Wicked to see Layton getting some recognition. SRV knew how lucky he was with his band 100%. Seeing Chris in a context where he's required to stretch his legs a bit more in terms of song styles is very cool. Makes you appreciate how well rounded a musician he is! What a groovy drummer too. Tones of pocket, can pull out the flashy fills if it suits, but sits back in the beat and just pushes the songs along. Bands are only as good as their drummer and us guitarists, we dream of having a drummer of his caliber to play off!

@@lastwhtknight3002 How can you listen to this and not also hear how talented the dudes in SRVs band were? I'm taking nothing away from SRV. I'm a huge fan. He's the only guitarist who made me put my guitar down for two months when I first heard him. I was playing 8 hours a day at that time! He had a huge impact on me. Even SRV has said in interviews, that as much as he loved to jam with his heroes, he'd always miss his band. Layton deserves huge credit and qudos for his talents as do Reese and Tommy, they locked in in a special way and provided a perfect foundation for SRV to shine with/on

Unfortunately Mitch. might of had too much to drink and couldn’t sit in for long on another drum set and play along with Chris.. I later met Mitch outside where he signed my program. Chris has one of Mitch Mitchell’s Ludwig Supraphonic snare drums that Mitch’s widow gave to Chris.

K keeps it "simple" coz he's trying to replicate Stevie...the GOAT....inc using poor whipper on drums...an piano/organist...only added a singer ...weird looking for such a band at that, he cud go solo he's got a good voice....an couple of horns to plump it out...more like a half decent Impersonation/Tribute band!
K does nothing for me...his music merges into one long boring noise....its laughable when he starts gaping his mouth/turning hid to the right/closing his eyes and now the stupo hat like Stevie...no charisma...nothing makes me get excited with anything he plays...its background muzac....soz...im a great fan of SRV & was really excited when i heard of Kenny...what a sad disappointment....esp as hes getting such praise for a pathetic shadow dance of the greats like Stevie n Hendrix....As i see it a good Tribute band ...he wont be remembered like Stevie, Hendrix , Joplin , Elvis etc...look at the impact they had an in SRVs case he was only on the popular scene for a few yrs yet is STILL revered & missed.

Kenny plays almost NOTHING like SRV....his use of "similar" blues licks is coincidentally standard within the genre. If Kenny sounds anything like someone else it's Johnny Winter!....Johnny played a lot more slide based stuff, but the style is unmistakable...the TONE is slightly different due to the difference in instruments, but the Bridge humbucker is COMPLETELY different from Stevie's "cleaner " tone, and when Kenny starts to wail his technique and choice of phrasing in no way resembles anything Stevie would pull out of his hat.

Kenny’s main solo in “shame shame shame” is most certainly a reemphasized version of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s main solo in the live versions of Texas flood. Very very very awesome that Kenny has brought SRV’s Solo Fire into the 21st century with a vengeance and with just as much if not more bang then Stevie did. Kenny is the only blues guitar player that could ever legitimately take the stage with Stevie and actually have a chance at being equal or better than the man himself SRV......... Not to mention with the hat & ponytail working for him and his choice of guitars only rivals SRV!!!!!!!

Soz...probably laughing...it’s like an impersonation tribute band...like the Elvis lot! Yes K is technically good but please let’s get real...no matter how much people want to see k as carrying on his torch....he’s playing at it, no disrespect to kennys playing ...it’s sometimes a tad ridiculous. I really tried to like him but he bores me. The long haired guy, Noah is just weird ....looks uncomfortable a lot of the time then K goes into his fake ‘channelling’ mode, mouth gaping, eyes closed like Stevie but it doesn’t ring true...he’s still there acting the part...an now the hat!!! Omg he’ll be doing Stevies hunched shuffle next....think poor Chris is looking to capture the glory days of Double Trouble but it just isn’t. K was lucky to get him. Last concert I also noticed K shouting at the end of a song “thankyou very much” EXACTLY in the same intonation as Stevie, pretty sad. But he’s popular...good luck to him but KWS...IS NOT SRV, It’s KennyWants to be Stevie....even using his 3 initials...why!!? Stevie admired Hendrix but never called himself Vaughan & dress/act like him....he developed his own very distinct style while paying homage to him & others, Kenny is trying to be Stevie...rock on K 🤤😴

Regarding a few comments on the mix, the guitar volume is fine. Kenny's tone isn't the most cutting around and turning it up would just overwhelm everything else. Also, like all the Rockpalast shows I've seen the sound is heavily compressed for TV broadcast so nothing really stands out. That said I'd prefer the band without the horn section but if that's the sound KWS wants at the moment then good luck to him.

After seeing this high-schooler play, we all had a sense that we’d hear more of him in the future. Well, that 14-year-old kid was Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
