I’m at the upper end of the “healthy bmi” but I don’t feel healthy and how you described the feeling (feeling trapped in body that’s not mine) is exactly how I feel… the version of me in my head looks how I used to and I’d like to get back to her soon :) great vid💫

I slowly gained 20lb since 2019 to end of 2022. I started to learn swimming by myself July 2022. I went 6/7 days a week for an hour. I cook and eat two meals a day. The weight went away very slowly at first but I wasn’t in it to lose weight, I only wanted to master swimming. Thankfully it is quite enjoyable therefore it was never a chore to go to the pool and cook from scratch. I only gauge weight by wearing my old clothes. Now I can wear my old size 4 clothes. My body has also changed. It is leaner and muscular at the same time. When I was a hiker was a size 2 but I had no shapely arms and back. Swimming sculpted my body much better.

I don’t like the criticism of the doctor too much, if you were not extremely overweight there was no reason for the doctor to dwell on it…

I mean she wasn’t extremely overweight but she was heavier in a short amount of time for her body. I think as doctors they view patients as a whole and not individually which causes many issues

Alot of people fall into the trap of losing like, 10lbs in a month, and I think more people seeing someone like you losing weight slow and steady will lead to them having healthier attitudes towards diet :) As a long-time fan of the channel and fellow dancer, great video :>>>

Great advice! I also stuggle with emotional eating but i have discovered sometimes is better to eat even if you are not hungry if you have a eating plan or are trying to achieve a calorie deficit. For me if im not hungry at the time of a meal and i skip it it usually triggers a sort of a binge if i let myself get too hungry, and makes me not have the most balanced meal and makes me eat beyond fullness. So i usually still make sure to eat something balanced but a smaller portion.

Ladies! (and gents) Eat what you want, but listen to your body. Just eat as much that you could go for a jogging session. Drink water before every meal and eat it with total attention. On the other hand, just go for a walk for 20 minutes after your meal.
Edit: I spelled one word wrong...

Really helpful thank you! Especially about not standing up and eating straight from the fridge - as soon as you said this I realised I do this so much. I'd eat loads fast and impulsively, then (knowing it didn't feel right somehow) decide I need to eat an actual meal.. But by the time I actually sat down with a plate I wasn't all that hungry, but then I'd still eat it anyway as now it was all there on a plate.. 🤦🏻‍♀️I was very impatient, probably because I was using that to avoid feelings or to procrastinate etc... It's so much better to wait a few minutes and then enjoy the food without distractions. And of course then come to realise what I was using food to avoid looking at in myself.

I appreciate your video. I am naturally very thin to the point of people constantly making rude comments on it almost on a daily basis, even as a child. Fast forward after 2 kids and in my 40s I still look atleast 3 months pregnant and have a pot belly with scrawny arms and legs. I can hide my belly with clothes, but my doctor too recommended I workout as my belly fat is behind the muscle and working out is the only way to drop it (a tummy tuck wouldn't even flatten it). This made me realize how most people are overweight but we don't realize it. To a stranger on the street I am "skinny" but i am clearly not my healthiest. Belly fat is quite dangerous, if it is visceral, it surrounds your organs. Odds are, we could all be a little healthier ❤❤

Hi there! Love this video. Do you mind talking a little bit about how you have been able to maintain your results now that your cut is done? I think that’s the hardest part for me. Once I look the way I want to look, it’s easy to lose it. If you could talk about how you maintain the body you want, that would be great! Especially as you start to drink again and divulge in the food you’ve been restricting :)

    • @banjohole

Usually once you’re done losing the weight from a caloric deficit, you can maintain by eating at maintenance calories. You can’t just go off the rails and eat at surplus.

I’ve been overweight for years, and my doctor never picked up on it; I even mentioned my weight when a nurse weighed me, and she said I was “fine,” but I was about 15+ pounds heavier. I’m now 40 years old, 25 pounds overweight, and having to try losing weight at an age that is that bit harder. I wish my doctor had bothered to check on me (I also emotionally ate a lot).
