This is stunning you did an amazing job!😍😍😍, this is the standard process in most Eritrean/Ethiopian salons. But I just want to add that heat is still being used but I find that this is less damaging.
Lovely indeed, and I have been doing this for decades, since high school, on my elastic, soft 4B/C hair. It does not last as long on mine without heavy setting lotion or sticky gels, which I refuse to do since I get acne in my oily scalp. I won't even use Lotta Body! (Alternatively, I used to use a "white" curly perm, Lilt, to loosen my 4 hair to a 3 texture before roller setting it.) This method is much more lasting on Ethiopian/ Eritrean/Somalian hair, or the equivalent Afro- American or Afro- Latino type.
I used to get roller sets a lot. I have been natural for most of my life. Over 50 of my 56 years. No color no perms or relaxers but I wore my hair short until the last few years. I think that the products used on the hair make a huge difference.
How long do you sit under a dryer. My hair is beyond my shoulders and it takes three hours. During Covid it’s even longer and now I will dry in one hour increments and no longer all at once. I’ve been wearing wet sets all of my life! Love it!
@@donnagholar9695 I sit under for 2 hours in the evening and let it finish overnight. I then take each of the 4 sections out one at a time, spray some heat protectant, and hit my wavy roots with a flat iron, pin curl, let cool and tie my satin scarf on😊. I got that quarantine growth too🤣🤣
I love our people. 💓 We finally figured it out y'all. It was rollers, WITH the comb in it, on really wet and moisturized hair. Got it! Thanks, Sis. Instant like and subscribed. ❣️
I always roller set my hair cause I get single stranded knots if I leave it in it's natural state but my roller set normally is waaay more fluffy It's less fluffy when my mom does it for me, moms know how to do the things
I have been talking about this for years and no one was listening. Now I have professional proof. Thank you. You did a beautiful job and your client looks really good.
You glamorized her hair beautifully. It is bouncy and silky. I grew up with roller sets. I’ve always loved this hairstyle. It brings back memories. It is back out once again. Keep bringing the styles back. Thumbs up 👍😇🤩💐
Thank you Jennifer, You just saved me, I have been roller setting for 5 decades. for the past 6 months I have decided to go NATURAL. That's what COVID did. For the past week I was at a low because my hair was just unmanagable. To do Afro hair every 2-3 days was taking its toll. I was going to call my hairdresser for an appointment to do a brazilian keratin. However, Washed my hair this afternoon and used Olaplex 0,3,4,5,8 and 6 (in that order). I smiled when I saw how beautiful my platinum hair looked, thank you, thank you PS I am going to get your products mentioned and I'll keep you posted on my progress.
The dominicans was doing this to black girls back in the late 80's early 90's and then wrapping the hair which is called a doobie. And that was in NY when the dominicans hit broadway uptown in Manhattan/Harlem. Girls from every Boro went to broadway. They put "Black Hair Is" (known black salon) out of business. History at its best. And yes of course roller sets have been around waay before that but this style of wrapping afterwards started as I stated.
This video is a game changer!!! I came up in the times of relaxers and flat irons. Now that my hair is natural, I’ve been wanting to straighten my hair without all the extreme heat. Thank you so much for this simple step by step guide. ☺️🙏🏾💛
I used to always do roller sets when I was relaxed - volume, longer lasting body curls. Now that I'm 10 years au naturale. . .I may try it after watching you. Thank you for your great techniques and advice. New subbie!! 💜
I wore roller sets forever, when everyone else was getting weaves. When my stylist was finished they would all stare at how beautiful and healthy my hair was. They would ask her what it was that I had done. They last forever.
And I bet your hair grew like crazy and had gorgeous volume and shine. Roller sets really help maintain hair growth and most people who get roller sets have healthy hair that I know of. They are mandatory for a perm in my book.
@@glw5166 yes! It was in full bloom, thick and lush. I’m natural and at 59 my hair line is full and healthy. I don’t pull, tug, glue, braid, weave or use wigs and nonsense products on my hair. Just leave it alone and it will be beautiful.

