Girl that’s how I grew my hair, I’m an expert doing rollers, but I don’t use the clips to hold or the other part, I use the big Bobby pins that hold better, I put the Bobby pin all do the way to the back of the roller so my roots will be flat, and I use only comb with metal holder which help me to part my hair great! And most of the Bobby pins that has fuller end, are better bc when is going into your hair won’t hurt, and another tip is made sure the end of your hair is completely flat on the roller that’s very important! And go into the dryer in low heat , or medium not high, if ur hair is still wet at the end go back, and they sell a piece that u can put it all the way around to protect ur face and ears from the heat! Hope this helps my hair is pass waist length, and after my hair is dry, i do exactly what u did at the End of the video and the next morning while I put my creams I reverse All my hair to the front and I do only one roller with my fingers and Wao! Thanks for so many tips! I saw this face protector you mentioned! I haven’t used it because I use a low heat setting on my dryer, so my face is not hot at all but I wish I had one when I was a teenager going to the salon! That salon dryer is a different type of heat! My stylist had the ear covers but not the full face visor!
I do the same with the rollers with the Bobby pins. I don’t wrap my hair around after a comb it, I comb my hair back in a pony tail and next day, is wavy and nice. I would never use a plastic wrap on my dry hair, I use satin

My issue now is finding a good setting lotion, cream or oil that would help with keeping moisture in my hair. I live in the Midwest lots of humidity. Roller sets are definitely worth it. Maybe try Passions Curl Paste on top of your favorite moisture? I use it on my hair when it is slightly dampened by a cream, like Garnier Fructis Curl Air Dry cream or the Sleek and Smooth version, and a little of something with some oil in it. I put a dab in my hand, rub my palms together, and apply it with a praying motion for a thin even application. It's several thin layers of product each added for a different purpose, but I love how it sets and lasts - without making my hair feel stiff or crunchy. It feels like I have no styling products on it. It works for my edges and roots too. And it lasts.
The straight ends are from a combination of wrapping it with the brush and sitting under the hair dryer. If you want to retain the volume, try just wrapping it with the wide tooth comb (don’t smooth it so much, wrap it loosely). and tying it with a scarf.
Omg I used to love wrapping my hair! I’ve had locs for the past 15 years and I totally forgot how I used to love that part about having loose hair 😂 you just brought it back! ❤

We used to do this with the pink Dippity Do in the 60s. We used wire rollers and large Bobby pins. Don’t know how it would work in type 4 curls because my friends and I who did this had 3c hair to 2c hair. The large Bobby pin through the wire roller lets you get the roller snug to the root. It does take an hour or more to dry. Now I just use the Revlon blow dryer brush. I’m done in 30 minutes. But this is a great result. It must be completely dry. You can also wrap this after you take it down and that will pull the roots straighter. Also buy a mini flat iron and use it to touch up your edges. Keep the heat low.
This is fantastic! I wish I could see the results when someone with 4c hair does this, I doubt it would be THAT silky. I guess the best way to know would be to try it myself.
It looks so good!.. and healthy. You were so thorough with your tutorial.❤ I feel like I could do this after watching you, I know my arms will get so tired though!
oH YES, in the 70's we would use orange juice cans. We did not have the huge plastic curlers... or at least we didn't find them to buy. We'd wash our hair, towel dry, add Dippity-doo and smooth on a juice can once or twice around then add a can and stack the curlers! then wrap our head in a muslin dish cloth and roll up a towel for our neck at night. No pillows. we'd sleep on a neck roll. By morning our hair would be mostly dry. By stacking the curlers the root would be the straightest! you may try stacking and see if it works. Wavy ends are always nice. God bless you. and thanks for a great video.
I saw some old TV shows from the 60s where the characters appeared to use real rollers, I thought? I knew about those orange juice cans though and thought they went out by the 50s or 60s.
I need to get some clips. I just did a roller set using mousse but I didn’t get my roots flat enough and I didn’t wrap it. Wow it came out really nice. I love it.
Cone shaped magnetic rollers,…game changer. Link three different size cone shaped rollers together to create (1) six inch long tapered magnetic roller. Make seven large rollers. I part my hair, then section my whole head into 7 pie shaped slices. Smooth the section flat with Oribé Heatless Styling Balm and a fine tooth comb. Dampen the section to get it sleek without flyaways. Pin the ends wrapped on the small end of the taper, then spiral up to the largest size and pin the root down with a second double prong roller clip being mindful not to collapse the three rollers. Crease free clamps keep my part flat. I’m letting them set with a side part this morning while typing this, and used 3 on each side, and my top and bang is in a 7th roller. Been doing this since 1996 and you have found the healthiest option my hair has ever known. The Oribé Heatless Styling Balm makes the sections dry faster (1-2 hours without a bonnet or heat). Once dry, I use the Oribé Nourishing Oil to break up the cast. I prefer some flyaways & movement when I do a middle part with 4 on each side, but today is humid in Florida, so I’m planning to use KMS Anti Humidity spray to seal it in on top for a smoother Hollywood style wave. My rollers are “Pro Basic Marianna Smooth Magnetic Cone Roller Pack” (with 6 dozen assorted rollers per unit). Hope this helps, but just have fun with it and try new stuff. This never gets old. Just touched my top roller and I’m already nearly dry. The Oribé products can be a bit pricey, but I’m happy to cut out the dryer time now. When I rinse it out, it feels like a conditioner. My hair is a little longer and thicker than yours and I use 2-3 small pumps on damp hair for my whole head. Keep rolling,….

