    After what just happened in the manga, I'm starting to realize that Gojo and Yuji were supposed to be compared to each other more than I expected.

    The HI arc is still the best-written arc in the manga in terms of character development and character psychology. A lot of themes laid in HI are further explored in later arcs but never as deeply imo (the parallels and intertwined details of HI are unmatched). The last part about the found family... as nice as it sounds, after losing Geto, I don't think Gojo ever got rid of his loneliness or opened up to anyone to actually know him on a deeper level until the very end. It did give him hope for the future though so at least he knew it wasn't all for nothing (him raising a new generation).

    I thought that the Hidden Inventory was about the consequences of sticking to the established rules in Jujutsu society, or breaking away from the rules to usher in a new era.
    - Riko would have died either by assimilating into Tengen, or by Toji assassinating her.
    - Gojo believes that the old ways of life make tragic lives like Riko’s possible, so he wants to create a world where people like Riko (Star Plasma Vessels) don’t have to exist, and instead the world will be protected by a massive amount of Jujutsu Sorcerers.
    - Geto believes that regular humans are the source of the problems with Jujutsu Society, because they can’t control cursed energy which releases cursed spirits. He has the duty of consuming the curses created by “incompetent” people, so he wants to take the easy way out by killing all non-sorcerers which he believes is natural selection.

    Theres so many themes is this arc alone, but min 25:30 I think is both the evolution of Geto and Gojo. Gojo evolved in his power and Geto evolved in his identity (switching from duty to self affirmation).
    There’s also a lot of emphasis on the theme of the “choice”. Riko’s choice, Geto’s choice and Gojo’s choice.
    There’s also the theme of trauma (toji and later Geto).
    The theme of death and rebirth (Gojo was killed and Geto wasn’t) and the new identity that stems from those.

    What's up Feej, I can't say much ngl, I pretty much agree with everything ngl. This is a really good deep dive, I'm not missing any important details anywhere. Yeah, boring comment, but that should show you that you did well with the video considering that I'm a HUGE JJK addict xDD
    One comment tho,
    34:25
    In the translation I read Geto responded "You say that while sitting next to me?" so I always thought it was obvious that Geto meant himself, adressing his current mental descent.
    I have no idea which translation is more accurate, but I like the one where Geto blatantly refers to himself more, since it fits with his unapologetic behaviour for his actions later on where he just accepts everything and even is fine with Gojo potentially killing him for it.

    • @R7dman
      @R7dman  2 года назад +2

      Means a lot bro 😌
      That’s an interesting difference, I guess it confirms I was on the money, dope. I kinda like the implicit translation because it gives Geto’s transformation that hint of subtlety, if you know what I mean.

    Maybe someone here can help me, I gave up on this entire manga/anime after this arc because I still don’t buy how Geto decided to “kill all non sorcerers “ …it seems like hand waving to make a childish mustache-twirling supervillain. So he went crazy eating too many curses? So what is he going to do? Kill *billions* of innocent civilians? Heck he confronts Gojo in the middle of a large crowd in the city...he better get started killing all those people if his "idea" has any chance of succeeding? And how is that "meaningful?"
    It makes no sense. This is when I realized that this is really about as shallow as a kids comic. Why did they even try to make a back story if it doesn't even make any sense?
    Am I missing something? Please help bc I liked some of this up until now but this sounded so stupid to me that I completely gave up on it.

    • @TheSoulCalledZuzia
      @TheSoulCalledZuzia 11 месяцев назад

      I agree this plan is stupid, but that's not the point.
      He wanted to kill civilians because he hated non-sorcerers. He realized that sorcerers die left in right for non-sorcerers, and they don't care.
      When Yuki told him that theoretically killing non-sorcerers would make the world curse-free ( = no need to die for the sorcerers), he comitted to the act.
      It does make sense, it's just stupid and wouldn't work.
      Also, this backstory doesn't even matter for more than this arc and the movie, lol.

    • @XragebootsX
      @XragebootsX 6 месяцев назад

      A major reason that he doesn’t just start mass murdering right in front of Gojo is because then Gojo would kill him right there without the hesitation that allows him to start his plan. He plotted for around 9 years after this point until he learn about Yuta. With the possibility of killing Yuta and consuming the Special Grade Cursed Spirt Rika, he saw a chance to accelerate his plans, but is defeated and killed. Spoilers for the end of the next arc but his body is now being used by a different villain.

    It feels like you can predict where JJK is going by looking at this arc. Most great stories have one or two side stories that represent the themes of the story and point at what might be to come.
