I think Mick to Sauber, Nico to Mercedes, and Carlos to Aston. That would be ideal, but doesn't seem that likely. I want to see schumi back on the grid :(. What are your thoughts?
Hulkenberg should be considered as a replacement for Stroll, sadly it won’t happen.
Which is even more galling considering he was their Super Sub!
@@LawVS And faster than Stroll in Qualifying at that
@@LawVSonly because papa stroll didn't have a choice
I hope Aramco steps in and forces Astons hand into demoting Lance to WEC.
@@LawVS My mind still wants Carlos and Alonso
still remembering when Hulkenberg was the second choice for that Mercedes seat in 2013 if they didn't sign Hamilton. Crazy to think about it
It wasn't faint praise either. Lauda kept on lauding Hulk for years.
@@LawVS he was awfully close to getting that seat after Rosberg’s retirement as well. :( but he had already signed for crappy renault , it was a call too late
Checo got offered the Renault seat first but turned it down. His team mate (Hulk) then got the offer and ended up Cptn reserve
And ferrari in 2014
And 2017 but he already signed with Renault and he nearly went to Ferrari in 2014 he's literally more unlucky than sigmalonso HOW
Hülkenberg is popular because look how damn handsome that man is
he looks exactly what I imagine a German who figured out that wooden doors can't seal properly ;)
The first season of DTS where he does the meet and greet at the Microsoft Store and he has to tell a kid that he hasn’t won a race yet is one of the most memorable moments that year that really humanized the drivers.
German here. You saying Kreuzschlitzschraubenzieher was the most impressive display of pronunciation of a difficult foreign word by an English person I have heard in a very long time😂
What's the short form for it? I mean you cannot regularly say that word in case of emergency or work....
@@sufiyan.9535 You can normaly just say Kreuzschlitz if its clear what you mean by context. Also the translation is wrong. Screwdriver is just Schraubendreher in german. Kreuzschlitzschraubendreher means philipshead screwdriver.
@@sufiyan.9535 Either Kreurzschlitz or Schraubenzieher. Screwdriver is actually just Schraubenzieher or Schraubendreher (literally screw puller or screw turner). The whole thing (Kreuzschlitzschraubenzieher) only refers to philips head screwdrivers in particular.
Nico is like Carlos to me. Nobody took him super seriously until he was given a chance in a good team. Now everyone does. I think he just needs a break from a good team and he would prove how good he is
Without watching the vid, it's his ability to absolutely slap a lot of very good drivers around, paticularly over a single lap, and in is then able to hang on to outqualifying the car with good defensive driving, making his value added huge to a midfield team in paticular. Don't forget how he stood up to the currently waxed about Carlos at Renault.
He's a level headed character who is easy to work with from an engineer's perspective
people forget that the closest average qualifying gap in 2019 was between danny and nico !
This is what I don't get. The only driver to ever beat Nico in a season was Danny. Other than that, Nico has been an excellent driver. He's come into teams on a moments notice, with no prep, and finished decently every time. He's absolutely thrashing Kmag.... Why anyone things Hulk doesn't deserve a mid-field seat is absolutely idiotic.
@@m73m95 Barichello did too but the nico was a rookie and that legendary pole position solidified his name for the future
@m73m95 Well, he was beaten by Perez in points in 2015 and 2016, but he smashed Perez in 2014 by far margin except the podium thing.
@@f1david995 nico also had plenty of reliability failures too during 2015-16 but perez did beat him regardless
Hülkenberg never disappears
Honestly I want to see Hülkenberg on the podium or win. It feels weird he doesn't have one single podium, even in Force India or Renault
Hear me out... Merc is a midfielder now. Hulk is perfect for them
YES
❤
Hulkenberg is the most underrated driver on the grid.
Hulkenberg is the most overrated driver on the grid.
the most underrated driver is logan. im not joking when i write this.. hulk is perfectly rated imp
imo
At the moment, the most underrated driver....by FAR...is Sainz. However, yeah Hulk is a beast and deserves a seat in a better car, for sure.
@@dutcharest9731 respectfully, your opinion is trash.
I think the Hulk is always in peoples mind when it comes to silly seasons in the transfer market is because he is consistently exciting, he always out performs the car, not afraid to overtake where you just dont overtake and when drivers are trying to overtake him they better be prepared for a great deal of frustration.
