- Adrian Newey is set to join Ferrari after departing Red Bull Racing, according to internal sources at Aston Martin. His relationship with team principal Christian Horner has reportedly deteriorated, and his gardening leave period may be negotiated. Nico Hulkenberg is joining Kick Sauber in 2025, to become Audi from 2026 and beyond.

Yeah Hulk is a great bloke as well as an excellent driver! For those that still slag off Ricciardo I would remind people that as good as Hulk is Dan beat him consistently. The only anomaly is the car Saniza asked Ric "How's it going in that strange car?" that Lando had 3 years to get use to.

We all want this to be a fairy tale ending for Adrian's and Lewis' careers, bringing back the former glory days of Ferrari. ... Just hoping that this happens .. keep the videos coming Rab
So you realize he is under contract until 2025. Redbull also uses a clause saying that for 12 months, he can't work in f1 so that any secrets can not be shared. So maybe in 2027, he works for another team. He will he 70 by that point. Stop acting like this will be a quick fix for ferrari and Lewis. It will take years for a car designed by newey to hit the track.

Interestingly Newey isn’t the end all be all if we look at history.
Mercedes domination had James Alison not Adrian Newey.
The Ferrari domination had Ross Brawn (and James Alison) not Adrian Newey.
And if we look back before RBR and Newey partnership, Newey was at McLaren Mercedes. His greatest contribution back then was the suspension in 1998 and 1999 season. It was unmatched!
Recently with the so-called ground effect era, his greatest contribution wasn’t the floor! He admitted himself it was the suspension.
So any team with Newey on board is no guarantee for success. There are more factors that contributes to a teams success.

Came here to say the same. But much as I dislike Horner, I wouldn't pin the blame on him. All the teams are doing this with their top staff due to the cost cap.

I find it funny that a young guy in 20s (RUclipsr) knows what a super techincal guy in 60s wants! To be clear, nothing wrong with speculations, guessing, etc. but they should be stated as such.
I see him either going ferrari or Aston. If he goes Aston, Lance gets dropped for Max. If he goes ferrari, the whole grid is screwed as 2026 is a new engine, and merc and ferrari are way ahead of any other tea, from past reg engine changes. That paired with Charles, Lewis, with an Adrian built car, is scary, bro! 😂😂
Unlikely he would be working on their '26 car unless Ferrari give Red Bull a lot of money. You've no idea who is "ahead" with the '26 engines. It could be Honda for all you know.

Again, you want to believe that RBPT doesn't know what they're doing, even though they recruited from other teams, and you don't even know where Honda stacks up, but just presume that Mercedes and Ferrari are ahead. These same "sources" were also saying Mercedes were going to ace the '22 regs, and then that they were going to make a massive step forwards in '23, and then again in '24. Don't you remember those "widely reported" stories?
You can be naive if you want. Even if one or several teams are behind, it doesn't mean they won't make a massive step forward. If you read up on Merc in 2013, they were failing all their targets for the 2014 PU.
Newey might just retire. And even if he stays in F1, there's no guarantee he works on any team's '26 car. More likely '27 will be the first car he has significant involvement in.

To be clear, these are great drivers. But unless we can get another team or two on the grid, it’s time for some of the older guys to retire.
Why Adrian Newey, at 65 years old, actually consider deserting the RB team that has given him the unique opportunity to develop & maximize his revolutionary car designs, defies logic.
As we all know, F1 success is only achieved as a team effort. After 18 plus years of creative freedom (within F1 rules), why would Adrian want to leave the RB team where he was allowed to 'hand pick' a design team that understands and helps him achieve ground breaking result?

Adrian Newey's decision was probably cemented as soon as Christian Horner started to in public play down Newey's contribution towards Red Bull success.
If the team principal is not singing his praises then there were always at least five teams that would, one of which would pay him astronomical sums. Newey doesn't need the money and so will hopefully go to where the heart is stronger.
Not to mention Christian had the nerve to say 1)he could win with a whole new cast of team members and 2)if anybody on the team wanted to leave, they could go ahead because of reason one !

