The Sonata is such a value compared to the expensive Camry. $38k just seems unreasonable given the equipment lacking. People will buy Toyota regardless so I guess it really doesn't matter what Toyota puts out
In real world driving the immediate torque of the turbo is more useable. I wouldn't take a non turbo V6 over a turbo 4 unless the power difference is huge or it is going in an off road capable SUV.
I preferred the Sonata but I think Hyundai can do a better design and give it a more Sportier 19" or 20" wheel that's my opinion overall the car looks great!
Sami- Dude you crap on Toyota's at every chance you get!! Before I even began watching the video, I already knew you were going to lean towards the Hyundai...Also AA and ACP are not going to be the deciding factor for a majority of midsized family sedan shoppers. Reliability and Comfort will be. Both cars are much better than their predecessors. It's going to come down to the shoppers taste.
Derrick Scott The guy said last year that the worst car he drove for the year was the Lexus is300...I spit my drink out when I heard that LOL...I was like WOW,these guys at AutoGuide seriously have a problem.
Preparation H works wonders for a hurt bum. I know, I know, it’s cool to think Hyundai still makes crappy cars and Toyota is the king of the road, but that’s just not true anymore. Wait till the Genesis brand starts to take off and then your beloved Lexus will fall behind them too.
my 2013 sonata is the best car I've ever owned. Such an amazingly smooth ride. I really like the new 2018 Sonatas too with that beautiful logo on the trunk. New Camry is meh.
I like how car reviewers always praise other cars when comparing to Toyota Camry....in the end, there will be more Camry sold, more residual value, and left on the roads when all the competitors are in the junkyards.
baba Boo how many sold doesn't make it better. iPhone 8 sells more than galaxy s8, no way better. Anyway why would you want the same cast that's all your neighbors have
baba Boo it absolutely urkes me when they compare the lower trim Camry! The need to compare the XSE V6! I have one and love everything about it! Had an 07 and they r very reliable and sporty.
The Sonata looked far better around 2012 than it does now, they lost those sexy lines to be more bland like Toyota. At that time the Sonatas were all over the road, now I never see any new Sonatas on the road that right there says people aren't feeling the new Sonata design.
The reason you don't see any new Sonatas is because it was literally just released and the old Sonatas are being sold at a heavy discount. I haven't seen many new Accords or Camrys either, mostly due to the same reason.
I agree new Toyotas have funky transmission and it is weird in shifting but after about 5K miles you will notice the transmission smoothens quite a bit.
@@markyxvargas Yes, it hasn't had any issues whatsoever, it's very comfortable, has a great sound system; and is quiet, spacious, and smooth. It's a safe bet and a great family car. Now, would I buy it again? Maybe, but maybe not. It's not as powerful as I would like, so if I were in the market for another car I would do a lot more research and test driving.
I sold Toyotas, and I own a Sonata. I would say if you are a tall driver (6'6'') like me, MUST go with Sonata. I know fully loaded Camry comes with HUD and Birds Eye Camera system, but it still puts the car about $39k range where loaded Sonata is about $35k. A must-have for me is the ventilated seats, and better leg room, so I went with Sonata. Hyundai comes with better warranty 60k/100k vs 36k/60k. Also, I know Toyota offers 2year/24k miles free maintenance, but in 2 years all you do is oil chance anyways... Overall, i would go with Sonata again if I had to choose.
I drive a 2012 sonata and I can confidently say that they styling of the old sonata was far superior than the new ones and ahead of its time in styling it sexy lines
I'd have to agree with you, Sam. The lack of android auto and apple carplay is just plain stupid from Toyota (and Mazda). It is a deal breaker to many. I hope resale value improves more on the Sonata though.
beachslimes 13 yes it was a deciding factor with me. Rater than pay 1500 for a GPS, the built it android play allows me to plug in my phone to use gps as well as reply to text messages via car. It's awesome
N M I agree. I kinda understand Mazda since they sell far fewer cars than Toyota, it even then Toyota and Mazda really need to add that, especially Mazda cuz I love Mazda! I have a 2013 Mazda CX-5 and, while the bluetooth is decent and let’s me play music and have maps open, I’d much rather have android auto. But, hey, you could always just get a replacement radio for $400 that has android auto and Apple car play. Probably would cost about the same if you did that anyway...