Ironically, his adaptability and ability were shown by him being one of the drivers in the winning Le Mans car that one time he took part. In a way it is more of an indicator of his skills than his time in F2. He's also renowned to be a hard worker and engineers seem to love him. I'd _love_ to see him in a race-winning car to see if he can really do it.
I would pick Yuki to go beside Fernando. However, we all know who that second seat is for, the greatest tennis player on the grid. 😅
Nico is just a great guy and a better driver then a lot of people think
Law Racing with Sainz and Hulkenberg. FIA approves!
3:12 TBH, we're talking about Esteban Gutiérrez, a driver who scored 0 points for Haas in 2016, when Grosjean scored 29 points
I know it won’t happen but the fact Sainz is written off for the RB seat means a lot for Nico, realistically I think if Perez somehow falls off the 2nd half of the season again , Nico is the next safest option. He’ll be more than willing to be okay racing second fiddle no questions asked in a top car, Max and him have a good relationship , and by the team his contract would finish he would probably retire and leave space for god knows who next!!
They can even speak Dutch with eachother. Nico being remarkably fluid at it.
nico also was close in 2020...he is just so unlucky...always the 2nd option sadly
@@mrbungle3310 i remember that! i’m
happy for perez tho, but i think his time at RB is coming to a close, i doubt he’ll keep up his current form during the second half of this season.. again
Great show, as usual. Keep it up Law! my No.1 F1 channel. So reliable with the uploads my man.
I have only recently been getting into f1 (your channel is a big part of that) question I want answered now has nothing to do with f1. It is how long is that ladder?
It's a 3-stage ladder and about 9ft at its fullest length?
If you think being a dad makes you have NICER thoughts and outbursts, you’re in for a BIG surprise!! 🤣🤣 Mate, it only gets WORSE from here!! 😎😎 Glad you still have your sense of humor intact. That tells me that you’ll make a perfect dad. I appreciate you and what you do, brother. Cheers! 👊🏻🫡
Totally agree Hulk and Carlos would be a POWERFUL consistent team! Hulk deserves a GOOD seat
the german caught me off guard, (and to be that person, Kreuzschlitzschraubenzieher is a specific kind of screwdriver, just Schraubenzieher would be the translation. Also fun fact the direct translation would be screw puller instead of driver) I really enjoyed the video as always
Hulk has won every championship he has been in, apart from F1. The best driver never to get a top car. The only other driver that has won every championship is Lewis Hamilton. Yep, he is that good. Now seen as a safe bet.
Don't forget Le Mans!
it’s just genuinely a shame how much of a difference winning in 2012 brazil would have changed his career trajectory
@@wizzfizz6800 how one mistake in your driving career could have such lingering effects
Everyone is a Nico HUUUUUUUUULKENbeeerggg fan, even if they say they are not, they are a fan of Nico HUUUUUUUUULKENbeeerggg
Nico is fast with the Haas, he might be a goid choice to Mercedes if Toto isn't able to get Sainz or other top 5 drivers.
and Niki Lauda will have gotten his second choice in the car.
Don’t take Suck My Balls away from me 😂
It's been driving me crazy for months now trying to figure out who originally came up with the standing on a ladder in the attic setting. Someone else did this years ago and I can't remember who. Goin mad trying to figure it out. Someone pls help me.
I can imagine Nico getting a podium and the FIA retrospectively removing it for using his brain to defend 😢
Loved that accidental laughing fit 😂😂
Great video keep it up you're doing amazing things 😁😀
Just throwing a point to the discussion. Are we sure if sainz goes to mercedes he would be the one making space for kimi, not russel?
Law can you pls explain the matia binotto and Charles leclerc situation.
Great vedios and content creator at its best for F1.
I know this is not related to this vedio.
But I am not able to find any information about it
Nico deserves a better car, Nico deserves to have a project go well for him.
He has the skill, he has the consistency. He just needs the luck.
Hulk is a solid driver with a TON of experience and a relatively cheap price tag.
He is like a Toyota Camry. Sure there are Lamborghini's out there but they're not very practical, and they are wildly expensive. The Camry is cheap and reliable. It works for everyone everywhere.
The Hulk has pulled some bangers out of the hat.
He is an amazing driver. Sadly, never on the podium
Quality content everyday, impressive Laws
I kinda hope Merc will sign either Carlos or Nico. Nico is very very very underrated.
He’s how Perez was before RBR, a solid point collector irrespective of what down the grid teams he drove for..
