Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Australia, and Japan are the six international countries that ABSOLUTELY need to be on the calendar, hands down. You just hit the nail on the head with all 6.
Charlotte Roval, COTA, Sonoma, Las Vegas Street Circuit, Miami Street Circuit, Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Interlagos, Uruguay (Punta Del Este Street Circuit) and Chile (Autódromo Internacional De Codegua) would also be interesting additions
@@leandrofernandez452We need Twin Ring Motegi back. Also Termas would be a good addition after the Argentine government gets themselves sorted out. David Land just made a video discussing a 4-way equal split, 20 race calendar with street, circuit, oval, and superspeedway tracks. Maybe we can discuss!
they need to go back to having 3 500 mile races a year. indy and other two idk maybe milwaukee and idk what else. just in my opinion. if someone wins all 3 give them a million dollars
Everything I have heard over the years about the Oval at Motegi has been the oval was structurally damaged in the earthquake, as a lot of earthworks had to take place to even build the oval in the first place. With Honda owning the venue, they just haven't seen it to be financially justifiable to spend the yen required to fix the oval for potentially 1 race a season.
I really like your calendar but I would make a change, fit it in I would add Road Atlanta between St. Pete and Barber or right before Nashville and to keep the calendar at 22 races I would remove the race in Brazil. I would LOVE if they came to Road Atlanta in North Georgia! Its a great and technical track with some good overtaking opportunities, it challenges drivers and there is loads of elevation change. IMSA races there and its always amazing!
I’ve done this so many times before when I was back in high school and bored. Here’s my list: 1) St. Petersburg 2) Barber Motorsports Park 3) Long Beach 4) Grand Prix of Indianapolis 5) Indy 500 6) Streets of Detroit 1 7) Streets of Detroit 2 8) Texas 9) Phoenix (Summer break!) 10) Watkins Glen 11) Streets of Toronto 12) Milwaukee Mile 13) Mid Ohio 14) Nashville GP 15) Worldwide Technology Raceway 16) Iowa 17) Mexico City (Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez) 18) Sanoma 19) São Paulo GP (Interlagos) P.S. Idk a good finale race so yea
I love the trajectory of races you laid out after Indianapolis but you can feasibly shift up Detroit while only adding 3 or 4 hours of total drive time over the 3 weeks. Also, I would argue that putting a race in the largest non-US market is NOT thinking outside the box. It's thinking solidly within the 6 walls of the box. IndyCar just has to LOOK AT the dang box!
@@earlybirdearlybird1371 No, the thing is the cars are safer than they were before thanks the aeroscreen, and I reckon the track is no more dangerous than Indianapolis. What happened to Justin Wilson in 2015 was horrible, but I have reason to believe that safety advances will render future instances of that extremely unlikely.
Some more crazy ideas from me: Motegi GP layout, Fuji, Bathurst, Aragon (MotoGP track in Spain), Lausitzring(German track with trioval and 3 different GP layouts), Daytona GP layout
@@MohamadBajuri-px4bg, nah, Fuji is great and produces fantastic multi-corner battles. It also tends to produce a wet race more often than not. Fuji>Suzuka
@@flyingphoenix113 i think if you want inshane batle just bring lemans ful course without chicane in mulshane straight or bring back hockenheim ring with forest section without chicane like hockenheim ring 1968
this is pretty much perfect, with the exception of dropping laguna seca. that is not the right move in my opinion, but otherwise this is a really good idea
My ideal schedule would be 20 races, split evenly between 5 superspeedways, 5 short tracks, 5 road courses and 5 street courses, with a rotating international exhibition race to start the season. Here's how I'd do it: 0. Rotating Exhibiton* 1. St Pete 2. Homestead Miami 3. Barber 4. Long Beach 5. Texas 6. Indy 7. Detroit 8. Mid Ohio 9. Iowa 10. Road America 11. Toronto 12. New Hampshire Motor Speedway 13. Richmond Raceway 14. Chicagoland Speedway 15. Milwaukee 16. Nashville 17. Pocono Raceway 18. Gateway 19. Portland 20. Laguna Seca *Exhibition Rotation: Surfers Paradise/Mexico/Motegi/Lausitzring/Argentina/Sao Palo
I'd Definitely see if it's possible to get a race at Gilles Villnueve. Cause I think that'd be fantastic but besides that's pretty solid schedule. I'd def be down to watch 😊
I would much prefer that Indy race at one of Canada's many historic tracks. CGV is fine, but it's not especially challenging, and it seems a poor choice when Mosport and Mont Tremblanc exist.
am I the only one who remembers the 2020 Richmond race that never happened? Us in the northeast/mid-atlantic area are getting squeezed out of the racing scene lately. Pocono and Dover both lost a race in NASCAR, and Indycar no longer goes any further east than Mid-Ohio.
Motegi, nice as it would be, is a no-go if you want to use the oval. It was never fully repaired after the earthquake damage in 2011 and will need a lot of work to be brought back up to racing spec. I could see a promoter shelling out the money for a race in Japan again, at least if Honda stays, but not enough to repair the oval. It'd be on my international race wish list if it weren't for this.
Just a few notes regarding Surfers Paradise. The original layout is unusable due to tram tracks that run along some of the roads in what was the southern part of the track. The tracks run on Surfers Paradise Blvd from Main Beach Pde to View Ave. A mid February race would also be very unlikely as if a race was to be held in the early part of the year you would have the summer school holiday which ends late January so the track build wouldn't be able to seriously get under way until then.