I love this! I’m natural and just went to get my first “blowout” at the shop and was dreadfully surprised at how much heat and heat styling tools were used for the finished look. Nothing said BLOWOUT in that process! But this right here Sis is what I was looking for! 🙌🏾🙌🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
A blowout requires a handheld blowdryer and a round brush at the very least so it’s going to be way more direct heat than a regular roller set, and if you get a Dominican blowout they roller set the hair first before they do anything else.
This has been a staple in Charlotte NC for over 20 + years. I wear it on my natural hair but only in fall & winter. This style is DOA (dead on arrival) as soon as a ounce of humidity hits it. Then you will have a frizzy, bushy fro within 30 minutes.
This is beautiful! I personally don't like all the texture pressed out of my hair when wearing it straight. This is straight enough for me. Also, that color is nice and is giving me courage to go that light.
Very nice! I was just telling my daughter I might do a roller set to straighten my hair. I haven't had heat since I permanently went natural 7 years ago. Also, because I'm losing the density due to lack of caring for, I don't want direct heat on it. Again, job well done! Peace and Blessings!🙏🏾❤️
It’s been a lonnnnng time since I’ve had a roller set done! My mother used to do mines as a child and teenager! I was blessed to have a mother who delighted in caring for my hair. I didn’t appreciate it as much back then because I was a silly child who didn’t understand. Lol 😂 I get it now though. That is so beautiful!
Absolutely old school, and I LOVE it. I just looked at a dryer to sit under a few days ago. Mine went dead a while back& I never replaced. Just have a heating cap, which is great for deep cond, not big rollers. I'm going back to get the hair dryer. If it's not there, I'll order. I do like that clear dryer used in the video. Her results were FABULOUS before and after the caps, but I love how the wrap& caps gave the hair more body than curl. Her color went very well with her complexion. Absolutely marvelous look! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Girl… RUclips has me over here binge watching your videos! Because I watched ☝🏾, now all of your stuff keeps showing up in my feed today and I am watching and loving everything!🤷🏽♀️🤣 This girl really had me smiling at the end! She’s so pretty and I love how her hair turned out! Excellent work🙌🥇❤️
I love watching hair being done. I like it when the curlers come out. It looks so pretty. Bouncy and fully of life. Yes im not a fan of when its stick straight and fly away.
This is beautiful. Well done. I have actually straightened my hair without heat before. It hair dried. Even when I had perms I did my hair myself without sitting under the dryer.
Yes, I use to roller set my hair over thirty years ago. My hair is longer now, so it would take too long to dry, but after watching I may go back especially in winter.
Great video. I loved the final outcome, but I loved all those curls when you took the rollers out. That's more my style. You did a great job on your client. Thanks for the video.
Omg I've been roller setting my hair for yrs, that's the only way my hair will hold curls. My hair texture is soft and wavy so roller set is my best friend.
THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO. I DO HAVE THOSE TYPES PF ROLLERS WHICH I BOUGHT LIKE 2 yrs ago. & since I thought it was very hard for me to use and didn’t like the outcome, I never used it again. But after watching those video and your results, I believe it’s all about product used and technique. So I will consider the products you used and try by best to use a better technique for the rollers. Because my hair has grown significantly, and I would like to wear it in a straight style. This is perfect for us naturals who do not want to pass the blow dryer and flat iron. Thanks so much again♥️ God bless!!!
Yes. But it might not look as sleek, and you’ll likely see the texture around the root area. Soo smaller sections, so that the hair can stretch as much as possible.
I am so glad that you put up this video. What I don't understand is why so many Stylist got away from Roller sets. I have always loved this style. Now, I just have to do it myself, which can get tiresome...lol.....It's a lot of work, and I don't mind paying to have it done, but you would not believe how many Stylists in the US apparently no longer like to tangle with natural hair, so TY.
