    There aren't very many NA straight 6s in the world to compare it to that sound that great, especially with pumped up with six trumpets playing congo, but there are a few from the 90s for racing purposes that would wind out to 9k rpm that would absolutely scream! Relatively gutless but modern standards at a whopping 300hp, but the song on the way there is unbelievable.

    What itb's are you using and what you gonna do for trumpets/filtering/plenum? I've been wondering about adapting the S54 M3 itb and plenum on the 2j. Definitely healthy output for a stock long block. Very encouraging.

    • @papapetad
      @papapetad 3 года назад

      I checked other vids so I now know where the itb's came from. Pricey but then building a kit from scratch is a major endeavour...especially since this is such a rare setup. Kudos for going through with it. Certainly transforms its character.

      @@papapetad Thanks mate, been a hell of a journey but worth it for that noise alone! Plan is to add on some filter socks rather than a full airbox, hopefully keep the most of the induction noise. Think i've seen some people start on the M3 itb route, but not 100% sure i've seen a finished build so would be keen to see a finished one!

    • @papapetad

      @@PiersBailey These itb 2j builds are gonna remain unicorn status. It's probably significantly cheaper to do a S54 swap than build a 2J anywhere near that standard with fully forged internals and high compression.. But frankly, even at about 250hp crank, you're winning, especially when you know you're not gonna get raped by ze germans come maintenance time. And the 2j sounds better 😜

    • @PiersBailey
      @PiersBailey  3 года назад

      @@papapetad definitely, especially when it's potentially cheaper and easier (in terms of guides etc) to just turbo the 2J anyway. To be fair , there's always the possibility of turbo-ing the itb setup if I fancied it further down the line which really would be an interesting take, now that's unicorn status haha

      @@krinkov2875 Ha, that's what I had in mind as well for "simplicity" re. Adapting tb's to factory 2j runners (to retain factory injector setup) and figured side by side clearance could be an issue...and that's before taking into account all the other things you mentioned... It's quite the undertaking. Tricky. No wonder off-the-shelf itb kits cost a pretty penny... Looking forward to seeing more and thanks for the details. Peace.

    • @meusana3681

      @@trilliamogdlocog4986 First off. I referenced a 2l straight 4, not some 6l LS. Second, the video title was "what power will an NA supra on throttle bodies make" my answer is none. Which was a gag, and any1 with more than 2 brain cells would read it, and go about their day. And 3rd, high end k20As don't just blow up, you really need to neglect it or give it an unsafe tune. You kinda said it yourself, the reason you see some of them blow is cuz people push them past what they should. You won't push a $5k 2JZ block past what it should, unless you're rolling in cash...I've never seen a K motor blow up, and I've never seen a JZ blow up, nor did I say push it to 1000hp. So I literally have no clue what you are talking about. Nor did I say 180whp isn't fun. I have a NA vg30e making 160 to the fronts, and its the best car I own. And 4rth, If you gave me $15k to spend on a a 1000+hp engine build, I'd go straight to k20 full billet everything, completely ignoring 2JZ as well. Yall internet warriors need to get this 1000hp 2jz shit out of your heads, it's be best 600hp street motor you can have, with plenty of torque and lots of headroom. But as it stands, that NA motor is just a money pit with no return on investment. Can't drag it, can't drift it, can't even track with it. So why tf is power a topic of discussion?
      Still IN MY OPINION (apparently having an opinion is controversial these days) NA JZs sound like shit, make shit power, and is a waste of a 5K block.

      @@meusana3681 Since you like k20a so much let's see what your working with?? I haven't seen any video of your build well I can look up a cheap ass 2jz nat pushing 800whp with forged piston and a few minor upgrades that are far less then 15k$.... Not to mention other inline 4 engines that would get more or about the same hp numbers without having to deal with a awd/rwd conversion etc most k20 and cheap k24s builds are fwd and that in its own is a disadvantage..Don't get me wrong thoe those hondas etc have probably the best power to weight ratios but ever since folks start putting 2jz's in a ae86 and other light weight chassis the k series really only has the benefits of being cheaper to build depending on how much engines folks run threw like Hert and his k swapped 240sx went threw like 3 blocks before he even got his k series dialed in lol now that's a waste of a good engines ...