@@michaelgrayer7351 in most of that part of the track the road is now only one traffic lane wide. and they will not shut down the tram for 3-4 days for a race.
It would be fun to add one more race in europe maybe. I remember that in 2007 Champcar raced in Assen and i liked it. It was clearly not the best race but it would be cool to have another race here in europe. Maybe at Spa?
To me I believe Indy car Is mainly suffering because lack of ovals. The schedule needs an exact balance of ovals and road courses. Indycar can also impose consolation prizes like an oval cup. Engines need to be cheaper. Chevy and Honda are the main suppliers but prices are exceeding which scares away other manufacturers who want to compete
My dream schedule: 1. Homestead - I propose that, because I've also proposed it as the NASCAR finale race. It would be a great asset for the series. 2. We go to Portland at the Superbowl weekend. That would be a good way of exposing the series. (And I've been watchimg the series since the IRL times, thus I propose that.) 3. COTA - so that we don't go to Long Beach right away. 4. Long Beach 1 werk break for the overseas travel. 5. Adelaide - I think it's the best place in Australia to hold a race. 6. I was thinking Fuji for the race in Japan, but you proposed Motegi. I'm going for what you proposed. Break for overseas travel. 7. Road America 8. Kansas 9. Hermanos Rodríguez 10. Indy GP 11. Indy 500 Break for the second overseas leg. 12. Jerez (I propose it to be called the EU GP) 13. Brands Hatch (Dan Wheldon Memorial GP) 14. Magny-Cours - I propose that as a tripple major auto racing meeting - IndyCar on Friday (Dysneyland GP), NASCAR on Saturday (Dysneyland 200 or 300) and F1 on Sunday (French GP) Travel break 15. Buenos Aires or the track you proposed 16. Sao Paulo 17. Texas - Back in the USA If Texas becomes a superspeedway, then move ahead. 18. Detroit - would be in late July though 19. Toronto 20. Mid Ohio 20a. New Hampshire - if Texas becomes a superspeedway. 21. Nashville - will be the weekend of Indy 400 though. 22. Charlotte Roval 23. Pocono (?) If nothing happens with it, Iowa. 24 and season finale - Darlington. Just because Darlington is one of my favourite ovals.
I'd love to see the return of more super speedways like Chicagoland, Homestead Miami, or Kansas and instead of the streets of Detroit go back to Belle Isle, I just like it more then the downtown street course
is that a wild @JamesNS I here?? Awesome that this channel is all in on making quality content to fill the offseason. Same as always, great video and loving the consistent uploads.
For the Brazilian race I would swap the São Paulo street circuit with Interlagos. Hopefully some of this comes true, Indycar could do with a few international races.

Insane is the operative word here. USAC tried that back in the 1960's with catastrophic results and a fatality to boot. (Marshal Teague) Besides, I really don't think ANYONE wants to see a replay of Las Vegas Motor Speedway's carnage of 2011. (Dan Weldon RIP)
Tbh try to get Michigan back, it's about the same configuration as autoclub and maybe get the same kind of racing autoclub had, Kansas or Atlanta/Charlotte would be fun too. I like the idea of some international races. Maybe get the Lausitzring in Europe. The fact Indycar runs ovals is what really sets it apart from F1 and especially its feeder series in the open wheel scene.
I think a good idea is to merge my favorite Indycar schedule, the 2001 CART season with the current and set it for 2025: 1. March 2: Grand Prix of St. Petersburg 2. March 16: Gran Premio / Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez NC. March 23: The Thermal Club $1 Million Challenge 3. April 6: PPG 375 / Texas 4. April 20: Grand Prix of Long Beach 5. April 27: Alabama Indy Grand Prix 6. May 25: Indianapolis 500 7. June 1: Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix 8. June 8: Wisconsin 250 / Milwaukee Mile 9. June 15: Iowa 300 / Nascar double header 10. June 29: Grand Prix of Portland 11. July 6: Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio 12. July 13: Honda Indy Toronto 13. July 27: Michigan 500 14. August 9: Bommarito Automotive Group 500 15. August 17: Grand Prix of Road America 16. August 31: Pocono 500 17. September 14: Indy Japan 300 18. September 28: Grand Prix of Monterey 19. October 5: Big Machine Music City Grand Prix
Instead of Texas: hear me out… Charlotte. It would be a great way to appeal to possible fans (it being NASCAR country) And it’s a fantastic track that definitely has the infrastructure to support Indycar
The current calendar is getting to where I like with the addition of Milwaukee. Add me Phoenix, New Hampshire, Cleveland, Michigan and Pocono, we are back in the pre-split heydays. At this point, I am not for jetting all around the world...yet. Let's see what the new TV contract brings, how the hybrids perform, and what is the future for Honda and Chevy before going on world tour.
Nicely done Dylan. My two changes thou would be to add two short ovals and drop #1. Twin Ring Motegi due to its structural problems from the earth quake some years ago and replace it with Phoenix Raceway (sadly, the drawback with this is that NASCAR has reconfigured the track to where it is nothing like the oval that IndyCar raced on for decades with many exiting and memorable events taking place.) #2. The street course in Nashville must go B/C IMO it just does not make for good racing. In its place would be the Nashville short oval. In any event I think your ideas for the perfect schedule would be vastly improved over the current offering. One last thing is that I believe the series needs more ovals. That being said. If the powers that be could be dissuaded from tearing down the California 2 Mile Super Speedway in Fontana which is a great venue. Then IndyCar could scratch the Phoenix (NASCAR) short oval and have it take place in California. Anyways, since this is an exercise in wishful thinking I just thought I would throw in my 2 cents worth. Thanks!
