The nice thing about Hyundais is that there are usually substantial discounts available. I recently purchased a 2018 Limited 2.0T for around $26,000 after a $7,500 discount. You can't beat this car at that price. Good review btw.
As an owner I think I should chime in. The suspension has been totally tweaked for 2018 and the back axle has been tightened up so that it tracks a little better with less understeer. Doing some spirited driving around curves, the difference is totally apparent. I don't know how you can't tell the difference by driving around as you stated because the driving dynamics are totally different in this new set up for 2018. I have both the 2015 and a brand new 2018 and the difference is night and day. My 2015 turbo drives like an old Cadillac compared to the 2018, which gives me more confidence in spirited driving. The new eight speed transmission is awesome. Also the engine is not buzzy at all as you state. The noise you hear with the hood up is the fuel injection but once inside the car and driving it around it sounds very sporty, especially in the sport mode which holds the shift points a little longer then and comfort mode. This engine and the turbo is actually a Mitsubishi design by the consortium that created these engines. The engines now are built in Montgomery Alabama. It's not a race car but it's definitely a better choice of engines for this car. Other than this it was a nice review thank you.
Three questions 1. Is the infinity sound system the same or improved? 2. 18 Leather seat quality better? 3. Is the headlight output better at night with 18? Thanks
Adrian D I can tell you that the speakers are the same and the headlights are WAY better (I have a 2017). I am not too sure about the leather. Feels about the same.
Thanks Ermis, how noticeable is ride quality and steering feeling when making turns or swerving, my lease is coming up soon so may test drive the new one and g80 3.8
Sorry for the late reply. The steering was much better, still not the best in class however it is much more responsive. I liked it much better than my 2017. The ride quality was better too, bumps weren't bad (on bad pavement in NYC) and cabin noise was less than in my current vehicle. I recommend you give it a drive and if you give the g80 a drive I recommend the sport. That was a very fun drive.
In my opinion this is one of the most under rated cars on the market. Excellent warranty and reliability. Very spacious, great engine and transmission and I think it looks pretty good. And with discount you can have this car for about $27000. That's the same price and a mid tier Accord or Camry. Incredible value for money.
Chrome accents are lovely on this trim. I feel the electric blue is the most striking and beatiful color, followed by red. The rest are meh. Car turns on a dime too.
I looked at everything and cant believe i havent looked at this car. I made a pros and cons list and only had 1 con. Only 1 USB port. I had 12 pros. Only car with that many pros. I was leaning towards the Subaru Legacy but this car is a close competition for it. The only edge i can see with the Subaru is the awd. I didnt know this car had the same safety features on it. Impressive.
I know I’m late to the party, but I picked this car up as a CPO earlier this year, but the mid year refresh, as well as having the Ultimate package, which gives me back a panoramic sunroof, plus the sport interior black leather racing seats with blue piping & D-steering wheel, rear window shades, wireless phone charging, all the top of the line safety & drive assist features available for 2018. It is a seriously sleek, sexy looking silver car, and fully loaded?!? And I got it with only 12k miles on it and in pristine condition, the protective films were even still on all the interior lights! Unbelievable really, I basically got a brand new 3 year old car but I paid nowhere near it’s original almost $35k price tag 😎 I really love driving this thing!
I had a 2015 2.0T. I hated the transmission and the high pressure fuel pump pinging noise. It was extremely buzzy inside the car. Hopefully they fixed that. I has to get rid of it because the buzz it was annoying.
They even got rid of the dual exhaust for The Limited the only thing that has a dual exhaust now is the turbo where the turbo used to have a quad exhaust
My dad has a 2017 Sonata Limited 2.0T that came with a $6,000 rebate to get it off the lot and make room for the new incoming 2018 models so just seeing what the differences are. I like the new gen more, but my dad liked the old gen more.
Excellent review !! I have a 2018 Hyundai Sonata SEL which I love . However , this car the Limited 2.0 T is not worth it for that price in my opinion .
This is an awesome video! Thanks for creating and sharing! All your videos are so in depth, honest, and extremely detailed. Subscribed and liked! Are you safe and sound through the hurricane? How did the dealership hold up? I hope you stay strong. Be safe. Keep up the great videos!
Most likely the ES will get a mid-cycle refresh before then. The Elantra is very important to them, so I would imagine it will get a redesign for 2019/2020.
It's such a shame the new Azera won't come to our shores. I hope the Sonata does not become the flagship of the Hyundai brand now that Genesis has been separated from Hyundai under its own brand.
Shame about the panoramic roof. I love mine and it's become a personal must have on any future car I own. An opening that large will naturally introduce potential structural challenges, but the only issues I've had are the rubber seals getting kinda dry after years of ownership and obnoxiously squeaking when opening/closing. Gotta grease them up every once in awhile.
Sadly no I cannot. These are dealership vehicles that are for sale and I cannot just take them out and joyride them or use them for road tests. So sad to say, there wont be a test drive coming on this car.
