Aww thank you! How exciting!! Ooo that’s a tough one! It definitely took me a minute to embrace my natural edges! For a more “tamed/sleekesque look, I would suggest using water + leave in conditioner and oil! I’ve also heard of people using natural aloe gel as an alternative to edge control!

I am new to locs and have been going strong for 2 months now. I have a loctician who does my wash and retwist every month and she put them into a style. I started with two strand twist and growing out my undercut. So I have little coils on the side. I have the curly ends which she tucks in and I leave it this way until a week before my next retwist and fully wet them and flat twist them back down to keep them from being all over the place. I work in a pharmaceutical warehouse so I don't want that dust in my hair. Any advise on how to clean my scalp between washes. Also, when you first started your journey, did you have very dry scalp? I am starting to notice this now and I didnt have these issues as a loose natural.
How exciting! I love your routine! Ahh gotcha...I would suggest using diluted castile soap. 3 parts water: 1 part castile! It was the only soap that made my scalp feel cleansed when I was first starting out! What I'm having trouble with is I just got locks but already (since day 6) I could tell that my scalp was dirty. It's itchy like crazy, and although I'm not using products on it, there's a ton of build up on my scalp. Also, my hair is beyond brittle without products in it. Now what confuses me is that I was told to not put anything on my scalp or hair, so as to not unravel the locks and to not have build up. I was also told to not wash my hair for at least 2 weeks. So, how can I treat my locked hair like I would my loose natural hair if I'm advised to not wash (as often as I usually do) and moisturize my hair (for at least 6 months)? Help!
whaaaaaa???? I'm so sorry that someone told you that information but, I would absolutely advise that you wash your hair and moisturize it as you see fit. This process is about allowing your hair space and room to naturally coil and curl as it would without detangling. Most people suggest not washing and/or conditioning because it softens our hair and thus "slows" the locking process. However, in order to have healthy hair, you must have a clean scalp so it's vital that you take care of your hair regardless of locking it or keeping it loose.

Try moisturizing your scalp with peppermint, or spearmint oil. Works best for itchiness, and leaves a nice sensation on your scalp.

It took me a while to say f everybody's opinion and just love my locs I missed months 1-10 behind a wig it's month 11 and I say f it it's me it's beautiful and people just gonna have to deal with it .
