      I've actually heard an argument how viewers like it when they know what will happen in the movie so a lot of trailers are spoiler-y on purpose.
      now I don't know if this is actually true for I don't like spoilers at all but with such classic book adaptations it'd be a different thing anyway as most of us know the plot already.

    • @SR-kh6yq
      @SR-kh6yq 4 года назад +31

      @@Dani_1012 It's a novel by British novelist Jane Austen, written in 1815. Austen is probably most famous for Pride and Prejudice, perhaps you've seen adaptations of that one. All the Jane Austen books are classics and have been adapted into films and shows many times. Before this Emma, its most famous adaptations were a 1996 movie with Gwyneth Paltrow, a 1996 ITV TV movie and a 2009 BBC TV mini series. The movie Clueless is also a loose modern adaptation of Emma.

    I didn't know I could fall in love with a trailer just as much as I love the movie, but whoever thought of doing it this way is pure *genius*
    And the movie.. gosh this one was by far the best adaptation of this book because it captures its actual wittiness and charm. Emma is a love story, yes, but the best thing about the book was it wasn't centered *only* on that. It's Emma learning to step down on her high horse that she's unconsciously and unknowingly on, all throughout her mischiefs and meddling habit that soon backfired on her. It doesn't revolved around just romance, the love here includes every aspect whether its family, friends, or being compassionate to everyone.
    Plus the aesthetics?? This is really one of the most beautiful films I've seen lately with all the pastel colors it abundantly gives.
    This version was one of those rare moments where you didn't mind that Hollywood made yet another remake of a classic.

    • @HoppyGoLitely
      @HoppyGoLitely 4 года назад +12

      I despised the Gweneth Paltrow version. She plays it so stilted. It was like she was concentrating on her accent over the acting. Definitely the Romala version is the best, followed by Kate Beckensdale. Kate's version needed a better Mr. Knightly.

    • @justme9818
      @justme9818 4 года назад +3

      But the Romala version is so historically inaccurate! The characters didn't behave as they would have at the time AT ALL. They were completely without the basic propriety or manners that the time demanded. They were just too modern.
      My response here isn't aimed at you or your comment personally. Everyone has the undeniable right to like what they like. What bothers me is that the film got made that way at all. I truly believe that one either has to interpret Austen in context or adapt it entirely.
      Any director who fails to do this destroys the integrity of the characters. -The audience can't appreciate the nuances of the story, the subtexts or the conflicts within each character at all if their behaviour is completely out of line with societal restrictions at the time. If a director wants to modernise the interpretation then it has to be put in a modern setting.
      Gwyneth has Shakespearean training - she hardly needed to concentrate on her accent. Her portrayal was far more reserved but this was in line with the level of formality people lived in at that time. If Romala wanted to give his characters more freedom he should have moved the entire piece forwards in history. He should have set it in a time where it was socially acceptable to behave the way his characters did instead of at a time when it would have been shocking and vulgar behaviour that no one at all would have respected, even the most open minded.
      It bothers me so much that modern interpretations rewrite history this way. It's like turning the novel into a comic strip.

    What a cool papa this Emma has.. his style beats all men including Mr. Elton, Frank Churchhill, and Mr. Knightley..

      Yeah but Bill Nighy would have been better as the vain, peacock father in Persuasion rather than the depressive downer anti-social father in Emma that Jane Austen wrote. They've rewritten the character to make it "more hipster" rather than true to Jane Austen's writing. Pretty disrespectful really.

      @@Lilah_Ninigigun_Belet-Eanna Totally agree, or even the wry Mr. Bennet who constantly delighted in mocking his neighbors. Emma's dad is a total softie who wants everyone to be healthy and safe, but whose method of accomplishing that is to nag and fret about ridiculous, inconsequential things.

    made me envious of being in love for a while, awestruck with how love was portrayed, the stares, the look of longing, the intimate dance in the ballroom and of course, the troubles of life, class positions, the complications and simplicities of loving someone

    EMMA is my favorite book. I’ve read it tens of times over the years since I first read it when I was 12.
    Thirteen years later and Austen is still my favorite writer and Emma my favorite novel.
    This movie looks good, better than the previous adaptation 🙄, I hope they do this amazing book justice.
