Tbh the exterior has aged really really well. Like I would not want them to update it. Seriously, it looks great. The Nismo version at least. However, the interior really does need an update.
Well over the years Iv'e owned 3 of these fine cars.Even the older heavy tanks that were better as a static display. So the interior of my new 2016 370 ZX TA is still fascinating and learning experience. If you read the manual, which you can't because you smoke too much dope, all will become known.
I've always felt that people that drive 370Z's enjoy driving a car that you don't see every day. I see Mustangs everywhere but rarely see another 370Z on the road. I'm not saying that the 370Z is the most rare car out there. But it's definitely not the most common car out there.
Exactly. Even better if you were able to score a non black/silver/white one, as those colors were usually only made for certain years and rarely exceed 300 units.
Yep the dealership I bought my 2015 at had a macaroni & cheese colored 370, was nice. Also saw a burnt red one with dark grey wheels. Also nice. But colors are not my worry, it is an aged engine platform.
Nikhil Manjunath I’ve subscribed to your page!!! Your videos of that car are awesome, it looks so fast around those corners. My favorite video is of your red car at the beach!!!
Even in stock form the Z is fun to drive, but get a good cat back exhaust and a tune and the car truly comes to life. The handling is so good. You can go 100 mph + through the twisties and the car just feels so planted and solid. It's not that fast by modern standards, but it has a feel that few other cars can replicate. It will be remembered as one of the last true driver's cars ever made.
How fast is a subjective term it is a very quick car not just because you are faster than 95% of what you will encounter daily on the road but for the fact that it is actually still a very quick car
I’ve owned a 2012 370z sport for a few years now. It’s a great sports car and a lot of fun on backroads. Your review is very accurate to my experience with the car. All the pros and cons are spot on. Super communicative, very loud, raw, heavier clutch that can be tricky, old school feel, etc. I definitely have the means to buy a more expensive car but I’ve had trouble finding something I like more. Nice review, Matt.
Strunz0 Cars Traded my BMW Z4M for a 370Z touring sport package. My only regret is not buying the 370 first. Just as fast, better looking, more visceral, more lateral Gs and way cheaper to mod and maintain.
For some reason 370z's get a lot of bad rep on the internet (for what it's worth, that's a different discussion on it's own) but I think everyone will miss them when they're gone.
I agree I remember some years ago the S2000 got a lot of crap for going through a 9 year production and pretty much unchanged like the Z. Same complaints as the Z low HP compared to other competitors, not refined but is a great driving experience and look at the S2k now its a GEM.
30k for a 330hp V6 with a 6sp MT that sounds great, can get to 60 in 4.7, run 1/4 mile in low 13's, and its fun to drive. There should be nothing to complain about
For all of you complaining about the horsepower please keep in mind the 370z wasn’t designed to be a drag car 😂 it was designed to be an overall balanced car meaning more thought went into this car with the handling etc. Sure it’s not as fast as a mustang gt in a straight but it’s 100% funner in the corners and the back roads and the car isn’t a slouch . If they made it as cheap and fast as the gt a lot of those components would be sacrificed
it's a great handling car, no doubt but the camaro v6 1le is in the same price bracket as the normal 370z. The Nismo is in Camaro SS 1le territory which is a great handling car too
I hope Nissan will see the opportunity they have to compete with the Supra. This car needs an exterior and interior redesign, as well as a new powerplant. The 400hp twin turbo V6 will do well in here.
@Paul Bouchard at some point all i.c.e cars will go up because they won't be able to make anything other than electric. Going to be a sad day when the time comes.
Ive never owned a 370Z nismo so when I ever get one it will be cheaper and a completely new car to me so it being around since 2009 does not mean a thing.
Yup picked mine up for 30k used for a car that only had 5k miles, I thought it was a steal 2 years ago and I still think it’s a great deal today! Love the engine (reliability), sound, and aftermarket support/ community. Zgang for life
I have a 2012 touring sport (manual)with a stillen exhaust .I traded my 2006 350 base in on it 2 years ago. I love the look of the car it reminds me of a modern version of the 240z. I'm a minimalist when it comes to sports car interiors and don't race people. I just love the heavy feel, sound and handling of this car.I live in Virginia and do a lot of country, twisty backroad driving with it and it never gets old. I can go for weeks without seeing another one on the road.Thats another thing I love about this car.
