Nice Bimini top Stu. Great addition to any boat. I've found that they seem to last longer by spraying them with scotch guard or whatever fabric waterproofing spray you can get your hands on every now and then. The waterproofing spray also makes the water run right off them and bird poop don't soil them as easy.
Mixing a solution of 3 parts metho to 1 part silicone sealant then mixing it around so the silicon dissolves is great for water proofing. I do this to all my cycling kit. Lasts a year or so. Just mix it up, brush it on with a paint brush, let it dry and watch the water bead off it.
I put one on my boat 8-9 years ago. love it. keeps the sun off when you start to burn. I also added adhesive white led lights to the middle support poles with the wire zpi tied down to the boat and a quick disconnect. so its easily removed when I take the top off. its like having a ceiling light in your living room while fishing at night.
I love your channel and, from what I've seen, your viewers/commenters. Everyone seems genuinely interested and helpful. Keep up the great work and content. Super-informative, knowledgeable, and practical. I've watched damn near everything. Awesome stuff, sir.
I have the same Bimini and the instructions show the solid bar going to the front in the diagram it indicates the tag (labelled “front”) is on the end of the solid bar. After watching this I realise they had the instructions wrong and it all works if I reverse the cover over. I was provided screw head screws along with thumb screw type screws so I just put the regular screw head (requiring screw driver) down the bottom which avoids the rubbing against a pole or pier issue. Thanks for the great video.
The twisted strap idea is very true. Indusrial chimneys have spiral twists to do the exact same job (Vortex generators to breakup air flow induced oscillations)
Inspired me to install the Bimini I had sitting in my shed for years. Turns out it's the wrong size for my boat (Came with the boat). Went to BCF and got a new one. I was also inspired to purchase some bench seat cushions from an online retailer. What a difference it's made. Turned my little tinny into a first class liner. Shade and comfort.
Hey guys, I put one on my boat this spring and got to use it all summer. I'd seen them on many other boats and always wanted one. It was a great decision to add it to the boat. I did do something drastically different though. I put it on backwards so that it stows above my windsheild. I'd never seen anyone do that so I was a little nervouse but it works great. I bought the tallest one available so I'd have a little more head room for the fishing poles plus if I step up to the bow there is extra head space. Give it a try next time or if you don't mind a couple more holes in the boat you could spin the one you have around, Take care
Great job Stu. I've only just discovered your channel and am pretty much addicted! Thanks so much for all the hard work producing these and sharing your knowledge with us all. Really enjoying the sense of humour and being new to boating, I'm learning loads. I now understand how a beer is essential to all boat & motor work! 🍺🍻🛥. Cheers from Marlow in England mate.
Gday mate biminis are great for small boats sometimes they can be a pain in the arse when fishing but when your out on a 40 degree day even just having that over you to block the sun makes a world of difference ,your lucky i had to do mine by myself trying not to scratch the paintwork .When i was trailering it i used a set of home made bungy cords and had it rest on the motor cowling with a towel underneath to stop scratching from the sock good video .
Good job once again mate.I have a canopy on my tinny which is great for rain and sun but is a pain when casting.I got caught out in a heavy down pour and was glad I had it.
My boat has a similar Bimini however it has a track system for the rear support poles which is nice because you can slide then forward and fold the Bimini all the way back and flat in front of the motor
Co-sign the 'twist in the strap' technique. I found that myself after some trial/error. My front straps would buzz and sound like chainsaws at speed in the wind! Just a half-twist does the trick. Also, I found my boat is harder to stay on plane and porpoises more easily when my top is up. I guess it was acting like a sail. I loosened/tightened the straps here and there, angling the leading edge down a bit and that lessened the sail effect. Just a tip.
It sure does help. Good point about adjusting the angle of the bimini until the boat rides nicely. I definitely tried to angle mine down as much as I could.
I have the 3 bow version on my tinny. Great product for the price!. It was actually cheaper than buying new fittings for the old bimini that came with my boat.
I just recently found your channel and I love watching you're videos. I recently bought a Cape Craft 160CC with a 60 Yahama that has overheating issues. I will be trying to figure it out soon as we get some clear weather. Thanks for keeping your videos simple and informative. Keep up the good work.
