  • A LOT to love about this new Sonata Turbo: its baby G80 looks, its loaded cabin/tech suite and its quicker sprint pace than last year.
We take the Phantom Black Sonata 2.0T around our favorite handling loop to see how it performs. No drone this time... but a big double-test weekend coming up.

I bought the 2018 Hyundai Sonata Limited 2.0T+ about 4 months ago, used but with only 12,000 miles on it and man, I couldn’t be happier! This car is sweet. I got the panoramic sunroof, the sport D steering wheel with the blue piped black leather racing seats in mine though and in pristine condition, it really is something to behold. The one guy who leased for those 3 years didn’t even take off the protective films off the interior lights, he only used it to run errands locally. I basically got a brand new 3 year old car 😂 And certified by Hyundai so I go great protection on it too! Love my Sonata ♥️

We Have One, And Love It! The Only Modifications We Did To It Were Changing The Front/Rear Turn Signals, Reverse Lights, License Plate Lights, Rear Dome Light, And Visor Lights To LEDs! Made A Huge Difference! ❤️❤️❤️

You did a good job laying out the pros, the cons, and how the car comes up short in the driving dynamics department. Thanks.

Shoot, I was going to get one to take to the track!
Seriously, I had a couple of '09s. The 2.4 was really all I needed. When it was totaled, I got the V-6, and only used the extra power a couple of times in merging. So my next car will be the 2.4 Limited, that's all I want, quiet and comfortable.

David Morse oh it will be anything but quiet after some years and some miles. At least with the 2011s

The price is right for the features and I'm not looking for a "performance" car in a Hyundai Sonata. This review, despite pointing out the negatives (which I appreciate knowing!), has pretty much sealed it - I'll probably be getting one of these in a month or two.

I’m thinking of trading in my 2016 Kia Soul for a 2019 Hyundai Sonata Limited 2.0T but I’m nervous because I hear so many bad things but I also hear good things. This car is so beautiful too 😖

I had a 2015 2.0T. I hated the transmission and the high pressure fuel pump pinging noise. It was extremely buzzy inside the car. Hopefully they fixed that. I has to get rid of it because the buzz it was annoying.

Yeah I agree!!! Tho I absolutely love my sonata!!! There is a delay with the turbo kicking in when you slam the accelerator down. Well not slam, but when you wanna get off to a fast start from a complete stop. I have learned to adapt to it, by pressing down the gas petal seconds or milliseconds prior to you actually wanting to launch... I also get a lot of wheel spin whenever I take off normally like pulling out of a parking lot into traffic. Kinda annoying sometimes.... Also, my one last complaint. I really hope they worked on the air conditioning in these cars. My 2012's air conditoner absolutely sucks and I was totally bummed and disappointed in hyundai because I loved everything about the car. Its just that dam a/c blows really really warm if your at a stop light with a/c on full blast on a hot 100 degree july day. I literally have to put it in neutral and rev the shit out of the engine to get it blowing cold again. I have even become so irritated and said screw the air!!! Turn the piece of junk off and roll down the dam windows...very annoying because air conditioning in a vehicle is pretty much top priority for me in purchhasing a new car. I cant stand to be hot and sweat. So i REALLY REALLY REALLY hope they addressed the issue, if i am to ever buy another hyundai. I do however LOVE it's sister the Kia!!! They are more my style as far as sporty look with chrome accents and chrome wheels!!!

Hi thank you for your review :-). One recommendation, if I may: skip the usual talk about style. Everyone does it (and we can all see the car but can't drive it). Go right to driving feel? Just an idea :-) Great performance review by the way! Have you reviewed the Genesis G70? I'm gonna go see if I can find that review by you. Again, I think the straight talk about the car's performance and skipping the style talk can be a good differentiator for you. Cheers :-)

I love the new look, she looks like a true road beast!!! I was very disappointed with the look of the last model years. Basically anything after the 2014 year look. I loved that years model. It looked so sleak, curvy and sexy with chrome accents on the outside and the same for the blue lit interior and dash. BEAUTIFUL!!! After that, they dummed the sonata down and made it look plain and boring...exterior, BOOOORING!!! interior, all flat and analog dash with an actual key and ignition, BOOOORING!!! who goes from keyless push start, back to actual key to start 😕 mine has push start and love it!!! Glad to see they refreshed the look she looks dam sexy again!!!

The 2.0T needs AWD before it makes sense. Too much power to the front wheels.

nice car,.too bad the turbo dont deliver as is suppoused to, i think some computer magic will make this car give more power and a better kick, i would go for a honda accord v6. this is just a bad configuration by hyundai