IF, you can pick up this car for say $26K- $30K, it's worth it. Sure it's dated, but it's very analog and as cars continue to become more and more computerized, fuel efficient, and electric in every sense, these cars will find their niche among enthusiasts who want a throwback feel to driving.
Used to own a G37. These are great cars, and the VQ is an awesome engine. They're excellent used buys atm. Make sure you get the stick, the slushbox kills the soul of these cars.
I've driven both. My impressions of each - A/T is very smooth. It's not a bad transmission, and there aren't many "flaws" per se. It downshifts pretty crisply in manual mode. However, upshifts are really delayed, and it definitely ruins the driving experience if you're driving spiritedly. You'd upshift and the car would decide to shift what felt like seconds later, which is unacceptable to me in a sporty vehicle. In traffic it's great.... M/T isn't perfect, but I liked it much better than the A/T. The shifter is excellent, and It's a little bit clunky/mechanical, but very precise. The clutch is a bit of a pain on the other hand. It's fairly heavy, which isn't a big deal, but it's vague and engages really abruptly. It was hard to drive the car smoothly. Could see it being a pain in the ass in traffic. That said, if you're looking for the most driver engagement, the M/T is always the way to go, especially in these vehicles. The 6 speed is a joy when you're out in the twisties, and you'll be glad you took it over the A/T.
I picked up a 2017 370z GT in pearlescent white. So I get the Bose system, larger break callipers ,heated seats,19” alloys. I missed out on a Nismo last year but to be honest 22hp extra I’m not going to miss. They’re all restricted to 155mph ..I’ll never see that. But just the sheer pleasure of walking up to it..it’s beautiful. I haven’t yet realised it’s full potential. You can get a Golf R,you can get a Ford Rs...but they’ll always just look like a plain old Golf and an RS. I wanted a car that looked the part. Big big Z fan
30K$ here in Canada...The RWD is bugging me a bit especially for our canadian winter but I feel like this car should be on my trial list before buying a WRX...
I owned a 350z for years before going to a 335i. I missed the simplicity of my Nissan and being able easily do maintenance on it. So I recently ditched the bmw and got a q60. Love what Nissan/Infiniti have done.

Subaru had a lock on the segment if and no competition outside the Evo, also it sounds like your comparing an entire brand to a single car. But ignoring that the Z had to compete the with Mustang GT and the Comaro both of which are insanely good right now, and it refused to compete and instead Simply price cut.
My dad had a 2014 370Z Touring with the Sport Package. I drove it a lot before I moved out and it was a really fun car. They drive really nice, the engine is great, and it was just a cool car in general. I like how the design has held up so well since 2009 but these cars really are due for a redesign. The interior and electronics are very outdated and it's not as competitive as it once was. This used to be the class leader. We put a Borla Cat Back exhaust on it which gave it a really nice sound. Having said all of that, it has some other downsides. I hated the clutch in that car and with only 30,000 miles on it when he sold it, it really felt like it was almost in need of replacement. The seats were too uncomfortable for him and it did get a little tiring to be in after a while. I know it's not a road trip car, just saying for those who are wondering. The biggest flaw of these cars though has to be the amount of road noise they have, it's really annoying on the highway. I have a 2015 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack and I have to say, I like it a lot better than the 370Z. I'm more of a muscle car guy to begin with but the Challenger is just so much faster and more fun to drive IMO. The Z definitely handled better (as it should) but the Challenger is a far superior road trip car and drives great for what it is, not to mention the interior and technology is much more modern. Lastly, you can't beat the V8 sound. As good as the Z sounded with the Borla, it had nothing on the 392 HEMI with the stock exhaust.
Been saving for one of these for awhile now. With all cars going all tech and cvt/automatics. With hybrid drivetrains these are a dying breed and the analog feel of these is amazing.
This car was the most fun to drive . I owned two r35 gtr, two supras mk 5, and an n sport 370z. Off the mark no where as quick as the supra or gtr but at 220 kmh it was steady as a rock. The suspension as very solid aswell.
I'm glad it's features isn't all controlled through an infotainment system. Cars like those are gonna be hell to resell in the used market. This car however is gonna be even more desirable. Pure driving bliss.