Resale value still sucks bad. Real bad. $26k sonata limited was worth less than $10k after 2 years. Accord and Camry was well over $10k with similar mileage. I have Android auto but I don't use at all. It's useless feature. You really can't use other apps other than Google apps. Also you can't use features/apps on the phone while it's connected. I think Accord looks the best out of all family sedans this gen. But we all know Camry will be best seller.
they're both great cars, but the regular 4 cylinders in both are fine. No one should be racing these cars with their kids in the back.... hahaha! Way better than compact cuv like RAV4 or Tuscan.
The Toyota V6 will last longer than any turbo 4 cylinder. My 09 SE V6 just turned over 281,000 miles. Two tune-ups, brakes twice, oil changes & tires. That’s it. Amazing reliability. Built in Kentucky 🇺🇸
Brutha Dnubian I believe the ‘07-‘17 are all about the same dimensions. You don’t like the ‘12-‘14 but how about the ‘15-‘17? I think they’re a nice balance of aggressive and restraint.
The Camry is incredibly off-putting with its strange fish gill grill. The Camry interior is in Las Vegas style glitzy bad taste. Just making an object shiny does not make it well designed or good looking. Toyota has lost its way and needs a new styling design staff. The Sonata is a great car for a bargain price. The Koreans are beating the competition when it comes to automotive architecture. The new 2018 Hyundai Accent is what a small, sporty car should look like. It's an amazingly attractive design at an ultra low price.
I’ll have to test drive a Sonata. Loved the new Accord, but as a tall guy, I felt that the center console design reduced leg room. The steering wheel also didn’t telescope as much as I would’ve liked. Not a problem for everyone, but I would have to live with it for years. Loaded Sonatas seem to have a street price slightly below Accord Sport 2.0T with much more content. Interesting value proposition.
I have a camry like this in the video v6 and it has plenty of power even in low rpm pulls nice and smooth the inside is very nice and everyone that has been in my car really loves the inside and says how comfortable it is now as far as having a screen u can pull up in the back mmm I will stick to my 15% tint in the rear that's just something to be broken by kids and to call the arm rest cheap omg... Lol talk about nit picking there is absolutely nothing wrong with it it's easy to pull out stable and holds drinks with ease and because it lays flat on the seat it's less likely to bounce like I have seen from ones that kinda hover when u hit a bump kinda hard and with toyota it's always going to be a love or hate thing with looks I love my car and I think it looks great....i have never used android auto or apple car play but I have watch many videos to see what it is I'm missing and honestly it's not that great the voice feature in my camry does damn near the same thing has gps plays internet radio and all that I feel like the aa or acp is just one of them things people think they need kinda like a new i phone ! And not to mention 800watt jbl stereo is far better then what they offer
What's the big deal on Android Auto and Apple CarPlay? Every single car review I see mentions how a car doesn't have it and that's such a big problem. Don't really see the big hype about it
NOLAItsNotOva I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO FELT THIS WAY? Pardon me typing in CAPS I'm just really surprised someone shares the exacr thoughts I have on the subject. As if it makes the car better or worst, I'm so annoyed by them
Dewey AI I watch Redline Reviews, and that's his complaint on every car that doesn't have it. I'm like wtf. Who doesn't buy a car just because it doesn't have AA/APC. Makes zero sense. And how often do people even use those features that they give?
NOLAItsNotOva Exactly bro. I find it annoying as hell when they make it seem like a deal breaker. Just like the complaint about "not enough headroom", "not enough legroom", when EVERY car in every segment is now bigger, in and out, than their predecessors of a generation or 2 ago
i agree too, to me its not a big deal if it has it, thats not the reason ill buy the car, only reason would be how sporty it is and relailble, plus doesn't it use a lot of Data? im skeptical about that
Geo4242 It basically transfers your phone to your screen in the car. So it would use the same amount of data that you would normally use (to my knowledge)
This is critics when Toyota made a bland Camry they said the design is boring and not exciting to look at when they made a better looking Camry everyone saying its too much and Toyota went overboard. Like wtf! Toyota nailed the design on the new Camry. If I was in the market for one, Camry would be on my top list.
A body kit? Maybe you should research more. Toyota has done a lot to the Camry than just cosmetics and how am I a sheep? Lol. I don't even own a Toyota.