I like the idea of going to other countries expecialy being brazilian myself, but if they exagerate too much and have too little ovals it will become cart all over again and they will be another split yet again. The short and simple answer to indycar is: more ovals, ovals should be at least 1/2 of the schedule
Not a bad list. I would finish the season with the Michigan 500. Much more exciting way to finish the year. I would also try going to Brands Hatch plus a race at the Kymiring.
I need Pocono, Michigan, New Hampshire, Homestead back on the Indycar schedule… Drop Texas & Iowa!! A few of those tracks are owned by NASCAR, but they also own Auto Club Speedway, Watkins Glen, Phoenix, Richmond & Iowa who all had Indycar dates over the last decade. I don’t understand what the big issue is with Indycar & Michigan & NASCAR.
IndyCar should race at Martinsville. Martinsville is a half-mile oval known as "the paperclip" due to it's somewhat long straights and very tight corners. I just want to see an open-wheel car not the NASCAR Whelen Modifieds race there.
I’d love to see a race back at surfers Paradise, but I believe the circuit layout isn’t possible for the previous IndyCar track. The hotels and buildings have taken out some of the long stretches that they used to have there. Cleveland at the Burke Lakefront airport needs to return. That was a perennial good-to-fantastic race for many years. Motegi would be fantastic if they can repair the oval. Michigan would be excellent if they can sort out how the surface can be raced. They still have the same issue that Texas does with the PJ1 compound. Iowa needs to be under the lights as well as Gateway. Both of those tracks race a lot better at night. I would love to see a race in either Vancouver, or at the Edmonton airport again in Canada. IndyCar is still pretty big up that way And deserves a second date.
The local council at Surfers Paradise put a light rail line from the second chicane down to the left-hander that brought you back towards the beach. The road itself is still there, however its only a single lane wide and realistically unusable for a motorsport event. You would either have to use the current Supercar layout or try extend the track towards the north.
Im against the indy road course as i believe indycar at Indy only should be the oval To replace the roadcourse we go to Michigan between Mid Ohio and Detroit Also while i love the street race in Nashville i think an oval is where the finale should be so Nashville superspeedway is where i would have the finale
To me the idealistic Indy season is 30% road courses 30% street courses ( although there not great in Indycar outside long beach ) 30% ovals in roughly 10% chunks off mile/short ovals … super speedway’s …… and intermediate ovals … this leaves 10% left for one offs and hybrid tracks so return to Cleveland airport would be perfect…… Daytona road course … would be worth checking is interlagos could run a hybrid off the current and 70s gp tracks so as a big circle track? Etc etc …… it’s a shame the old Rio 90s roval oval no longer exists 🥲 with modern safer wall'sand barrier technologys that would have been great now
Also if memo to indycar ……you going to have 3 races in a year/season at Indy and 2 on the road course then the after the road and 500 tracks in may then you might as well make the 2nd road race there the last race off the season and why not use the turn 1 oval banking as the final corner like f1 used to? That way at least the two road events are on (slightly) different layouts is only for a corner or two ?
As many other comments have said about Motegi oval not being usable after the Earthquake, I think an IndyCar double header using the oval and then the road course would be a fun idea to see. It would be like the Indy GP then Indy 500 but Japanese. Also I think the Cape Town Formula E track from last year would be a fun addition to the IndyCar calendar, it is actually quite quick for a street track and has some quite challenging corners with some elevation change. The only problems being the roundabout section of T4, 5, and 6 which comes after quite a fast section but the FE layout did leave the runoff open for saftey, so I guess Indy could just skip those corners and go completely flat out. The other problem being the pitlane but based off the Nashville track for this year, it wouldn't be the only weird pitlane on the calendar.
Would really love there to be an indycar race here in the UK! Somewhere like Brands Hatch would be perfect for indycar, and there are a lot of UK indycar fans! I’d certainly go if prices are similar to what US indycar ticket prices are like
Not in any particular order: IMS(duh), keeping the road course event to kick off May Long Beach Road America Milwaukee Texas or Charlotte Michigan Richmond Laguna Seca St Petersburg Homestead Iowa WWTR(Gateway) Barber Cleveland Mid-Ohio Portland Montreal Mexico City And if some promoters are willing to throw enough money at it to make some more long-distance international venues possible, I'd love to see a couple of the following.... Suzuka or Fuji Rafaela(on the oval) Silverstone Surfer's Paradise or Bathurst
I think a race at Interlagos would better than the race at Sau Paulo. Its one of the best and most famous circuits in the world. The racing would be insane there. And the Lausitzring should make a return as well. Its a pretty underated in my opinion.