After owning a 370z for about 2 years, if you wanna go fast in a straight line it’s not for you. You can get a Camaro SS or Mustang GT with more HP and torque with about the same mileage and price, if not less. Easier to mod and less expensive to maintain. I’ve gotten the feeling it’s a true drivers experience, but it’s temperamental and limited. A dying breed of car for sure
cole crye it’s just a sports car - not a drag racer. I think it’s a very balanced sports car that’s a lot of fun on backroads. You will definitely lose drag races - even A4s are putting down 5 seconds to 60 now. But, this car is a blast if you enjoy backroad weekend driving.
Strunz0 Cars oh for sure it’s a fun car carving up backroads and it’s my daily driver, but I live in east Texas and there’s nothing but straight roads here so it kinda stinks but it’s cheaper on insurance than a V8 so that’s a win also. It’s a good looking car in my opinion that has a unique style. I love my Z, just stating some of my experiences and opinions from 2 years of ownership.
Frankie Ramos Oh for sure, I get quite a few people ask about and compliment my car compared to my buddy with a 2016 5.0. It is different and something you don’t see every day and I love that
I thought those roads looked awfully similar to the ones I drive with my Z. I'm only an hour south of you currently in Morgantown. Like you said, it's perfect for back roads
Nice review, matt. I’ve owned a 370z as a weekend car for 4 years. I agree with every one of your observations - spot on. Its the perfect sports car for backroads.
Great review Matt, it’s amazing how Nissan has milked this FM platform and consistently evolved it I mean RWD FM of this car has been out since what 2002 which shares the G35/G37 and FX series. It makes me appreciate my 03 G35 Sedan 6 Speed Manual though the VQ35DE is not as fast as NISMO but still has decent pull.
Great review as always Matt. I have had two Z's and they truly are great cars with rock solid reliability. I never drove the Nismo version but from the looks/sounds of it, seems like an awesome car. Might have to pick one of these up!
Hey Leo trust in the nismo I have 2016 much much better than the regular z different car I tried the regular ended up with jaguar but after 2 years tried the nismo and binned the jag instantly .
I love the Nismo Z's. Especially the 370. I've driven one and to me it was SO FAST. Also has the greatest sounding exhaust I habe ever heard other than a V10 lambo. To each their own. They just ride too rough to be a daily for an old guy like me.
They should go 3.0 twin turbo 450 bhp rear wheel drive with hybrid tech. Call it 300z since its going to be around for a decade. 390z doesnt make sense since gtr will be 3.8 v6 hybrid
Drop the FM Chassis and come up with something new and lighter, but I'm 100% with you on the rest. Especially since AMS just got the Q60 up to 800HP after a turbo swap, cooler and new rods/pistons. lol
More like 200lbs, need to remeber Q60 is a GT coupe not a sports car it compete against the 440i and Audi A5/S5. Both the 370z and Q60 have same underpinnings, it's just the sound deadening and materials used in the car add a lot to the weight.
Agreed, Nissan has apparently lost it's passion for selling fun cars. Or are too scared to take the chance on building one. But on the flip side if they do build a new platform it means it would be applicable to the aforementioned crossovers, specifically the ones found in the QX series at Infiniti which do sell in large quantities and are RWD.
I've been seeing this again lately, thank you for the heads up and thanks also for signing up for notifications! Also following on social media helps make sure you don't miss anything.
Matt Maran Motoring well Matt I need to make a Facebook I'm the one that wants you to review my 550 wheel horsepower Focus ST here in Las Vegas I'm also working on a twin turbo 1989 iroc-Z28 Camaro
I see a lot of comments saying that this car needs a turbo. Nah they should keep it NA, way too many cars going forced induction these days. With the way things are going NA sports cars may not be produced as much. Look at what happened to G37 -> Q60 and E92 M3 -> F82 M4. Also Porsche 911 are now TT. May be approaching sad times for NA 6 cylinders.
Bummer, someone else mentioned this. I don't know what's up with RUclips unfortunately. I'd suggest either turning on notifications or following on social media to get more reliable updates on when there's a new video. I also always stick to my schedule of a new review every Wednesday and a new Weekly Update every Friday. Thanks for your longtime support!
