Whomever suggested late 80's Hair metal era Kiss as your very first introduction deserves a head slap 😆 There's so much classic 70's material to hit first. Kiss Alive ( 75) covers material from all 3 debut albums and better versions. It was the first live slbum that really broke them big and set off a trend of every band having to also produce live albums.
Oh wow you guys are the first I've seen to react to this particular song from kiss this is a classic from the very first album of 1974 I was 5 years old when this came out wow !!
Their live album Kiss Alive is amazing - all the best songs from their first three albums, all turned up to 11. The best way to experience Kiss. Also, Alive II which came after the following three albums. Absolute rock gold.
KISS ALIVE 2, Every punk in High School Owned that Double Album. Mostly because the inside album cover was covered in Fire bursting out from the Instrument stage..Must see to understand...what a site for a 16 Y.O. to see. Music was good too...
No hate from this subscriber. Early KISS is awesome. As many others here have posted, the first KISS Alive album is really, really, good. But for RUclips purposes, you might also grab some of the black & white videos of them doing this early material live at Winterland (in San Francisco). I don't think there's a copyright problem, they are all over the site, and you can really get a sense of the band's raw energy live from them.
Back in the 70’s many bands played two shows in a night. On Kiss’ first tour I saw them at the Capitol Theater in Passaic NJ, the first show. My friends and I exited the theater, went to the box and got tickets to the late show. No other rock band put on such a high energy show. The Capitol Theater was a movie theater so you get an idea how small it was. They had flame cannons, of course Gene Simmons did his fire blowing routine, strobe lights, police siren and lights. It was such an experience
So many great KISS songs!! In the 70s they never allowed anyone to photograph them without make-up so they could hide their true personas and remain somewhat anonymous in their personal lives. The first incarnation of the band proved the most popular with Gene Simmons (the Demon) on bass, Paul, Stanley (the Starchild) on rhythm guitar, Ace Frehley (the Spaceman)on lead guitar, and Peter Criss (the Catman) on drums.
Kiss' 1974 self-titled debut is one of hard rock's all-time classic studio recordings. Kiss is chock full of their best and most renowned compositions, containing elements of Rolling Stones/New York Dolls party-hearty rock & roll, Beatles tunefulness, and Sabbath/Zep heavy metal, and wisely recorded primal and raw by producers Richie Wise and Kenny Kerner (of Gladys Knight fame). Main songwriters Stanley and Simmons each had a knack for coming up with killer melodies and riffs, as evidenced by "Deuce" (by Simmons), "Black Diamond" and "Firehouse" (by Stanley), as well as "Strutter" (collaboration by the two). Also included is the Ace Frehley alcohol anthem "Cold Gin" - Excerpt from AllMusic Deuce (Official remix) ruclips.net/video/g7k5UOWRjio/видео.html
KISS put out some great tunes but can we give a shout out to their ability to perform in platform shoes. One pair was 14 inches high, 7 in the heel and 5 in the front. (Signed, a broken ankle from platforms) Mad respect!!
A Gene Simmons penned song. The first 3 albums went nowhere until Kiss did the miraculous and put out a live album, which hit the roof! That put those 3 albums back on the map big time.. self titled Kiss, Hotter than Hell, and Dressed to Kill. Check em out Airplay. Thanks, guys, for the music.
Now...react to KISS - Midnight Special 1975 performing Deuce; Live. This song was really their first composition, I believe. I think Ace played this when he auditioned for KISS. And his playing got him the job, over dozens who auditioned, and KISS was formed.
This is Gene $immons "The Demon" is on lead vocals... This and the live version from "Alive!" are both great. As one of the commenters mentioned below, "Dressed to Kill" is an awesome album, as is "Hotter Than Hell"... Kiss were actually pretty edgy before they became cartoon characters.
I've seen Kiss three times in the 80's and 90's once front row center and Paul and I we're face to face he was singing right to me❤ And the other show I was 10 feet away from Gene and he was trying to get me to lift my shirt like a lot of girls back in the day at Rock concerts😂
Oooh classic KISS from the 70's. My fave era. Try Black Diamond or All American Man or Nothin' To Lose (live and Unplugged). Domino from the same Unplugged show is fun.
The drummer Peter Criss was a swing big band drummer in a rock band. It worked PERFECT. Everyone that came in after he left were rock drummers. What different styles. This influence is most evident on their first three records. This one, Hotter Than Hell and Dressed To Kill. You can still hear it later on but mostly on the first three. Who knows maybe he didn't play much on the other three studio records
Part II 😁 50 FREAKING YEARS LATER and I still say CALLING DOCTOR LOVE is my favorite K I⚡⚡ song!! The opening guitar riff, killer drums and favorite Ace solo!! 🕊️☮️
The two guys that produced this record Kenny Kerner and Ritchie Wise were in a killer proto-metal band from Brooklyn with drummer Mark Bell who would later become…Marky Ramone. Band was called Dust and their song Suicide is epic.
Cool song & yes the version on Alive is great. Check out their live performance of this song from 1975 on the Midnight Special, along with She & Black Diamond. The ending of Black Diamond from Midnight Special has Peter & Paul in Destroyer Mode! 🎸🥁🔨
Yes early KISS is a different sound. This album self titled is what I heard first from them. My ex brother in -law had a band back then in high school and KISS was mainly what they played. KISS was my first Rock Band. ✌️🤟🤘
I love this song!! I was really late to the KISS loving party, yeah I liked the MTV hits a lot, but took many years before I went back to the old school greats. There are lots of other fantastic songs to check out
People hated Tears are Falling? It was a later era of KISS with a different style, but I didn't know there was hate for that stuff. Usually the fans love that era. This was from the debut album 1974, the other was from '85 and the "no makeup" era with two different members. They were trying to blend in with the "hair metal" of the 80's.
Eddie Van Halen learned his tapping technique from Ace Frehley. Watch the 74 Midnight Special with KISS. Ace does the tapping technique useing his pick.
Hey look seriously you guys want to hear a real kick ass song from kiss the early kiss listen to 100,000 years from their alive album and that will blow your f in mind away I'm so serious check it out especially with Peter Chris's drum solo no joke Man no joke !!!
You guys gotta listen to the live version. Kiss Alive is a rockin album that made them famous. The songs that are deeper on the albums , the songs that weren"t commercial or big hits can rock with the best of them.. Don"t be ashamed to like KISS. I lived on this kinda heavy music since i was 3 years old.
There early stuff (I Love) had a different feel and I think it's because of Gene's approach to Bass playing. Not your tippacal phrasing. It's almost like by acoustic guitar. KISS ALIVE 1 album has great stuff like BLACK DIAMOND, SHE and PARASITE!! Great Channel Guys!! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
holy shit, never thought i would hear this . yeah, ya gotta go off the first Alive record for any of their early stuff to really appreciate their true total badassness . 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
The thing about KISS that everyone that isn't a KISS fan doesn't realize is that every song they wrote is meant to be played live with all the fixings of a KISS concert . Try the version of this song from their first live album KISS Alive! to get the full feel of this song.
If you need visual fixings (costumes, makeup, explosions) to make a song better, then the songs must not be very good on their own. KISS songs can be learned by any bar band in about ten minutes. Rudimentary junk.
@@humphreygruntwhistle3946 It's obvious you're not a KISS fan or have ever been to a KISS concert. Otherwise you would know that the whole premise behind KISS is to give the fans a show that they never got from the bands they watched growing up and i can agree with them on that . I am old enough to have seen all the great bands back in the early 70's Zep Purple Sabbath etc. Although their music is amazing their concerts were rather boring you sat there listened to them play then you clapped then you sat until the next song finished then you clapped absolutely no crowd interaction from the bands only thing to look at was a screen with a kaleidascope pattern on it and that how all concerts were other than Pink Floyd and Alice Cooper. Where KISS made their music for the fans to have full participation from the crowds to sing and party along to the music with tons of band fan interaction. KISS is one of the reasons that concerts are the way they are today.
I went back and listened to your first reaction to Kiss and you guys seemed to really like that one, there are many other very good Kiss songs from the 70s and 80s to check out. If you liked Tears Are Falling, you would also like Who Wants To Be Lonely, from the same album.
"strutter", "100,000 years", and "black diamond" are a few you definitely want to listen to.
Killer Kiss song. Every track on the debut is classic
The first album is one of their best!
Now, that is KISS. Raw and gritty.
Whomever suggested late 80's Hair metal era Kiss as your very first introduction deserves a head slap 😆 There's so much classic 70's material to hit first.

