I bought one on Amazon too. Came with straps and rear poles. Rear straps too. Also a boot. I had to cut it down 2 inches on each side to fit my 50 in wide Sears Gamefisher Vee fiberglass boat. 54 in. Min. Is all I could find. Perfect!! Added 2 in. Of side wall shade too!

Side-panels are great but only when anchored.

I'm with you side shade panels are awesome. Makes me wonder if they might have another one sold separately that might be half that width to help with the visibility issue.

These side are pretty unique; in a bimini top these would be considered an "enclosure".
Enclosures are usually custom fitted and expensive as all H E double-hockey sticks.
Why? Don't know. Its such a simple thought that adds so much functionality, I don't know why it hasn't been done before.
Also, if I ordered the same size top as the one I removed it wouldn't have been an issue. I just didn't want such a huge top.
I think these have a time for use, you may not always want to use them, but they sure will come in handy when you do!
The also fit inside the storage boot, so that is a huge plus.

The side panels are awesome. I wish I have the same with my Bimini. Instead I'm using bath towels and clothespins, it definitely not looks as beautiful!

You got it made in the shade. Love it. The only negative for me would be all that sail area blowing the boat across the water too fast while drift fishing.

      @BrandonsGarage  2 года назад

I thought about that too, but in the wind you're getting pushed where the wind wants you to go anyway; the sides didnt really seem to make a difference.
On a side not, when I'm out on the water and want to put the top up, I usually call it "Putting up the sail"

Like the did curtains but not the view , put windows in them ! Cut hole sew in clear plastic and BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE 🧨 ! By the way …. Sun rises in the east and sets in the west buddy ! Lmao. Don’t the top store forward also ? Does it have a built in bag for storage ? Get some bait and wet a line for me ! I’d like to see your collection of outboards on a video sometime ! Any A models or P or k’s ? I picked up a 3hp folding Ducktwin with case yesterday , case is worth more then the motor ! Lol. And sold out of 2hp outboards also ! I can’t keep enough 2hp , 3hp and 6’s in stock , I post it and sell that day usually ! Of course 9.9hp and 15’s are that way also ! L8er bud !

I was going to throw in a flat earth joke too, but I was afraid nobody would catch it or think I was serious.
My collection is a mess, when I move the hoard out here nothing was very tidy, and it has stayed that way. Most of what I call "steel hood" engines I have sold off. I just don't have the room for them anymore. What I would like is a full collection from the same year. I almost had a 1977 set going, but later realised I was being silly.
As far as little (single cylinder) engines, I have 3?, but nobody around here would buy one as its not something that is too ideal on the river.

@@BrandonsGarage I had the same thought about just singling out one years models and went with 1958 ( year I was born ) I have all but 1 , missing the 35hp is all and all my badges are very nice ! I like the color scheme also ! Here the duck hunters love them because there so light to carry out to the blind , most like the 6 but some like the 2’s and 3’s on canoes ! 1977 was a good year to collect if you can find the Australian and European models of OMC’s ! I had a 14hp Australian Johnson but sold it !

I am most likely going to get an old bass boat for little to no money with a johnson 85, like the one in the video, any advice on what to check for before I get it? I don't want to find out it is not repairable and end up with just junk I have to get rid of. Thanks! Love your videos.

The wood, or decking, and carpet are incredibly difficult to replace. Second problem is they tend to get beat on and the hulls start to crack below the driver seats.
Looks for broken aluminum or welds. If all good, go for it.