This is what I have coming soon, my boat has versitrack a channel that runs inside gunnels hoping to be able to just use 1/4” carriage bolts in track but if doesn’t work out I have aluminum angle iron I can bolt to versitrack, it might be very simple, same 4 bow with rear supports I may add front supports for extra rigidity I want to see the length of the first rear supports first as 4 supports will have to be the right lengths to adjust tightness of fabric
The strap without a twist suffers from aeroelastic separation or flutter. Same problem occurs with sharp leading edges on airfoil. A blunt leading edge flys smoother with no darting or flutter.
Ha! That's cool. Say hi for me. :) I know what you mean about plastic. Somebody mentioned that you can get aluminium parts to upgrade, but I'll see how long the cover itself lasts in the sun first.
awsome addition to the green machine i know you will reap the cool benefits:) on my old cutter i also add a bimni i used the stock kit that came with the plastic connectors they lasted here in canada for a few summers before they cracked after hot sun and cold winters , i ordered the stainless ones then realized that they were way to much cash , i went with the aluminum ones , and added a slider track down a short length of my gunnel so that i could slide forward or back :) just my 2 cents , great video Stu even for a first bimini install very well said and interesting vid as always , the twist in the tension straps one great tip also cheers
Interesting idea about adding a slider track. If I have trouble with these plastic fittings I might also look into upgrading them to aluminium ones. I'm thinking if I leave the canopy up (which I have been so far) it will probably be the first thing to go from UV so I might end up replacing the whole thing every two or three years, time will tell I guess.
Dangar Marine I have a Yamaha 200hp on my boat and the motor runs on an external fuel tank, but I added 5 gallons to the boat tank witch had a few gallons of bad gas already in it, but when I go to siphon it the fuel line I put down in the boat tank I bought it out and the line on the end was dry so I'm not entering the fuel is there anything to do to enter the fuel?
If you want to get all the fuel out of the main tank I removed the ball hose and hooked up a small DC pump to that tube. Worked great and used that fuel in my old truck. If there is any water in the fuel you may want to take it to a hazard material site to get rid of it.
Dangar Marine Fletcher Arrowflyte 140Length 432 cm / 14' 2"Beam 160 cm / 5' 4"Weight 230 kg Are these the correct measurements for my boat ive got a fletcher arrowflyte 140 SL found them on iboats I want to fit this ? www.ebay.co.uk/itm/132572041143
Very similar design to mine. A few issues I have had from last season - I lost the travel sock/cover when towing the boat down the freeway. I would guess the air flow caused the zip to undo itself and so the cover stripped itself off. I now use a 4mm 'silver' rope to spiral wrap the bimini cover when transporting the boat. I haven't found a new cover yet. - Those nylocs in the bimini frame are easy to lose if you undo the hand screw - which I do for my lady to get on the boat. As per Murphies law, the nuts drop into the sand on the launch beach and disappear forever ( same place pens go to?) .A touch of glue saves them - I have found Silastic to be good as it has enough 'give' but holds the nuts in. But I still carry spares in the tool kit now. - Swapping of the brackets so the hand screw does not protrude over the side ( I did the same thing but for a different reason, losing a handle is hard to replace, a lost nut is far easier to source) , you will find it easier to drill the rivet out that retains the bracket and swap the brackets to the other side. a bit more of a fiddle but it works. - A spray of lanolin into the springs is also a good idea, they are plain steel springs, not stainless. Also the tubing on mine is aluminised thin wall steel, check yours with a magnet. It means you have to wipe the tubes down with a water dispersant now and then to keep corrosion at bay. Mine have started to corrode at the cut ends- a dip in some POR15 seems to have fixed that issue.
Good tip about glueing the nylocs into the brackets, I can see them falling out quite easily otherwise. A bit of pre-emptive maintenance to fight off the corrosion is also a good point. I think these poles are aluminium but I'll check them today.
That Green Machine looks pretty sexy now!!! The bimini is the best thing we ever added to our boat, very useful. Great video and seems like you guys had lots of fun there.. Awesome! ;)
Great video as usual. I really enjoy all of you you tube instructions. My top is worn out so I am just trying to find out where the better tops are sold so I can install one as well. I don't know if I can just buy the material and use my existing poles, or do I have to buy the whole kid. Glad to see you are still enjoying a cold one with your Buddies.
