Okay, that was funny! I thought Rogue One was not good at all, and one of the parts I hated the most was the hallway scene. It was such poor scriptwriting.
..and this show finally gets the whole idea of a 'Jedi Knight'...he's shrouded, gothic, more than a little bit scary with otherwordly power, legendary in his own time...he even holds that glowing death beam like he means business with it... I couldn't stand to watch all the baton majorette twirly-girly stuff with lightsabres in the prequel installments..
Not just returned to us, but returned to us in the form of death incarnate. His powers had grown to scary proportion here. When he links his precognition to his light saber wielding arm, no blaster bolt can touch him. With his telekinesis, he can take control in any situation. Move the pieces where he needs them to be...or squeeze the life out of a battle droid, as-required.
With the exception of Rogue One, nothing came close to getting this kind of reaction from people, this is what happens when you respect the lore and it's characters and most importantly the fans. Thank you Jon Favreau!
Jon Favreau is responsible for bringing Marvel and Star Wars to life in a way the fans have wanted for decades. I can’t help but to wonder how much better the last three SW movies would have been had they just let Jon direct them.
Right lol, my kids had never seem the reaction from me I made watching this for the first time lol, literally tears amd the biggest smile and happy laughter lol. this is what we've always wanted. this is why 40 year old men tear up at this scene. seeing their childhood hero as he should be. we need more of this.
The thing is, the reason Gideon is so terrified is because, as far as the rest of the galaxy (especially the Imperials) knows, Luke Skywalker walked into a room, alone, with both Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine and was the only one to walk out alive. So, since no one really knew the truth of what happened in that room, everyone simply assumed Luke killed BOTH dark lords. THAT'S why Moff Gideon is scared s***less.
technically it sould of been only two Jedi at that time. Both wore Black, both had a missing right hand replaced with cybernetics and a black glove. And both had a green lightsaber at that time. The big tell tale was the belt buckle. They were Corran Horn and Luke Skywalker. However it remains yet to be seen if Favreau or Filoni will bring back those old characters that we loved so much. If they bring back an original series based on the X-Wing books I could see them making billions in revenue in the series itself, offshoots, tabletop games, computer game resurgence as well as book resurgence and much much more.
The best part of going back and watching these reactions is looking for that moment where people realize that NO, their eyes are NOT lying to them, that YES, that IS Luke Skywalker, and YES, he IS trashing these oversized clankers like they're part of a light workout routine.
I'll say it as its MEANT to be. True Fans know, this is ALL we wanted to see in the movies and didn't get it. We have it now with The Mandolorian the REAL LUKE. I have spoken!
Shortly before this part, you can see an X-wing fighter enter one of the hangar bays on a monitor. Many viewers might think it is Captain Teva, who we had seen several times before on patrol. But I immediately turned to my wife and was like "WAS THAT RED-FIVE?!!!" Both the Vader scene in Rogue One and this scene worked so well, and for the same reasons: they show our favorite characters practically in God-mode, but moreso both scenes were completely unexpected. Luke tin-canning the last Death Trooper leaves no doubt that he is truly a master of The Force - a powerful Jedi who has learned (as he did in his final battle with his father) to tap into the Dark Side without losing control. Giancarlo Esposito's performance was amazing as well, showing Moff Gideon's absolute fear over what's about to walk through the door. Jedi were legendary, and Luke would have been known to be the one who single-handedly defeated Vader and the Emperor and ended the Empire's reign. Master-level storytelling and production, by folks who truly know what the fans want. Disney needs to sell the franchise back to Lucas at a discount, so ol' George can put Filoni and Favreaux in charge and we have so much more Star Wars goodness in the world.
I watched this with my good friend a few months before he passed, we flipped out when we saw it, I can't help but tear up every time I watch it now. Thanks for the memories

The people who are complaining about what the CGI looks like are the same kind of people who decide what videogame console they're gonna buy based on the graphics
Exactly. Luke just force projecting himself then dying after living like a hermit on a rock. Yeah not exactly what the Legends said became of Luke after ROTJ.
Because women can not accept to be criticized and recognize they were wrong, that's all. And as for her her work can not be the cause of the flops, it only left fans to blame.
I can say one thing, Disney definitely fkd up something that I always thought couldn't be fkd up when they took the reigns of the Star Wars franchise. I have my doubts that they can return it to the levels that it occupied in decades past...but, they may be able to make it tolerable.
I know this is an old video, but these are facts! I'm a 42 year old man fighter, spent 14 years in prison, father and husband, and this made me turn back into a small boy, tears of happiness and hope! My kids had never seen me cry before this! Finally they returned a hero to us again! We need heros right now, the world is crazy and the importance of this for all of our inner children can not be explained! Disney Finally did star wars fans right!
Who else but Luke Skywalker would pick up Grogu's call and take it on himself to rescue him? By this time in the timeline, Luke would be a Jedi Master, right? He could do it all on his own. It stands to reason, right? Great writers!
Im tearing up again just watching the reactions remembering how i felt during the show. This is all we wanted since Return of the Jedi, a powerful look.
Watching this when it was released and watching people react to this moment made me feel like a kid again. My wife who was walking past me watching these reactions asked me why people are acting this way. I explained to her what had happened in the most recent movies and the fan reactions to it. I told her this was what the fans wanted from Luke and what the director did, and how this was a cathartic moment for every Star Wars fan out there because this was the Luke we grew up with and what fans envisioned him to be.
I LOVE THIS! I had no idea it was Luke Skywalker bc I kept thinking Ahsoka Tano. When he revealed himself the shock level was at a full 100%. #TheRescue #LukeSkywalker
As soon as Gina sarcastically said, "one X Wing? great we're saved" I knew shit was about to get real.. Also, when Grogu touched the monitor and looked over his shoulder, as if to say, "and this is when they realised, they'd fcked up.."
I was 6 years old when my dad took me to see the original run of Empire Strikes Back at the local drive-in. 45 when this aired, but I was squealing like a child again through this whole scene.