I have a 2015 Sonata Sport 2.0T Limited. Basically the only difference in the 2018 is visual, rear suspension upgrade, mine has a 6-speed automatic versus 8 speed, and the omission of certain things. I purchased it new March of 2016. Don't have kids and recently divorced so I didn't get it because it's a family car. I got it because it's my second Hyundai and I've worked on cars for 35 years. The first one was as reliable as sunrise. 2 years and 32,000 miles in with this one and it's a similar experience. I looked at other cars in the price segment when I was shopping 2 years ago but for the price, features, and warranty, I went where I felt comfortable. Back to Hyundai. I currently live in the Dallas area. Over the last 2 years I have driven this car to Austin, San Antonio, New Orleans, and a near 4000 mile road trip over seven days to Tucson, Newport Beach California, Sedona Arizona, and back. It is a phenomenal road trip vehicle. The instant torque makes it feel more like a V6. I didn't buy it for quarter mile and Nurburgring times LOL. I bought it because it does everything I ask of it, very well. While the 2018 may have beefier rear control arms and a refreshed design - which I have not really warmed up to, it is missing a few things that my 2015 has. That center console bin where you put your phone? Well mine has a door. The 2018 is also missing the door pockets that light up on the exterior front doors when you walk near it at night. It is also missing the trunk hinge covers, as well as the panoramic sunroof being omitted here in the US. I've never had any issues with mine. And Android Auto and Apple Carplay are a must. By the way not being a fanboy, but Android Auto Works far better. Not to mention the use of Google Maps on the head unit if the stock navigation can't find where you're looking for. And the sound system is pretty damn good. The smart cruise control does work extremely well. The seats are extremely comfortable - I'm 6ft2 and 195 pounds - as well as being heated front and rear, and ventilated up front. Headroom is not an issue even with the panoramic sunroof. And I do plan on keeping it forever lol. It actually was a 5-year cancer free gift to myself so I don't think I could ever bring myself to get rid of it. When I hit the 10-year cancer-free point, I'll park something else next to it.
I have a 2016 Sonata (without the safety features), which I like, but am not 'passionate about'. After renting a new 4 cylinder 2018 Camry LE recently for 4 days and putting 1,200 miles on it, I was ready to switch. It handles better, turn ins are quicker, the ride is a little firmer and not so floating. The mileage of my Sonata has been consistent around 35 mpg on the highway. However, doing a lot of highway driving with the Camry at speeds exceeding 70 mph, I was still getting almost 39 mpg. The only things that killed me going forth is 1) no Android Auto on the Camry (a dealbreaker) and, 2) I really hate that big mouth front end grill area. After seeing this report, I test drove a 2018 Sonata with the safety features. Yes, it definitely has better handling than the 2016, but it just didn't feel as much fun to drive as the 2018 Camry. So what's my final option, the 2018 Honda Accord EX, maybe!
AutoGuide is highly biased against Toyota’s and always has been. Previously they said the Camry has a smooth transmission for the 8 speed and now they say it doesn’t so which is it. Plus, you guys all have Canadian opinions, NOT American thoughts. If you like boring and simple then by all means, by a poor mans Genesis
Luke Turner 8 speed transmission is new territory of Toyota. Although that transmission has been there in Lexus. Toyota is slow to perfect the technology. It is work in progress. I am surprised that Hyundai managed to excel in 8-speed transmission given it is in-house production much like their in-house 7-speed DCT [Manually Automated]. Toyota is generally poor man driver but lately, Toyota has been making fun and sportier handling. Toyota main motto is reliability before anything which has been working fine so far and still is.
Mopar unreliable lmfao dude. I see old people drive lambo and Ferrari cars. Age don't mean nothing. There are two different camrys there's the laid back luxury one and then there's the sport driving and fast one(XSE). XSE camry It's the best looking car and most stylish car in its class. The model in this video is not the one I would get as a car enthusiast the XSE V6 is the racy model I want. Some wider tires lowered suspension nice wheels and a exhaust system would make the XSE Camry legit. I love the car I get it's not your style but hey theres people that don't like the M3 and mustangs so go figure for every car there's someone who doesn't like it.
Meh..Just get the 2.0T Accord auto Sport/EX-L/Touring. Full Safety Suite, Android Auto/Apple Car Play, 252HP Turbo and a really responsive 10 speed or a manual if you choose so.
Are you all on dope?? Toyota is better than Hyundai in the year of 2018?? Maybe it was true back in the Jap's glory days of 1980-1990 but those days are LONG~~ gone!!! Hyundai makes better cars than Toyota now and that's the fact!