If you poles are still in good condition I'm sure you could get someone to sew up a replacement canopy out of any material quality you choose. That might turn out to be the best way to go.
Thanks Stew. I think I will do just that. I have reupholstered my seats this past winter and if I get someone to make me a top, I can get the colour very close to my seat colour. Thanks again.
My bimini is one of my favorite pieces of equipment on my boat. We get a lot of marine layer here in California in the morning so it keeps you dry and then later in the day when it’s sunny it cuts out a lot of the glare. Did they not have a green one!?
I have one of these on my boat but the top is getting a little worn out now. As I never take it down, I've been considering trying to convert the frame to a hardtop using some of that lightweight aluminium sandwich board (I don't know what it's actually called). This would also allow the installation of an extra windscreen between the leading edge and the exsisting screen which will make for a much more comfortable ride at speed. Have you ever done anything like that?
I haven't done it myself but you do see plenty of boats with thin aluminium riveted onto a frame like this. It also allows things like mounting an anchor light on top which is a good way to go.
I believe I ordered the same canopy and you have yours on backwards my friend. The strap should be to the rear of the boat and it should fold to the bow.
@@DangarMarine LOL when I made my comment I had not installed it yet and I had to install mine exactly like you did. You really have to customize it for yourself.
You don't find the bimini is way too flimsy, right where it is mounted? I just installed mine, and there is so much movement I'm afraid to drive with it up, thinking it's going to break on the water. I'm thinking of upgrading to stainless mounts.
cool mate.... hey mate as i was driving my boat today has a 90hp Yamaha 2stroke full throttle cruising along & it slows down & shut of but i pump up the fuel line then it's all right again wat u think abt it
are the fuel line from the petrol tank to the engine old? cause for me, my one literally was blocked up since it was so old. Fuel was going through, but when rubbish gets into the line itself, it clogs up and then my engine shuts off. my engine also shuts off when i put it in full throttle as there was not enough fuel going through and the hose gets tighten the the engine tried to suck fuel through. not sure why my hose started to constrict on itself in the first place (my guess is that the weather cause it to warp), but that's what happened to mine. I tested mine by disconnecting the hose from the engine and the fuel tank and removing the tips from both ends then blew through it. was extremely hard so i got that changed and now my engine is running great again... though not sure if thats the same issue with yours.
Have a look at Stu's older videos, he cuts an old fuel line up and shows how they break down inside and cause blockages, what to look for etc. Also - is your fuel bowls full when it happens? If not you start down the fuel pump check list/videos . But the easiest one - is the fuel tank vent open?
Great job on the video, really helps out individuals who are visual learners. The bars were sorted incorrectly in my pack as well from the manufacture, would have lost my mind if it weren't for your video indicating your problem. Cheers!
Forward stay on top was so close to the riser on light bar, I would have experienced with tieing those two riser bars together an go from there! Try it! Thanks, Tim
Hey dude, new to the outboard boating scene but watch your Chanel allot thanks for all the tips and tricks.....this is my first boat and I like vintage stuff 1968 Sea Sprite run about with original 40hp Evenrude.....I love this thing. QUESTION ❓❓ were can I find a original ish Bimini top for it.?????
another good Video. I would love to see you do a clip on that saltaway outboard flush or similar to see if it actually works. Keep up the good work thanks
I too would be interested in doing a video on it. I just need to think of a way to test it that is going to be worthwhile. Maybe taking the head off an old motor, looking at the galleries, flushing it then taking the head off again.
Stew love your channel and all your videos. Hopefully you may have a answer for me. Upon my grandfather's passing in 2015 I inherited his Fisher man cave included was a 1910 Evenrude outboard that he had purchased in 1911, cosmetically it is beautiful, it turns over freely I been able to source most of the parts to get her to run again as a tribute to him but rings seem to be a problem. Any ideas would be appreciated
Hi Mike. By rings are a problem are you referring to ordering them? Sounds like a great project. Getting original parts is obviously going to be tricky an outboard of that vintage but you may be able to get rings from an engineering shop that suit. Otherwise someone like Will from the Will's Garage RUclips channel may know as he is involved with several vintage outboard groups.
Stu do you think it is worth putting a small piece of plexiglass on the windscreen frame ahead of your steering position? Or do you find it dry enough without it?
