    China's Grand Canal is 1,104 miles, and built two millennia before the industrial revolution. What's amazing, is it's still the longest canal in the world, and by a considerable amount. And still used today. It's arguably the most important civil engineering project in history

    Good narrative of the greatness of the Chinese people. Like the Great Walls, the undertaking of the Grand Canal is a living testimony of the remarkable sacrifice of her people for better living. Both mega projects were a continuation of succeeding dynasties picking up where the last left; with one same goal and dream.

    China have a history of building great infrastructures, forbidden city, Great Wall, Grand Canal, etc. Modern China is no exception.

    京杭運河 here京refers 東京 洛陽 which is the center of the canal
