Because I Certainly Felt It Deeply, & Even Though He Went Through A lot ,.. I Can Appreciate It Even More... & Am Even more Grateful For The Opportunity.. Sincerely, JoJoJohnson
I'm 57.. this is one the most powerful records for sound and influence in my late youth. Incredible. One album.. At the same time and era I loved Chris Whitley. Music sure was good. Living in a Dream and Living with the law
Yes, incredible debut album (produced by Little Steven) which I never get tired of listening to, and thanks for mentioning the late Chris Whitley, RIP. Love his stuff! 👍🏻
Saw Charlie Sexton at the Satellite Lounge in Houston. Then saw Arc Angels twice and Storyville twice. Got to meet them both. Like normal humble guys and hung out with them and the famous Houston Radio Gawd, Jim Pruitt. Sure do miss him. Love watching Doyle play with the absolute best Eric Clapton over the years. Excellent guitar player. My ultimate wish was to meet Clapton. Heck, met Roger Waters from Pink Floyd, no Clapton though.
one of the greatest albums of all time. the harmony between Sexton and Bramhall is absolute magic and oh so sweet to hear. And to add to the effect how about some supporting artists in the form of Double Trouble....are you kidding me? saw them play live twice in Dallas, and once in Austin..... flawless....what a great time.....
Sat in the front row in Dallas when they opened up for Lynyrd Skynyrd. Killer show, killer album. Double Trouble carrying the rhythm and Charlie and Doyle singing and guitars.
Wow, dude. Awesome. Saw them at Stubb's in Austin circa '05 in the pouring rain and they never missed a note. Layton also played drums for the first act! 😊
According to Bob Meredith of Allmusic, 'Doyle Bramhall II's heroin addiction and internal friction caused the breakup of the band in 1993'. While that may have been true, I do wonder if pointing the finger at one person in a team/group is a little duplicitous. I mean if a team loses a race, the team loses, it is NEVER the fault of one member of the team. I also read online that communication between ALL members within the group broke down. It was a 4 member group. That is quite intimate and everybody needed to congeal. I wonder if the 'team' just need to take the hit/loss. I believe it is too easy to pin point one member of a group taking the group down. I also believe it was tragic Arc Angel only lasted a mere 4 years as it was such an awesome crew to listen to. The potential was beyond belief. Just goes to show that human dynamics is stronger than skill, courage, and experience.
Can't believe no one here caught them live for their free performance down on the beach on Galveston island many years ago on labor day. Can't quite remember the year but it was around 2013 i think.
@@joeblow4785 I’ve never heard of those two I don’t think. Well I mean I’ve heard the name Charlie Sexton I believe but I do not know a thing about either.

One of the best albums ever recorded. A unique gem and a must have. It's one amazing tune after another. Been spinning this album since '92 and it never gets old.
I've interviewed Doyle several times, and I've also interviewed Charlie. and indeed both are amazing, singers, songwriters, guitarists and both have evolved and come so far since this phenomenal song & their first Arc Angels days & album. 2 of Texas's most talented artists.
I Remember hearing this in the 90's. I guess I kinda liked it then. Didn't realize then who Arc Angel members were😔. Heard this cut recently on Pandora, Ian Moore station, thought, I knew I've heard this before . So I Googled. Wow, how did I not know who was in this band? Saw them twice in houston about a year after stevie died. Literally standing five feet away at the Bon Ton Room. Absolutely mind blowing. I would rate them the 2nd best live band. First being SRV of course.
Great Band! Doyle Bramhall II is a really Good singer. A Really strong album. I wish they would of continued with more albums after this stellar Debut!!
La Semana Alegre was a week-long music festival that took place during Fiesta San Antonio. I saw these guys put on a great show and witnessed some superb musical abilities that the crowd loved.

Easily in my top ten favorite albums of all time. I learned to play a strat listening to Stevie and this album is definitely one that molded me as a singer/songwriter/player! Some of the cleanest and most tasteful guitar leads ever for sure. Mad respect for these four great musicians! Wish there was more!

Remember the first time I heard this song back in '93. I had just gotten off work and I went by my bro's house to see him, my sis-in-law, and my two nephews. My bro had Arc Angels' debut CD playing in the disc player with this being the lead off song. Because my bro is a long time fan of Stevie Ray Vaughn's, he knew the history of these guys which he kindly informed me of, but this was another case where it was the lyrics of this song that caught my attention because I've been "Living In A Dream" with this girl that I wanted back in 7th grade, but never got. So the next day before I went to work, I went out and bought a copy of this on cassette and it was another one that went with me on many road trips.
AMAZING beautiful voices and guitar. Listened to this as they became famous and I lived in their home state. So decimated that they did not continue....
I had just spent half a decade overseas in the military. I clung to SRV to remind myself of God's country while I was gone. Then I got back and these guys formed up. Awesome times. Wish they had stuck it out a while longer.
Saw them in Albuquerque, NM, small bar. Was feet away from the band...awesome. The bar's closed now . . . as is the band. I was amazed at their stage sound and presence. Come back, ARC ANGELS!!!

Had the same experience seeing Richie Kotzen perform in 2009 (right before he stopped using a guitar pick and switched musical style drastically...) It was like a religious experience seeing the messiah in front of us. Truly moving.
Same thing with my home state, hometown, etc. It was considered THE "rock city" in my country for some solid 15 years or whatever. I arrived late for the party but I could catch some of it. There would be always 3 local bands playing every night, you had to pick carefully who you wanted to see, all of them were killer. Original material, no fucking covers. Healthy competition. Some real crude talent being polished by the harsh competition. The city was ALIVE. There's no other way of explaining it. Like I said I arrived kinda late. This band should have been huge
I think people were so distraught over Stevie it was hard to accept his band doing anything else. It was a heavy burden to carry
According to Bob Meredith of Allmusic, 'Doyle Bramhall II's heroin addiction and internal friction caused the breakup of the band in 1993'. Doyle Bramhall ll, Charlie Sexton, Double Trouble (Chris and Tommy)❤❤
Chris on the drums is so steady. A true professional at his craft!
Use to hang w/Chris and Tommy when Stevie was still with us.
Still good after eighteen years. I wish these guys would put out a new cd. We need some good rock n' roll for a change. Most modern rock is terrible.
Have you heard of Black Country Communion?
@@oscargamboa5793 oh yes....
Honestly if these same guys got together and put out something just as good as the last one was they could be huge still
What “modern rock”?
