I was at that concert that night at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Kenny and the band were awesome.. and so was his opening act, Samantha Fish. Great night of great music.
He just played the Ryman again tonight (2/24/24) with Samatha Fish and Jesse Dayton as the opening act. It was an incredible show. I wish I could’ve been at 2024 show too.
Great episode! From being unable to afford a (then reasonably priced!) vintage Strat to owning multiple Dumbles. Yet still being humble, appreciative of the journey he's been on and into the gear like all of us. Love it. Well earned KWS, well earned mate!
I saw this guy live for the first time yesterday. I knew he was good but I had no idea what I was in for. Recordings do not do this man justice. He has to be heard live to be fully appreciated. He is a most extraordinary talent, and I cannot say enough good things about him.
I remember seeing Kenny play when he was just a boy. He has been making magic ever since he picked up the guitar ! Keep playin and looking forward to the next album !
HE IS SUCH A MONSTER player and down to earth player...i love the "all i need is just one" attitude...where as I want 1000 of them and cant play for crap...
Kenny is such an awesome kat. A couple weeks after the May 2013 tornado in Moore Oklahoma, Kenny was doing a show in Moore, and turned it into a benefit show with his band (including Chris Layton on the drums), Brad Whitford, Robert Randolph, Keb Mo, and Trampled Under Foot. Kenny and his band were on stage for over four hours that night playing with all of those great players. They had t-shirts made and also put some autographed items, including a guitar, up for auction at the show...all proceeds went to the food bank to aid the victims of the tornado. This was for a town that none of them had a connection to; just merely out of the goodness of their own hearts. Keb Mo titled his 2019 record "Oklahoma" after being inspired by that show he participated in. I will never forget the generosity and the humanity that Kenny's band, Brad, Robert, Keb, and the members of Trampled Under Foot displayed that night.
Love these moments. The guys are confident and talk with passion, it balances so much all the bad behaviors of pseudo-stars everywhere. Thank you for that.
I remember the first RR with Kenny and it was INTENSE. Kenny just oozes love for his craft and everything that contributed to his mojo. It is so apparent. I actually put off listening to this new RR until I was "ready" to absorb the experience of Kenny. Wow I'm glad I waited and im so appreciative to PG and TB for just delivering another amazing experience of one of the best players on God's good earth. Sincere thanks to KWS for his open book excitement to share his approach to the instrument we all love 💕. You sound amazing Kenny and are so on fire you are an inspiration to us all . Can't wait for the next KWS RR. Live long and prosper sir! Wanted to add... As far as length of RR shpws, I'm a total nerd and wouldn't care if the artist wanted to talk about any aspect of his rig and how he makes music. It is an honor to listen to the people I admire speak openly about their process and equipment. Even if you did a part 1 and part 2 . If the artist is not rushed I am amazed at how much I get out of it regardless of I use some ideas or just get inspired to play more myself. Thank you again PG and RR team.
I wouldn’t ever guess he couldnt afford a Vintage guitar in his youth. In MY 20’s I lived a few miles up Sunset from that GC. That story of his dad & lawyer splitting the price is really cool. He always seems like a Humble guy.
I love KWS playing, I have seen him 3 times, but he is STONED in this interview, it is kinda funny to see him a little closed eyed and wobbly standing.
strat heaven!!!!!! got my first Player today....... w/ ebony neck!!!!!! what a history this guitar has..... KWS is like a StratoCaster Preacher..... the Church of Leo......
What a great guy! He exudes music just speaking. I recently caught his show in Atlanta. He has such control of his tones. He played an opening number, and extracted more than a few different tones, and I told the wife, he must have someone doing his switches, but low and behold, I was wrong. He was wringing it out with his hands. A guitar God, as my wife said!
Funny, I was thinking that. But I think John's a good interviewer because he knows when to let his interviewee just roll. His Neil Giraldo rig rundown is a classic because Neil spent most of it telling amusing anecdotes about his career and barely mentioned his gear! 😁
Heard these guitars and amps sing last night. Saw him 2 times 25 years ago in a small ballroom. Casino theater last night. WOW !! Scored a limited edition autographed Vinyl too !! His new signature strat is starting to wear just like the rest !!
Another Great video, I remember the first one of these with Kenny. I love the story about Dumble and the creation of the amps. He will surely be missed, but his legacy lives through stories and artist like Kenny.
Part of the story about Dumble that’s cool is that he builds personalized amps. That’s also a negative, because once that person passes on that amp is now ownerless. It’s also brings into question why anyone would want one second hand… it’s not made for you. I mean, I get it, it’s a piece of gear made by the best amp builder probably ever. I don’t know, hopefully this makes sense.
The horn & woofer spinning in that Leslie is one of the best parts of the interview... I saw him many times live in Nashville back in the day. KWS rocks!
FINALLY! I asked about this right after his first concert here in his hometown, Shreveport, LA last year! John jumped in and said yall had something in the works. 1 thing is that Kenny absolutely LOVES talking about gear lol. Loves it. 🤣 THANK YOU!
Much respect for KWS. I swear he sounds just like one of the guys you’ve run with all your life. Just a salt of the earth good dude & would fit right in with your pack at anytime, anywhere. 👍
"It's all play wear" Dude, with the chunks out of the upper horn on that strat around the cutaway, you're either picking with a chisel or a belt sander.

