2014 sonata SE turbo fully loaded(the white body paint with the black roof, spoiler etc,etc)..the most beatiful sonata till today..fluid lines, nicest interior. .
Thanks for reviewing the Limited 2.0T, the best version of the Sonata. That's the only version that interests me, yet there are very few reviews of it. The Limited 2.0T is damn nice. It has some features you typically see on luxury sedans, like the heated steering wheel. It also has a very sport-oriented interior with the blue stitching, flat-bottom steering wheel, metallic pedals, paddle shifters, and sport seats with "turbo" imprints. Overall, this car is more attractive to me than the Camry XSE V6. Another strike against the Camry is its lack of Android/Apple support. At first I was lured into the Camry by its "all-new" designation and V6 engine. But then I realized the Sonata Turbo has nearly as much torque as that V6 Camry, and so far all the driving reviews have reported excellent handling on the Sonata. I am also a fan of the new front and rear exterior design. Overall, this looks like a solid package.
Good looking car. I like how the bodywork is incorporated into the front end. This is what Toyota badly needs to do, and to a lesser extent, Honda too.
I mean I don't hate it, but they should've kept the Sonatas previous design. It was so clean and straight looking. This design should've been its own car.
I have the 2015 Sonata with the 2.4 four. Very roomy, quiet and will get 35 mpg with 4 adults and luggage cruising effortlessly at 80 mph. It has enough power for everyday commuting. I drove the 2.0 T which is about as quick as my 3.5 V6 Rav4. The Rav4 gets about 28 on the highway. My Sonata Sport has the heated seats, backup camera and push button start...I can no longer live without these options.
I happen to like how it looks. I didn't like the 2014 model year Sonata. The exterior was alright but the interior was so bleh. I don't give a shit about only exterior like most people. The past generation before the one in this video was actually really nice in the 2.0T model with the quad exhaust. I saw that model at the NY auto show and I thought it frankly, gorgeous. I still think so. Great design
Good review, Nathan, but I think the flat-bottomed wheel is designed to look sporty, not accommodate us chunky folks. I've mostly seen them in sports cars and sports sedans, I guess the Sonata 2.0T might be considered that.
I owned a 2011 Sonata. Loved it right up to the day the engine exploded with 100,100 miles on it. Up to that point, there was the nagging problem with brake safety switch, that cost me 6 tows, and doing without the car on 6 occasions for what admittedly was a very cheap part. It handled well, was comfortable with the best bucket seats in the world but the way I was handled by Hyundai was despicable. And to find out after the fact that I was not alone. There were hundreds of complaints about the same thing. Well, I put a new motor in it. $8000 out the door. I am still making payments on an engine that I no longer own. I drove it for 3 months and the motor started making odd noises, and that was all she wrote. Dumped it with 3000 miles on the new motor. Nope, my Hyundai days are over.
That totally sucks man. I've had 4 Hyundai's and never had any issues at all. But I understand your dismissal of the brand. I'd do the same if it happened to me.
I hear ya. They did good with the Elantra Sport would love to see them do that for this too with a manual available though don't think they ever put a manual in the sonota
It's way better than the competition. The Camry is very over styled. The new Accord looks very nice but their grill looks strange. The only area where Toyota beats Hyundai and Honda is in it's Interior design but based on my previous experiences with Toyota, the interior bits will start popping out and breaking after 5 years,
I disagree and I had an 17 that I traded in for the 18 model. one of the many better parts of the 2018's are it's dashboard, which is an huge yet simple improvement over the 2017, while I know it is basically the same dash, the way the vents are changed to follow the lines of the dash give it a cleaner look, the materials used are better, the seats and ride are much improved over the 17 and the steering is worlds better in the 18 vs the 17 models, as for the exterior , both the 2017 and 2018 have their good points, I think the 2017 look nice and handsome like but I think the 18 exterior is more sporty, the 17 has a more conservative look to cater to Hyundai home market that didnt like the 2011-14 style the 2011-14 had. The minor changes help to make it look sporty again, I prefer a sporty look to a tone conservative look, both work but the 18 def leans more toward being sporty looking like the 2011-14 models did.
yeah, but Hyundai is selling the 2.0 touring for now $26K when camry xse v6 is selling for $36K also accord 2.0T is discounted to $33K so for the $$ Hyundai rocks with better warranty.. If I am going to spend $36K on camry, Ill buy the Kia Stinger GT for $39K
Good looking car, nice features and a low price. You guys did a preview of the 2017 Fusion V6 Sport but you should do a test drive review - I think you'll get a kick out of it.
if only Hyundai would let you borrow things like Santa Fe with what normal buyer will buy the 2.4 L and let you test them at altitude same goes with the Sportage it seems you guys always get the turbos
The 2014 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T limited was the best looking Sonata ever produced, hands down! .... Ever since the 2015 design, I've hated the look of the sonata...