Kiss in the 70’s live is what you want
The best recording of this song was ALIVE.
Agreed. They need to check this out on "Alive!" As well as the rest of the album...my favorite Kiss album.
yes, the Alive and Alive 2 records have the best versions of KISS songs
I agree that whole alive album is badass especially 100,000 years with Peter Chris's drum solo wow they need to hear that one for real
@@csbrown3 👍🥁🥁💯
They should lit digest all of ALIVE
Oh wow you guys are the first I've seen to react to this particular song from kiss this is a classic from the very first album of 1974 I was 5 years old when this came out wow !!
KISS is just incredible! 🔥
hey, any reactor that does something besides 'i was made for loving you' has my respect
Love KISS
Their live album Kiss Alive is amazing - all the best songs from their first three albums, all turned up to 11. The best way to experience Kiss. Also, Alive II which came after the following three albums. Absolute rock gold.
Classic KISS lineup:
Paul Stanley - Rhythm axe - vocals - Star Child
Gene Simmons - Bass axe - vocals - blood & fire spitting Demon
Ace Frehley - Lead axe slinger - vocals -Space Ace
Peter Criss - Drums - vocals - Catman
For me - the best KISS is from their first album up to and including "Rock and Roll Over".
Agreed
Dynasty is better than Love Gun and Destroyer
@@luismaldonado4989 Love Gun for sure.
Their first three albums are really good.
The first 6 along with both alive albums are 🔥
Debut album, kicking butt - been a KISS fan since I was 10 (over 40 years).. thank you for covering them again
KISS ALIVE 2, Every punk in High School Owned that Double Album. Mostly because the inside album cover was covered in Fire bursting out from the Instrument stage..Must see to understand...what a site for a 16 Y.O. to see. Music was good too...
More KISS please! This subscriber is very happy about this pick lol. Dr. Love or Hotter than Hell should be next!
This first Kiss record is a rocker from top to bottom! 🤘🔥🔥🤘
Don’t listen to the KISS haters. It’s catchy, good-time rock’n’roll.

