Rare live-video from Chet's 1982 performance at Austin City Limits. I hope you enjoy it. Chet was the best! Sorry for the quality, my source wasn't better!
Stars and Stripes forever will be popular in all kinds of weather. LET Old Glory blow beautifully in the breeze and may we thank God by praying on our knees. Yes Chet you play it like no other. The guitar star who is like a brother.
I remember this show. Paul Yandell is laughing in the beginning in response to Chet having said "Sometimes I get through it. If not, you'll see me embarrass myself. Thanks for posting.
This is exactly the way Guy Van Duser, from whom Chet learned the arrangement, did it (ie, "you may think that this is the end...well, it is.."). ruclips.net/video/u3eBmcwl9h8/видео.html

Chet Atkins is the greatest guitar player of all time. There are many great ones, but he is the very best 🇺🇸
Anybody that gave thi
s a thumbs down doesn't play guitar!
Chet makes me proud to be American
S. swewx
The definition of a true American.
I remember watching this back then and thought it was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen on guitar. Still is!
That part in the middle he's actually playing both melodies at the same time.
I saw this live on Johnny Carson one late night. Blew me away. Unimaginable.
He makes it look so easy you was the best Chet
Love ya Chet... This so made my day to hear you play this all those years ago...!

can you find the tabs for this?
He's a little off here, you can tell. Maybe been 3 days since he practiced. Still sounds great, just not astonishing.
Chet would probably be arrested for playing this song in public these days.
No one gets arrested for playing excellent guitar.
Notice he cut off the ending? Probably because he didn't like the audience clapping in time.
no he did that every time he played, of course he doesn't mind them clapping along

GordonMorice is right.
There are better, cleaner versions on YT. Better guitars too with a less tinny tone.
Nice playing President Bush
No interest in politics on my part - but musically, check out Doug Smith's version...
Hendrix, Page, Zappa are weak compared!
I agree that none of them had the same senes of touch or technical ability as Chet Atkins had.
He sounds sloppy compared to Guy Van Dueser. Lol. Chet is still the man.
He was getting older at this point, past his prime. There's another performance from a few years earlier on RUclips which is great.
Guy plays it harder and louder. Chet plays softer. I like Chet's style.
Not his best rendition.