Hi Matthew. I've been thinking about that for a while, but I can't do it on the port side and I can just imagine the look my wife would give me as we head across the river and I am the only one dry and warm! This is actually the only reason I haven't done it already...
I don't have this boat any more but you just unclip the two straps going down to the gunwhales and then it colapses together. Wrap some straps around it to stop it opening again.
greeetings from North Carolina in the US, had a Honda bf25 with a spark plug that had hot fire out of the head, screw it in and it had a dead skip. it had fuel and compression ( a new plug cured the issue ) can you explain what the hell was happening?
I unscrewed the bottom plug after i determined that is where the miss was, I put the plug against a head bolt to check if it was firing, it was, when i screwed it back in the head it stopped firing ( still missing). think it was damaged and grounding its self out, was curious if you has seen this before.
Dangar Marine, I was wondering because she looks like a fun boat to work on. I have a tiny little boat that I take fishing a couple dozen times a year and work on almost constantly.
This was a great video. I am installing one shortly and this will definately help. Quick question, i have a 1988 75hp johnson and i am looking for a tilt trim unit for it. Do you know if those unit came with only tilt assist or tilt trim? The space between the bracket for the engine is only 7 inches and the tilt trim i found is a lot larger. I was also told it may be a commercial engine . Would that be the case ?
Love the vid. I’m thinking about getting a Bimini but I want the screen at top of boat so I can get a proper cover. But what is the boat screen called.flybridge? Splash screen etc
I am going to fit a bimini to my 14ft tinnie, as usual your vids really show how things can be done. Are you going to fit solar panels to it and if you do can you do a video on installing them.
Hi Greg. I definitely plan to do a solar panel video at some stage but I'm not sure yet whether I'm going to do it on the Green Machine or a boat I'm planning on building some time soon.
Yes we are running the shoal bay b&b. Have a look at our web site.its worth a visit some time as you know.great fishing up here.also my little mercury is going strong after the work you did on it. Keep up the good work mate.regards kevin.
Dangar Marine I have a 2003 Yamaha 115 4 stroke, can I replace my lower unit with a 2012 Yamaha 150 4 stroke lower unit? If not, could you recommend a year that is interchangeable with my 2003 Yamaha
Not sure which ones are interchangeable, but in that situation I would go onto a site that sells parts online and compare the part numbers of the gear cases. If they are the same you should be good to go.
Another engine problem on my honda 15HP 4stroke. The ignition sucks. If it doesn't fire up I reconnect the wires on the Bobine until it fires up again... Very weird
evinrude johnson 6 hp 2 stroke 1969 brand new coil reading from green wire to spark plug outlet pin {inside the coil no lead fitted } digital mulit meter reading set on20k is 10.26 is this to high ?
Hi dangerstu I've been loving your videos and have been binge watching them! I have a question I have a 1974 Chrysler 45hp and was wondering what the right fuel oil mix I should use and weather or not running a little more oil would be an idea as it is an older engine?? Cheers
Thanks mate, glad you've been enjoying the vids. I'm not sure what it is designed to run on. You can usually find PDF copies of the owners manuals online that will tell you. It is usually around 50:1, but running a bit of extra oil isn't bad unless you do a lot of idling / trolling in which case the plugs will probably foul up.
A bit late to the party. Would it be worth considering the angle the boat sits at when on plane, so that the Bimini is then horizontal and offering the least air resistance? Otherwise, you may be installing a huge air brake to reduce forward speed.
Is there anyone that can help me with the torque specs for the 10 bolts of the cylinder head of a suzuki dt40 from 1983? And maybe for the 4 smaller ones that hold the cooling cover? Many thanks upfront.
I've never done one of those but I'll let you know if I come across the spec. MarineEngine.com has a forum dedicated that Suzuki outboards that might be able to help www.marineengine.com/boat-forum/forumdisplay.php?966-Outboard-Motors-Forum
Thanks for the reply, anyway i finally found them if anyone else is interested the 6mm bolts are 8-10 N-m and the 8mm bolts are 20-23 N-m. I have him running fine again, thanks for the inspiring video's you make it helped me so much in my boating proces ;).
neat job Stu and was great to see the lads back in front of the camera helping out. I 'm guessing you left the bimini up for the first week ..would I be correct ?
Not a fan of screws either. I can see those stainless steel screws working themselves out of the alloy hull. My rule of thumb is always bolts and nuts so long as you can reach both sides of the bolt.