Here's a revised version of the text with corrections: My IndyCar Series Calendar: - R1: St. Petersburg, FL (not Russia) - R2: Auto Club Speedway (Los Angeles Metro) - R3: Long Beach (Los Angeles Metro) - R5: COTA (Austin, TX) - R6: Barber Motorsports Park - R7: Miami Autodrome - R8: 10th Running of the Indianapolis GP - R9: 108th Running of the Indianapolis 500 - R10: Detroit Grand Prix - R11: Road America - R12: Milwaukee Mile - R13: Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course - R14: Iowa Speedway - R15: Edmonton Airport - R16: Toronto, Exhibition Place - R17: Circuit Gilles Villeneuve - R18: Gateway Motorsports Park - R19: Streets of Chicago, IL - R20: Streets of Baltimore, MD - R21: Streets of Washington, DC - R22: Streets of Nashville, TN - R23: Willow Springs International Raceway I hope this helps!
I like the schedule but there is no way that the promoters of Road America and the Milwaukee Mile would allow races at each track on back to back weekends. The tracks are only about an hour apart and the schedule would have the potential to drain attendance from both races. Also, I am not sure why you would call the race at Laguna Seca "soul-less."
Great Video. Something I just thought of is six international tracks Brazil: São Paulo Spain: Circuit de Barcelona Catalonia or Jarama Bahrain: Bahrain Australia: Surfers Paradise Asia: Twin Ring Motegi
Especially if F1 drops Catalunya for the newly announced Madrid Street track. It would be a good way of getting fans in to watch by going to a top track that fans like compared to another F1 street track.
@@maxb148 agreed. Barcelona doesn’t host many other races(Besides I believe the 24H Series and a couple GT races) so it would be good to have Indycar Go
@neospoilershow2708 They also have ELMS and Motogp but F1 is the main race and with Palou being one of the best IndyCar drivers currently it would be a good market to move into. There is some correlation between Alonso doing well and how big the crowd size is at Catalunya.
@@maxb148 sorry about the late responses, haven’t noticed. Wonder if Formula E would maybe go to Barcelona, as they have never been to Spain. Indycar hasn’t had a European race in a very long time if at all(I know champ car had a Race in Germany and England) but it would really help the sport.
I started watching your videos when you recently came back. You do good analysis but your dream schedule was a bit far-fetched. Granted it's a dream schedule but a number of those tracks would either have to be rebuilt or sold before Indycar could race there. Also, Indycar doesn't race where they are not wanted. Keep up the good content. Perhaps do a deep dive into the preseason testing and ERS development.
50% road 50% ovals 25% small ovals (Iowa, milwaukee mile, etc) 25% bigger ovals (the 500, michigan, pocono etc) 30% real road circuits 20% street circuits. Thats i want to see current indy is getting too street circuit heavy keep atleast saint. pete and ofc long beach but bin the new detroit street circuit and bring belle isle back also replace nashville formula e circuit with nasville speedway.
Broke: Michigan or Pocono Woke: Michigan AND Pocono I think Pocono could be safer if they create a new line on the second straight higher up the track, and enforce it as a track limit. Turn 2 is where we've seen most of the problems at Pocono, and it's because the Long Pond straight is so long, and wide, that the IndyCars fan out. If they put a new line up the track, mae it illegal to go under it ala NASCAR at Speedways, I think that'd help. If you want to go a step further, literally paint lane lines in Turn 2 that act as commitment lanes when passing. If you enter turn 2 on the outside, you can't go below the middle line. etc. It makes the racing a bit more predictable, which maybe that's boring. Maybes that's not letting racers race. But it'd alleviate some safety concerns. And it's not unprecedented. Everything I'm suggesting here is an alteration of either rules in place by NASCAR, or rules created by Tony Cotman at the end of Champ Car's lifetime.
My ideal IndyCar List 1: St. Petersburg 2: Daytona Road Course 3: Road Atlanta Race 1 4: Road Atlanta Race 2 5: Texas Motor Speedway 6: Indy Road Course (Drivers that do the Indy 500 also have to do this race) 7: Indy 500 (2x Points) 8: Detroit (Belle Isle) Race 1 9: Detroit (Belle Isle) Race 2 10: Road America *Summer Break* 11: COTA 12: Atlanta Motor Speedway 13: Iowa Speedway Race 1 14: Iowa Speedway Race 2 15: Toronto 16: Portland 17: Laguna Seca 18: Long Beach
Ooh this is a fun video! I would add... Cleveland. Because Turn 1. Mont Tremblant - one of the few downsides of re-unification was that the series never returned here after a phenomenal Champ Car race in 2007. Some more short ovals: Phoenix, Richmond, even Sanair?! It's a shame that the attempted revival of New Hampshire in 2011 was such a farce. (Nigel Mansell's run there in 1993 was a masteclass, well worth a watch.) As for what can be taken out... Toronto's various redesigns of the start/finish/pits complex to shoehorn it in around building developments have ruined it; I'm even less of a fan of the IMS road course; and (speak it quietly) when did Mid-Ohio last produce a good race?
I made my own Indycar 2024 calendar And I add two races in Mexico (because Im mexican) 1st is in the Autodromo H.Rodriguez And the 2nd one is in Monterrey, NL, Mex. That is the city where Pato was born And I add those two because when Adrian Fernandez, Mario Dominguez and Michel Jourdain Jr raced in CART, they race in those two tracks Then, I add also Surfers Paradise, Sao Paulo, Argentina in the Autodromo de Termas de Rio Hondo because I love that track. Motegi I forgot but yeah, I will ad Motegi And finally, I add the Circuit of Barcelona-Catalunya because I think Indycar needs to race in Alex Palou's home country And that is my 2024 Indycar Schedule
Might I suggest, Interlagos instead of the street circuit, that layout is pretty poor tbh and the infrastructure for the fans is simple not there (see last years Formula E race that happened there)

Way too many races. Cost for teams is a big consideration, and there's no way Indy will ever entertain more than 22-23 races (we can't even get them to look at a 20-race calendar!).
