The beauty of Jane Austen was she had a fantastic sense of humour. She also saw the hypocrisy of "polite society". She was a great observer of human nature. The woman who's internment in Winchester Cathedral was only observed by four people is loved all over the world. Jane Austen is a national treasure.

      She is!
I am french, and Jane Austen is definitely unique, brilliant and an amazing analyst of social mores.
I was probably too young to get the humour when I had my Austen's binge reading phase( I was around 19, 20), and it was french translations, so I probably missed most of the subtility of her delicate English humour. But I loved the psychology, and it was very educative for me.
Still for me till today Jane Austen remains one the best author, and has no equivalent in France( I dont think even in Germany, the US..has an equivalent).
Great Britain is for sure a land of brilliantissim artists and creators; my theory is that it was once populated by the Faëries People, and before they disappeared to the other world, they shared with some British natives, the gift of Art( especially music imho, not gastronomy😅 ..just kidding, I love British food).
I hope it will last, despite the current annihilation of all Western culture/pride/uniqueness by our globalist, anti-People "leaders"..

The best part was Mr.Knightley lying on the floor and the servant quickly walking out 😂. It reminded me of a similar occasion that happened in my 8th grade musical theatre class, when two girls were singing “Let It Go” for an assignment and a boy asked to go to the bathroom to avoid hearing it. After a bit, he came back, and the song was not yet finished and he walked back out into the hallway with the same attitude of the man in the video.😂

It's all in good fun. There are many more serious versions to enjoy, so why not play up the satire and irony Jane Austen very much wrote? This is also a compilation that plays it up even more.

@@eb7446 I know I'm acting like a fuddy-duddy. But as I've grown older I've stopped enjoying the explosions, the effects, the crude interchange that passes for witty banter. The right way to do an "updated" for-the-youth Austen is Clueless. But if you keep the original characters and the time period, then No. Ach! This belongs to that same awful trend of using rock music as background for period pieces. It caters to a certain... hmm how shall I say this... age group. The kind who would probably never pick up the actual book.

@@katiewoodley7456 A masterpiece is that which stands the test of time. Come back to me in 10 years if this movie still registers with the wider public or they have moved on to the next flavor of the month.

@@gokouson180 hello! I’m 16, so I’m assuming that’s the age demographic you were referring to- and I have read the book! I think the film, although not as serious as the book itself, is a good representation of the story and the author’s humour. The editing in this video makes the slapstick a lot more pronounced than it is in the film.
