Heres another Jojo reference: In KoF 2002, one of Terry's victory poses shows him and i think his son pointing at the opponent, with the child in front of him, wimilar to Jotaro's victory pose in HFTF (1998)
I always thought it was petty how Capcom got butthurt over Ryo but then proceeded to make shotos and/or characters similar in appearance to Ryu and Ken for years. Not to mention all the "original" character designs they created over the years.
I spent a bit of my youth being an SF Fanboy. Even when I moved over to King of Fighters, I didn't really see too much personality from Ryo and never appreciated Art of Fightings art style or gameplay. So when I saw him in King of Fighters, I immediately took him to be a rather unimaginative Ryu/Ken rip off. But over time, when I started being exposed to the canon behind him and other characters like King. He eventually grew on me over time. It wasn't until Khushnood debuted in Garou that I really started getting on the Kyokugen bandwagon. I feel like Ryo was the one character in the Kyokugen roster who took the longest to appeal to me. There were some silly design choices made with Ryo as his fighting style didn't feel very refined until later King of Fighters. Take for example, that bizarre neutral stance he had for a while, with his arms stretched out. That was a...very mortal kombat-ish pose. XIII is probably the culmination of what Ryo could be. He seemed like a legitimately powerful Karateka, his neutral stance was very conventional, and his attacks just had so much impact. So it's been great to see this design grow. But overall, I would say the Kyokugen canon comes second to the Kim canon in terms of how robust the entire cast is. You really get a sense of a familial connection between all Kyokugen characters. They also have some of the most entertaining substories of the cast--such as Ryo and King's attempted platonic interactions to the Kyokugen Barbeque chain introduced in XIV. It really gives the sense that outside of competition, the Kyokugen characters are regular people.
Ryo was always much more fun to play than Ken and Ryu. Also his game play had more personality then both. It was the main reason why I was drawn to him. I never liked his old stance though. Glad it was changed in more modern games.
@@sladejosephwilson2300 I agree. I grew up with Ryu and Ken but...I find Ryo to be more iconic personally. He just has a better personality and more accurate Karate moves.
The 1st game is doable and I beat it when in the morning. Mr. Karate is hard though but that game is story driven. The 2nd game has the most bs ai but not much story and more emphasis on game play and characters which was fun except the ai is hell. The 3rd game was different, pretty, story driven, and easier but the roster and game play feels so much different.

Mi segundo personaje favorito de todos KOF, el gran Ryo solo espero verlo algún día junto con king, son una buena pareja, y sin duda espero verlo en KOF XV y quizá nos confirmen el romance
Heres another Jojo reference:
In KoF 2002, one of Terry's victory poses shows him and i think his son pointing at the opponent, with the child in front of him, wimilar to Jotaro's victory pose in HFTF (1998)
Ryo Sakazaki and Robert Garcia completely join King in KOF 15 is Team Art Of Fighting
Huge ryo fan right here
I always thought it was petty how Capcom got butthurt over Ryo but then proceeded to make shotos and/or characters similar in appearance to Ryu and Ken for years. Not to mention all the "original" character designs they created over the years.
4:00 that king look so buff af
Love your videos
Keep it up bro !!!
I wasnt expecting this but great video
Nice job, Shoryu. Another great Lore Installment ✴. I like Ryo and his Co. even more now. They're warming up to me.
Dude, I would love to see a vid on Kim Kaphwan and his ragtag family.
Keep up the good work! :D
It's a damn shame I find Art of Fighting so excruciatingly hard and cheap, otherwise I'd have fun going through Ryo's story. I like this guy.
*it was Takuma, of course*
Keep up the great work. You're videos are awesome. As an long time fan of snk & Capcom I have to say you know your stuff
Id love nothing more then to have ryo as my master so i could learn ryukugenryu karate
Underrated as hell! SNK needs to give the character some more love.
I agree.
The first and second Art of Fighting should be adapted into anime features
What an awesome video! Subscribed!
GREAT VIDEO! Do you have lore for each of the characters?
Ryo sakazaki is one of a kind the Kyokugenryu has bless him with a incredible gift Ryo has truly sue passed his father in every Way 👊🏻👊🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🐲 invincible Dragon
Tremendous! I love your work.
Your videos are lit man. Salute.
Art of fighting should be like 1980s movies more than 90s
I've always loved SNK's art work. It's t's mesmerizing.
I really like this video and it was really nice. I hope that there are more of this video. :)
man i really LOVE ur work keep it up :)
Snk could make so many amazing live action movies based off these different lores
Takuma definitely gives Goku a run for his money as the world's most negligent father. 😄
Nice Video Bro
You should make a video on Robert
Great content! Keep it up
@ShoryuGame
Another great video! Keep up the good work! 😁
People keep saying Mr. Karate doesn't stand a chance against Shin Akuma. See how Takuma deflects a Laser beam. WOW!!
I believe he can hang with Akuma but at the same time Akuma destroyed a hole mountain and speaking of Snk I will love to see a Capcom VS SNK 3.
@@jblue88hoodgamer54 me too!
Mr. Karate is already powerful despite being limited by old age, wearing out his body, and not having any dark powers. Imagine if Mr. Karate had a better body or some dark powers. Then he would beat Akuma's ass.
Hope SNK Vanilla Ryo Syndrome ends soon
same!
Have anyone told you how your editing skills are significantly improving?
To me, they are. Especially with the way you transit to the Art of Fighting timeline and that joke on Takuma’s not-so-secret identity.
Great video. Thank you
