The auto choke should actually be adjusted to where the butterfly it is just closed when the engine is stone cold. This is not necessarily where the lines are and should be changed with the change of season. Either that or open it all the way and warm it up yourself.
run a line from the fuel pump to the carb...no filter here..put the fuel filter before the pump..preferably close to the tank..this eliminates any chance of those filters splitting and spraying gas onto the dist. and coil....great video.
Before adjust the carb. You must identified, which one is the volume control screw and air bypass screw. You were turned the 21/2 setup for bypass screw. it was wrong. 21/2 adjustment needed for the volume control screw. Bypass screw is maintaining the ideal and air bypass and for speed 800rpm to 900rpm
Where would you put it? There are really no other good options. Anywhere in the engine compartment has the potential for fire if it leaks. You just live with it, and do periodic visuals on fuel lines and connections. The ideal spot would be directly under gas tank on the fuel hose going to the steel fuel line connection, but it is hard to get to. Maybe I'll try that sometime.
You may have to adjust the choke too and the lines won't always match up. They may have at factory but some are old. Its where you set them that matters.
Do not put your fuel filter there, on a vw bug you want to eliminate all possible splices in the fuel line near the engine compartment or you're begging for a fire. I know there are not alot of places to put it, and safe locations are limited, but just trying to watch out for ya man.
most helpful video so far. got my carb adjusted in 5 min now the car runs smoother than ever. thank you
Why you got a inline fuel filter over your engine. Number one cause of 🔥 📛 👨🚒 🚒 🧯 🎆 fires. Just curious.

i've seen guys run extra fuel line away from the fuel pump, then back to the carb, either way good video, helped me out!

when you are rebuilding the carb do your preset adjustments on the bench its much easier

You sound like Walter White Jr. from breaking bad.
Thanks. That was almost not entirely useless.
jesus ,,, use a screwdriver much??
lol
You could put some grease so screws wont get that hard to adjust
Thanks for the info on the 1600 Bug. The engine runs too fast once it is heated up. Is this still a carb adjustment problem?
I know this is an old comment but you should always adjust your carb when your engine is fully warmed up. What is shown here is just a starting point.
How do we make the choke lines line up think mine are off????

what a waste of 2 minutes
This is terrible, before you pit it back on pre adjustments should have been done
Worst video ever on this.