Estrading Co This Camry is my fourth. Not one problem on any of them. You are on dope if you think everyone is entitled to your opinion. If you like the Hyundai, buy one.
I applaud Toyota for trying on design but i dont like the new Cam. Seems a bit much, and not a fan of the interior in particular the front stack. Never driven it but not good to hear on the drive train. Hyundai did a better job on design but didnt go far enough. Goldie lox i know but hey thats the truth.
Nevertheless, including all trims, of course, Toyota sold over 24,600 Camrys in January, while Hyundai sold a bit over 6,000 Sonatas. It is kind of funny to see that RUclips car reviewers tend to trash the cars that American buyers prefer. When comparing small SUVs, they put the CRV as far better than anything else, but Americans are buying Nissan Rogues and RAV4s instead of CRVs.
Hyundai is making way better looking cars these days. Toyota needs to fire whoever’s been making the new designs. New Toyota’s are hideous. The only good looking vehicles they currently have are the Tacoma and Tundra.
Not concerned about the lack of A.A. & A.C. what so ever. Camry looks cool but I think I'd take the 4cylinder Sonata Limited, save some gas money & have a longer warranty. They are also reliable according to Consumer Reports.
First of all I don't trust online reliability charts and use my trusted mechanic for information. Second, the camry gets better fuel economy. But I still can't deny the fact that the sonata is overall better
I had a Sonata as a rental not long ago. Excellent ride quality, but as mentioned in the video, there was a bit more noise than I would have expected for this segment. I haven't driven the new Camry, but it surely looks better than the last-gen (I had a 2015, but the relationship didn't last long, lol).
i got a 2018 Sonata and i love it. I leased it at first but then bought it outright because it was so nice. I drive in eco mode and can still chirp the tires when needed. When i put it in sport mode, it shoots my head back when i take off. I upgraded the sound system and that was it. I am thinking of upgrading the wheels. And the best part ? I only paid 25 for it. At one point i was paying more for my cable bill then my car. 250 a month
Camry is hardly class-leading in any category and it has been like this for years. Maybe it is because of this mediocrity that attracts families. People will say:" wow, that is a nice Hyundai" and keeps buying Toyota.
This dude clearly doesn't know how to drive a V6 automatic, I just smh when he was on about how he had to get it high-rev to get it to go, this engine has max torque @4700 rpm, basically a typical V6 engine that has all the low-end power. And if you drive a V6 like a race car indeed the transmission will feel clunky, what a clown.
Wild design? overboard? wtf are you smoking. They finally made a design that isn't boring to look at. Also, drives and XLE talks about driving dynamics. Drive the XSE then talk about driving.
Crazy that the Sonata has all the features with that lower price tag. I’d have to disagree on the Camry transmission....I drove one and was pleased with how it shifted. Still smooth and plenty responsive. To each his own..love these comparisons though!
I drove a Camry ( when they were new, like the review) and found the V6 lacked response. As the tester said, it has to rev to respond. Interestingly, the Sonata was more responsive, despite being a 4 cylinder and a turbo. Peak torque for the Sonata is at 1350 RPM. Hence the feeling of response. And I notice the Sonata has paddle shifters. Also, the current (2023) model Sonata has more power, more torque, and a dual clutch transmission. So that would be very responsive. (The current Camry here in Oz (2023) is only available as a hybrid or NA 4 cylinder. No turbo, no V6.)
You can adjust the gap with the radar cruise control with how close or how far you want to be. The transmission on toyota’s are so much better, they last long. Hyundai’s are known to have unreliable transmissions, and they still do. Just look online. Not hard to find. If you want a refined car that will get you from A go B, with comfort and style, choose the Camry. They have a better warranty and will hold up longer. No wonder they are Americans best selling car for the past 15 CONSECUTIVE years. You should have compared the SE model of the Camry, as well as the hybrid, you aren’t doing fair justice. the XSE V6 is much better looking and feeling.
Hennessy * By virtue of the FACT that they sell more than everybody else, even a smaller percentage of their total volume may equal a greater number of recalls than the other guy. Fact!
Why is the thumbnail and comparison comparing two completely different categories of trim level? The body style of the Camry is near base. Base wheels, base styling options etc. The XSE trim would make the comparison look like they are comparing a Sonata to a Lexus. And if pricing is the reason they picked the XLE, it’s still not a fair comparison. Because the 2.5L 4-cylinder XSE trim is priced at $29,000. Now that’s a review I would want to see. Not a review showing a optioned out base model Camry against the highest trimmed Sonata.