1. Autodromo Hermanos Rodriquez , Mexico 2. Texas Motor Speedway 3. Richmond 4. St. Petersburg 5 Long Beach 6. Indy road course 7. Indy 500 8 Mid Ohio Sports Car Course 9. Cleveland, Burke Lakefront Airport 10. Streets of Toronto 11. Road America 12. Milwaukee 1 13. Milwaukee 2 14. Iowa 1 15. Iowa 2. 16. Gateway 1 17. Gateway 2 18. Portland International Raceway 19. Streets of Vancouver 20. Streets of Edmonton 21. Laguna Sega Raceway 22. Streets of Nashville The emphasis would be on IndyCar being a North American racing series, not just a U.S. one with one Canadian race, nor an international one that goes everywhere.
Obviously Fontana can’t happen but here’s my 25 round dream calendar from a couple years ago: St. Pete Texas Long Beach Phoenix Indy 500 Belle Isle x2 Montreal Road America Iowa Pocono 500 Chicagoland Barber Milwaukee Michigan 500 Mid-Ohio Toronto Watkins Glen Richmond Gateway Fontana 400 Portland Mexico City Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez Laguna Seca Indy GP 5 speedways (3x 500) 6 short-med tracks 5 street circuits 9 permanent road courses Races outside of North America just don’t make sense for severql reasons. This is a North American championship with North American sponsors.
I think if indycar race in outside U.S.A it must be held on suzuka, jeddah, spa franchorchamp, interlagos, and of course shilvestone and for oval i think indy must held in taladega and motegi for motegi and suzuka it back to back race weeken in japan
Why try to copy the F1 calendar with mediocre circuits? Indy has access to FIA Grade 2. They could race at Fuji, Speedland Sugo, Autopolis, Zolder, Donnington, Brands Hatch, and so many more.
@@flyingphoenix113 who cares about f1 or what ever because silverstone and suzuka had corner more than 18 and had average speeed more than 220km/h in dry and why indycar not held in taladega.????
Use interlagos not São Paulo, Buenos Aires not Termas, Michigan not Pocono, and IRP not Indy Roval (I know it’s very short but I think it’s more than capable of handling Indy cars), and consider trading surfers paradise for Montreal
6:44 well a pretty good reason why they should disappear is because heyre literally trash. id much rather have sonoma and laguna seca than iowa, wtr and portland (+id love auto club back but its closed ofc)

My first impression... YAY!! COTA is'nt oon the schedule.. I am not a fan of that track. Evcen if it was designed to bring more sttention to the US via F!.
You are absolutely right but not about R.Penske! Traveling far was one of the reasons he helped destroy CART!
Half of it with road/street courses, 1/4 of it being short ovals and 1/4 of it being big ovals and the finale being 500 miles
The final being like a texas 500 would be awesome
As a NASCAR fan, I can tell you that you don’t need a 500 mile race. The Indy 500 obviously but that’s it
they need to go back to having 3 500 mile races a year. indy and other two idk maybe milwaukee and idk what else. just in my opinion. if someone wins all 3 give them a million dollars
I know it's greedy but I wouldn't be opposed to a couple races in Europe someday.
@@BryanWolfe21 500 laps at Milwaukee would be way too long of a race
Don't mind it. I hate doing doubles and 17 races is just not enough. I would love to see Cleveland come back also.
I actually like that schedule. It's not too dreamy and pretty exciting. It seems that the Motegi oval is out of use since the earthquake ...
Here’s my list:
1) St. Petersburg
2) Barber Motorsports Park
3) Long Beach
4) Grand Prix of Indianapolis
5) Indy 500
6) Streets of Detroit 1
7) Streets of Detroit 2
8) Texas
9) Phoenix
(Summer break!)
10) Watkins Glen
11) Streets of Toronto
12) Milwaukee Mile
13) Mid Ohio
14) Nashville GP
15) Worldwide Technology Raceway
16) Iowa
17) Mexico City (Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez)
18) Sanoma
19) São Paulo GP (Interlagos)
P.S. Idk a good finale race so yea
I like how you still managed to give Indycar some sort of international presence with Mexico City being added given their current financial status
Got room for Gilles-Villeneuve?
Hear me out interlagos as the finale since f1 won’t do it!!! Imagine the race it would put on
@@benjarsenault that would make sense to race at a week after Toronto or something.
@@johnnyweaver9946 that race would be really really good. You’re right🗣️
Having the Motegi oval back would be awesome however IIRC it can't be used any more due to the earthquake damage from 2011
Having Australia is amazing… but. The weather on the Gold Coast could be a big problem at that time of year
I love the trajectory of races you laid out after Indianapolis but you can feasibly shift up Detroit while only adding 3 or 4 hours of total drive time over the 3 weeks.
Also, I would argue that putting a race in the largest non-US market is NOT thinking outside the box. It's thinking solidly within the 6 walls of the box. IndyCar just has to LOOK AT the dang box!
IndyCar needs Watkins Glen, Pocono, and Michigan back, and Daytona Road Course would also be a nice touch.