How is the clutch & shifter on a 370z ? On the 350z the clutch is heavy both up & downshift & shifting is difficult at times even with a new clutch a year ago that was put in on my 350z
I've been cross shopping this 370Z and a new 2018 Camaro V6 and don't know which is best because I found both are great sports cars for the money. The only issue for is the premium fuel needed for the Nissan and its outdated interior .
I didnt realize how shallow the Z's hatch was until i got mine.. just fitting my size 13 work boots in the back of my Z is a struggle due the shallow height. They have to be in the perfect spot for the hatch to close lol
One of the last raw, connected sports cars. It's great fun for the money used. My tuned Audi TTS is much faster and more capable, but if I'm honest, not as much fun.
I’ve never been a fan of the 350Z but I wanted to watch this video, hoping Nissan updated it and made it worthwhile. But I can’t believe that interior is in a “2016” car. It looks like the interior of a car from 2005. But, as always Matt, your review was great and fun to watch nonetheless!
CONCERNS ABOUT TRUNK SPACE? Want to add to his review. Yes it is not a significant amount of trunk space. But, like he said, when you take into consideration that this is a small sport coupe two seater, it is fairly large. I have a 370z Sport (same trunk space) and I am able to fit in two hockey bags and lay mine and a friends sticks along the left side of the passenger seat and still leave seating and foot space for my passenger. I also am able to easily make weekend trips back to Chicago from Central IL with my fiance to visit family. Two backpacks, one behind each seat, two suitcases, both our cats in small crates, and space for a few other miscellaneous things.
Stupid question but how are the 370z nismo to drive in the winter? Very tempted to get one and winters here in south sweden is pretty tame ( going to use it as a daily driver)
Personally. I'd love to see the next z go back to its routes more. Mid 200s-300 horsepower in a smaller lighter body in the 2500lb range. The small agile car it was always meant to be. The current Z's are still agile but weight wise. My 2006 maxima is only 200 lbs heavier.
If the price wasn't so ridiculous, I think more people would consider this. All I'd want is the Sport trim with the better brakes, LSD, and rev-match manual, I don't need any fancy tech, great noise supression, all that; this would be a great, real, driver's car. Just you, the vehicle, and the road. The pricing is ridiculous for a vehicle that hasn't been changing in a decade though.
If you read the manual, which you can't because you smoke too much dope, all will become known.
who cares you buy it to drive it not because of the pretty interior of you want a pretty interior buy a shitty porsche
Yeah the interior really really needs to be updated.

Sam Sheth Okay, I'll read your mind. You're thinking of penises... AND vaginas. Amiright? Oh wait... You meant in the past tense. Sorry, my bad. 😁
9:06 you’re welcome
Automotive Daily thanks bro. 👌🏾
His shifting could be better the throttle hangs when he pushes his clutch in.
that's his catchphrase :)
Poor clutch
For some reason 370z's get a lot of bad rep on the internet (for what it's worth, that's a different discussion on it's own) but I think everyone will miss them when they're gone.
Leuff exactly
its 6k cheaper in Usa than Japan base model , and people still whinge

S2k at least went from AP1 engine to AP2 so Honda tried to squeeze more out of that small car. But yea, little change. Not even a coupe version.
30k for a 330hp V6 with a 6sp MT that sounds great, can get to 60 in 4.7, run 1/4 mile in low 13's, and its fun to drive. There should be nothing to complain about

Vq37vhr excuses!
Japan its base 370z 3,831,000 yen , similar price to a base mustang gt in usa with cloth seats and Aircon
"100% funner" 😂
it's a great handling car, no doubt but the camaro v6 1le is in the same price bracket as the normal 370z. The Nismo is in Camaro SS 1le territory which is a great handling car too

I hope Nissan will see the opportunity they have to compete with the Supra. This car needs an exterior and interior redesign, as well as a new powerplant. The 400hp twin turbo V6 will do well in here.
it will cost 60k your dream a Nismo z turbo wirh 400hp from factory , result less demand for it waste of money for Nissan to build it
archinuk417 no bro ... I wanna buy my dream car I don't wanna look at it for another 10 years...
archinuk417 Nissan doesn’t care anymore about sports cars it’s all about the rogues and the kicks now
Even GTR didn't change for 10years, how would you expect a Fairlady change?
new rumor has it that nissan will borrow mercedes' I6 engine for the next gen Z
I love this car. When the price goes down I'll get one

Dawson Johannes I did. Check out my Z on my channel.
