      Sorry. This is my only engine. It’s not for sale. If I were to build another one to sell, I would have to charge the same or more than the cost of a new one to make it worth my time to do the work. And it wouldn’t be as good as a commercially made engine.

    I have that book and built one of those. I changed the compressor to a garret turbo impellor and brought a wren turbine wheel. Had to change the direction of rotation for them. Instead of the three piece shaft I made an all steel one. It ran ok but always ran hot. I also used a later design combustor from gtba plans. Ran mine on propane for starting and diesel for main fuel. It didnt like proper jet a-1 fuel. Excellent fun running them.

    I think its amazing to make a gas turbine from simple materials like plywood. Great video!

    OP said "I spend 10 bugs to built it"
    And a lot of work and patience - Nice done!
    Well, on a commercial version you would have a compressor made out of carbon or aluminum, a turbine out of inconnell(sp?) but it would cost at least 100 times more.

    Hello, can i use single shaft which dimension is 8mm its thiner than the book say? Will it effect to performance?

    • @customfabrications
      @customfabrications  5 лет назад

      As long as the bearings still fit, I can't imagine how it would effect the performance. Unless the smaller diameter would flex more and show bigger effects of any vibration, but I doubt that that would even be a real concern. Sorry I don't have a better answer.

    Hi wich glue u use for corbon fibor? On compressor wheel?

    • @customfabrications
      @customfabrications  4 года назад +2

      CA glue, cyanoarcrylate. I tacked the end, wrapped it around once, applied the ca, wrapped it around once, applied ca, repeated until thick enough. Just be careful not to get to much that it runs and makes a big clump, but enough so that all the carbon gets impregnated.

    Actually I am making fd3 . could you tell me please that the book say to use 608bearing which dimension is 8*16*5 . Could I use 8*22*5 dimension bearing it's few large than? Sorry for bad English.

    • @customfabrications
      @customfabrications  5 лет назад

      Well, I didn’t write the book or design this, so I can’t say if it would be ok. But, if all you do is change the dimensions to fit a different bearing, I don’t think it would hurt anything. Just make sure you don’t compromise the strength of any parts.

    • @simonwass6315
      @simonwass6315 4 года назад

      I used 608's in my engine, you have to redesign the bearing tube and also the cone part of the combustion chamber to fit. I ended up using full compliment ceramic bearings, ceramic balls in steel races.

      I don’t know. To make it look nice? There is an option in the book to make the shaft steel instead of aluminum. The steel shaft is a smaller diameter and not tapered.

      This type starts on propane to warm up then switch to kerosene or jet fuel. I don’t have the fuel line made yet,so I’m just running on propane, which doesn’t work well for sustained running.
