      Thanks for the great video. Which overhead switch did you select for powering the USB charging ports on each side of the center console stack?

    • @MyAutomobileObsession
      @MyAutomobileObsession  5 дней назад

      @@Ajak-v5w I used the INT 10A switch on the overhead panel that had the pre-wired power leads next to the driver footwell (as you see there are 2 INT switches overhead and there is one lead on the left and one on the right footwell). I had my installer do this, but wanted to be able to switch it using the overhead. I leave the INT switch permanently on which then just comes on when I start the vehicle and goes off when I turn it off. However, the PWR switch is like an override that you can use to turn power on to the INT switch even if the car is off. It's great for occasional use, but you never want to leave that permanently on as it does add to battery drain. Hope that helps!

    One addition I just added to my Grenadier is a Driver's Side Grab Handle - available as a kit from your INEOS Dealer. I had tried many different ways to find a dignified approach to swinging into the driver's sea - grabbing the steering wheel, grabbing the A-Pillar, Grabbing the drip rail above the window and, while all worked, none provided the leverage I was looking for. Then I found you could get a grab handle that matches the one on the pax side from INEOS as a kit. It took about 15 minutes to install it - probably 5 if you know what you're doing - and it works a treat! It was $450 including sales tax and shipping, which seems like a lot until you consider you're buying parts for a $90K truck.

      Thanks for adding this suggestion. I have considered it and convinced myself that I got in OK by grabbing the steering wheel, but I appreciate hearing that parts are available to do this and to give others an idea on cost.

      @@youraveragejoe123 No, I don't find it interferes with my vision at all. With the seating position I find my line of sight is above the handle and, of course the shape of the handle - being the stock grab handle for a right-hand drive grenadier - is such you look through it should the need arise..

    Thank you very much for your posts. I enjoy watching everyone of them. I too purchased my grenadier from Sierra Ineos Grenedier. I would like to let you know about what happens if you lose a key. I recently replaced the key I lost and the dealership charged $429.60 for second key programming and cutting. Plus key itself cost $622.23. Of course they also charge tax on top of that. The total cost was $1051.83 for me to replace a lost key. Unacceptably too expensive. I think every potential owner needs to know about this. I can provide you images of the invoice if necessary. I think this is another topic for you to explore in the future.

    • @MyAutomobileObsession
      @MyAutomobileObsession  3 месяца назад

      Thanks for your comment. You are actually the 2nd person I have heard who has experienced this. The other was closer to $1200 (not like that's going to make you feel any better....). I don't think people realize how expensive and complicated it is when a key is lost because of the coding that has to be done along with the standard key cut and of course you pay the bill for every step. So, thanks again for sharing and let it serve as a lesson that losing a key is, in fact, a big deal. I'm sorry that you had to experience this and couldn't begin to justify the exorbitant price they charge for this.

    Thanks again for a good video! I like the USB LED lights. I’ll look into them.
    I bought the rear baskets from Bison-Gear (Poland). They are much better quality than the Chinese eBay ones and yet they are the same cost. Make
    sure to add a little blue loctite to the bolts when you’re installing the baskets. I too added Rob’s (OvelandGearGuy) bags inside the baskets. I also purchased from Bison-Gear a rear shelf that sits about 8” from the ceiling. I spent a small fortune with OverlandGearGuy, worth every penny: Havlock insulated window, windshield and safari shades all around. I didn’t purchase shade covers for the rear doors as I plan to install Molle panels. I purchased the under-seat storage bins and owner’s manual cover from OverlandGearGuy. I also have the same rear door handles but I wasn’t a fan of the visible glue blob. They’ll do for now. Also add loctite to these bolts.
    Thanks again.
    Michael (Los Angeles)

      Hey Michael - Thanks for the great comments. I have heard good things about Bison-Gear, but didn't really have the use-case to make the investment. I appreciate the tips on the storage and while I haven't used loctite (so far), I did line the back of the units with the soft side of velcro so that nothing would rattle between the storage bin and the side - I guess in case the bolts didn't stay tight - but all good so far. Also agree about the door tugs looking a little glue blob - I found them to be useful enough that I didn't mind, but once I see something that I like better may switch them out. It's funny how everything matters when you first get a new car, and after a while it just becomes your car and you live with the things as you've set them. Maybe it's just me... Again, thanks for adding your comments as others find them helpful!