My 2015 sonata ltd 2.0T will remain as I see nothing in the 2018 worth getting. My Nouveau Blue/Grey Interior will never be made again, and the 2018 Turbo/LTD can only get black interior which is unfortunate. The Panoramic Roof has been a great feature and a shame that it was discontinued. Also, the front end sucks and looks like the new Lexus front end. Also, the SONATA signage on the rear is really 'over the top'... Subtlety is classy. Thanks for the review...
I can not understand why they don't have a V6 engine in this car. Toyota retained the V6 in the Camry and the MSRP is about the same. Not to mention that the Camry has a 300 horse motor. I have purchased V6 Hondas for the last four models but no more. I think I will go with the Camry when I trade my 2014.
Don't knock the turbo motors until you've driven one. I have a '15 2.0T and sure it's down on HP compared to the Camry, but it's still no slouch at 245HP/260TQ. It's got some serious torque down in the low RPM's and essentially no turbo lag so you can pass just about anything with ease, even at highway speed. Also, Hyundai is one of the few manufacturers who designs their turbo motors to run on regular unleaded instead of requiring premium like most.
Actually yes it is. Check out Hyundai USA's website and check out the 2018 Sonata. I've worked for Hyundai for 3 years now, so I get all the heads up on the newest cars and I can indeed confirm that all 2018 Sonatas have BLIS.
Anyone with this car check your treble control on the radio, it does nothing on my car! The bass and midrange work fine, even though I like the frequency on the midrange control to be higher. Did Infinity forget the code for the trreble control?
They downgraded the car no panoramic sunroof no heated steering wheels no Auto open trunks car look smaller and in all honesty compared to my 2015 it doesn't look as Regal I particularly hate the Elantra tail light
I totaled my 2017 Santa Fe Sport earlier this year in a terrible accident, one thing that did not break? My panoramic sunroof... They’re far safer than you think… I know from first hand experience!
Awesome review! But this car has been taking step backwards in the design since the 2014 model. Went from sleek and premium looking, to looking weird and like a alien spaceship.
Oh good grief. You nit pick too much. If you don’t like Hyundai do videos elsewhere. Maybe ppl love this look. I think it’s pretty nice overall!! The 2020 Sonata is going to be luxurious!!!! Push button shift instead of gearshift and radio is completely overhauled...
The panoramic roof on these cars suck. They creek and they make noise all the time. It's definitely not worth the money and the best Hyundai did was eliminate it on this model.
cyberenz The lease on my 2015 Limited ends soon and I absolutely will not be getting this due to the lack of panoramic sunroof. I also dont like the front end. Not at a time when the Camry offers a pano sunroof and more to include a HUD.
went today to return my leased 2015 sonata limited /ultimate and i was upside down alittle over 4k tried for the 2018 camry xse and 2018 optima sx with tech pkg and was given monthly quotes of over $500 ,NOw I dont know what to do
cano malo Did you try to end your current lease early? I really don't want to buy a Hyundai since they depreciate so quickly, but at those monthly prices it may be best to just buy.
The nice thing about Hyundais is that there are usually substantial discounts available. I recently purchased a 2018 Limited 2.0T for around $26,000 after a $7,500 discount. You can't beat this car at that price. Good review btw.
I've been seeing that. Really thinking about it
James E. How did you get that discount ?

Hurricane Harvey hit 7 days after this was posted. I wonder if the area where he filmed this car ended up being flooded.
Camry and accord nailed it this years. The 2016 Hyundai limited2.0 is bad ass!
I looked at everything and cant believe i havent looked at this car. I made a pros and cons list and only had 1 con. Only 1 USB port. I had 12 pros. Only car with that many pros. 5:56 the chrome peace on the passenger front door missing at the top
It's actually protective tape covering it, that needs to be removed. Happened on our Santa Fe.
I'm glad that Canada gets to keep the panoroof, althought I'm more looking at a stinger for my next car.
have a 2015 limited 2.0T The panoroof is a must have....Looks like a stinger is on the way
levaranoia they added it back
G70
I had a 2015 2.0T. I hated the transmission and the high pressure fuel pump pinging noise. It was extremely buzzy inside the car. Hopefully they fixed that. I has to get rid of it because the buzz it was annoying.
Still gonna hold on to my 2013 limited 2.0t. Only has 55k miles on it.
one of the best reviews that ive seen job well done thumbs up
Hyundai is my favorite car
They even got rid of the dual exhaust for The Limited the only thing that has a dual exhaust now is the turbo where the turbo used to have a quad exhaust

I love this car
OG BOBBY JOHNSON! ayeeeeeee 🤙🏻
On the site in CT it says panoramic sunroof but its a single sunroof, I don't know whats going on at Hyundai.
You think the Elantra Sport will stay the same in 2020? I'm thinking about buying one after the lease is up on my Civic.
I honestly have no idea.