If your saying turbocharged engines dont last as long that is a myth that is now debunked new (modern) cars dont have that problem look it up!!!! Turbocharged engines last the same as a naturally aspirated engine
Define worse. Nothing he complained about was an actually problematic attribute rather than a preference. He preferred the styling, he preferred the transmission, he preferred the interior, he preferred the engine. He didn't provide any objective measurements. None. He said the sonota feels faster but it isn't Actually faster. LOL. Here we had an auto journalist sit her and complain about having to rev and engine. When did this start happening? Now we hate revving cars?
Lets start with the fact that you get more feature for a lot less money, an interior that to my eyes looks better designed (Camry looks like a 1996 taurus interior design wise) and the exterior looks better on the Sonata. Camry, again is missing Android Auto and Apple car play - that'll get annoying fast. The camry also has lots of quality and design cuts (he showed the arm rest for example) I agree the Camry has a better engine, that 2.0T that Hyundai uses is not great.
The reason why the power train of the Camry was not up to your expectations is that it was rebuilt from the ground up and almost every car will have those kind of things that they need to refine and or fix but I love the Camry it is the best nothing will ever change my mind about a Camry
Great comparison! It's funny how both Toyota and Hyundai have opted for the large badge lettering along the trunk, much like the 1992 Acura Vigor. Funny how design comes full circle.
My deal breaker with both these cars is the lack of AWD. In 2018 ALL mid size sedans should be offering AWD as an option, but all you get is the Legacy with its appliance grade drivetrain and rough ride or the tight interior and high price of an AWD Fusion (you can only get AWD with the 2.0T on the Fusion which jacks the price up a ton). I would also add in the negatives column for the Fusion, the seats in the SE trim level are awful, so you really want to get into the titanium trim level to get decent seats.
Camry seats are awesome especially those headrests - personally dislike when you have to tilt your head back so far to rest your head so if you like a seat where the headrest isnt far behind your normal position without feeling too upright then the Camry seats are just fine. The V6 is a great motor and the transmission isnt 'clumsy'... it is actually very refined, but it isnt very quick or snappy as you might find in the Accord or in VW's DSG gearboxes. I really dislike the styling of the Carmy front end - rhinoceros nose. I dislike the Sonata redesign though as well.. I really enjoyed the fascia they had when they initially introduced the full redesign back in '15
i like how he didnt mention the camry's STANARD automatic braking/radar cruis control, and the "brake holdl feature Which allows you to take your foot off the break every time you stop the car and hold the car in place to take some tension of your legs
When is Hyundai/Infinity coming out with an update for the flawed radio in the 2018 Hyundai Sonata Limited 2.0T? The treble control doesn't work for the radio, not just in my car, but in ALL 2018 Sonata Limited 2.0Ts! The slider moves from -10 to +10, but there is no change in the high frequency sound, like there should be! The bass and midrange controls work fine, even though I would prefer the midrange center frequency to be higher, say 3kHz, it is too low in frequency now to do any good! I can't believe they haven't changed the midrange center frequency since the 2012... I had one of them, till it was rear ended by an 18 year-old girl, and they still kept the same center frequency for the midrange! The midrange frequency should alter basically the voice frequencies! However, my main issue is with the treble control not working at all! Infinity where is your quality control? Do you try out your products before you release them? Come on, get me an update so my radio will sound like it should! I'll bet there is no issue with treble control for the radio in the 2018 HONDA ACCORD! Show less REPLY J Trager Add a public reply... hyundai is cheaper and better looking then toyota in my opinion. toyotas have a legendary reliability but hyundai's do offer 60k bumper to bumper and 100k power terrain warranty. if you are in the market you should definitely check out the hyundai's. you just might be pleasently surprised.
Hey man im korean but i prefer camry over sonata cuz camry served me well for 15 years and the sonata i used only last half of camry lifespan. From my experience i choose camry
Dont get fooled Look closely and you will see how terrible are the camrys interior I was feeling the same until i seen inside and out Its so poor quality Few years down you definitely will see its degradation Poor and hard plastics poor leather similar camry design from years ago I thought toyota has a winner here One look and disappointing sinks in
All I know is that I have the older V6 Sonata, and it is a cruiser. Went on vacation a couple of months back doing 95 to 100 barely touching the gas peddle, and the Sonata just flew up grades like they were nothing. Don't know why Hyundai would dump the Sonata V6, because it is a great engine.