5k cheaper than Japan , how is that possible , in oz we pay 50k for a base 370z
Aus 370z is top spec Z else where
Base 370z is 3,831,000 yen
30K$ here in Canada...The RWD is bugging me a bit especially for our canadian winter but I feel like this car should be on my trial list before buying a WRX...

Really love this car almost bought it. Though I picked the MustangGT instead. Better value imo. This car is in dear need for a re-design.
The NISSAN 370Z looks beautiful car remained me Porsche design, Thank you for sharing, like it very 👍
So happy you reviewed one of these!
We can barely hear you with that exhaust ! 😂😂😂 this might be a little too loud...
Yeah the muffler delete is the poor man's cat back. I'm very glad I went with Motordyne cat back. Nicest exhaust I've ever seen and experienced.
Muffler delete... Or "just hacked up the exhaust and took out the muffler" 😀
This car has barely changed in about 12 years. Really needs an update to be competitive.
bikephil if it ain’t broke don’t fix it
No one buys these anymore that's why they need the update
Aye that's largely why their sales dropped off a cliff.
subaru’s haven’t changed in 12 years either and they’re blowing up now. those shits are everywhere
Subaru had a lock on the segment if and no competition outside the Evo, also it sounds like your comparing an entire brand to a single car.
But ignoring that the Z had to compete the with Mustang GT and the Comaro both of which are insanely good right now, and it refused to compete and instead
Simply price cut.
As an owner and a big fan was waiting so long for this lol, thx for doing it!
At 10:45, downshift into first gear....? As I was taught thats really tough on the car, is this not the case with the rev matching?
Been saving for one of these for awhile now. With all cars going all tech and cvt/automatics. With hybrid drivetrains these are a dying breed and the analog feel of these is amazing.
If your worried about all out speed and weight, the pre 2014s are in the 3200lbs range , the 2012 auto was tested by car and driver at 4.6 to 60.
Nice review Matt really happy to see you include the used car price in this video.
I love my Z, just stating some of my experiences and opinions from 2 years of ownership.
cole crye still I’ve rather have something different than everyone else. Texas is full of muscle cars
Frankie Ramos Oh for sure, I get quite a few people ask about and compliment my car compared to my buddy with a 2016 5.0. It is different and something you don’t see every day and I love that
Frankie Ramos everything's bigger in texas;)
I thought those roads looked awfully similar to the ones I drive with my Z. I'm only an hour south of you currently in Morgantown. Like you said, it's perfect for back roads
9:11 why did it take so long? Did he release the clutch slow af or something?
Dream car looks really amazing! love the aggressive looks the Nismo 2015 onwards is my favourite 370z.
Love the reviews you do! Maybe a cool car to review next a early 2005-2007 subaru forester that's tuned! Keep up the great work!
I know they are dated but I still would like to have one for a fun daily. Good review
New gen nismo with single turbo kit is one of my dream street builds.
This channel is a dying breed
You are a trully rap god when you say "what's up everybody here is Matt Maran Motoring"
The joy in this guy
Love the Abarth convertible visible thru the window at 2:29!
12:16 Who else loves that point of view over the shoulder shot?
Needless to say my biggest criticism is the road noise…..
I think the 370z has aged really well in general. The Nismo still looks special and purposeful. These are great driver's cars.
My favourite is a 2016 nismo Z current 2018 The bomb! They are a over achiever I’m a proud student.
matt you've gotten very good at reviewing cars
Thank you!
I love the Nismo Z's. Especially the 370. I've driven one and to me it was SO FAST. Also has the greatest sounding exhaust I habe ever heard other than a V10 lambo. To each their own. They just ride too rough to be a daily for an old guy like me.
All the sports cars ride ruff. 😊
You gotta try to get in that 1440p or 4K level Matt
Ah the Z, my favorite Japanese sports car.
2016 Nissan Z NISMO - an excellent sports car for 2006!
The amazon graphic down the side actually looks good haha
I own a 2017 mustang gt but wouldn’t mind owning a nismo, looks like a sweet ride !
Put the TT 3.0 redsport 400 motor in it and bring back the 300zx and we can talk.