    Your videos are always super helpful! Have you or anyone here found any sleep systems for sleeping in the back of the Grenadier?

    • @MyAutomobileObsession
      @MyAutomobileObsession  3 месяца назад

      This is a good question. I think one may exist, but it would be a platform of sorts that took the folding seats into account as the cargo space alone isn't big enough for anybody to lie flat, and the seats don't fold flat so there's an 8" rise between the two areas. So whatever the solution would be, it would have to take that into account. We'll see if anybody else posts a comment. Thanks for yours!

    • @billruttan117
      @billruttan117 3 месяца назад

      I made a sleep space by:
      1. Removing the bottom cushion of the two thirds rear seat (only held by three fasteners).
      2. Folding the back of the two thirds rear seat forward so that it is flat.
      3. Placing two seven inch high flat top storage bins end to end in the rear cargo compartment (almost three feet long in total).
      4. Stacking camping gear into gap between the the back of the driver’s seat and the front of the now folded rear seatback until it was at the same height as the flat seatback.
      5. Topping everything with a six foot long Exped mattress.

    The upper tray for the centre console. Someone on the forum has a 3D print file and I got my son to print me one for a few cents

      @MyAutomobileObsession  3 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for adding this. I did see this, but saw a few versions as it was revised and updated a few months back, and if you don't have access to a 3D printer and supplies, isn't inexpensive. I thought I would try the Amazon tray that I got, and felt that it was a good solution. But you are right, other options - which may cost less - do exist.

    Such a useful video- thank you! I like the Eldoret blue and the devil red. I would like to configure the car so I can sleep in the back if I go on a long distance trip in the wild. Do you have any advice. I think Black Sheep can provide a solution but it seems like something the company should offer this as an option. Like you I am obsessed with the vehicle- it is so beautiful and I have watched many videos. Next, a test drive!

    • @MyAutomobileObsession
      @MyAutomobileObsession  2 месяца назад

      Thanks for the comments! Eldoret blue with a white contrast roof was my other choice and Britannia blue was a leap of faith as the configurator didn't make it look nearly as great as it does in person. Not so with the Eldoret - the configurator is pretty accurate, but it does look a little better in person. Now, the Devil Red - what a great color! I may well have gone for it if it would have been available for MY 24 as I really love red cars and this is a stunner in the photos that I've seen. You can't go wrong with either. Now, as for the sleeping solution I don't have any direct knowledge other than to say that you will need to figure out a solution as the rear seats do not fold flat at all, and you'd need something to mitigate that. If you're waiting for your Grenadier, just keep your eyes out for new companies that pop up with solutions. The best place to begin would be with companies who make good solutions for other similar vehicles - they tend to get their hands on a Grenadier and soon after design a product to expand their offerings. Since you have a little time on your hands, I predict that other solutions will present. Also, be sure to look outside of the U.S. as the Grenadier has been in the UK longer, and Australia also tends to come up with some great stuff. All of this adds to the fun of getting a Grenadier. Good luck!

    To tweak it up in basic areas as you have shown
    makes me wonder if it is overpriced
    or under designed and overpriced ?

    • @MyAutomobileObsession
      @MyAutomobileObsession  3 месяца назад

      Well that's the question of the day! It's really easy to choose options to push the price into the stratosphere, then you can always choose the Arcane Works Detour which begins at $164K US - fancy paint colors and awesome leather trim. But I got the plain Jane model (Fieldmaster) and have been pretty happy with it. The uniqueness makes up for some of those design oversights. Thanks for your comments!
