  • The Aral Sea was once the 4th largest sea in the world until the Soviets diverted the rivers that fed the Sea in the 1960's. By 2000, the lake had shrunk to 25% of it's original size. Today, the sea is now less than 10% of it's original size, and it continues to shrink today. This time-lapse video shows the shrinking of the lake from 2000 to today, enjoy.

They placed a dam to revive the northern part of the lake but the only way to fix this disaster is to re divert the waters back into the Aral Sea. Anything else is a waste of Money. The neighboring countries have to allow desalinated water to be pumped in from the oceans for the farming and rivers must be reconnected.