L BC that would make the gtr useless. The only reason the infinity version exists is because its shitty at being a sports car😂😂
They should go 3.0 twin turbo 450 bhp rear wheel drive with hybrid tech. Call it 300z since its going to be around for a decade. 390z doesnt make sense since gtr will be 3.8 v6 hybrid
300zx twin turbo cost 4,700,000 yen back then , base 370z in Japan is 3,831,000 yen . Turbo 370z would cost 60k in Usa with 450hp
Ben Chesterman true
CLV$$Y Q60 being shitty?? What planet did you come from?
Outstanding video Matt!
Nissan should just build the a new Z using the Q60 chassis, with the vr30 and a manual!
Drop the FM Chassis and come up with something new and lighter, but I'm 100% with you on the rest.
Especially since AMS just got the Q60 up to 800HP after a turbo swap, cooler and new rods/pistons. lol
The q60 is like 800 pounds to heavy bro
More like 200lbs, need to remeber Q60 is a GT coupe not a sports car it compete against the 440i and Audi A5/S5.
Both the 370z and Q60 have same underpinnings, it's just the sound deadening and materials used in the car add a lot to the weight.
i doubt nissan cares enough to build a new Z. it seems to be all crossover stuff now
Agreed, Nissan has apparently lost it's passion for selling fun cars. Or are too scared to take the chance on building one.
But on the flip side if they do build a new platform it means it would be applicable to the aforementioned crossovers, specifically the ones found in the QX series at Infiniti which do sell in large quantities and are RWD.
White nismo looks so good in person. Vq is great motor.
Lucky I got a notification your vid isn't showing up in my feed
I've been seeing this again lately, thank you for the heads up and thanks also for signing up for notifications! Also following on social media helps make sure you don't miss anything.
Matt Maran Motoring well Matt I need to make a Facebook I'm the one that wants you to review my 550 wheel horsepower Focus ST here in Las Vegas I'm also working on a twin turbo 1989 iroc-Z28 Camaro
The interior is like a time machine because it brings you back to the early 2000s.
I guess looks fine the inside could be improved better
Just got my 2017 pearl white nismo on Saturday! Upgrade it from 2005 350z enthusiast
Ive been watching your videos since the brz days through the "mini"-apocalypse but recently ive had to search to find your videos
Matt Maran Motoring bell turned on! Your totally welcome i appriciate your content! Have a good night!
A great video very informative you answered all my questions i had thanks looking from Australia cheers
The split sceen treatment in your video is pretty cool.
How is the clutch & shifter on a 370z ? On the 350z the clutch is heavy both up & downshift & shifting is difficult at times even with a new clutch a year ago that was put in on my 350z
i will never forget the experience i had when the 2009 370z first came out.
2:18 Matt T H I N N
I've been cross shopping this 370Z and a new 2018 Camaro V6 and don't know which is best because I found both are great sports cars for the money. The only issue for is the premium fuel needed for the Nissan and its outdated interior .
Rudy F the Z is a terrific platform and yes you absolutely need premium fuel.
Bro I can spin 305s in the z. High combustion mostly top end HP. It can break lose on 305s easy.
I didnt realize how shallow the Z's hatch was until i got mine.. just fitting my size 13 work boots in the back of my Z is a struggle due the shallow height. They have to be in the perfect spot for the hatch to close lol
9:17 that's what she said
One of the last raw, connected sports cars. It's great fun for the money used. My tuned Audi TTS is much faster and more capable, but if I'm honest, not as much fun.
Z nation
* fair lady Z nation
Limited slip diff ' Recaro bucket seats ' 18 hp upgrade ' Brembo brakes ' Nismo strut brace ' upgraded Suspension ' upgraded body kit ' Bigger mags well worth the money
Great video 370z mismo or m2? What would u buy?
There is actually 3 cup holders. one inside each door storage area and another hidden inside the center storage area.
I meant 4 total
Personally. I'd love to see the next z go back to its routes more. Mid 200s-300 horsepower in a smaller lighter body in the 2500lb range. The small agile car it was always meant to be. The current Z's are still agile but weight wise. My 2006 maxima is only 200 lbs heavier.
I’ve been waiting for this oneee
It's funny .. When he pushes a car his Mr Hyde comes out. Face turns red and and gets an evil smile. Good review bro thnx
