Most reliable engine ever made. I had an 82 with factory 5 speed. I desmogged and replaced the factory carb with a Weber. Unbelievable how much more power it had after that! Cheap parts and super easy to work on.
Im currently trying to get my dads 84 truck her to the States from El salvador. That truck had 2 accidents, but still runs like a new 20 years after the accidents. I have many great memories with my dad on that truck.
I have a 1986 2WD 5spd reg. bed that I got in 2017 from original owner with 64,000 miles for $3900. Gave it a paint job and it's my sweet daily driver. Has 90,000 miles now.
Had a 1989 black 2wd 22r never missed a beat, southern truck body was about perfect had 350k on it and wished I never sold it, makes me miss mine watching this video, 4speed
I regret to inform you that my friend just bought one of these a couple of months ago, but a little over a month after, it got totaled :( It was so sad I loved driving it😂 such an odd little truck. It had 120k miles😢
Just finishing a restore of an 87 long bed. 5 speed. Replaced everything...literally. Has power steering and I added AC. In it like 10K. Gonna get painted. Scared to daily it now :/
Front two holes line up, rear two, you have to make an adapter. In my case, first we used washers as spacers, then 3D printed an adapter. Takes time but it makes it so much more comfortable.
Talking about the automatic not being worth as much as one with a 5speed. Screwing a tachometer to a mint dash certainly doesn't increase the value either. The dash sells on Ebay for 500 to 900 dollars if they aren't cracked or hasn't had something screwed to the dash
I live in Sydney Australia and l own and drive a 1997 hilux ute it has a carburetor no cat converter and it goes great l have removed the power steering because the high pressure hose was leaking its good without power steering anyway l am 67 years old l am a retired courier and this hilux was my last and since l retired l have spent a lot of time on you tube and Google and have found out how good these utes are please for us aussies call it a ute mine has 430000 kms on it and runs well

I just picked up a 1984 long bed with the original 89,000 miles. It’s an Auto with overdrive so it’s gonna be a perfect daily for this LA traffic lol
That sounds great!!! It is still a baby

Needs a V8
It’s a truck not a car 😂
The truck wasn't known as the 22r.
Not when new but that's what everyone calls it nowadays.