While cars are definitely not an investment I will say that Toyota has a product that meets its reputation. I have not purchased a Toyota but I own three Lexus models. ‘97 LS400, ‘98 ES300, and an ‘01 GS300. These cars are infallible and of course are 100% Toyota. They look and run today every bit as good as they did 15 years ago. I see Hyundais and Kias from two years ago and most of them look dilapidated with smoke billowing out of them from every opening. This video makes me want to run out and buy a gently used 2018 Camry (because I never buy new ).
Sonata is probably the better value all round (and doesn't look hideous), but I love Toyota's commitment to correctly aspirated engines: Same combined MPG from a smooth revving, more powerful 3.5 liter v6 when compared to that ubiquitous, yawn inducing 2.0t that seems to be in every damn car! It's a glorious middle finger to the massive, indistinguishable herd of downsizing automakers.
Sonata all the way. Price, warranty, value, and design. Toyotas interior us so outdated.
The Sonata is such a value compared to the expensive Camry. $38k just seems unreasonable given the equipment lacking. People will buy Toyota regardless so I guess it really doesn't matter what Toyota puts out
Blake Swan its less. The XSE which is the top notch camry is $35
The Camry will outlive the sonata maybe that's why people buy it.....
Its because toyotas are very durable cars. Its almost person proof
Toyotas are bullet proof. Hyundai is just the looks. Being decieved.
Everyone please buys Camry so that I can have great deal on Sonata....

I honestly still prefer the 2017 Hyundai sonata but in the limited trim or limited 2.0 trim. That car looks gorgeous both interior and exterior
For 2018 the 8-speed auto was added....that may seem like a small change but reviews say its 1 second quicker to 60 and get close to 40mpg on hwy.
Yeah that design has aged really well
I'm not a fan of Hyundai/Kia, but i would much rather have the Sonata over the Toyota, the Camry looks like a foot.
Dee T I mean if u don't plan on keeping that junk for a while I guess its a better choice
Hyundai will break at 100k miles, camry might still be running at 400k

Typically I go with the vehicle with the most HorsePower but the Hyundai gets my vote this time.
In real world driving the immediate torque of the turbo is more useable. I wouldn't take a non turbo V6 over a turbo 4 unless the power difference is huge or it is going in an off road capable SUV.
mrvwbug44 you said it with this one....couldn't agree more.
Camry is nice, but I like the Sonata better. Also, I think a XSE V6 would've matched the comparison better.
I thought it was the xse v6 in the Camry...
The xleis identical inside.
Just wait for the next gen. Sonata (probably coming for the 2020 model year), it's gonna shit on every other midsize sedan.

Dexter Paglinawan the transmission in the Camry is absolute shit. It sucks all the power out of the engine.
Donovan you obviously never been in a xse Camry the Toyota is better especially in reliability
The Sonata easily wins. Apple and Android carplay WITH wireless charging. No more messing around with cables.
And HOW the heck does toyota get away with not offering this great feature.. That's should be a straight disqualifier for a car buyer nowadays!
the Toyota has wireless charging also
I dont even listen to music. Are you buying a car because of android? Are you 16years old?

baba Boo it absolutely urkes me when they compare the lower trim Camry! The need to compare the XSE V6! I have one and love everything about it! Had an 07 and they r very reliable and sporty.
Jennifer Foy the XLE is a high trim
The Sonata looked far better around 2012 than it does now, they lost those sexy lines to be more bland like Toyota. At that time the Sonatas were all over the road, now I never see any new Sonatas on the road that right there says people aren't feeling the new Sonata design.
Thats because most of them are rental cars
The reason you don't see any new Sonatas is because it was literally just released and the old Sonatas are being sold at a heavy discount. I haven't seen many new Accords or Camrys either, mostly due to the same reason.
+Rat Face I've only seen 2 new Sonotas at the most. And it's been out for months. On the flip side, I've seen plenty of new Accords and Camrys.
Lol I see the 2018s everywhere now in my area, I did like the 2011-2017 style a little better.
Joshua R Shit I only see new Camrys EVERY WHERE, I have only seen 3 new Accord, crazy
Compare the Sonata to the new Accord or to the new Mazda 6
That will be an interesting comparison, the new Accord is extremely good.
