Not disagreeing with you, it should, but a logical explanation is the fact that it temporarily came off screen once it evolved into shinagawa-kun, and main characters don't tend to do that.

For those who are wondering why it seems that godzilla had two reboots, let me explain. After the last godzilla film in 2004, the company TOHO said that no new godzilla films would be made or come out for ten years. That's why we got the American 2014 godzilla since a western film series based on the godzilla universe was in the works after the 1998 godzilla film. The shin godzilla film is Japan's reboot of the series, completely unrelated to the Western godzilla and monsterverse films (stuff like Kong: skull island and the upcoming godzilla king of monsters film). So don't worry if it seems that the king of all monsters is getting endless reboots, it's not going to be like that for a long time and it's simply just different companies who are bringing back godzilla for their respective audiences. I'm not sure if I'm completely right so feel free to comment any corrections
Also Jobby, I think your Shin Goji has a bit of a designers flaw, either that or just a bit of a defect. See, my NECA Shin Goji actually has a strong ball-socket that connects to it's back and yours as pointed out seems to be a bit weaker than mine. Just a bit of a point out.

I ended up getting the second version of this figure Neca put out where he's got the purple glow and split jaw, and I freaking adore it. Though funny enough, I ended up straining my hand trying to get the tail on, cause it was stupid hard to actually get attached on mine.

Actually, the tail does have a slight face. You can just barely see it at 3:22, it uses a matte and opaque plastic, unlike the transleucent and nearly gummy appearance the face has in the movie. This makes it barely show up, but you can see the mouth shape.
I agree I really liked shin godzilla more than legendary godzilla. I liked how the city saw godzilla as a terror, not as a saviour. Also I feel like the damage caused by shin godzilla had more of an impact on me than in legendary

Shin Godzilla is a great movie that's why I bought the blu ray. But what sold me to the film was how disturbing the whole movie was. And considering it not a horror movie, to leave a portion of the audience disturbed adds to it's quality.
I have this figure and am pretty pleased with it; matter-of-factly, I thought the tail was supposed to be like that until you mentioned it, because it kind of does fit this incarnation of Godzilla. I only saw the movie once (and agree with your sentiments on it, Jobby) so I didn't notice it until I saw this. I'm half toying with the idea of dremeling it to fit correctly, sacrilege at that may be. Can't really complain at this price point, though. Best thing about this figure though is that it finally stopped those basic vinyl Bandai Shin Godzillas from selling for $100+.
