Kurt Schreckling (born 1939) is a German technician, who pioneered home-constructed turbojet engines for model aircraft. He is also an amateur astronomer specialized in optical measurements. The asteroid 489603 Kurtschreckling was named in his honor.
Career
His design was constructed using hand tools, and has a wooden compressor and a bent metal gas turbine. It was fitted into a radio-controlled aircraft that flew successfully. He won various prizes and wrote books about this field of research. Jet engines following his design are designated with a K, and J for Jesus Artes (his co-developer), for example KJ66 Gas turbine#Scale jet engines

I visited a RC-model-fair in the early 90s and saw Kurt Schreckling demonstrating his FD-3 64 Turbine Engine. He was a real pioneer!
I have his book from about 15 years now or so.... And only NOW I am able to build this thing...!

What great memories! I used to work professionally with KJ66 turbines about 25 years ago as they powered first Spanish jet target drone, the SCR´s SRAB. Ours were manufactured and supplied by one of the KJ66 designers himself: Jesus Artes. Our units already used mixed fuel-oil against separate oil supply as that of the video and we got, taking it to the max performance, from 8.0 to 10.0 Kg of thrust, which normally damaged the turbine but it was not very important as it was rare that the plane and the turbine returned after military fired a Mistral missile against it!. The starting procedure was just as that shown on the video, and my workmate responsible for the turbines who also started them finished losing burn out all hair on his right hand from using a cigarret lighter for starting the turbine! We joked him saying in every start the we smelt like being at a barbecue,.... in fact a pig barbecue! We also wrote a slogan we made print on some T-shirts for the starting and launching ground crew: "If you take fire, SPIN ON THE GROUND!" which made military to laugh, only till they took operations theirselves.....

Invest into some really good ceramic bearings and bench test the thrust and then you can figure out how big of an aircraft it would take to handle the engine
I runs up to 5kilo at 100.000rpm....Sadly some equipment was damage during postsending 3 years ago....I flew a salamander lookalike plane wing 170cm total weight 6kilo.....

The bell or crown in rear of engine is cracking!!!!! Not good, any vibration or broken part comes off, self destruction of turbine and all of you are so close to it… gotta be safe and careful!!!