+1 to the idea of a twist in the tie down on the bimini. I do it out of habit now, makes a huge difference, especially as you get faster.
Hey Jack, spraying it sounds like a good idea. I'll see what I can find.
@K S yep.
This bimini top is made in our factory, It's great that you can give it such a detailed introduction. You're amazing.
Thanks mate. That bimini worked really well. :)
What make and model is that bimini top? I don't see any on the Marine Engine website.
It is great to have a bit of shade when your out on the boat for sure. I like the idea of the light too, I really enjoy night fishing.
LOL @ 5:44 Your mate was trying to control his laughter when you said "black knob" that's funny here in the states too!
You should see all the bits we edited out when I was struggling to get my black knob in the hole.
I was laughing when you said "aft hole" as well.
robbynelson3 heard that too.
Dangar Marine HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
"Set of destructions." Perfect.
And then there's the "Pulls to the right" comment.....
14:40 That really is a Pro tip! Never knew that. Many thanks for sharing this!
I love your channel and, from what I've seen, your viewers/commenters. Everyone seems genuinely interested and helpful. Keep up the great work and content. Super-informative, knowledgeable, and practical. I've watched damn near everything. Awesome stuff, sir.

The twisted strap idea is very true. Indusrial chimneys have spiral twists to do the exact same job (Vortex generators to breakup air flow induced oscillations)
Good to see you're mates helping you out on this one. Looked like they had a good time
Thanks Tim!

Hi mate, I have seen a couple around that way and I agree it can be a good way to go depending on the layout of the boat.
Good add and in the rain it’s lower. 😅
Great job Stu. I've only just discovered your channel and am pretty much addicted! Thanks so much for all the hard work producing these and sharing your knowledge with us all. Thanks Paul, glad you've been enjoying the vids. :)
I was thinking about getting a bimini as well. Your video helped take away the apprehension of installing it. Thank you.
You're welcome John, it was pretty straightforward in the end.
Thanks mate, they certainly give some welcome shade on a hot day, that's for sure.
They sure do even if the sun is shining into the boat just being out of its direct force makes a heap of difference.
Good job once again mate.I have a canopy on my tinny which is great for rain and sun but is a pain when casting.I got caught out in a heavy down pour and was glad I had it.
I mostly bought it for heading across on rainy days. I'm almost looking forward to the first downpour! ;)
Dangar Marine You will wonder why you didn't do it sooner.

Yes, they are sold quite cheap as a full kit.
Just kidding mait,,,this one is way better than the last ones i've seen,,,more short, concise and direct to the point, excellent.
Thanks mate.
I just recently found your channel and I love watching you're videos. I recently bought a Cape Craft 160CC with a 60 Yahama that has overheating issues. I will be trying to figure it out soon as we get some clear weather. Thanks for keeping your videos simple and informative. Keep up the good work.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who always has a beer within easy reach when I work on my boat! Must be doing it right!
I've always said it, never try to fix a boat without a beer!
Ahh yes.. Paul Dave and Stu.. the connotation crew. Coming to a workshop near you ! You make a very entertaining trio that's for sure
There is never connotation or innuendo when we get together! ;)

It's not a Dangar Marine without a Beer Mate - A !!!. Great video Stu !!!.
It would be a sad day indeed if you couldn't have a beer while working on your boat!
small world !! seth is just a jaunt away. nice top except the plastic. and only a three beer installation.cant beat that even with a stiff one. cheers

Yup, from my experience they last a season or two at most.
Hey, that was me! Great to see the tip worked for you. I'm now famous. Hehe. Great video again.
Thanks for the tip! :)
Now if only there were so easy a way to stop lines from slapping on the mast.

Great stuff mate ,Thanks for all your tec tips ,and adventures ,
My pleasure!
Like John Mac I am keen to put a bimini on my dory, your video has given me confidence to do it, thanks.
You're welcome mate, it's definitely something you can DIY without too much trouble.
Great job, love the Bimini. That should keep the sun off you while out on the water.
Cheers 🍻

I need one Texas sun and 100 no joke 10:00 Iam out usually Have a 16.5 jon w a 60 Yamaha so a 3 bay would work
Great video. Love the "dry" humor. The hardest working thing in your shop seems to be a bottle of beer.