Okay maybe I'm nitpicky or a bit weird but what is with every company changing their high beams and just making them a part of the projectors! I do some night time driving and I for the life of me hate that I can barely see out of the projectors. The halogen reflector high beams really do make a difference. I'm getting upset that Hyundai and Toyota went that route though. Although it looks goofy to have led projectors and halogen high beams. I'd take safety and reassurance than looks anyday!
Heres where Hyundai excels: Warranty, value, and price. With rebates and dealer discounts you can pick up any version of the Sonata for 6 to 8k off of sticker price. The Toyotas and Hondas just dont budge on on making a great deal. The quality of the Toyotas and Hondas is no better than the Hyundais. They are all built in the US.
I don't understand why almost all 2018 2.0t reviews mention that the d steering wheel is new. They've had it since 2015. In fact, it's exactly the same.
Eye of the beholder...some like the look, some don't. We can't all afford to have the sleekest, sexiest or most powerful rides like Camaros, Mustangs, Challengers, etc.
When is Hyundai/Infinity coming out with an update for the flawed radio in the 2018 Hyundai Sonata Limited 2.0T? The treble control doesn't work for the radio, not just in my car, but in ALL 2018 Sonata Limited 2.0Ts! The slider moves from -10 to +10, but there is no change in the high frequency sound, like there should be! The bass and midrange controls work fine, even though I would prefer the midrange center frequency to be higher, say 3kHz, it is too low in frequency now to do any good! I can't believe they haven't changed the midrange center frequency since the 2012... I had one of them, till it was rear ended by an 18 year-old girl, and they still kept the same center frequency for the midrange! The midrange frequency should alter basically the voice frequencies! However, my main issue is with the treble control not working at all! Infinity where is your quality control? Do you try out your products before you release them? Come on, get me an update so my radio will sound like it should! I'll bet there is no issue with treble control for the radio in the 2018 HONDA ACCORD! Show less REPLY J Trager Add a public reply... I think they dropped the ball with this one.. I picked up a 2015 sport model when they first came out and they were rare in NY, I would really count seeing 2-3 day. Now they are just as common as Camrys & Accords, so I know Hyundai made a fortune with that design overhaul... For ppl coming in choosing between a Accord sonata or crysler 200.. sonata will no longer win that battle with this design. The old design had style for sure.
Sure... You conveniently ignore the fact that Toyota hasn't bothered to offere android and apple car plays! I just dumped a camry and bought the 2018 Hyundai Sport + for a LOT less money than the camry , with a LOT more features (Android and Apple come STANDARD in ALL Hyundai Sonata trims)...
I don't get it. The 2015 Hyundai Sonata was smooth and sleek looking, almost like a smaller Genesis. This thing looks like a step backwards, like they're trying too hard to compete with the Camry XSE trim. I even like the look of the new XSE, but it just looks like they're trying way too hard.
Top of the line - 2 dressed up like a 9 in cockney rhyming slang. Every time I'm told that Hyundai is now much improved, I find the claims way overstated the next time I drive one. Just once I'd like to be pleasantly surprised. The last one was a new Elantra I was saddled with for a week which was tepid, had the worst ergonomics and button layout (you'd need a flashlight to find commonly used items in the dark for instance), and had the usually steering wheel apparently attached by rubber bands to the car. Handling? Non-existent. Don't even get me started on any model with a stick.
What happened to the 2.0LT Turbo with 276Hp and the 2.4LT Non Turbo 200Hp ?? It would do better against the Camry with those engines . 184Hp & 245Hp Not good enough . Just average .