Haven't had one in years along with a super relaxer 😭😭😭 and then when my hair was natural (I am a fine 4C) no one would do it 🙃 I get that it takes long to dry but it's still a good service 🤷🏾♀️
Wow I am shook. I have never seen this before!! In the comments they mention this is how Ethiopians style their hair and the one girl I met from Ethiopia had long straight afro hair so now I absolutely believe that. Liked and subscribed :)

@@votesudanusa who is hating? Nobody isn't hating, everyone has their different opinion. You are being negative.
I think that when she refers to "no heat" she's referring to curling irons and flat irons or direct heat. Hair dryers use indirect heat.
Any located in Atlanta
@@BreahRobinson I believe “hairstyles by Eden” on RUclips is around the Atlanta area.
I used to get roller sets a lot. I have been natural for most of my life. Over 50 of my 56 years. No color no perms or relaxers but I wore my hair short until the last few years. I think that the products used on the hair make a huge difference.
This is why I'll ALWAYS be a roller set queen plus my nearly thigh length natural hair lasts wayyyyy longer🤩. Gorgeous

Thanks so very much for the details! The things we do for our hair💕🤗 thanks again!
I love our people. 💓 We finally figured it out y'all. It was rollers, WITH the comb in it, on really wet and moisturized hair. Got it! Thanks, Sis. Instant like and subscribed. ❣️
I always roller set my hair cause I get single stranded knots if I leave it in it's natural state but my roller set normally is waaay more fluffy
It's less fluffy when my mom does it for me, moms know how to do the things
Lovely, reminds me of back in the day 👏🏽
Thanks, and yup it’s what we did before hair electric hair straighteners became a thing!
I smiled when I saw how beautiful my platinum hair looked, thank you, thank you
PS I am going to get your products mentioned and I'll keep you posted on my progress.
How did it go?
The dominicans was doing this to black girls back in the late 80's early 90's and then wrapping the hair which is called a doobie. And that was in NY when the dominicans hit broadway uptown in Manhattan/Harlem. Girls from every Boro went to broadway. They put "Black Hair Is" (known black salon) out of business. History at its best. And yes of course roller sets have been around waay before that but this style of wrapping afterwards started as I stated.
Philly too
Let em know. This is NOTHING NEW.
It's not just in the 80s and 90s, I was there in the early 2000 before I went natural. I think they're still there
I am from NY and I used to get my hair done by Dominicans.
Exactly
Aw lovely
And I bet your hair grew like crazy and had gorgeous volume and shine. Roller sets really help maintain hair growth and most people who get roller sets have healthy hair that I know of. They are mandatory for a perm in my book.
@@glw5166 yes! It was in full bloom, thick and lush. I’m natural and at 59 my hair line is full and healthy. I don’t pull, tug, glue, braid, weave or use wigs and nonsense products on my hair. Just leave it alone and it will be beautiful.
@@lisapage6802 I'm not too far behind 59 so you are giving me hope! Do you use a particular setting lotion if you don't mind me asking? I know most people use Lotta Body but curious if there are other products out there that could be recommended.
@@glw5166 lotta body! Then she would oil my scalp and comb into a very old fashioned style but it was beautiful. I would sleep with hair net. I’m the mornings when I took it off i would have curls forever. I have what is now called 4C hair and it wasn’t very long maybe 8 inches.
Her hair is so thick and healthy looking! I love this method! I’m definitely showing this to the next stylist to show her what I want.
I'm old, so this is what I used to get done at the salon. It still effective. 👍
😍 so pretty! I've always preferred a light, airy rollerset to stick straight hair. This is gorge sis 👸🏾
Thanks and yes I prefer bouncy too
It’s been a lonnnnng time since I’ve had a roller set done!
thanks for your contribution, hope you find a dryer that works for you
@@JenniferCynthiaHair Thanks Jennifer. I found a nice one. 😁👏🏼
Beautiful low heat style, as a hairdresser i still do many roller sets because it is less heat stress on the hair. Love the ponytail
Wow! Can we just talk about this lovely dye job done her hair.
Thanks 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
You are still using heat with the dryer. It looks nice. I love a roller set.
YES AND IS
Yes she's using heat but it's indirect heat which is a better alternative.
@@loveinautumn3978 YEP
As she mentioned, it's indirect heat.