Oh yeah Pocono back ! You want too seeing dying Indycar drivers ?
@@earlybirdearlybird1371 No, the thing is the cars are safer than they were before thanks the aeroscreen, and I reckon the track is no more dangerous than Indianapolis. What happened to Justin Wilson in 2015 was horrible, but I have reason to believe that safety advances will render future instances of that extremely unlikely.
@@calvinstraveldreams Believe me it is NOT SAVE ! Halo and Aeroscreen is a joke !
Some more crazy ideas from me: Motegi GP layout, Fuji, Bathurst, Aragon (MotoGP track in Spain), Lausitzring(German track with trioval and 3 different GP layouts), Daytona GP layout
I think fuji little bit boring after renovate in 2006 in japan suzuka would be perfect choise
@@MohamadBajuri-px4bgfun fact, indycar can actually race at Le Mans, the full course, as it is FIA Grade 2
Looks great. International races would be a great addition. The race count is ideal for me. We need more on track action. No double headers either!!
this is pretty much perfect, with the exception of dropping laguna seca. that is not the right move in my opinion, but otherwise this is a really good idea
My ideal schedule would be 20 races, split evenly between 5 superspeedways, 5 short tracks, 5 road courses and 5 street courses, with a rotating international exhibition race to start the season.
Here's how I'd do it:
0. Rotating Exhibiton*
1. St Pete
2. Homestead Miami
3. Barber
4. Long Beach
5. Texas
6. Indy
7. Detroit
8. Mid Ohio
9. Iowa
10. Road America
11. Toronto
12. New Hampshire Motor Speedway
13. Richmond Raceway
14. Chicagoland Speedway
15. Milwaukee
16. Nashville
17. Pocono Raceway
18. Gateway
19. Portland
20. Laguna Seca
*Exhibition Rotation: Surfers Paradise/Mexico/Motegi/Lausitzring/Argentina/Sao Palo
I'd Definitely see if it's possible to get a race at Gilles Villnueve. Cause I think that'd be fantastic but besides that's pretty solid schedule. I'd def be down to watch 😊
Hear, hear!!!
I would much prefer that Indy race at one of Canada's many historic tracks. CGV is fine, but it's not especially challenging, and it seems a poor choice when Mosport and Mont Tremblanc exist.
@@flyingphoenix113 what about a rotation then?
Champ Car's one excursion to Mont Tremblant in 2007 was an absolute joy.
am I the only one who remembers the 2020 Richmond race that never happened? Us in the northeast/mid-atlantic area are getting squeezed out of the racing scene lately. Pocono and Dover both lost a race in NASCAR, and Indycar no longer goes any further east than Mid-Ohio.
1:25-1:27 most likely track to do a IndyCar British Grand Prix is either Brands Hatch or Donington Park
Unfortunately Motegi's oval got decommissioned by an earthquake, that's why the final Indycar race there was raced on the road course....
Though Motegi would be great, it would either have to be road course, or the superspeedway would have to be repaired/renovated first.
Tram tracks? Pah! I don't know what you're complaining about. We had them in San Jose and Baltimore and that was... um... just fine?
😂
I would love to have Pocono back, mainly because it’s only 5 miles away from my home and I miss going there
I’m on board with that too since I’m also from PA. Naturally I agree that track needs upgrading in both safety features, marketing and promotion
My dream schedule:
1. Homestead - I propose that, because I've also proposed it as the NASCAR finale race. It would be a great asset for the series.
2. We go to Portland at the Superbowl weekend. That would be a good way of exposing the series. (And I've been watchimg the series since the IRL times, thus I propose that.)
3. COTA - so that we don't go to Long Beach right away.
4. Long Beach
1 werk break for the overseas travel.
5. Adelaide - I think it's the best place in Australia to hold a race.
6. I was thinking Fuji for the race in Japan, but you proposed Motegi. I'm going for what you proposed.
Break for overseas travel.
7. Road America
8. Kansas
9. Hermanos Rodríguez
10. Indy GP
11. Indy 500
Break for the second overseas leg.
12. Jerez (I propose it to be called the EU GP)
13. Brands Hatch (Dan Wheldon Memorial GP)
14. Magny-Cours - I propose that as a tripple major auto racing meeting - IndyCar on Friday (Dysneyland GP), NASCAR on Saturday (Dysneyland 200 or 300) and F1 on Sunday (French GP)
Travel break
15. Buenos Aires or the track you proposed
16. Sao Paulo
17. Texas - Back in the USA
If Texas becomes a superspeedway, then move ahead.
18. Detroit - would be in late July though
19. Toronto
20. Mid Ohio
20a. New Hampshire - if Texas becomes a superspeedway.
21. Nashville - will be the weekend of Indy 400 though.
22. Charlotte Roval
I really feel like NZ should get some representation, with drivers like Scott Dixon I think they've got big market potential
And, several excellent FIA Grade 2 circuits that could play host to a race!
is that a wild @JamesNS I here?? Awesome that this channel is all in on making quality content to fill the offseason. Same as always, great video and loving the consistent uploads.
Thanks man!
For the Brazilian race I would swap the São Paulo street circuit with Interlagos. Hopefully some of this comes true, Indycar could do with a few international races.
Great lists but the only thing I would change is a night time over to any superspeed way, Cali or Texas would be great.

if I'm not mistaken wasn't the twin ring oval damaged during one of the big earthquakes in the 2010s?
