Canada. I'm 6'3" so the RG was better suited to me.
How does the lighter/narrower front wheel handle between the two ?
I have a rgs and came from Electra glide batwing does provide more protection from the wind for sure and I didn’t notice a difference at any speeds with the wind pushing on the forks or the frame so that is all bs just looks mainly so pick what you think looks better
Love my 22 street glide I’m short so fits me perfect very compact even though it says road glide on tank
I have rode both from Detroit to Atlanta. They both ride smooth, the only difference is felt when you have a talker or shorter windshield. It’s no more effort between the two like he says in my opinion.
I'm 5-7 and leaning towards a SG. This is going to sound silly but IMO shorter guys look better on a SG vs RG. Right now I'm on Breakout Pro Street and it's fine around town/bar hopping but I'm definitely investing in a bagger for longer rides. Hopefully I'll pull the trigger this winter if I can find a good deal. Right now it seems the used bikes are just as expensive as the new ones.
You're gonna love it compared to the Breakout. It's a cool bike in it's own way but the SGS is light years better imo
Go test ride and make sure I thought the difference would be different because of my height. Then seeing all these women riding RG made me question whether I made the right decision. I’m SG but curious how the RG would have been
@@jembo231jem4 For sure. I will definitely test ride the RG before pulling the trigger. The prices for these bikes are insane and I don't want to end up with buyers remorse.
@@HegshotRides he's gonna miss the freedom of that breakout
I'm 5'9 and own a 2020 RGS, test ride both and you will most likely go with the RGS.
I've had both and I went from a 08 Streetglide to a '17 Roadglide Special. I'm an RG guy now. I just upgraded my suspension, bars and installed Stage 2.
Hello! I want to purchase my husband a road glide for his birthday in June. As far as mileage, what should I look for?
Streetglide for me but I do like both bikes. The closer screen and the look made my choice
Was on the fence between a road glide in a street glide. Sales woman got me thinking road glide. I think you help me finally make that decision.
I always seemed to get more wind buffeting on RTG. Also hands are exposed, if you want to protect you have to get those stuped looking grip guards.
The answer to which one is better is obvious. The one you like and decide to buy. I don’t rely on someone else’s opinion, both are good bikes.
the vents in the roadglide fairing blow up, making the wind that passes over the screen, go up over your head. (or tries to ;) )
The rg is heavier but lighter steering.
The rg limited is very heavy until u get it rolling...
I have to make a comment. I went from a Heritage to a Street Glide in 2018. I loved that motorcycle. Rode to Sturgis, the Dragon, and even rode in the Bring It Home rally. Just out of curiosity, I was looking at a 2022 Road Glide Limited. Hideout made me a deal. As fine a motorcycle as the Street Glide was, this new Road Glide is a lot better ride for me. On a recent 1,500 mile, 24 hour trip, I got 46.78 mpg, running 70, 75, 80 mph. All legal limits. I do have gripes, due to being 74 now. I have looked and there is no reason HD can't move the radio 8 inches closer, even with the handle bar arc. Also, why in hell can't HD put a walking reverse in a 920# motorcycle? Be Safe out there and enjoy the ride. Whichever motorcycle you have.
😊 I have to correct myself when he's talking about one bike it's not the one he's sitting on. Then
I just finished an 11000 mile ride , and used the factory GPS screen the whole time . Believe me , the touch screen being closer was awesome . I'll take the Street Glide every time . Also , just my opinion of course , but I think the Road Glide fairing is HIDEOUS looking .
Ditto.
i agree , screen to gps on road glide is too far away!
Funny, the Batwing looks much more like an elephant head stuck on the front of the SG/Ultras.
Now that youll never unsee it, youre welcome.
Road Glide mafia 4 lyfe!!11!1
I agree with you on all your points. So much I just bought a 120th Anniversary Edition SGS
Took me a little while to like the look of the road glide. I bought a brand new rg in 17 with the Milwaukee 8 and its the best bike I've ever ridden. I dont think I'll ever consider any other bike. If I ever decide to sell the 17 I'll get a new rg. It's so good to ride on long trips, its a pleasure to ride anywhere.
I've always liked street glides better, the road glide reminds me of a goldwing and I just can't get into them for that reason.
Yep I had an ex who knew absolutely very little about motorcycles and even she said the RG looked like a Honda!!! So that’s reason enough I’ll never own one they do look like a Goldwing coming straight at you! 2021 Streetglide Special for me and I love it!
I’ve owned both , and I can cut through the hoopla real quick . If you like to ride distance , take trip etc , at the end of everyday you will have more energy left riding a Road Glide over a Street Glide . Now when you’re young this isn’t as a big a gain as when you get senior . Riding on a 5+ day trip you will notice the difference
Does it come with regular height bars I hate the riser type bars
It's all about the bars!!! Stock SG bars are restrictive. I put on a set of 10in Wild 1 Chubby's and problem solved.
I have a Road Glide Special 2023 All Black and Love it!
More pullback on the street glide and it would turn just like the road glide.
I’m surprised you didn’t talk more about it since the streetglide comes stock with handlebars that have more pullback. More like the road glide.
Put those bars on the road glide and you’ll have the same problem turning…….
Less pullback means you have to reach farther to get to lock.
totally agree... I put 2" pullback bars on my sgs and it's even better
SGS all day. Lol. Great video
What brand did your handlebar change to?
Shark or batwing, I can’t imagine life without either of these sweet rides. Like tall said, if you ain’t Glidin you ain’t Ridin. As far as my favorite… I am Batman!
For my 30th birthday I traded in my 18 SGS for a 22 road glide special. Both amazing bikes But it really just comes down to looks and i prefer the road glide. I think they ride about the same except the road glide feels a bit lighter and in heavy wind more stable. I'm 6,1 and the scrren on the road glide is quite far away but the hand controls work well. Also love the extra storage. For shorter riders I think the SGS will feel easier to ride and they will actually be able to reach the screen
Im the same height, i might just get a road glide, although i like how the street glide looks, i heard its better for shorter riders, guess ill just test drive both
It begins with having options than personal preference. I have owned both and they both function well. I did not like the extra weight on the RG for lower speeds and stop/go around town. Also, the extra distance of the front speakers away from the rider is terrible with the crappy factory stereo output, but stereo wattage is another rabbit hole for another day, simply terrible imo.) On the highway, the RG really shines. For the riding I do, I prefer the SG Ultra.
I say it all the time harley charges champagne prices and gives you a beer budget product.
I have 36,000 original miles from scratch on my FLHXS..StreetGlide .. MILES of riding on highways / freeways & cold trips.... rides smooth no handed... Great motorcycle.. i have Never riden Road Glide.. but I have my eyes on the new CVO Roadglide
Every one that says they like the screen more reachable. I’ve just learned to do EVERYTHING with the joy sticks. With the exception of the diagnostic button. There isn’t anything you can’t do with the joy sticks. Plus I hate finger prints on the screen. If I notice it while riding it drives me insane. Lol
I also own a RGS and am 6’5”. I feel like I just have more room on the RGS over the SGS. But love both. SGS headlight with the halo look. Looks so good.
Changing bars is a must on any Harley
Why are you not a fan of the hydraulic clutch? Loved your review
Have not ridden a RG but loved the SG for one thing that iconic fairing ( Ultra limited) also rode Indian challenger fixed fairing but after owning and riding 60,000 miles on a gold wing did not want that frame mounted fairing again so a bought an Indian road master which feels light in the front and great in the wind doing 80 or 85 on highways tractor trailer trucks doesn’t bothered it feels very stable. I thought the ultra classic was very stable in the wind too .