@@loveinautumn3978 How is it "indirect"? Heat is blowing directly on the hair.
I used to wear roller sets all the time in the 90’s. I need to get back to it.
I just watched a video where the stylist did a roller set then flat ironed the hair. What sense it made was none. I love this❤
Girl… RUclips has me over here binge watching your videos! Because I watched ☝🏾, now all of your stuff keeps showing up in my feed today and I am watching and loving everything!🤷🏽♀️🤣 This girl really had me smiling at the end! She’s so pretty and I love how her hair turned out! Excellent work🙌🥇❤️
Wow her hair colour is amazing 😍😍😍
Yes it is 🙌🏾
This was beautiful I'm going to try this instead of repeated silk press
Her hair is beautiful. Love the color. U did an amazing job!!
Oh my goodness. I’m in Atlanta, GA USA I would love this on my hair. U did a great job on a beautiful woman!!!
Aw thank you 🙂
I love watching hair being done. I like it when the curlers come out. It looks so pretty. Bouncy and fully of life. Yes im not a fan of when its stick straight and fly away.
So simple and the results are lovely. Can't go wrong with a roller set 👌🏾👏🏾
Client is beautiful! Stylist is extraordinarily talented...
Thank you 😊
Finally a hair dresser that promotes roller setting👌🏾😘
Absolutely gorgeous - we don't see enough of this natural curl set with volume
Wow her hair came out flawless 😍 im going to def try this method thank you!
Ole skool Doobie Wrap
Her beauty & smile is just phenomenal as hair. Great job.👏
This is beautiful. Well done. I have actually straightened my hair without heat before. It hair dried. Even when I had perms I did my hair myself without sitting under the dryer.
I've never seen this method before. I'm very impressed. Her hair and color are so pretty. Great job!
She means direct heat people...geez. It's basically hot air blowing on her head which is not damaging. Beautiful!
The fact you call it "afro hair" tickles me. The end result took me back to HS in the 90s. Love it! 😍
Gorgeous head of hair absolutely love
Whoever did her color job did a beautiful job. It looks so good
Thank you 😊
Beautiful model and I love the style I use to get roller sets. You convinced me to start getting them again.
Her beautiful hair has great volume and shine!
She is beautiful and her hair is gorgeous🌸
Yes I agree. Thanks for your comment
Her hair looks so gorgeous!!!
I need to find these rollers. Love this
Same!
Tooth hair rollers😉

Her hair is so thick, pretty and healthy. And the color is nice too. 😍
I never tried a roller set. This is so easy and its beautiful and full. Love it👍
She looks sooo beautiful, Great Video
Id loved this style for my 4c hair!!!!!!
She looks beautiful. She was also beautiful before now she has the choice of different styles.
I love how low manipulation this is
OK... I read "no heat" but you have corrected this and I see that indirect heat is involved. Amazing results 👍👏🥰
Omg this is fabulous.
Omg I've been roller setting my hair for yrs, that's the only way my hair will hold curls. My hair texture is soft and wavy so roller set is my best friend.
Love this styling technique. I will try it instead of silk press, especially in the British weather. Model is a London beauty 😊
Ole skool Doobie Wrap
Where did you get your rollers from
I like this texture much better than a silk press. Would it work on 4c?
Yes. But it might not look as sleek, and you’ll likely see the texture around the root area.
Soo smaller sections, so that the hair can stretch as much as possible.
Full and bouncy. Very Pretty!
Love the results 🥰🥰🥰 Your model is the cutest & The colour job looks amazing!!
This is excellent! Wow! I am stunned! Congrats to the hairstylist.
She look so pretty.❤️
Wow I am shook. I have never seen this before!! In the comments they mention this is how Ethiopians style their hair and the one girl I met from Ethiopia had long straight afro hair so now I absolutely believe that. Liked and subscribed :)
Her hair is gorgeous!!!!!$
Rollers is what I used in my youth to set my hair. I'm glad it's comming back
Such a faithful tool 🔥🔥
Wow!! That is beautiful! Had no idea we could do this.
Yes you can!