Thanks mate, never try and work on a boat without a beer. :)
Gonna put a water fuel separator on today so do you think a six pack will be sufficient?
Greg Stephens I'd start with and then one every fifteen minutes 'til done.
Very helpful video. I too was wondering who made that particular bimini cover. I see you didnt answer someone else that asked that question.
I love the hawksbury mate, a few mates and i get a houseboat every year and spend a few days on the water.....beautiful
It's not a bad spot to go boating. :)
That Green Machine looks pretty sexy now!!! The bimini is the best thing we ever added to our boat, very useful. Great video and seems like you guys had lots of fun there.. Awesome! ;)
Thanks mate. I'm really happy with the bimini, I'm almost looking forward to the first rainy day. ;)
nice work Stu. I install bimini tops all the time.
Thanks Will, I can see why you get a lot of requests for them now, it's been great having it on the boat. :)
Great video. Love to see some guys drinking cold beers and wirki g in a project
At 0:52 did you say "destructions" instead of "instructions" haha
My bimini is one of my favorite pieces of equipment on my boat. We get a lot of marine layer here in California in the morning so it keeps you dry and then later in the day when it’s sunny it cuts out a lot of the glare. Did they not have a green one!?
They certainly are handy. I should have sprayed it green. ;)
@@DangarMarine awesome, that's all I need to know. Looks like that's gonna be this weekend's project. Cheers :)
Great job Stu!!
Thanks mate!
Good job very good with details included 👌 👍 👏 😀 😊 🙌
Excellent video as usual. I love your videos. Thanks mate.
I believe I ordered the same canopy and you have yours on backwards my friend. The strap should be to the rear of the boat and it should fold to the bow.
I had it folding back because we tie bow up to the wharf and need to climb out over the front.
@@DangarMarine LOL when I made my comment I had not installed it yet and I had to install mine exactly like you did. You really have to customize it for yourself.
I like the twist strap trick! Didn’t know that.
Hey mate! Can you easily fold the bimini fully flat on the gunwales? I want to buy one for my new tinny but it might not fit through my carport
Very easily. Two quick release straps.
Just got mine. Those 110 degree days are so much worse with the sun. The little bit of fishing area is worth it.
You don't find the bimini is way too flimsy, right where it is mounted? I just installed mine, and there is so much movement I'm afraid to drive with it up, thinking it's going to break on the water. I'm thinking of upgrading to stainless mounts.
I was actually surprised how sturdy this turned out to be once the ties were taught.
cool mate.... hey mate as i was driving my boat today has a 90hp Yamaha 2stroke full throttle cruising along & it slows down & shut of but i pump up the fuel line then it's all right again wat u think abt it
are the fuel line from the petrol tank to the engine old? cause for me, my one literally was blocked up since it was so old.
Sombody You Dont Know thanks mate okay ill try that...😊😊
Have a look at Stu's older videos, he cuts an old fuel line up and shows how they break down inside and cause blockages, what to look for etc.
Also - is your fuel bowls full when it happens? If not you start down the fuel pump check list/videos .
But the easiest one - is the fuel tank vent open?
Yep, I'd definitely check fuel lines and vent.
Brilliant! Thank you. I believe I purchased the same exact Bimini.
Nice videos, do the bimini take much speed of the boat?
No, I didn't notice much change at all.
Thank you for posting this video. I am just going to order a Bimini top for my Blue Fin V-hull...
You're welcome Samuel, good luck with the job. :)
That twist in the strap is an old trucker trick to keep your straps from flopping around when you’re pulling flatbed. 👍🏻 🚛💨
Yep, works a treat.
Im going to be using the twist technique on my trucks tie down straps as well.. genius
It's amazing how bit a difference it makes.
dot wont like that
I love the subtle snicker at "black knobs". In the states it's just an ordinary word, but I know what the deal is over your side ;-D
Dangar Marine Thanks for your reply. I have found a machine shop that will make them for a almost reasonable cost.
I just bought the same bimini top for my aluminum boat. Not bad for the price at $122.00 US. Shipped.
I noticed you didn't collapse it fully down to the engine. Do you have to removed the thumb screws to do that?
I like your videos. thanks. content is always great and accurate.
Glad you like them!
Can you show the video on stowing the top?