The Accord is hideous. It's a ugly duckling 🦆 to say the least😂
Mazda 6 all the way
I agree new Toyotas have funky transmission and it is weird in shifting but after about 5K miles you will notice the transmission smoothens quite a bit.
I really don't get how the Sonata has a "natural" feel when driving.
Lol I think he means throttle response. Definitely not steering feel lol
Was this video filmed with a Sonata outside of the U.S.? Because we don't have the panoramic sunroof anymore as an option with the post-refresh model
NileshR12 I think they are in Canada.
It’s Canada
NileshR12 انا tyota
I bought a 2018 Hyundai Sonata GL. I'm very happy with it.
hi there, just curious since this comment is 2 years ago- are you still happy w your sonata?
@@markyxvargas Yes, it hasn't had any issues whatsoever, it's very comfortable, has a great sound system; and is quiet, spacious, and smooth. It's a safe bet and a great family car. Now, would I buy it again? Maybe, but maybe not. It's not as powerful as I would like, so if I were in the market for another car I would do a lot more research and test driving.
I'm glad Toyota and Honda finally got a clue that they need to update their exteriors to get other buyers
i love my 2013 sonata turbo im the second owner and hyudai still warranties for 75k miles, very comfortable ride
im with sonata....
Well I like the new camry and I see a ton on the road but I don’t see the refreshed sonata anywhere
bigmac22ify same design since 2011
I don't know anything else, but I think Sonata is much better than Camry in design.
Overall, i would go with Sonata again if I had to choose.
sonata, win. nice design and quality
100%
Tested both. Toyota is better performance.
Still like the Camry. Maybe it's just me but I love all of Toyota's design
N M does it really matter about apple car play and Android auto
beachslimes 13 yes it was a deciding factor with me.
N M new avalon has apple car play
TeslanthoCanada I prefer a v6
Over a turbo 4.
The Toyota V6 will last longer than any turbo 4 cylinder. My 09 SE V6 just turned over 281,000 miles. Two tune-ups, brakes twice, oil changes & tires. That’s it. Amazing reliability. Built in Kentucky 🇺🇸
The Alpha Male Wow i think i want to buy a 2011 which i believe is the last year of the longer Camrys....i don't like the 2012 body.
Brutha Dnubian I believe the ‘07-‘17 are all about the same dimensions. You don’t like the ‘12-‘14 but how about the ‘15-‘17? I think they’re a nice balance of aggressive and restraint.
XSE trim looks much better than XLE
It's about time the Sonata beats the Camry!!! 😃
Victor M.
Crochet
Croocha yarns
Heck ya!! Down with war criminals and history liars!!!!
Sonata looks like a car that a cow spit up. Get this Kim Jong un nuke cart off the ground. It’s so rownery!
Victor M. It doesn't. Drive both for yourself. I did. Camry. No comparison.
I love my 2011 Sonata....interior much better than new ones...new interiors look like a step back...the 2.4 serves me well and is a gem...
I can't wait to see Sonata beating Camry in sales volume.
Eugene Parkerson never
Eugene Parkerson never happen
In ur dreams maybe...
Well, keep waiting
That will never happen! Every car out there will always compare themselves to Toyota because they know it’s one of the best cars you can get.
The sonata looks one million times better, that's why Id go for the sonata... Otherwise they're kind of pretty close
Daniel Orozco good luck with the resell value
It's hideous that sonata
It's simple. If you want a reliable and grey resell value car get Toyota 😏
2015 Sonata had the rear heated seats in US and I am sure this one has too.
IMO 2015-2016 was better looking. The front DRLs and the rear, especially.
These engines won't overheat like the accord 2.0T lol
Leaves on trees, and fallen leaves on the ground... Was this video filmed in October and just posted today?
This is critics when Toyota made a bland Camry they said the design is boring and not exciting to look at when they made a better looking Camry everyone saying its too much and Toyota went overboard. Like wtf! Toyota nailed the design on the new Camry. If I was in the market for one, Camry would be on my top list.
AJ Jacob People can’t handle that the Camry went outside the box lol
A body kit? Maybe you should research more. Toyota has done a lot to the Camry than just cosmetics and how am I a sheep? Lol. I don't even own a Toyota.
The XSE package does look eye catching and overwhelming the Hyundai on the styling
Luke Turner These Guys @ AutoGuide are a complete joke,I don’t think anyone serious about vehicles takes their opinion seriously.