I Confess ... I did Cry when I saw this episode ... After being there in 1977 and watching Episode IV and being a Jedi for over 40 years, yeah ... I Cried when I saw Luke Skywalker.
This was monumental on soo many levels and for soo many reason. Those of us who spent decades and decades dreaming of what Luke would be like in peak Jedi form. Then what KK did to him in the sequels, it was a true og fans hell. Then came a pair of fellas that heard the cries of sorrow and dismay. Then gave us exactly what we needed. I still get overwhelmed on the rewatch to this day. It was a top 3 SW moment.
Exactly. Those movies don't exist to me. KK did more harm to Star Wars than Lucas did with the Prequels. AT LEAST Lucas let the fans give his creation their fullest love and through them made it better. That's how we got the Clone Wars animated show and so many things in the Legends that we loved were brought into canon.
Dropping in for a sec to give mad props to Pedro Pascale, who got totally upstaged by Luke saving the day and Grogu's farewell, the climax of Season 2. I mean, yes, this scene wrecked me and I cried like a 6 year old, and yes, there are worse things than being upstaged by Luke feckin' Skywalker, but still, it's Pedro's show.
Way late to the game on commenting on this reaction but THIS, this is what we wanted for Luke in TLJ. I’m so happy to see how many grown ass men around the world turned into little kids on the verge of tears at this scene. Jon Favreau should redo everything. I think he honestly gets it better than Lucas at this point. High hopes for things to come!!
i honestly love how they worked hard to give luke his own special fighting style. reminds me a lot of his moves against the training droid back in episode 4
"It's not Luke. It can't be, right?" WHO!!! ELSE!!! WOULD!!! IT!!! BE!!! WHO ELSE WOULD WEAR BLACK ROBES, ONE BLACK GLOVE, A SILVER BELT, AND USE A GREEN LIGHTSABER!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
God i wish i would've recorded my parents' reactions when this scene first played. I was the very first to figure out it was Luke based purely on the fact that it was an X-Wing. They actually fucking yelled and cheered in excitement. Even my dad did. We were all kids again. When Luke's theme played after his face was revealed I think they cried. I know I did. For that reason alone, I think the only things that are canon (to me) that Disney has made are Clone Wars, Rebels, Bad Batch, and Mando. (So far! We'll see how the other series pan out.)
@@redsabr I hadn't thought about that, but it is strongly symbolic that Luke uses a green lightsaber. When it came time for Luke to build his own lightsaber, he didn't build a blue one like his father Anakin or Obi-wan. Instead, he built a green one, just like both Qui-Gon and Yoda used. It could be seen as a deliberate break with his father and Obi-wan and their influences, and a signal or manifestation that he considers Qui-Gon and Yoda to be his true philosophical and spiritual mentors.
Its not just the green lightsaber, but that adds to it, watch his movements, his technique and then go check out phantom menace. There's some Qui Gon sprinkled in there. Not sure if its on purpose or not but it definitely adds to the awesomeness of this scene(for me at least)
Seeing grown men in tears and jumping around like little kids. I had the same reaction. I literally was who is this wait it can't be but wait yes is it. I was giddy. The fact we finally got to see jedi master Luke and not hermit luke.
Luke: "I have a hallway scene, like my father before me."

like a child I was screaming - it’s green! It’s green!
Still the greatest moment of disney star wars so far. Hadnt been this hyped since the prequels
I really didn’t think it would be look till I saw the hands then my soul ascended to heaven for a lil
Thats the Luke we wanted to see in the Disney episodes
the one lady who said “JUSTIN” when he got excited, doesn’t need to be in anymore reactions 🤣💀
The fact it was actually Luke, just blew me away, I don't care that it's CGI, it was fucking Luke.
I remember being pumped on this scene
Plot twist:
Qui-gon jinn
Or ezra...
or anakin with the right filter on the screen :P
We've been hurt before so I guess people couldn't believe what they see...it was Luke.
"I'm Luke Skywalker. I'm here to rescue you"... The biggest missed opportunity in the franchise.
Filoni and Favreau has given us hope again
Obiwan Filoni and Favroda
We have luke in mandalorian, wehave anakin in ahsoka..we can have more...please give us more
To me this 4.5 minutes is better and more meaningful than the entire sequel trilogy.
Qui-gon vibes in Luke's fighting style
It´s a great point. I haven´t noticed it but you are right.
It's like Anakin's power level with Qui-Gon's monk like self control and calm.
In my head cannon, Qui-Gon’s Chrystal is in Luke’s lightsaber.
The fact we finally got to see jedi master Luke and not hermit luke.
i love that the guy in Review'd figured it out because of the prosthetic hand
