Same. But I think I remember being told it didn’t matter. Maybe?

Yup! I’m fully aware of that. It’s only been an issue a couple times, but I was able to stick the cutter out in the holder a bit more to reach the work. But putting the scale on the other side would interfere with the tail stock, which would be an issue more often for me. I rarely turn large stuff. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hello, the eyelets in each side of the lower Hull are called "Fareleeds" we place the mooring lines through them attached a tether line and throw it ashore so the shore party can attach to a morring bollard. The white drums are as you correctly assumed are life rafts, considering the ship accomodates a small town the ship must carry the desired amount for the crew onboard. Enjoying your work

New sub - cool build. I have not tried this myself, what about Tamiya X25 Transperant Green mixed with the whit glue..experiment. Thanks for your time and video
Thanks! And that should work. Would be worth a try next time.
I for one am very happy you're doing this build for us. I'm subscribing right now. Many thanks, and Happy New Year.
Thanks! I appreciate that. Happy new year to you as well!
Dad had one of these kicking around the junk drawer. Rarely charged it, figured I’d get some use out of it. Thought “ahh these batteries haven’t charged in ages, no way they’ll come back around..” I gave it a charge and to my surprise, both packs are holding up really well! Planning on mounting it in the garage and using it on the cars. Might pick up another to keep in the Jeep whenever I go off roading. Didn’t know it came with a 12v charger option until I saw the video. I know O light is another option, but I kinda like the build quality this one has, plus I’ve heard great things about Streamlight’s warranty service.
Cool! Thanks for watching and commenting!
If you have any questions about details that can only be answered by someone with firsthand exp with USS Nimtz, or Enterprise, feel free to ask. For instance, the domes on the mast, and around the ship are white. Aircraft tend to catch the No.3 wire, wheels touch just forward of No1 wire. Sell the BXA and get the AXA.
Everything I read when I was researching what to get, said that if the size of your lathe overlaps two tool post sizes, then to get the bigger one. So I did. I’ve been using it quite a lot, and have never had an issue. There have been several times though, that I was glad I got the BXA, because an AXA would have been to small, because of the cutter I was using.
Very talented craftsman!
Thanks!
Get to the point
Wow, really? That was rude. Sorry I was talking too much in my video. Thanks for watching and commenting though, I guess.
I used one of these today and it actually worked OK. Not as good as my 140amp Unimig mini ARC.
I think it’s fine for short welds on thin material, but I was definitely hoping for better. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Sounds good to me. It makes nice tack welds and it’s still working after the first use.
Yea, I think it’s good for short welds on thinner stuff. I do need more practice with it though.
More cat reviews!!! I hear cats are the backbone of popular channels!!

You can never have too many projects running side by side. Sometimes you just need a break from something you've been working on for awhile.
True! But sometimes I wish I was one of those people who could just focus on one thing at a time and just get it done quicker. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I love PM Research models, detail with functionality. I actually have the engine lathe kit but didn't know machining would be required. I don't have the tools but I'm sure it will make a great future project! Good luck on yours!