Amazing, Thank You Premier Guitar.
Kenny seems like such a great person. I love that he does these and is so open.
John rocking "THE JACKET!!! 🤌"
This young man is the quintessential gentleman. His enthusiasm is contagious. Great interview.
I was at that concert that night at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Kenny and the band were awesome.. and so was his opening act, Samantha Fish. Great night of great music.
she is great and I would've loved to have seen that show
Wow great wish I was you brother!
He just played the Ryman again tonight (2/24/24) with Samatha Fish and Jesse Dayton as the opening act. It was an incredible show. I wish I could’ve been at 2024 show too.
Samantha Fish with Kenny Wayne Shepard, oh man that concert must have blown the top off
Great episode! From being unable to afford a (then reasonably priced!) vintage Strat to owning multiple Dumbles. Yet still being humble, appreciative of the journey he's been on and into the gear like all of us. Love it. Well earned KWS, well earned mate!
KWS is like your buddy that’s a blues master. Seems like a good dude to hang with.
Its like talking Hot Rods with a bud...
🤡
This was such a great episode. Kenny Wayne is just a wonderful musician and personality.
John is the perfect guy to do this job. Great video
I saw this guy live for the first time yesterday. I knew he was good but I had no idea what I was in for. Recordings do not do this man justice. He has to be heard live to be fully appreciated. He is a most extraordinary talent, and I cannot say enough good things about him.
Kenny does the best interviews. Seems like a sincere dude. I’m happy for his success.
I remember seeing Kenny play when he was just a boy. He has been making magic ever since he picked up the guitar ! Keep playin and looking forward to the next album !
Same! I watched him play at all sorts of places here in Shreveport. The Red River Revel being one of the main ones.
I saw him in Atlanta when he was 17 years old and Ledbetter Heights had just been released..... Amazing then and better now
Me too. Saw him many times in Shreveport La at Proud Mary’s. Damn I’m getting old
Saw him open for Van Halen- I think he was 17. He absolutely killed it- crowd went nuts.
@@butcho7492 yeah he’s been a badass since his pubescent years for sure. Such a humble genuine dude too
That LP is sooo clean, almost looks like a reissue.
I remember seeing Kenny back in the 90's when he was a kid opening up for Satch and Vai on the G3 tours, those were great shows! Awesome player!
KWS is one of the coolest guitar players IMO. This dude is the reason i wanted to play a strat.
I could listen to Kenny talk guitars all day
KWS is a wealth of information and talent.
"They put 10 on there cause they want you use it!" - KWS, brilliant!! I love this. Thanks for this video!
I love his passion not just for each guitar, but for the stories behind them.
HE IS SUCH A MONSTER player and down to earth player...i love the "all i need is just one" attitude...where as I want 1000 of them and cant play for crap...
Kenny Wayne passion for what he do is impressive. Thanks a lot!!!
tone or tone!!

I know KWS from our hometown, and very happy to see him do this with such eloquence and style. It makes me proud.
I wouldn’t ever guess he couldnt afford a Vintage guitar in his youth. In MY 20’s I lived a few miles up Sunset from that GC. That story of his dad & lawyer splitting the price is really cool. He always seems like a Humble guy.

Kenny has such a passion it's great that he is willing to share with us.
I want the jacket rundown
LOVE this guy to pieces. He is the real thing, and what the heck, his talent wails!
Kenny Wayne seems like an old pro at Rig Rundowns. You can tell he loves what he does. Just a treat to watch this!
Those amps are freakin' INCREDIBLE!
What a chill dude
Fantastic episode, Kenny has such passion for his gear and playing, just marvellous 😄
some of the best strat tone ive ever heard in the intro
Kenny seems like a really nice down to earth guy.
Kenny is so engaging and knowledgeable.
I saw him open for ZZ Top in the early 2000's and he was awesome!
This was my favorite rig rundown in a long time. Kenny seems like an incredibly cool person with some amazing gear.
strat heaven!!!!!! got my first Player today....... w/ ebony neck!!!!!! what a history this guitar has..... KWS is like a StratoCaster Preacher..... the Church of Leo......
Woa!
This guy sure talk´s alot..
He shoul'd play more..!
Kenny and Phillip Sayce have the best Strat tone around! 🎸
True. People overlook Sayce.
I've heard Phillip Sayce's name thrown around but I've never listened to him
@@DatMetalBoi75
Please give this a look. A nice introduction to Sayce, and of course the mighty Jeff Healey.