I don't have this boat any more but you just unclip the two straps going down to the gunwhales and then it colapses together. Wrap some straps around it to stop it opening again.
greeetings from North Carolina in the US, had a Honda bf25 with a spark plug that had hot fire out of the head, screw it in and it had a dead skip. it had fuel and compression ( a new plug cured the issue ) can you explain what the hell was happening?
I'm not quite sure I understand. What one of the plugs loose? If so it may have got damaged.
I unscrewed the bottom plug after i determined that is where the miss was, I put the plug against a head bolt to check if it was firing, it was, when i screwed it back in the head it stopped firing ( still missing). think it was damaged and grounding its self out, was curious if you has seen this before.
The giggle when stu said black knobs 😂
Why don't you put some perspex in that hole in front of the steering wheel?
Mostly because perspex makes it very hard to see on rainy nights.
Dangar Stu, I'm curious, what's the Green Machine's LOA? I'm guessing about 18' (5.5 m). She's unique, whatever her size.
It's a 4.6 metre DeHavilland Offshore.
Dangar Marine, I was wondering because she looks like a fun boat to work on. I have a tiny little boat that I take fishing a couple dozen times a year and work on almost constantly.
do you measure the full width or the point to which you would attach the frame?
Thanks Chris. They generally just call them "clears." A flybridge is the second deck you see on bigger boats for steering from up high.
Dangar what kind of fish do you fish for?
Mostly for flathead, bream and whiting. You occasionally get a big Mulloway which is nice. :)
Hi Stew, another great video.I am up at Nelson Bay now,if ya ever up this way drop,Best Regards.
Nice part of the world!
What was the accident you mentioned?
Yes we are running the shoal bay b&b. Have a look at our web site.its worth a visit some time as you know.great fishing up here.also my little mercury is going strong after the work you did on it. Keep up the good work mate.regards kevin.
I'll check it out, sounds like a nice weekend away. Glad the Merc is running well. :)
What type and hp motor is that? I think I heard Yamaha but I'm not sure. Love your vids by the way very easy to understand. :)
Thanks mate. It's a Honda BF40A.
Dangar Marine thanks just looking for reference I have a boat about the same size that I plan to put a 35 hp merc on
Another engine problem on my honda 15HP 4stroke. The ignition sucks. If it doesn't fire up I reconnect the wires on the Bobine until it fires up again... Very weird
Bobine?
evinrude johnson 6 hp 2 stroke 1969 brand new coil reading from green wire to spark plug outlet pin {inside the coil no lead fitted } digital mulit meter reading set on20k is 10.26 is this to high ?
No idea. You'd need to track down the service manual for that motor to find the specs.
Instead of drilling the rivet out to flip the knob to the inside, could you just replace the knob with a nut and bolt to replace the knob?
That probably is a better way to go give you don't often need to take it out, not even to collapse it.
where did you buy it?
I got it on eBay.
How do I know what size I’ll need? Thank you.
I just measured the width of the boat (its beam) and found one that matched that measurement.
Nice video, well done! Great tip on the twist, gonna use that, Buddies always work for beer...
just gotta keep'em under a six-pack ;-)
Thanks mate, and you're dead right, they need to be rationed. ;)
Generally a boat will point up getting on the plane and then sit pretty flat again once at full speed.
Your calender on the wall look good too lol
I ended up drilling out my rivets to put the side knobs on the inside. best decision i made with my bimini
Sounds like the way to go to avoid any disasters.
Great tip! Thanks for the video!
neat job Stu and was great to see the lads back in front of the camera helping out. I 'm guessing you left the bimini up for the first week ..would I be correct ?
I haven't taken it down yet and it survived those westerlies we've been having so that's a good start. ;)
I have no buddies and no beer should I try to put one on anyway?
You don't really need buddies, but beer is essential. ;)
hey man good day ryan from trinidad and tobago here can you do a video on how to change plug wires on a yamaha 85 two stroke outboad coil pack wires
Hi Ryan, I'll add it to the list.
thanks buddy
Screwing in a lightbulb joke comes to mind.
Not a fan of screws either. I can see those stainless steel screws working themselves out of the alloy hull. My rule of thumb is always bolts and nuts so long as you can reach both sides of the bolt.
I also find screws hard to get undone once they are corroded a bit, presuming they haven't already fallen out!