This is probably the best video I have seen on this topic, and I have watched quite a few lately. Thanks for this. Only thing I would say is regarding the feedback. You didn't tie in the motor shaft to the servo potentiometer. Maybe for your application that wasn't applicable, idk. Thanks either way, good video.
Thanks, but actually I did connect the pot. It wouldn’t work if I didn’t. Start at 28:10 in the first video I did showing the build and you can see the adapter that connects the pot to the big gear. @@customfabrications Ah, makes sense, thanks, and thanks again for the video
Looks (and sounds) like fuel deprivation. These Hobby King pulsejets are notoriously lacking in quality control. Yours seems to have been welded by an amateur, but that should cause any problems, it just makes it ugly. However, they sometimes come with the wrong fuel metering adapter (the brass nipple connecting the fuel line to the injector). Make sure the hole is 1mm. If it's smaller, you'll need to drill it to 1mm.
Thanks, I’ll check the hole size.
There is a lot of things it could be. Maybe even the spark plug is not the right one. Maybe you need a hotter plug. What kind of gas you are using regular, mid grade or high test!
It’s the plug that came with it. And it lights off ok. Just using regular gas.
Does this thing need 1.21 giga watts to run?
Yes, but my gigiwat meter batteries are dead.
Reed valves are off. Either leaking or too loose. They flutter. Also, less pressure might work with the starter air. A big spark gap, a high voltage source. Up the gas tank because you'd want it to run for more than a minute.
I know the reeds are tight because I made sure they were aligned and tight before I tried running it. But they could be leaking. Not sure how though, it’s all brand new. I’ll have to figure out how to see if they’re leaking. Maybe blow air from the back and see if any blows through. Thanks for the suggestions.
the fuel mixture may be to rich and it looks likes you don't have a valve that opens and closes with the combustion and exhausting. the valve should close due to the combustion and open when the exhaust takes place, so that's probably why you require such pressure because the back pressure from the combustion is fighting the intake air, so try like a butterfly valve or any valve that can flap open automatically when the pressure is low on one side.
There are reed valves inside between the intake and combustion chamber. But I am starting to think that it may be too rich.
Compressed air. That's something I've seen boat builders and other professionals that make molds. Just take your blowgun and crank the psi's up and blast air around the edges and eventually it should break cleanly away from the mold.
Yup. I’ll have to try that next time. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I did not know you are using gasoline. Thought it was nitro fuel like for r/c planes. So I'm thinking its running really rich. Got to lean it out. Maybe a smaller fuel line or you can get a adjustment clamp for the fuel line that might help.
You may be on to something. I did notice it was closer to running on the first attempt where the tank was lower. I thought it couldn’t suck enough fuel so I raised the tank to make it easier to get fuel. So maybe I just need to lower it more than it was. The lower the tank, the harder it is to suck fuel, so it would get less fuel. That might also stop the dripping at the front.
try a reed valve as the intake. It's a one-way valve and is mechanical so it works at microsecond pulses perfect for a pulse jet engine, you also might want to find a way to aerate the fuel into the combustion chamber, the smaller the particles of fuel, the better it burns. *Mixing an oxidizer like nitrous into the fuel could also singlehandedly fix your issues*, so you can try it first since it is cheaper than changing your engine up
It already uses reed valves.
@@customfabrications huh, that's weird, well maybe it's the fuel, or maybe the reel valves aren't pulling in enough air somehow.
6:41 I understand the basic physics of combustion engines but I don't know too much pulse Jets. If I had to guess Id think it just might not be getting enough air to let the fuel combust. Although I don't know how you would fix that honest the easiest way I can think of is just mix in engine grade nitrous (actually cheaper than you would think)
Also running the spark plug at full blast the entire time might just not be letting enough fuel to actually get into the combustion chamber before it just burns although you would need actual electronics if that's the case
12:17 well that just sounds like you're not getting enough fuel into the combustion chamber
Yea, it seams like it can’t draw in air on its own.it seams to ‘run’ as long as I’m suppling the air.
There’s plenty of fuel dripping out the front. Seems like I’m giving it too much fuel?
At one point I stoped the ignighter and it kept burning. So I don’t think that’s the case. But IDK.
Is the reed valve set over holes correctly covering them. What fuel you using
Yup, I made sure the holes were centered under the reads. And I’m just using gasoline. That’s what everything I read said to use.
Xjet on youtube is the man to ask. He has years of experience with pulse jet's. ruclips.net/p/PL0C90B828313F1969
Could it be a fuel supply problem ? you mentioned it was a tank designed to be pressurized , did you pressurize it ? if not could the amount of fuel being sucked through the venturi by the high pressure air be causing a low pressure in the tank stopping fuel from flowing when it is shut off?
The tank was vented. If I lift the tank higher than the intake, it just runs out and makes a mess. If I pressurize it, it would make a bigger mess. It is possible though, that the Venturi shape isn’t correct. It seams like it can’t suck enough air in on its own. I think it gets plenty of gas as long as I’m suppling the air. I think? Thanks for watching and commenting!
Why would it be dripping fuel? Maybe wrong fuel?
About the only thing I know for sure, is that it is the correct fuel. Everything I read and saw said to use normal gasoline. It was dripping less on the first attempt, and was closer to running. So I think it was just getting too much gas, causing the excess to just drip out the front. I think. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Bahaha metric / starter. Thread. Why not a left handed one too😮
Can’t believe I didn’t think of that!
Looks like fun. I don’t see why it shouldn’t run.
Thanks. Me either.
I’m getting it thanks
My pleasure, and thanks for watching and commenting!
I'm leaning toward the HobbyKing 'red head' one. Here is my reasoning: the plug is in too good of shape. All the vintage ones I see have plugs with patina, and I think if it were an old one from the height of the hobby, it would have been run at some point, which this one shows no signs of. The nozzle on the original ones is also nearly perfectly concentric, whereas the HobbyKing one is more oval-shaped. It's hard to tell for sure from your video, since you didn’t show it up close, but it looks rather oval from the side angle. Now, the confusing part: it seems like on all the HobbyKing ones, the weld has been ground away on the outside, but on the original ones, the weld is left intact. Then again, maybe toward the end of their production, they stopped doing that to save costs. I'd say if the end of the nozzle is oval-shaped, it's definitely some variation of the HobbyKing one. I'm also not an expert i just like to attempt to solve internet mysteries lol. Either way they still have the manual on their website and its probably worth the read as it gives some troubleshooting tips i cant posts links on youtube though
Thanks for the input. And yes, it is slightly oval. So maybe it is hobby king.
here is a thought "custom fabrications" make your own? its not hard...
Don’t think I haven’t thought about it…
All the slides could be made out of laser cut plywood for more durability and easier assembly. The downside would be that you couldn't make a perfect checkerboard pattern, but rather a matrix of holes, though on the other hand you wouldn't lose light to the transparencies.
True. I think if I ever get back to this I’ll look into getting them photo etched.
That particular model always breaks open at the weld seam. Most hobbyist put a sleeve over with new seem 180 degrees out
Thanks for the info.
I'm very jealous that you managed to pick this up for such a good price! I am also a bit disappointed that you didn't show it running in the video
Sorry. I was kinda in a rush to show it off. I hope to run it in a few days.
@@customfabrications No worries, it's interesting stuff!
Id make sure its supposed to run on normal gasoline before i piped it in. You might accidentally make a bomb.
That’s the first thing I looked up. Regular gas is the right stuff.
Better title.. i bought a pulse-jet engine, and never ran it on the video...
Thanks for the suggestion. You’re not wrong. I’ll fire my video titling guy. I do plan on running it in the next video though. Hopefully in a couple days.