Shame he couldn’t get a seat better than Haas .. but looking at the grid there’s nowhere to go only Sauber / Audi 🤷♂️
I think one of the things that makes Nico interesting is how it makes sense that he is mentioned in discussions for damn enar every team.
There are valid arguments for him being on basically every team's level. From his younger days and all those "what ifs" you could make a solid argument that he would be a good number 2. His time in Renault specifically shows he was able to be the best non top team driver. Then some will come and say "uuuuuuhhhh duuurrrr he never got a podium Nico bad" (so not a valid argument but one that you see often). Lot of people say well he never got to the top and look at his age just get a young driver in. Some see him as only worthy of a lower team like Haas/Sauber etc for multiple reasons.
I would kind of not be shocked no matter which team signs him. Other than Ferrari and McLaren who have their drivers locked in.
Nico is a properly good driver and provides really good feedback on the car, which is great for development. His biggest misstep is not having a manager early in his career. You need a manager to get you into a top seat. Having someone keeping your name in the ears of top teams when you are not in the room is what gets you the seat in a top team at the right time. He's always been at a solid team but at the wrong time, usually missing out on a great car by a few seasons.
Just a thought here, what about Wehrlein for AUDI? I know it has been a long time, but he is still racing on a very high level. Plus, he is a Porsche driver, which is part of the VW line-up, just like Audi. AND he actually drove for Sauber before and was their best driver in 2017.
(Plus: German)
I think that's a valid consideration, but I bet that Audi would want to have F1 drivers who are experienced.
that is honestly a good choice, but i just think he’s been out of f1 for so long it’s unfortunate he isn’t considered more
@@LawVS We'll talk again if he get's the Formula E title this year 😁
He consistently qualifies well and he consistently gets points. Look at his Stenton run out where he was just always five through 10 and always qualify well and I think everyone wants to pop if he ever gets to see that gizmo.
No. What you said, or tried to say is a phillips-head-screwdriver. (Cross-head screwdriver)
'Schraubendreher' is the word for screwdriver. Just 4 syllables.
It actually refers to 'screws' (multiple) that's what creates the fourth syllable. Otherwise it would have been schraubdreher. Which is also 3 syllables. But since you use the driver to drive in more than one screw they (and the Dutch at least) refer to it as a 'screws-driver'.
😅
Nico is a golden retriever in a world of pit bulls.
Yet that didn’t stop Lauda’s , Wolff’s and the media praise has it
@@wizzfizz6800 yeah, and Nico is still grateful he got the Mercedes seat. Oh, wait…
Praise means nothing, but Nico must be pleased they think he’s “a good boy!”.
I miss the dutch interviews he had with Ziggo sport, we now have Viaplay so we dont have that anymore, bit of a shame really
Lawvs is a living F1 encyclopedia 👍 never boring content
At Merc he would have beaten Brittney atleast twice. Being a qualifying-genius and a masterclass defender.
Nico is TRULY a consistent, solid driver who can drive any car!!
If Nico stays at Haas, KMag will be dropped. This opens the spot for Bearman to hone his craft before Lewis retires and Bearman moves to partner Charles. But this only happens if Bearman can perform within F2.
Hulkenberg to Mercedes sounds more plausible than any of the off-stable names being bandied for that RB seat.
We all know Papa Stroll won't kick junior out of that seat. He's as much, or even more invested in the "dream" of his son as a WDC than Lance probably is at this stage. Boy just wants to play tennis. Or paddleball.
Nico is kind like the Barry Sanders of F1. Really good driver that never got into a top team.
Law consistently delivering my F1 fix when its needed most
Hulkenberg finishing his F1 career with Aston Martin could also build useful connections if he wants to go the endurance racing route after his time in F1 is done. I can't imagine he'd make a decision based off of that, but for a former Le Mans winner it would be a nice perk
My favorite man on a ladder!
that aged like milk in 30 degrees weather
Yep. Not ashamed to admit it. :)
Hulk and Nando in a Honda powered Aston would be something... Loads of experience and loads of capability of shoving a car up the ranks, over driving it. Something... Would put RBR and FER in check.
I so want him to be on Podium, he deserves it.