Just returned from a trip, Long Island, NY to Hilton Head Island and Daytona Beach, Florida. Averaged 37.7 MPG on the trip. Best mileage was 39.42 MPG on one tankful which included a horrendous 40 minute traffic jam on I-95 in South Carolina. I paid $21K for my 2016 ECO in April of 2016. Best part? This ECO is a freak with performance. Hyundai seriously under rated the 178! Horsepower of this car. It will light up the factory Michelins off the line and the 7 speed dual clutch auto trans really shifts quickly. Question for Hyundai...the 2018 Hyundai Elantra Sport 1.6 liter is rated at 205 horsepower and the same torque( 192 pounds) as the 2015 and 2016 Sonata ECO models. The Elantra is 200 pounds lighter than the Sonata, yet in every road test of the 2015 and the 2016 Sonata ECO's. the ECO's times are faster 0 to 60 and in the quarter mile than the Elantra Sport's numbers in its road tests. A lighter 200 pound lighter car with an extra 25 horsepower is slower than the bigger car with lesser horsepower???? How's that work? Grab a 2016 ECO! Hyundai seriously under rated its horsepower. By the way, the ECO blows away the Hyundai 2.0 245 horsepower turbo in all acceleration tests as well. I feel bad for the guy who laid out $6000 more for the 2.0 Turbo!!! And, the ECO will get over 40 MPG highway if you stay under 65 MPH...guaranteed!
I like the 2015 -2017 front end better, it had more of a luxury car look to it. These family sedans with a sports car theme to them seem a little odd considering the performance.
Not liking that new front end at all. Reminds me of the older Sonata Hybrid, which was butt ugly. New taillights looks like they were taken off an Elantra.
Audi...not really. Sad Ford Fusion copy in front; yes. A great value option; also yes ...and to quote another automotive journalist "ugly comes at no extra cost". The Camry and Accord will drive circles around this and personally I'll take the latter. Too bad though, because this is a genuinely decent car.
Recalls come at no extra cost too! I thought I was getting a good value with my 2012 Sonata compared to the prices of the Camry and Accord at the time, but you get what you pay for. My Sonata had 4 recalls in 4 years, and another one came in the mail after I sold it! I just bought my third Honda a few weeks ago.
Gushing over styling doesn't mean a thing if it won't make 100k. Also why don't y'all test the the base 2.4? The wanky steering and not smooth power plant is most prominent in that version.
Gerald Thompson ... I have a '17 Sonata SE with 2.4 engine. Runs and drives very smooth all the time. I avg 34 mpg mixed driving Went on a weekend trip hit speeds of 100 mph and my passengers didn't even notice. The car has 6700 miles on it.
Looks like some people are still stuck in the 80s. Hyundai quality is just as good as and Japanese automaker nowadays. Seen many positive reviews on people who have owned them reach over 200k, almost to 300k miles with nothing but regular maintenance. If you take care of them, they will be reliable.
2014 sonata SE turbo fully loaded(the white body paint with the black roof, spoiler etc,etc)..the most beatiful sonata till today..fluid lines, nicest interior. .
tatoo99999 yes now they are very bulky, generic, and boring
I am a salesman for Hyundai and I do like the 2015-2017s as well. The 14 was much more powerful though at 275 hp!
I agree, was the best looking generation.
Absolutely hands down!!!!
tatoo99999 totally agree had a '13 SE. That design ('11 thru '14) is still my fav
The 2015-2017 sonata is one of the few cars that look good looking straight on.
I actually bought this car.. I'm in love with it..
I don't think it's necessarily an ugly car, but I think the current model looks a lot more upscale.
Halo 86 I agree with you
Looks pretty good I just like the huge sonata on back
Thanks for reviewing the Limited 2.0T, the best version of the Sonata. That's the only version that interests me, yet there are very few reviews of it.

Arcadian, excellent and clear description of the Sonata T Limited, I am about to get one of them for my wife.
The Sonata ECO is faster and gets gas mileage slightly worse than the Hyundai hybrid, for $13,000 less!!
Good looking car. I like how the bodywork is incorporated into the front end. This is what Toyota badly needs to do, and to a lesser extent, Honda too.
I mean I don't hate it, but they should've kept the Sonatas previous design. It was so clean and straight looking. This design should've been its own car.
Teighlour Swyftte The funny thing is the 2017 Accord and Sonata look similar, as do the new 2018 Accord and Sonata. As far as the front grilles go.
I think the 2011 Sonata still holds its own.
vh9network I noticed the design flip flops back and forth with similar design elements.
I agree!
Teighlour Swyftte I think this one looks nicer.
This channels cinematography has had a drastic improvement. Very nicely shot and edited.
I would take this Sonata over that 2018 Camry all day! Great and luxury looking Sonata yet.