Girl you are a rollerset 👸🏽 i tried and i failed again and again i called a salon she told me my hair texture played a huge roll on my rollerset not coming out straight enough because i have 4a3c curls with coarse thick hair but I've seen hairstylist do rollersets on girls with 4c hair and their hair comes out straight without a flat iron so its obviously something im doing wrong so i dont have the patience for that anyway i brought me a healthy heat flat iorn and some straightening serum and called it a day Lol😂😭
Yes ! It depends on the texture. I believe you can blow dry and curl hair and then penn curl every night so you won’t have to curl hair every day saving your hair from heat damage . I have done it and it will last until next wash. You can apply heat to hair as long as it’s not too hot and excessive. I appreciate the suggestions but it’s usually from people that have 3A or 3B hair texture .
Wrong. Texture doesn't matter. As long as the hair is clean and conditioned, it's very wet and detangled, and you smooth the hair and tension it properly on the roller, the hair will be straight. Ofc it's harder than me saying it, but it's a very simple process.
The roller technique matters. Hair must be very wet. Cant squeeze more hair than the size of the roller. Plus she is doing the full base roller technique. That makes the roots straighter while drying.
Large bobby pins for the Doobie but NOT for the curlers the clips are your best best for ease of use as well as holding the curlers in place. I mean, you can try it but its diffcult to readjust when needed.
Wow it came out great. Are you ok with the heat damage? I have these rollers but never used them bcus they didn't come with anything to secure them. Can I purchase just the covers? If you have thick super curly hair do think this will work bcus girl this hair tangles like wool on the lamb
My heat damage is from flat irons and I’m not ok with it. That’s why I’m doing the roller sets with no flat irons now. You can secure the rollers with metal clips too! They are tagged on my Amazon link in the description
I just cut off 7 inches of flat iron damage but if you look at older videos, years back, my results are the same when I was moisture and curl training my hair.
1940's all over again. If your fortunate to have your great granny or great great they will tell you how to get it nice straight shinny with no flyaways.
This woman does not have coarse black hair so this will not work. The use of these form of curling the hair is new and used in the 70s and these curlers were used for years. At least you don't need chemicals or wigs.
I love your Technique. It is perfect. The only thing I think that will help you out with the flow of the roller, and not accidentally hitting others already done is the type of clip you use. The ones you are using were made for pin curls. The ones that have an open booty, are the correct clips and it also prevents needless snagging. Your hair is beautiful. I'm finna get back on mine. I was waiting on more length to work with. 🎉🎉🎉