8:20 isn‘t that a flavour of dad humour though? Don‘t stress yourself, my father would 100% support that joke and he‘s been a dad for over 20 years now and rather recently again, I think you‘ll be fine ;)
To be fair, magnussen scored more times than hulkenburg last year and magnussen’s speed was hampered down by testing parts for the team. So far in this year, they are pretty even on pacing, it is magnussen playing the team game
Saddest word in the English language is almost. The story of Nico’s life
Kreuzschlitzschraubenzieher is only for the screwdrivers With a Cross at the top so Schraubenzieher is enough for screwdriver however i bet he can also say Sequenziellesdoppelkublungsgetriebe
My three years of German at high school level will serve me well.
The Kreuz… is a Phillips screw driver and the Sequenz… is a sequential clutch thingy. 4 years of German and 6 years of English combined.
@@abel6846 quite good your right with the screwdriver, and the other one is „sequential dual clutch transmission“. You want another challenge?
I really rate Hulk and always have. The way he stepped into that Racing Point and absolutely bossed it proved, yet again his quality. It's mad to think what might have been has Lewis decided to stay at Mclaren. I true sliding doors moment.
I really hope he gets a podium in future.
He's got more experience driving in F1 better than half the grid! Hello!
Ollie Bearman can’t be a shoe in for Haas, I hope so at least, Magnussen & hulkenberg have been doing a good job, Haas’ priority should be keeping both
Should be noted that, Hulk put in a great performance with Force India, but Checo also did. They both were driving phenomenally, which I think really came down to a lot of the reasons why they got 4th in the championship. (From the video, it just sounded like they sort of disregarded how much work Checo also put in for that team as well)
Hulk really would be wonderful at Mercedes
It would be so funny if Nico went to Mercedes, got a podium in round 4 and then made a Rosberg move and announcing his retirement right after he stepped of that podium.
Niko is a brilliant driver that is a victim of not being in a top car.... another reason to have spec cars so great drivers like him and other drivers to actually showcase their ability.....
I've never realized how often you say shout until my girlfriend pointed it out to me. Now I cant unhear it.
Nico is good at getting the max out of a midfield car. So a good fit for a Haas or Sauber. However, those higher up, like Aston, Mercedes etc, would do better to consider Sainz, Albon, Gasly, Ocon before Nico. I do think he would have been a better choice for Ferrari in 2014 than Kimi though.
Sainz and Hulk at Audi seems likely next year, though Zhou brings alot of money and ability if they choose to keep him.
Hope he does something to get in a top team car.
Because he drives better than the car is credited for. And is relaxed in response. There is a reason why he was asked to fill in every time a team needed a driver on the spot.. he is ready on the spot... Lets put him in a car that can get to a podium.. Merc?
I have trouble seeing Audi/VW putting both Nico & Carlos at Sauber. Can't help but think the sales repercussions of firing Zhou will be too risky for VAG.
The only driver I'd replace Checo with if he slides downhill is Nico. I seriously suspect anyone better doesn't really want to partner Max.
Haas should be quick in China, let's hope for chaos & a Nico podium
7:39 Brundle's F1 career in a nutshell.
Nico was a good driver always in midfield cars when the grid was dominated by one or 2 teams.
I think he would do great at Mercedes. Hes does well with car set up, he's consistent and coming from a car that been in the back for years , he'd take off like a rocket in a merc. That would Give kimi the time to deal with F2, mature and step up after Merc has proven the car
If there's any justice in the world Hulk will finally score a podium...this season.
Law. Your ladder-acrobatics are of the chain lately
I can see Hülk at mercedes , where would that leave Sainz though? I can't see him taking Perezs' seat at red bull , and that leaves him only back marker teams . Maybe he should be headed to Audi (or aston if they boot Stroll)
I'm a part of this, and I'm sorry lmao.
Pointed out how he's a potential stopgap for Mercades in the last like.. 4 videos you made on the subject.
The Incredible HULKenberg!!
Nico is doing great on my Fantasy team, so leave off him!
I'm praising him though...
"Hulkenberg was right!" -Fernando Alonso
Mercedes have Russell for a qualifier and we know how he got the name "Mr. Saturday". He's no slouch and keeps Hamilton pretty honest. If the Hook looks good against Russell, and I think he has the potential to do that, his reputation can only grow.

I think all options (Haas/Audi/Aston) are good for Nico. Mercedes not so much because I think Wolff doesn't want him and Nico doesn't work well in a team where he doesn't feel wanted. And then Wolff is the one who lobbied to have Ocon replace him at Renault. Why doesn't Wolff take Ocon back at this point? 🤔
210 entries and 0 podiums is crazy
