Great job on the narration! You have a very professional style, not just reading but actually acting without OVERacting.
And first-rate production too.
My favorite of all his stories, and you have done it very well. Scottish oratory is always carefully crafted, and it is appreciated by this listener.

I had all Conan books but I’m out of country so they are well out of my reach, thanks so much for doing these stories that never get old!
I have compilations of them, but they're in storage as i'm trying to move house. Luckily they are available on archive.org
I was just browsing on here and I thought I wonder if anyone has uploaded any of the audiobooks and omg was I ever happy!!!!
Why is the disclaimer stating that the Conan stories are meant for a mature audience? - No they're not!
I was reading Conan stories when I was 12/13 years old! Loved every one of them!
If I choose mature literature, it would be Tolstoy, Wilbur Smith, Tom Sharpe or even Philip K Dick! Definitely not good old Bobby! Good as he is as a teller of tales, this ain't mature reading!
javier: I remember Frank Frazetta's great artwork gracing the paperback covers. My God, over half a century ago.
This is an absolutely marvelous tellng of this wonderful tale! It is whole and unabridged. The narration is wonderful, very in keeping with the tone and language of the story, easy to listen to. The very best audio of this REH story.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Howard's first completed Conan story. Great introduction (even though it's out of order. It took the paperbacks reprints to released them in chronological order)
Again, loved the accent you give the characters.
They were published out of order because they were written out of order.
@@angelsegarra1908 True. They were written out of order in Howard's submissions to Weird Tales magazines. When they got reprinted in the paperbacks they were printed in chronological order.
I think Howard's explanation was Conan was like an old soldier recounting his life. Talking to those kind of people in real life they sometimes tell their tales out of order.
What you are doing with dramatizing these stories is my favorite on the internet. Great work.
Happy 90th Birthday to this, the first published Conan the Barbarian story!
indeed it was, based on the Kull story 'By This Ax I Rule'
This tale gives me strength.....thank you...beyond black River perhaps...great channel name too friend
I'm deeply impressed by the reading of these. Thank you. So relaxing listening in a dark room before bed. Thank you again.
Finally a legit narration. So many bad narrations of this out there. This style fits. Rough graveling voice with proper spacing. Well done. Sick of narrators making Conan stories sound like poorly done broadway plays, overdramatized.
59 this year grew up on conan best ever reading as a youth
Check out omnibus
A short but awesome story and awesomely narrated
Metal 🤘
Man ... This stuff really reminds me of the red ladies wraiths than killed renly Baratheon... I felt like we were in Essos, as a fan of ASOIAF and Lovecraft and Tolkien, it's amazing to see the influence Conan has had!
The poem at the end was so epic
Thank you, yeah, we like the one that begins 'Pool of the Black Ones' too.
A great adaptation of one of my favorite adventure series, excellent narration and voice acting!
Ahh, I noticed the change of voice tone for Conan in his middle age. Your attention to detail is amazing!
Your professional voice acting really adds to the story. I look foreword to hearing your other audiobooks.
and this is one of our older recordings, we think we've improved since then :)
I believe this was adapted from Howard's "By This Axe I Rule." One of his "King Kull," stories.
it was indeed, we almost started doing 'by this ax i rule' but it was far too similar to this, though it has been a while since we released this so it might be a good time to revisit it
Loving this adaptation, Sir! Looking forward to more soon !
This is fantastic! Too bad none of the Barsoom books are on the public access because Burroughs would be great with this narrator! Of course, I dont know if you would even care to read those- a Conan fan is never necessarily also a John Carter fan. I think Conan has a slightly more complex character than John Carter though they are birds of a feather, I think Carter has more humility and willingness to give others part of the glory while both he and Conan rarely lose, sometimes its Conan's lack of humility that makes me root for just a little of it to be pounded into him...by a worthy foe of course!
I fear to think who I would've become without the bounteous worlds, inspiring adventures and old-fashioned chivalric concepts I learned as a kid reading Burroughs and Anthony, Brooks, Tolkien of course, Le Guin, McCaffrey. I never discovered Conan til the movie -i think it was actually Destroyer too and I never even saw the first one for a long time! and by then my novel reading days were over in favor of full-blown stumbling through real life. Killer job on these anyway!
We have looked into Burroughs before. The public domain on it is subjective by country, but the other issue is that they are usually novel length. We've put thought into novel length stories, like Hour of the Dragon, but we may consider a Kickstart or Patreon to work on a project that size.
This was great! Wonderful production, can’t wait to dig into more!
Thank you, plenty more on our Conan playlist...

too true :)
My precious...
I really enjoyed your narration. I am finally doing a deep dive into Conan and will give more of your content a listen when I can. I’m glad I started here. Haha
Please do!

FANTASTIC reading! I am 26 and FREAKING love the works of Robert E. Howard and other pulp sci-fi fantasy greats. Is there any way I can download this or perhaps pay a fee and buy the readings for my own personal enjoyment?

@@TheCybrarian Thank you so much!
Very good reading!
Wonderful rendition! Thanks.⚔️🛡️☠️🧙🐙
Inspired HeMan!
Great job.
These are all so good
Keep doing this great work
thanks for uploading!
Massive telling, well done!
Please excuse my ignorance but what is the next story in this series?
The Phoenix on the Sword was the first Conan story written by REH but in the chronology of the character it is the last REH story in Conans life (our playlist in in chronological order for the character) but there are other authors that have continued Conans timeline.
Thanks for making this. Well done
Our pleasure!
We have many more to enjoy.

Nice treatment. Somberly dramatic yet uncaricatured. Refreshing - HONOR be upon you.

awesome voice bro!!
Amazing how this story reminds me of the assassination of Gaumata the Magus by Darius and his 6 conspirators.
REH did take a lot of inspiration from history
@@TheCybrarian I agree. It really made him one of the best, and criminally underrated, fictional writers ever.
Good job.
superb!
By Crom that was a lusty tale.... I mean that was a really good story.
Awesome Job !
Was that supposed to be the God Thoth that Conan was Interacting with? If so, its more than a little weird that he would had been the one battling Set whom
by the sounds of it is Robert's version of Apep/Jurmengarde witch fits the Black Snake coiling around the world description quite a ways better. You'd
think it would've been Horus as the Ancient Conan bumps into! 'I Strove with Set by Fire and Steel' is an amazing phrase though. (Better than Gods of Egypt Movie.)
don't think so, just an anceint wizard,
this story was originally a Kull story called 'By thie axe, I rule' and it's almost identical,
and the name Thoth-Amon was used as the wizard foe at the start of Conan the Destroyer movie
@@TheCybrarian Thanks for clarifying. So
he was an Wizard, not an God. I've been
wanting to research Conan, a bit so this
channel has been really helpful. (I do feel
like I want to see that first movie again!)

RUSH IN AND DIE DOGS! I WAS A MAN BEFORE I WAS A KING!
Thanks ❤
Is this Toth Amon of the ring the same one that conjured up the demon in the treasure of tranicos? The one that curses valenso?
yes indeed, and the same name was used for the wizard near the start of the Conan the destroyer film
I am the greatest Conan fan of all time and know more than all fans combined