As a Fender / Strat guy... I've watched the first KWS rig rundown like a hundred times. And this is equally good...
Love Kenny. Still has that Louisiana in him.
This is a guy you could sit down with and talk guitars and amps for hours. Thanks for the pointers. Love your tone.
Digging the Sonic Blue siggy strat... play on KWS!
“I think my previous rundown was one of the longest, like 47 minutes”
…and makes another one of 40 🥲🥲🥲 such a nice guy!
Saw KWS last night, incredible show! Amazing player!
What a great guy! He exudes music just speaking.
I recently caught his show in Atlanta.

G3 Concert at Arlene schnitzer concert hall in Portland, Oregon was the first time seeing KWS, with Joe and Steve. Ive been a fan since!
What an interview! John said 4 words.🤣🤣
Funny, I was thinking that. But I think John's a good interviewer because he knows when to let his interviewee just roll. His Neil Giraldo rig rundown is a classic because Neil spent most of it telling amusing anecdotes about his career and barely mentioned his gear! 😁
Saw him at St Andrews Hall in Michigan when he was really taking off with Blue on Black. His shows are hammer down. Been a fan ever since.
KWS is the real deal
I wanted to hear him play the dumble no band. That would be so great
First time i saw and heard him he was a teenager,,...crazy...cool hes still going...
KWS. He seems so nice and very knowledgeable about his craft. Well done!
KWS is my favorite guitarist.
Heard these guitars and amps sing last night. Saw him 2 times 25 years ago in a small ballroom.
Casino theater last night. WOW !! Scored a limited edition autographed Vinyl too !!
His new signature strat is starting to wear just like the rest !!
I love the Dumble stories and the sleeper BM amps. It's great that KWS had that relationship.
One of the best to ever do it and one of the best live performers out there RIGHT NOW.
Another Great video, I remember the first one of these with Kenny. I love the story about Dumble and the creation of the amps. He will surely be missed, but his legacy lives through stories and artist like Kenny.

The horn & woofer spinning in that Leslie is one of the best parts of the interview... I saw him many times live in Nashville back in the day. KWS rocks!
Very very cool.. Thank you so much premier guitar and KWS. Appreciate it very much.
Going to see him June 21st. Stoked
Love this kid. Super enjoyable interview. Listened to the whole thing
Love the Dumble stories! Love KWS!
I find it a struggle to decide whether to concentrate on the artist or Bollinger. His mannerisms are intriguing
John bohlinger is the perfect guy for this job.. seems like such a cool dude
Hey Mr Bollinger, you are looking very fit and healthy, look like you’ve lost some weight, oh, and nice jacket.
One of the best episodes ever.
👍👍👍
This was bloody awesome, KWS is brilliant
Kenny is such a cool dude and a great player. I really enjoyed watching this interview.
thanks for watching!
The OG of modern blues!
Incredible musician. His merch person is a friend of mine. Saw him in Connecticut in 2022 and Charleston, SC in 2023.
Great video, thanks !!!
That talk about the late Alexander Dumble was gold.
Great episode. I've seen Kenny Wayne Shepherd & his band a couple of times and they are brilliant.
Awesome person.
FINALLY! I asked about this right after his first concert here in his hometown, Shreveport, LA last year! John jumped in and said yall had something in the works. 1 thing is that Kenny absolutely LOVES talking about gear lol. Loves it. 🤣

Really enjoyed this one. Kenny is fun to listen to.
Got his latest signature strat, I think I’ve never played a better strat out of all those i tried ! It feels vintage already:)
Rock.On and On.
Awesomeness. You were killer in Tulsa for first time seeing you
Definitely wanna see you more often
What a cool dude. Kenny's pretty cool, too:-)
Way cool man. KW is real cool guy and John has the coolest videos man.
Kenny is legit. Awesome player. His passion for guitar is inspiring.
he's a cool dude. this was rad.
Very enjoyable and informative installment of the Tight Pants - Loose Jacket Show.
Great one, Kenny is so genuine dude
Still regret not seeing him live a couple years back just down the road, will have to make up for it soon!
Wow ! Great rundown. Excellent detail. The best rig rundown I have seen.I saw Kenny on the 1st G3 tour . He was new and played great.
"It's all play wear"
Dude, with the chunks out of the upper horn on that strat around the cutaway, you're either picking with a chisel or a belt sander.
Are you a touring musician?
What a amazing guitar sound, one of the greatest shows I've ever seen here in Brazil, not just the guitar but the whole band sounds gigantic!!!
John Bohlinger: "Congrats!"
Damn he explains Mr. Dumble’s madness perfect
I love the way beat up sunburst looks
John could barely get a word in edgewise! What a great storyteller, love to hear all the details about his gear.
Kenny W.S. and Jonny Lang were my first introductions to blues music when I was a kid. Before I knew oldskul blues guitarists...
ya, they kinda revived it ..after the passing of SRV