Camry has always been snooze enducing.
Sonata makes you want to get in and drive.
Right on Doug.
I have the 2015 Sonata with the 2.4 four. Very roomy, quiet and will get 35 mpg with 4 adults and luggage cruising effortlessly at 80 mph. It has enough power for everyday commuting. Eh... Go buy a GTR, Bet you will love the interior of that monster.
love the new look
Looks like big Elantra
Alex Shnaider how bout... Elantra looks like a small Sonata ??😒😒
vishal s yeah but Elantra with that design came out first
Your point is?
I really like my big Elantra. Exactly like the one in this video.
It looks sweet!! The red looks beautiful and that a big list of goodies!!! How are these in the reliability department?
Good review, Nathan, but I think the flat-bottomed wheel is designed to look sporty, not accommodate us chunky folks. I've mostly seen them in sports cars and sports sedans, I guess the Sonata 2.0T might be considered that.
I don't think it looks that bad.
I think this is a definite step back for the Sonata! I have a 2015 Sport 2.0T and love it. I would have not bought this one!
I owned a 2011 Sonata. Loved it right up to the day the engine exploded with 100,100 miles on it. There is a recall on the engine. The replacement should have been free.
Its one of the best looking sedans out there right now 😀
Johan Lagerkvist 😂😂😂😂😂 hell no
Johan Lagerkvist you must have downs.
You must be high!
Johan, I agree 101%
The fish-like front with mesh? Is your brain alright?
When it comes to looks I much prefer the sister Kia Optima its a nice clean design.
Regardless of which generation 2.0T Sonata you get you aren't getting a bad car.
Hyundai needs to do an "n" model in this car
Nicholas Suryathyo with a 6MT
I hear ya. They did good with the Elantra Sport would love to see them do that for this too with a manual available though don't think they ever put a manual in the sonota
When Hyundai releases the Elantra N to the United States they might think of doing so.
I like the current design of the front but I like this ones rear.
Looks like a Ford Fusion which is a good place to start as that is one of the most attractive entry's in this segment.

0:49 This is the air inlet right?
Did you guys get a hold of the new Elantra GT Sport as well?
+roblesjant Yes. That video is coming soon.
+roblesjant yes, please stayed tuned for a review on TFLnow
it just looks like a elantra with body kit. the 2014 model was the best looking.
yeah, but Hyundai is selling the 2.0 touring for now $26K when camry xse v6 is selling for $36K also accord 2.0T is discounted to $33K so for the $$ Hyundai rocks with better warranty.. If I am going to spend $36K on camry, Ill buy the Kia Stinger GT for $39K
Good looking car, nice features and a low price.
You guys did a preview of the 2017 Fusion V6 Sport but you should do a test drive review - I think you'll get a kick out of it.
geez what did you shoot this with. It looks great !
Nice review!
if only Hyundai would let you borrow things like Santa Fe with what normal buyer will buy the 2.4 L and let you test them at altitude same goes with the Sportage it seems you guys always get the turbos

I'd take safety and reassurance than looks anyday!
palmviewlobos15 my Toyota has Led high beams better than my mom's 16 sonata with halogen high beams. Not as bright.
In fact, it's exactly the same.
what is the 0 -60 time with the new 8 speed
damn, I just bought the 17 model, but basic sport 2.4. I like it, but I wish I had bought a crossover, plus fuel economy sucks. I get 18 to 21 mpg.
Did everyone forget about Mazda because Mazda makes their cars look sporty and luxurious
need to review the computer and interior more
Personally, I think it would look much better without the "SONATA" written across the trunk.
16.3 cubic inch trunk?
@tfl car please Mention leg room please.
Also has standard blind spot monitoring in all trims.
I'd take it in black, however the new XSE is still better in terms of design. Not a Hyundai hater, my daily is Hyundai actually lol.
2012-14 best sonata body style
Is there ever a car you guys don't like? I've driven Hyundai Sonatas before and it reminds me of driving a boat. haha
it's not so ugly when you see it in real world. It just looks worse than it is over a screen, because its design is rounded.
While I love that it has the 8-speed now, I'm happy with my 2016 design haha
You should compete 2018 Hyundai Sonata with 2018 Honda Accord and 2018 Toyota Camry
It is a little ugly but still looks better than that 2018 Honda Accord.
