I always like to watch your vids. I knew these infos, but watched anyway :) The other day I was experiencing with the PAD switch, and I noticed, that although the level went down, the noise level stayed the same. Does it work the same way with the Yamaha, or its just my mixer? (Phonic AM6GE) Thanks! :)
@@kettnercreative I am still undecided between getting the MG10xu and the Mackie pro fx 10 v 3. The Yamaha has 4 pad buttons whereas the Mackie has 2 Hi-z buttons. How do the pad buttons differ from the hi-z? While I know I can connect guitars to the Mackie, there are only 2 channels with Hi-z connections. Can I connect my guitars directly to the Yamaha unit and will those pad buttons work like the Hi-z buttons or am I wrong altogether?
thank you!!! i have tried to record my drums and always had to turn each line down because of peaking. Doing this made my volume too low for each drum mic. I will try this on my interface.
Thanks! So if I understand you correctly it's not as simple as Pad pushed in = line input and pad not pushed in = mic input? You need to test both? I've been trying to connect my DJ equipment to this mixer via XLR and been really confused by all the dial and button combinatinations to be honest 😐
I use drum machines and synths, i record USB output into computer. I always have to boost my recordings in post by %500 they come in flatlined. All my stuff has signal noise and fuzz. Any help ? am i doing somthing wrong i cant seem to change my record input level
Nice! I really appreciate ur videos! Just bought an mg10xuf still the same except with the faders and pfl. Can u please do a video about how to use the stereo mute button near the monitor knob? Thanks!
@@kettnercreative its fine! But right now, im kinda lost on how to use the stereo mute button, which i believe, is just the same from the mg10xu model.
@@harveyrivassss If the Stereo Mute button is on it will mute the output from the Monitor Out jack and the Headphone Jack since this mutes the sound of the stereo bus.
I’ve just bought a Yamaha 206u usb, it’s a few years old and doesn’t have a pad button like my MG10. I use PAD button on mics, will I still be able to EQ without the pad button :)
Hi! I'm recording drums and having issues when I use rimshots in the snare someone told me about using the PAD button but my interface doesn't have is there something else that works similar to having that button? I'll appreciate any other advice.
Yes and no. It doesn't actually reduce the input signal, but instead the 1/4" inputs on most audio mixers are expecting a line-level input. Depending on your situation this could be a work-around to make things work for you.
I bought my MG10XU CV last week and I was up and running in ten minutes with an input and USB, thank you for your videos!
Thanks for the comment. This makes me very happy!
Thanks for the excellent tutorial, I bought the Yamaha mixer based on your recommendations and you videos have really helped me get the best from it
One of the best channels I discovered this year! Thanks for your content
Thank you so much this helps out allot for our church set up..
Thank you! Using MG16XU and this helps get me deeper than the manual.

Tried it and it worked perfectly, thanks
Hi mate. Thanks very much. No need to watch any other videos on this. Helped me to easily record a guitar with hot as hell pickups 👍
Always wondered what it was for! Helpful vid, liked.

Can the pad be used if you want to increase gain to add a little preamp saturation to the sound?
Unless you have an external tube preamp, I wouldn’t aim for cream saturation on a mixer like this. You’ll get more noise than benefit.
Super helpful, thanks!

I love my Yamaha mixer, I use it for karaoke and it has been great!
Is PAD and HPF relavent to a plugged in guitar.
Why is it when I connect my dj controller that has XLR outputs. I hear it on both speakers, even when I turn the pan dial left or right?
Make sure you're mono/stereo button is set to stereo
Fantastic! Thanks! 🎸😃
Can I connect an electronic drum kit and a guitar?
What is band stop filter????

Is it possible to connect the main xlr output to a power amplifier, using the mixer as a preamp?

Hey I got a question I got the at4040 microphone I'm recording music/ vocals should I set it at 0db ?
Yeah. Zero db on your mixer will translate to -12dB in you audio software, which is perfect.