Most likely the ES will get a mid-cycle refresh before then. The Elantra is very important to them, so I would imagine it will get a redesign for 2019/2020.
Get the elantra sport
It's such a shame the new Azera won't come to our shores. I hope the Sonata does not become the flagship of the Hyundai brand now that Genesis has been separated from Hyundai under its own brand.
I think the Palisade is the Hyundai Flagship now
Shame about the panoramic roof. I love mine and it's become a personal must have on any future car I own. An opening that large will naturally introduce potential structural challenges, but the only issues I've had are the rubber seals getting kinda dry after years of ownership and obnoxiously squeaking when opening/closing. It weird because the hybrid limited has the panoramic sunroof
can you do a test drive of the sonata
Sadly no I cannot. These are dealership vehicles that are for sale and I cannot just take them out and joyride them or use them for road tests. So sad to say, there wont be a test drive coming on this car.
GrandPrixGTP02 lol but so many RUclipsrs do just that , test drive dealer cars , I think if you build a better relationship they might let you .
What leather seats are in it, please don’t tell me it’s the synthetic.
Such a good car
Whats the visor mirrors like? Illuminated?
My 2015 sonata ltd 2.0T will remain as I see nothing in the 2018 worth getting. 26:48 Recommended Premium fuel, is this true?
Please try to get an Elantra gt sport! I know Hyundai of sprig has some. Because aren't you based in the Houston Texas area?
Yes I am and it's already in the works. I just gotta wait for the one I'm eyeing for my review to be PDI'd and cleaned up!
Awesome man look forward to the video.

4's are much easier to maintain and support. This very much affects their warranties and price of repairs and everything else.
Can’t wait to trade my Elantra for this
Same here, I know it’s been 3 years but I have a 2017 Elantra limited.
@@stephancunningham2024 I had a 2017 Elantra limited too now I have a 2020 Hyundai Sonata SEL Plus
Blind spot monitoring is not standard on all trims. @5:20
Actually yes it is. Check out Hyundai USA's website and check out the 2018 Sonata. I've worked for Hyundai for 3 years now, so I get all the heads up on the newest cars and I can indeed confirm that all 2018 Sonatas have BLIS.
GrandPrixGTP02 Yes it is...!
I checked out. Sorry it was my bad!
It's all good. Thanks for stopping by regardless :)
GrandPrixGTP02 one more thing
Can you do the same review for Eco trim?
Incorrect. I sell these and it is standard on ALL 18's sonatas and elantra's from the SEL and higher trim.
Amazing car for the money Why wast money on German cars thanks hyndai
Great review😃
I love the front end I hate the rear end
The 17 model was way better, in my opinion of course. I felt it had a genesis feel to it.
It's just that front end..idk
Why do they get rid of the panoroof in the USA?????
Anyone with this car check your treble control on the radio, it does nothing on my car! The bass and midrange work fine, even though I like the frequency on the midrange control to be higher. Did Infinity forget the code for the trreble control?
Ignored the paddle shifters eh
They downgraded the car no panoramic sunroof no heated steering wheels no Auto open trunks car look smaller and in all honesty compared to my 2015 it doesn't look as Regal I particularly hate the Elantra tail light
A sunroof is a terrible structural item anyway. The panoramic roof just that much more of a death trap.
I totaled my 2017 Santa Fe Sport earlier this year in a terrible accident, one thing that did not break? My panoramic sunroof... They’re far safer than you think… I know from first hand experience!
If you park on city streets, someone parking ahead of you will smash this Sonata grill in less than six months.
Is it possible to get drivers assistance tech, without getting SEL, Limited, or limited 2.0T?
No panoramic roof??!! Pass.
Awesome review! But this car has been taking step backwards in the design since the 2014 model. Went from sleek and premium looking, to looking weird and like a alien spaceship.
Hey I love you so so much love ❤️
I want one! Lol
How could Hyundai be so cheap To not add remote start
its thru the phone
Oh good grief. You nit pick too much. If you don’t like Hyundai do videos elsewhere. Maybe ppl love this look. I think it’s pretty nice overall!! The 2020 Sonata is going to be luxurious!!!! Push button shift instead of gearshift and radio is completely overhauled...
The front looks exactly like the ford fusion - ugly. But i really like the side and esp the rear.
Coll
The panoramic roof on these cars suck. They creek and they make noise all the time. It's definitely not worth the money and the best Hyundai did was eliminate it on this model.
wrong....hyundai will lose alot of sales because the lack of a pano, watch
cyberenz The lease on my 2015 Limited ends soon and I absolutely will not be getting this due to the lack of panoramic sunroof. I also dont like the front end. Not at a time when the Camry offers a pano sunroof and more to include a HUD.

yes, 3 months early but I will still be upside down in 3 months
its still a hyundai
So?
Super ugly front end. So many better looking cars on the road and all much better quality than Hyundai.
RobFozney This isn’t Hyundai of the 90s anymore. They have just as good of build quality as any other foreign brand.