I personally think a race at daytona roval would be insane to watch
I think a good idea is to merge my favorite Indycar schedule, the 2001 CART season with the current and set it for 2025:
1. March 2: Grand Prix of St. Petersburg
2. March 16: Gran Premio / Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez
NC. March 23: The Thermal Club $1 Million Challenge
3. April 6: PPG 375 / Texas

6. May 25: Indianapolis 500
7. June 1: Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix
8. June 8: Wisconsin 250 / Milwaukee Mile
9. June 15: Iowa 300 / Nascar double header
10. June 29: Grand Prix of Portland
11. July 6: Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio
12. July 13: Honda Indy Toronto
13. July 27: Michigan 500

16. August 31: Pocono 500
17. September 14: Indy Japan 300
18. September 28: Grand Prix of Monterey
19. October 5: Big Machine Music City Grand Prix

I just wish more ovals. Nashville superspeedway instead street course. Plus Chicagoland and Kentucky are a must.
All great ideas!
Instead of Texas: hear me out…
Charlotte.
It would be a great way to appeal to possible fans (it being NASCAR country)
And it’s a fantastic track that definitely has the infrastructure to support Indycar
Schedule immediately into F tier if there’s no Laguna. Would literally rather have the 2024 schedule.
É disso que o povo gosta❤
I would definitely vote YES on that, being a diehard IndyCar oval fan myself!
Not a bad list.
I would finish the season with the Michigan 500. Much more exciting way to finish the year.
I would also try going to Brands Hatch plus a race at the Kymiring.
I think you forget Twin Ring Motegi's oval needs a lot work to be raceworthy
Pocono also needs plenty of upgrades to be worthy too! As I said it’s a semi-realistic dream rather than an actual calendar
A race one Daytona’s infield would be a fun mix of oval and corners
Im against the indy road course as i believe indycar at Indy only should be the oval
To replace the roadcourse we go to Michigan between Mid Ohio and Detroit
Also while i love the street race in Nashville i think an oval is where the finale should be so Nashville superspeedway is where i would have the finale
Yeet Detroit for MIS. Move Nashville to the speedway. And we need Chicagoland back
As many other comments have said about Motegi oval not being usable after the Earthquake, I think an IndyCar double header using the oval and then the road course would be a fun idea to see.
The other problem being the pitlane but based off the Nashville track for this year, it wouldn't be the only weird pitlane on the calendar.
indy needs returns to brazil !!! 🇧🇷🇧🇷
Penske needs to hire you... all the international races are PERFECT... AND THEY DONT try to either scrape up against or get F1 scraps. Good job 👏 👍 👌
Would really love there to be an indycar race here in the UK! Somewhere like Brands Hatch would be perfect for indycar, and there are a lot of UK indycar fans! I’d certainly go if prices are similar to what US indycar ticket prices are like
Not in any particular order:
IMS(duh), keeping the road course event to kick off May
Long Beach
Road America
Milwaukee
Texas or Charlotte
Michigan
Richmond
Laguna Seca
St Petersburg
Homestead
Iowa
WWTR(Gateway)
Barber
Cleveland
Mid-Ohio
Portland
Montreal
Mexico City
And if some promoters are willing to throw enough money at it to make some more long-distance international venues possible, I'd love to see a couple of the following....
Suzuka or Fuji
Rafaela(on the oval)
Silverstone
Surfer's Paradise or Bathurst
I think a race at Interlagos would better than the race at Sau Paulo. Its one of the best and most famous circuits in the world. The racing would be insane there. And the Lausitzring should make a return as well. Its a pretty underated in my opinion.

No Laguna Seca is actually insane
Only way I would be comfortable losing Laguna Seca is if we got Sonoma back.
I like this schedule Indycar should take notes
I’d scrap Pocono, and go to Cleveland on Burke lakefront airport, one of the all time great INDYCAR tracks
If you go Sao Paolo use the same track as F1. As for Nashville, no more street course use the1.5 mile ovel.
We need more ovals
I like the schedule but there is no way that the promoters of Road America and the Milwaukee Mile would allow races at each track on back to back weekends. The tracks are only about an hour apart and the schedule would have the potential to drain attendance from both races. Also, I am not sure why you would call the race at Laguna Seca "soul-less."
Great Video. Something I just thought of is six international tracks
Brazil: São Paulo
Spain: Circuit de Barcelona Catalonia or Jarama
Bahrain: Bahrain
Australia: Surfers Paradise
Asia: Twin Ring Motegi
Personality I drop Nashville for Fall Afternoon race at Michigan(500 miles) for season ffinale
Ooooooooo I like that
I think this is the only ideal calendar pitch that didn't have Montreal, personally I'd have added EuroSpeedway
Pocono, Texas and Homestead as ovals
Bring back Cleveland
Rest of the calendar is fine
50% road 50% ovals 25% small ovals (Iowa, milwaukee mile, etc) 25% bigger ovals (the 500, michigan, pocono etc)
30% real road circuits 20% street circuits. Thats i want to see current indy is getting too street circuit heavy keep atleast saint. pete and ofc long beach but bin the new detroit street circuit and bring belle isle back also replace nashville formula e circuit with nasville speedway.
Broke: Michigan or Pocono
Woke: Michigan AND Pocono
I think Pocono could be safer if they create a new line on the second straight higher up the track, and enforce it as a track limit.