@@tresstoimpress4224 IMO, some stylist do not pay attention to various hair textures. Same blow-dry or curling temperatures are not for all customers as well as hair products.
I'd like a 4c hair demonstration! Your hair is beautiful, tho!😊
Right! As soon as i saw her texture its giving heat damage ijs🙄...my natural curls are a beast!! I have to blow my hairout on low heat setting with a heat protector then i can use Nairobi setting lotion to achieve this look. Also the tension rollers work best on 4c hair! Good luck ladies...btw her hair looks amazing❤
My natural texture is curlier than this flat iron damaged mess that I’m dealing with in this video but even in my healthier hair days, the girlies told me I’m a 4a/4b at most. My 4c club card has been declined😂according to the comments over the years, it works on 4c texture but the products need to be different like using tension rollers rather than magnetic rollers and using end papers.
@@deefine1465 I make it known in my videos that my purpose for doing these rollers sets is because I am recovering my curls from flat iron heat damage and postpartum hair loss. This is also why I just cut 7 inches off a couple videos back.
@@deefine1465also I see that you inspired another 4c girlie in the comments with the tips up provided! I love to see it!🎉🎉🎉🎉
@@mischaraine1645 let me know on this post how it works out🙏 @tresstoimpress4224 Queen no disrespect i have done every type of damage to my head for years. Try apple cider vinegar rinses/bentonite clay for strengthening also aloevera juice as a daily and hopefully it will help you with your transition like it did 4me...much respect to u i dont have the courage to be a youtube influencer so i do respect u but what i do have is a plethra of experience 😉 bowing down to a black queen is np👑 i luv u and your success..
Peace and blessings to all of u🙏
I tried a wet set years ago on my natural hair, the roots were defiant girl! It was a fail! I have been wanting to straighten it without heat for awhile now. I will try it again. Your video has given me inspiration! Whats your upkeep at night?
I’ve had fails too! I just don’t post them so don’t be discouraged!
Stunning
Thanks!
I never stopped roller setting. I can’t really use curling iron or flat iron well .
It looks nice. How long total did you stay under the dryer?
2 hours if I'm under there from start to finish!
Looks cute! I cant get it snooth w clips so the snap will be my go to until i get better
Good luck!!
The large Bobby pins hold more securely than the silver clips for me, and I can set my hair quicker than with the clips.
I keep seeing others say that in the comments!
Beautiful ❤️
It looks beautiful. I'm going to try this.
Hope you like it!
I would like to find magnetic snap rollers that are smooth. I've got the purple, orange, and pink ones, and they all have rough edges.
Mine are smooth. They are linked on my Amazon store. Check out this list 🌀Roller Set Essentials from tresstoimpress www.amazon.com/shop/tresstoimpress/list/2FQH0Y59P7PZY?ref_=cm_sw_r_apin_aipsflist_aipsftresstoimpress_CK45ST9VC3N8H0AQYP88&language=en_US
Girl you are a rollerset 👸🏽 i tried and i failed again and again i called a salon she told me my hair texture played a huge roll on my rollerset not coming out straight enough because i have 4a3c curls with coarse thick hair but I've seen hairstylist do rollersets on girls with 4c hair and their hair comes out straight without a flat iron so its obviously something im doing wrong so i dont have the patience for that anyway i brought me a healthy heat flat iorn and some straightening serum and called it a day Lol😂😭
I’ve been doing this to my hair since middle school! Practice makes progress!
Me too I didn't get the best results but I will keep trying 😂
What was in that black spray can spray that you used on the side of your hair and brushed it down? Beautiful hair! ❤
Tresemme hair spray from target! Idk the details but it’s a medium hold.
A cross between Type 3c and Type4c(?) Appears to be that. That why the wash n set looks good
My healthy curls range from 3c to 4b is what the girlies on here have been telling me over the years!
Large bobby pins for the Doobie but NOT for the curlers the clips are your best best for ease of use as well as holding the curlers in place.
I mean, you can try it but its diffcult to readjust when needed.
Omg you took me back to my style in the 90s,…me and my friends!!! Wowww thank you! What hair type are you btw?
Idk, what would you guess?
@tresstoimpress4224
Idk , maybe Type B . Are you relaxed or have a keratin treatment?
Beautiful hair 😍 i thought you had a relaxer at first
I’m 11 years natural now but I did learn this style in my relaxer days!
Do you know why your roots look different...I thought transitioning or damage. My hair is the same but I don't know why.
Or texturized maybe? It looks texturized. Still beautiful..
Well your def heat trained, which is why it came out very nice. Not every natural can do this look either u have type 3 hair or your heat trained.
I just cut off 7 inches of flat iron damage but if you look at older videos, years back, my results are the same when I was moisture and curl training my hair.
1940's all over again. If your fortunate to have your great granny or great great they will tell you how to get it nice straight shinny with no flyaways.
I wish I had my granny's. All of them are gone and some were gone b4 I was born or shortly after my birth 😢
My mom was 80 when she passed and she told me to put clips at the roots
This woman does not have coarse black hair so this will not work. The use of these form of curling the hair is new and used in the 70s and these curlers were used for years.
At least you don't need chemicals or wigs.
Was born in 50's and grew up with this method, still doing it, no damaged/fried hair...
Thanks for the tip! Someone told me the opposite.
This has never ever worked for me. Now I realise it might be Bcos I roller set my hair whilst it’s dry, so it is always frizzy and coily altho stretched. Fingers crossed I can get a sleek style this way. I like how you are kinda brushing your hair with each round,
If the hair is not smooth and sticking to the roller and if you don’t get it bone dry, it will frizz every time!

But how do you maintain Your Hair during the week? Do you put oil or grease? Thanks you for Your video 😍😍😍👍🏼
Thanks for asking! I’ll make a video! I’m posting daily videos of it on Instagram too
A beautiful classy girl with pretty hair.
Wow, thank you
@@tresstoimpress4224 You're welcome
Do you get a similar result just from letting the rollers air dry? I'm guessing it takes a while to air dry.
I’ve never air dried start to finish, but same results if I air dry part of the way.
Hi your hair turned out beautiful what are the name of your eye patches ?
Idk but if you click the Amazon link in the description box, the eye gel pads are tagged on my lash supplies list. I hope that helps
Really pretty, I you could do my hair
Where did you get the clamps for those big magnetic rollers? I didn't see a link listed for them
Thanks for letting me know! I added them to the roller set essentials list on my Amazon link in the description box! Just for you! 🥰
Nice!
I love your video
Thanks, and thanks for tuning in!
Lovely❤
Thanks❤️❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful!❤
Thank you! 😊
Very beautiful ❤❤❤
if you have dense hair what size sections do you recommend? ty!
As small as possible while still rolling to the roots!!
