To be so young AND so talented! So much better than "top-40" garbage on the radio today.
On a business trip to Austin in 1995, I took my neph (an UoT student) to Antoine's for a beer. About 10:00pm, and to a half-filled bar - this skinny, long-haired kid (he was 18 at the time) came on with a drummer and bass player, and he just ripped the place apart. It was an unknown Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and he played his heart out. SRV, Johnny Lang, KWS - Texas grows some of the best, biggest-hearted, most humble, and IMO under-appreciated musicians anywhere!
i love this version of this song and kennys playing is AWSOME!!!!!
I think both Jimi and SRV would be proud and I'm sure they are both smiling down on this young man for keeping this music alive. Good job KWS. Cool guitar too man. Looks and sound.
Miguel de Sousa
I agree Noah has an awesome voice as well but this is all Kenny
Miguel de Sousa you've just nailed it with that comment this is just a ripping cover of a great song. Very talented is mr kws cheers 🍻
Haven't been here in awhile, and think KWS taking a leftie guitar (Hendrix) and turning it upside was a direct tribute to Jimi taking righties upside down. Very very cool tribute homage. Hats off to KWS. and this version is so good to come back .
A Tabish. - KWS is amazing but yes Noah's voice is really cool too.
Miguel de Sousa Noah has a great voice no doubt saw them here both are shorter than they appear lol Kenny s original vocalist on Ledbetter Corey Sterling was a great vocalist sadly lasted only one album enjoy the old videos with him
that voice is powerful man. perfect for the blues. I'm a heavy metal guy but damn do the blues sound sexy
Ryan Hickey except this is rock not blues
+Julien Prégent True enough, but what he hears is the significantly stronger Blues element that is missing from most Rock music since the 80s.
+Julien Prégent ... dude do u realize who jimi was
Of course i do. I saw him play live 2 times. He's a legend yes... but we're on a kws video
here
I agree. That singer has an amazing blues/rock voice.
He has one of the most incredible vibratos I've ever seen.
Double tribute...
RIP JH
RIP SRV
The lead singer has a similar voice to Hendrix. Awesome. Nice to see some older classic rock influence still being played out there.
Kenny has been playing guitar since age 9 he's one of the best young guitar players alive
3rd best rendition I've ever heard. Obviously that's a compliment considering he's only being out-done by Jimi and Stevie themselves. :)
Listen to Gary Moore's version of this....
I absolutely love Noah’s style!
Why many people even doubt he's a great player?! beside his great playing on this video, he had join the G3 which for me proves the he's really awesome
AHH those riffs are on fire, and your man's voice is meaner than a Dodge Ram's engine!
Saw Kenny play this live and it was amazing !
Kenny plays so pure...........I love it... so underrated
Saw them in Nashville at the Experience Hendrix concert in March 2012 and KWS was just AWESOME! What a great concert....Jonny Lang and KWS.....off the charts music.
KWS is blazin on this! Greatness.
Outstanding version!!!!

damm that intro was very well done! all around great job done on a great song!
what can say, other than, Wow! thank you for this video....
Didn't know KWS done this song. Thanks so much for sharing.
Awesome tone !!
Who are the people that are sharp as a bowling ball that don’t like this video good looard
Thanks for that interesting info!
@cityfire558 you tell it!!! Good music will never die!!!
Gives SRV a run for his money as far as a cover very well done 👏
Through his father's connections, KWS was able to meet SRV backstage when he was seven years old. SRV went on with the show, but with KWS sitting on his amp. With an experience like that, how could KWS not have turned out any other way?
Whatever you want to call it, stealing, or imitation, it is regardless the highest for of flattery and respect to the originator(s), and I think SRV, JH, and all other musicians would be proud to see what their influence turned this seven year old into.
My favorite version of this song.
this guy is awsome
Outstanding, we Love you JIMI, RIP Brother
KENNY SURE DOES, NAIL IT....HE GIVES IT TRUE JUSTICE!!! AWESOME! XXX
Seen KWS a few times and they are incredible. Awesome guitar playing. Vocals are great. The whole band is the real deal.
Well. l!!!!!! Perfect....and good vibes....long live to KWS!!!!
holy shit!!! AWESOME
Kenny is on fire in more than one way! He's got it all, looks, talent. Love his band too!
A very sweet and inoffensive tone!
Glad that this classic music is played by younger musicians; take a listen to Frank Marino's version of this song.