My ideal IndyCar List
1: St. Petersburg
2: Daytona Road Course
3: Road Atlanta Race 1
4: Road Atlanta Race 2
5: Texas Motor Speedway
6: Indy Road Course (Drivers that do the Indy 500 also have to do this race)
7: Indy 500 (2x Points)
8: Detroit (Belle Isle) Race 1
9: Detroit (Belle Isle) Race 2
10: Road America
*Summer Break*
11: COTA
12: Atlanta Motor Speedway
13: Iowa Speedway Race 1
14: Iowa Speedway Race 2
15: Toronto
16: Portland
17: Laguna Seca
18: Long Beach
Ta
Texas is dead
Ooh this is a fun video! I would add...
Cleveland. Because Turn 1.
Mont Tremblant - one of the few downsides of re-unification was that the series never returned here after a phenomenal Champ Car race in 2007.
Some more short ovals: Phoenix, Richmond, even Sanair?! It's a shame that the attempted revival of New Hampshire in 2011 was such a farce. (Nigel Mansell's run there in 1993 was a masteclass, well worth a watch.)
As for what can be taken out... Toronto's various redesigns of the start/finish/pits complex to shoehorn it in around building developments have ruined it; I'm even less of a fan of the IMS road course; and (speak it quietly) when did Mid-Ohio last produce a good race?
I made my own Indycar 2024 calendar
And I add two races in Mexico (because Im mexican)
1st is in the Autodromo H.Rodriguez
And the 2nd one is in Monterrey, NL, Mex. That is the city where Pato was born
And I add those two because when Adrian Fernandez, Mario Dominguez and Michel Jourdain Jr raced in CART, they race in those two tracks
Then, I add also Surfers Paradise, Sao Paulo, Argentina in the Autodromo de Termas de Rio Hondo because I love that track.
Motegi I forgot but yeah, I will ad Motegi
And finally, I add the Circuit of Barcelona-Catalunya because I think Indycar needs to race in Alex Palou's home country
And that is my 2024 Indycar Schedule
Wasn’t the CART Fundadoria Park in Monterrey?
@@jonnyspa27 THAT ONE, YES
If I remeber correctly, the race was called
Tecate Gran Premio of Monterrey
And the last time we saw that track was 2006
@@checocrackserrano8608 the track was flat-ish, but not bad either.
Ims has no lights other than the led screens
Might I suggest, Interlagos instead of the street circuit, that layout is pretty poor tbh and the infrastructure for the fans is simple not there (see last years Formula E race that happened there)

@@BryanWolfe21Labor Day is on the 1st Weekend of September
Way too many races. Cost for teams is a big consideration, and there's no way Indy will ever entertain more than 22-23 races (we can't even get them to look at a 20-race calendar!).
1. Autodromo Hermanos Rodriquez , Mexico
2. Texas Motor Speedway
3. Richmond
4. St. Petersburg
5 Long Beach
6. Indy road course
7. Indy 500
8 Mid Ohio Sports Car Course
9. Cleveland, Burke Lakefront Airport
10. Streets of Toronto
11. Road America
12. Milwaukee 1
13. Milwaukee 2
14. Iowa 1
15. Iowa 2.
16. Gateway 1
17. Gateway 2
18. Portland International Raceway
19. Streets of Vancouver
20. Streets of Edmonton
21. Laguna Sega Raceway
22. Streets of Nashville
The emphasis would be on IndyCar being a North American racing series, not just a U.S. one with one Canadian race, nor an international one that goes everywhere.
More international races, including Silverstone, Red Bull Ring, Zandvoort, Suzuki & others.
Easy Ovals Road Course and international races
Interlagos could be a choice for Brazil.
Fp1will agrees with all of this except nashville
Indianapolis night Race
Obviously Fontana can’t happen but here’s my 25 round dream calendar from a couple years ago:
St. Pete
Texas
Long Beach
Phoenix
Indy 500
Belle Isle x2
Montreal
Road America
Iowa
Pocono 500
Chicagoland
Barber
Milwaukee
Michigan 500
Mid-Ohio
Toronto
Watkins Glen
Richmond
Gateway
Fontana 400
Portland
Mexico City Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez
Laguna Seca
Indy GP
5 speedways (3x 500)
6 short-med tracks
5 street circuits
9 permanent road courses
Races outside of North America just don’t make sense for severql reasons. This is a North American championship with North American sponsors.
I’d love a montreal race
I just want Surfer's Paradise back.
Bruh no Laguna Seca...
@@flyingphoenix113 add lemans with mulshane straight without chicane
all i want is sebring
Silverstone, Brazil and Mexico.
Use interlagos not São Paulo, Buenos Aires not Termas, Michigan not Pocono, and IRP not Indy Roval (I know it’s very short but I think it’s more than capable of handling Indy cars), and consider trading surfers paradise for Montreal
St. Pete Held the opener past like 15* seasons
Wasn’t it the season finale in 2020? But yes it has held the opener for a consistent length of time
6:44 well a pretty good reason why they should disappear is because heyre literally trash.
id much rather have sonoma and laguna seca than iowa, wtr and portland (+id love auto club back but its closed ofc)
Indycar needs to go back to Cleveland, Burke Lakefront Airport. Period. I don't care about the rest of the schedule.
I feel like is should only stay in the Americas other than that it’s good