@@jameshendricksjr Few people are truly indispensable but some people are extremely hard to replace. For many years Horner seemed petrified of losing Verstappen, he probably still is, but he seems to rate higher his own importance.
Cracks within the team were starting to show towards the back end of last season, terse radio messages between an all conquering team seemed strange.
From the outside, I would place in order of importance Newley, Verstappen, Horner and probably Horner the easiest to replace.

@@martincday007 He has been the Team Principal since Day One, and no one can dispute how Horner has led the way in Red Bull becoming so dominant TWICE, first with Vettel and now with Verstappen. Now it seems like he feels as if he can do it again with a new driver lineup and calling all the shots without anyone from Austria looking over his shoulder. That and the whole female employee scandal surely made Newley unhappy with the drama .
The sprint races prevent teams from testing upgrades. The fans want to hear about upgrades and if the upgrades are working, so for the FIA to not care if teams have time to make sure that the upgrades that they're bringing actually work, is very strange.

Williams should give him 10% ownership accumulated over 5 years. Turbo charge to top of the midfield with a well designed basic car within their manufacturing capability. Better value than spending $135m a year to prop up the competition. Newey would be involved in all the decisions as well as giving the tech director some design pointers.
With how much of a gap everyone is saying Mercedes has in the 2026 engine regs, a Mercedes-powered, Newey designed Williams could honestly be a title contender in 2026/7

If Newey’s issue with Horner is about ethics concerning his assistant, then it’s a bit of the pot calling the kettle black.
Newey has complete knowledge of the missing footage of Senna’s onboard camera in his fatal crash and he along with Frank and Patrick have remained tight lipped about what really happened and how ONLY that segment of tape disappeared mysteriously from the black box!
Who cares I f Horner was smashing his assistant, unless Newey himself was having an extra curricular relationship with her which I could understand introduces a bit of jealousy into the mix, then maybe I can understand. Outside of that it was 2 adults doing what adults do.
Newey is a genius, but can't move on from using a pencil and paper compared to CFD/CAD. So in modern system he is more limited. Unbeatable as a system architect, and knowing how to set up the car as a whole. But this is why RB can survive in the short term
If this happens, we'll see if Newey is the godlike brains or if he has been lucky lately.

I think it's very disrespectful how primarily the (British) media is putting so much emphasis on Newey, in contrast to how Verstappen has been performing (and steadily becoming a more and more legendary driver). As if Newey is the main reason Verstappen is winning. Nobody was saying this about Mercedes when they were miles ahead of everyone (including Newey's RB). Verstappen does not need to prove anything in future season, but I guess time will tell what influence Newey has.
Hulk has to put up with a year of pain. Until a new direction from works Audi, then it's unknown.
Honestly I can see some parallels between Lewis and Newey in the way both teams are treating them as a deciding factor for them leaving for Lewis it was not getting that long term contract and ambassadorial position and for Newey being pushed out and moved to the hypercar project.

New Team , New Regulations, car and Power Train with Audi signing 2 awfully good drivers with Sainz and Hulkenberg ( and trust wha I tell you about Nick he is far better than what he has shown in the Hass and for what it’s worth Nick has done a phenomenal job in that seat… The only thing I see Newey not wanting to go to Audi is because of his age and his not wanting to regret working with Lewis Hamilton or Fernando Alonso the best drivers in the sport.. Who apart from Newey had ever designed a GE car before in RB or the paddock as a whole ? When he leaves, RB will still be using his ideas going forward, so stop playing down his role in RB current successes. Without him RB will be no better than the current Mercedes. Look at the other teams performing well , they all have one thing in common. They all copied bits from Newey's designs. Very soon Horner will soon have Toto for company regarding their bad car designs.

I think Newey wants a future in Ferrari but not only designer of Formula 1 cars, much more then that he wants to design Ferrari's new generation commercial cars too. So I belive one day Newey will join Ferrari its inevitable. Question is when?
Sprint races are just stupid. Avid fan, I’ve actually reduced the time I’m watching over a sprint weekend… removes the intrigue and event from the main race. Why watch a 20 lap race, and then re watch a 60 lap version.