Saw him when he was 15 years old in Tucson. Incredible show Please keep SRV sacret.
best I have seen from him
Love Kenny Wayne... hands down one of the best blues/guitar players now, if not ever...would love to see him and Joe Bonamassa in a jam session!! Seen Joe twice and both of these guys definitely on my to do list!
this man shook my hand.....i had a convo with him......he saw me play.......and i am humbled
@BluesBoyJonny very well put
I like the singer. Great voice.
He kills it!!!
My favorite cover of Voodoo Chile is SRV but KWS does it justice.
+CharWV I do prefer srvs version I can't lie
I saw KWS play this live last summer when he opened for the 2015 Van Halen tour. Frikken awesome.
Agree completely.
....I saw him too on that tour...and he played this. I was floored. He did great!
ahepperl you can definitely tell he learned from the srv version... i know because i did the same, i know those exact licks are SRVs style
he sounds like SRV......damn....... respect
what an epic voice!
hell yeah. my fav half of double trouble.
nailed it!
If you have never seen them live go do it soon ! No one does it better.
awesome...just awesome
Fair play for the tribute to Jimi.Great playing by Kws till 3.24.Because then the songs soul and anarchic otherworldly energy, is lost and gone. Trying to add something to Jimis virtuosity?........Impossible and foolworthy. In the studio version he never lets up at all, till someone fades him out.Leaving your soul shaking, clamouring for more.True genius........... never be....equalled....or heard again..... in that genre.
Sounds pretty perfect to me
Not bad for an " Oldie ". Imagine when we heard the original 50 years ago. Everyone should own the Electric Ladyland album.
Love Kenny Wayne Sheperd
It's so pathetic that nobody can just enjoy the music these days, its always a debate on who's better than who....he's doing what he loves and ill bet he is 100% more satisfied in life than any of you will ever be
Oh yeah...superb
@levinlevinallday You should see him live in person, rather than on the web... Much better experience. I saw him sometime in the Winter last year and all I have to say is that it was just awesome!
that's Stevie Rays drummer back there I'd say he knows that tune inside out lol
Hell Yea!!
3:27
that's some phat tone and great playing! awesome!
1 Word - Sick!
I like it.!
Kenny's dad was a DJ in Shreveport, LA.. I believe he became and is still his manager! He promoted him well and KWS can play thoses strings!
el mejor cover q he visto
Note the Dick Dale-style Strat he's playing - Left-handed neck on a Right-handed body.
i like the look and soundof it sounds great
That's Noah Hunt singing! He and Kenny sound great together!
oldie but goodie...yowsa!!!
Yeah I like it!!!
I'm a Kenny Wayne fan. With that being said, I consider this a valiant effort, but NOBODY will ever be able to pull off the tone, and more importantly, THE FIRE that SRV poured into this song!! Anybody who wants to try it, I say go ahead, but just know it will never be as good as Stevie's WORST time playing it! I know I will piss a lot of people off by saying it, but there are many more that will agree....you know Chris Layton is thinking it as he plays behind Kenny....written all over his face. Chris saying to himself "Stevie really set the bar, but I'll help Kenny make a run at it!". At the end, Kenny saying to himself, "Damn, that's all I got! Only one I'll really impress is the only one that never heard Stevie's version!" Kenny definately "playing" the notes, but not "HITTING" the notes like Stevie. Missing the FIRE and the FURY in my opinion. Kenny is an awesome guitarist though. I got to see him once when his first record was out. Played a hole-in-the-wall club in Johnson City, TN called Rafter's. After the show he signed some autographs and was really cool.
Awesome cover :)
Jimi Hendrix is pure legend :)
He is so damn talented!!!!
Fcuking Amazing!!!
like it!!
well said
this guy can rock, how many guit players can even come close?
Ya I agree, although the Stevie style is one in a million, give us something we haven't heard! or seen!
I miss the power in his play.
The second coming of Stevie Ray Vaughn!!!! MR.KENNY WAYNE SHEPARD!!! Play on brother!!!
SRV does the absolute best Jimi covers. If anything, makes them better than the original. KWS and John Mayer are the only people besides SRV that completely nail voodoo child
✌🎸🎶Nice!
KWS is a great show live..
i agree
Damn!!!!!!!
Sick as fuck!!! love that style!!!
Only the best
John Mayer @ Red Rocks 2010, that's some real shit:)
Jimmy and Stevie would be proud.
Voodoo Chile is actually originally called Catfish Blues and played in 67'. jimi was paying respect to muddy waters! Voodoo child was recorded in 68'.
Damm buetiful....
