I instantly knew it was one of the great movie scenes after I just watched it for the first time. The sound fx and music, the lighting, the absolute horror of the massacre, the illustration of Vader's power, and the surprise of it leading directly into Episode 4. It's proper jaw dropping cinema. Amazing directing.

For me these 2-4 mins of vader are the best thing i ever saw in the whole franchise, this is how they should have made Vader always to be, overpowered and frightening.

Rogue One was one of the very first Star Wars things Disney released, and I went into it with the cynical soulless corporation expectation that people now RIGHTLY have of Disney Star Wars. But this movie was so good it legit bought Disney YEARS of benefit of the doubt from me. The Vader scene and how they chose to tie it into Episode IV was stunning.
No it was jammed. You see a large amount of sparks by the door mechanism as they're running towards the door and then the hallway loses all power. Hence why it was completely dark while the other side had light. Vader had no clue what the guy had in his hand. It could have been a dirty letter to his wife for all we knew. He just knew that they were something in his way to the ship. They were speed bumps. He did use the force to unjam the door.

First of all, I applaud you for including her in this mix; she's the MVP of reactions to this scene, but for me, it's the moment when she realizes it's the Tantive IV launching - and that the movie is dovetailing into A New Hope - that makes her reaction practically legendary.

Maybe five seconds before you hear Vader breathing...I thought "what if Vader shows up and wrecks shop?" Then it clicked that it was going to happen. My jaw fell open and I got the biggest grin on my face. I almost hyperventilated because of how awesome it was. We finally got to see Vader going full tilt. No holding back. It puts Empire Strikes Back into perspective. He was TOYING with Luke. We only IMAGINED what Vader could do for 40 years; this showed us what we dreamt of all along.

This movie is always a bit bittersweet for me. In that it's a really good movie, but the first time I saw it in theaters was the day that Carrie Fisher passed away. My friend was checking his phone one last time before shutting it off before the trailers started and he saw that she had passed and told me. So, when Princess Leia popped up here at the end it was hard to keep from breaking down. RIP Princess.

As one who saw the original Star Wars in 1977 at age 12 , I was absolutely thrilled with Rogue One especially here at the end. Absolutely fantastic!! 👍
This is a perfect scene and really its the music, the ships heading towards them, the panic of hurrying and of course Vader using the full power (holding the door) and destroying them all. Guy hitting the roof and pulling their weapons is 100% perfect. This movie had re-shoots originally and i would put money on it that it was this scene as they were originally going with a beach landing but this was epic.
Vader has a lot of hurt and sadness in his heart. In his soul this reflects on the hatred of the past when he was little and in adulthood... The hatred for always being repressed and the hatred for the past. This generates the strength of the gedi power that already exists and therefore in the dark issue. He was the strongest. There is no one with a worse past than Anakin (Lord Vader) 
The dad and the kid reaction was pure stunned silence, the dad looked especially horrified at Vader slicing and dicing "OH God I'm Letting my kid watch this!" I did like the kids reaction at the end smiling and bopping to the music
This whole scene is basically right after he was placed in the suit in Episode 3. In A New Hope he proceeds to go after the ship to get those plans. I find it funny that People are shocked or say he should always be like this. He is always like this, just cause you don't see it 24 7 doesn't mean he not. This was the movie that made me really, truly realize how terrifying Vader actually was. I saw this on Opening night and when this scene started the audience went nuts. It was so well done it blew the rest of the movie right out of the water.
The ending was worth the price of the admission. When Darth Vader clenched his fist and slammed the dude to the ceiling you heard nothing in the theater.
The idea of stopping Darth Vader should be a lot like trying to stop time. You cannot slow it down, you can't impede it, you can't break away from it; and in the end, it's inevitable. Love the portrayal. Darth Vader can and should be this cruel, frightening monster.

Rogue One is a truly great Star Wars movie, for me it sits alongside A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back as the best of Star Wars. That Vader scene at the end is pretty much perfection.

This is Darth Vader showing why he was so terrifying. You don't see it in the original series since he wasn't actually trying to kill Luke.

Rogue One is a truly great Star Wars movie, for me it sits alongside A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back as the best of Star Wars. That Vader scene at the end is pretty much perfection.
This is my favourite SW movie after the original Empire strikes back.
This is a great scene to compile reactions....Darth, Leia, the intensity, the horror, the tie into Episode 4....and Popcorn in Bed has the best reaction (I hate him so much...)