I think they dropped the ball with this one.. I picked up a 2015 sport model when they first came out and they were rare in NY, I would really count seeing 2-3 day. Anthony Kelly ...
I have a '17 Sonata and like it very much.
But I think this new design looks pretty good too.
Power-braking this car makes it cut boost in first and slows it down.
I heard 18 speed automatic transmission, I was like wtf, had to rewind
Carlos Vega Thanks for letting us know
Dat 60fps goodness *insert satisfaction.meme image*
I don't get it. The 2015 Hyundai Sonata was smooth and sleek looking, almost like a smaller Genesis. This thing looks like a step backwards, like they're trying too hard to compete with the Camry XSE trim. I even like the look of the new XSE, but it just looks like they're trying way too hard.
This car should be putting out 275 horsepower like the I30

why doesn't the limited have a panoramic sunroof like the previous generations :(
Devante Morris ...
The pano roof had some major issues. Hyundai may bring it back when perfected.
no pano roof offered =im not turning in my 2015 for this will got for the camry or optima
Price best!!
TRUCKS ONLY .😎
@TheFastLaneCar We need a v6 with 390 hp into this thing
Aleixei Demirov I can assure you that is never happening. Get a Genesis if that's what you're after.
Want that grille....😎😎
What happened to the 2.0LT Turbo with 276Hp and the 2.4LT Non Turbo 200Hp ?? It would do better against the Camry with those engines . 184Hp & 245Hp Not good enough . Just average .
my car ~ Sonata ! ^^
new Camry looks much better than new Sonata
The Camry looks hideous. The Sonata look just about okay. Its the new Honda Accord that looks like a luxury car.
Why is everyone going to a 2.0 turbo. I much rather have a V6. My 2010 Camry v6 gets 28mpg combined. Why would I buy that and get only 26.
look kinda like a Chevy SS from the rear
I still like my 2017 Sonata Hybrid better. I don't think this new look will age well. Ford Fusion in the front, Kia Optima in the back.
Moar Desu that's because this looks similar
I feel like a Hyundai is a good leases I would never keep one
Hyundai really needs to work on improving their sound of their 4cyl. Doesn't sound pleasant at all.
When my 2015 Sonata 2.0T ultimate goes out. I'm done with Hyundai.
You guys should work on your titles. Don’t try to make them flashy but easily searched.

And, the ECO will get over 40 MPG highway if you stay under 65 MPH...guaranteed!
Seems like a Ford Fusion front tho
Just get a Civic and call it a day, you end up saving a few grand too.
I like the 2015 -2017 front end better, it had more of a luxury car look to it. These family sedans with a sports car theme to them seem a little odd considering the performance.
I've rented quite a few Hyundai's. There is something cheap feeling about them, reminds me of a cheap cardboard
Not liking that new front end at all. Reminds me of the older Sonata Hybrid, which was butt ugly. New taillights looks like they were taken off an Elantra.
Car is wonderful in the sense of the word, but unfortunately, the company Hyundai has become contradictory, all cars resemble some of the last!
The new Mazda 6 looks better and has nicer interior. Mazda has always been more of a drivers car. Camry is an appliance, Yuck
i love it
the 2016 was good looking, this one is hiddeous looking 🤔
The new Camry now looks better than the Sonata and the new Accord.
Marlon Johnson My only gripe is still the hideous looking c pillar. IMO it works well on a Scion TC but on a Camry, not so much.
Even better than Taco Tuesday!
the new Camry has the ugliest dashboard ever put in a car.
That rear ughhhhh....
Designer worked at Audi as such
Audi...not really.
Yup, an individual opinion, finally. Car brand loyalty is the worst kind of brand loyalty, worshipping a brand while ignorantly avoiding all facts.
They finally fix the front grill in ruin the ass
I'm sure it's a nice car but it's very hideous looking.
Im a big Hyundai fan and I agree with you 100 percent, they are going in the wrong direction
16.3 cubic inch?? You mean feet.
I avg 34 mpg mixed driving
Went on a weekend trip hit speeds of 100 mph and my passengers didn't even notice.
The car has 6700 miles on it.
Amen to that, Gerald! I'll take a Camry or Accord over a Sonata any day when it comes to long term reliability.
Looks like some people are still stuck in the 80s. Hyundai quality is just as good as and Japanese automaker nowadays. Seen many positive reviews on people who have owned them reach over 200k, almost to 300k miles with nothing but regular maintenance. If you take care of them, they will be reliable.