Kiss sucks ass. They needed that makeup because outside of Frehley, their musicianship blew! They are one of the most overrated bands ever!
Yessss you guys are listening to KISS nation great great reaction…
Back in the 70’s many bands played two shows in a night. On Kiss’ first tour I saw them at the Capitol Theater in Passaic NJ, the first show. My friends and I exited the theater, went to the box and got tickets to the late show.

a kiss alive album from 1975 is my all time favorite album from start to finish.
Followed closely behind by,Strutter.Thanks.
This album turned 50 on the 19th of this month
Oh you're getting into old Kiss?? Great, so many hits!
So many great KISS songs!! In the 70s they never allowed anyone to photograph them without make-up so they could hide their true personas and remain somewhat anonymous in their personal lives. So 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Excellent reaction fellas 👌
That first album is really amazing. I love the stripped down sound of early KISS.
KISS ALIVE album..... "Let me go rock and roll" song..... KISS Alive is what shot everything into overdrive for them?

Strippers call that Tuesday.
@@WooBino. Lol. Well I'm not a stripper but there was an epidemic of women showing up in the ER in the 70's from them. Rock on!
Great stuff
The Midnight Special 1975 version is a must!
Yes!
The First line up of KISS is the best
Those first two albums definitely had that 70s New York grit all over them, but the hooks were amazing.
NOW we talking!!🔥🔥
"100,000 Years" stand out track on the debut lp!!!!

Midnight Special 1975 3 great songs!
I wish I could upvote this twice.
This is early early KISS, 1973 or 74. That was a great album
This was the first band that I heard as a 9 year old that became my favorite. Loved them. Still do!!
Deep rabbit hole fellas.....dive on in!!!!
1974 7th grade music class kiss was bought in to listen mr.phiester the music teacher was scared to play it ..which led me to become a fan

Guys all of the old original Kiss is amazing!!!! Love all the older stuff!!
My first band in 9th grade, 1977, we played like 5 KISS songs including Deuce.
Should watch their live version from the Midnight Special 1975. The live version is better than the studio.