Luke Turner
8 speed transmission is new territory of Toyota.
The new Camry is dope.
LOVE the XSE 301hp v6 model 19inch wheels, black painted roof and the sexy red interior ❤️
Toyota4Life add one more loss to the camry's list!
Mopar unreliable no one would buy it if it's wasn't a great car. And now it has 301hp and even better looks no reason not to buy one 💯
Just-a-mazin 33 what lost? Lmfao
Toyota4Life name one comparison test the camry has won...take your time...ill wait...name one award the camry has won...take your time...ill wait...
Meh..Just get the 2.0T Accord auto Sport/EX-L/Touring. Full Safety Suite, Android Auto/Apple Car Play, 252HP Turbo and a really responsive 10 speed or a manual if you choose so.
ChaoticCorruptor 252 hp is weak tbh
The Camry is sweet. Nonsense, the transmission is great.
Tim Ringer the XSE v6 is a smooth transitional shift. The car rides like a dream. I own one.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I agree. I have the XLE V6. Shifts are smooth and refined. And very fast. I have driven a new Sonata. Can’t compare in ride or comfort.👍👍👍👍👍
Tim Ringer transmission is clumsy
I applaud Toyota for trying on design but i dont like the new Cam. Seems a bit much, and not a fan of the interior in particular the front stack. Never driven it but not good to hear on the drive train. Hyundai did a better job on design but didnt go far enough. Goldie lox i know but hey thats the truth.
Hyundai wins! It also looks more elegant!
Paul Sugano it will also last less and resell value sucks
It might win but it is really ugly. Fish face like...
Hyundai Wins lol. Can it lasts longer? Lol it might stop 100k miles. Toyota can still run 500k.
Was this video made 3 months ago? What are the trees just turning colors?
I agree considerably!
Why dressing the seats and dash board with black colored leather? is it nice if they use tan colored leather and wood design panels?
Not concerned about the lack of A.A. & A.C. what so ever. Camry looks cool but I think I'd take the 4cylinder Sonata Limited, save some gas money & have a longer warranty. They are also reliable according to Consumer Reports.
Toyota offers the V6 as an Option. Otherwise you get a naturally aspirated Inline-4 engine that gets 203 hp with 30/42 mpg...or a hybrid option.
First of all I don't trust online reliability charts and use my trusted mechanic for information. Second, the camry gets better fuel economy. But I still can't deny the fact that the sonata is overall better
Why was the comparison done with the XLE and not the XSE?
Yes! It seems unfair!!
250 a month
Nice review, tackling both positive and negative aspects of each of the cars. Keep it up!
Actually Camry xse model is much better. I drove it and it drives like a dream
Camry is hardly class-leading in any category and it has been like this for years. Maybe it is because of this mediocrity that attracts families. People will say:" wow, that is a nice Hyundai" and keeps buying Toyota.
Nanxing Luo I mean... I’m a dad and I will probably never buy a Toyota or Lexus, ever.
Osoji I’m a dad as well & will NEVER,EVER buy a Hyundai & that’s a fucking FACT.
Smooth Operator I don’t mean to be snarky, but do you consider them as unreliable as they were in the 90s?
Osoji They’re not my style.
Thank you, people used to complain that Camry's were too boring, now they made them better and they still complain.
Sonata looks more aggressive than camry and sonata is an absolute beauty on the road.
Which is that soundtrack at the end of the video??
Toyota vehicles are the #1 in recalls ... Fact
I wonder how long that turbo engine is going to last
well at least 10y/100k miles
If your saying turbocharged engines dont last as long that is a myth that is now debunked new (modern) cars dont have that problem look it up!!!! Turbocharged engines last the same as a naturally aspirated engine
Hyundai turbocharged engines have been reliable and so is Volkswagen concerning 1.4 and 1.8 TSI so far.
Sonata is a better car. It might be more reliable, but that price difference up front is huge for a worse car.
The camry also has lots of quality and design cuts (he showed the arm rest for example)
I agree the Camry has a better engine, that 2.0T that Hyundai uses is not great.
Camry by far. Hyundai is fucking junk.
I agree with the look but I disagree with the reliability. I strongly stand on Toyota side for their reliability. Both great cars tho
cj miller PERFECTLY said
The reason why the power train of the Camry was not up to your expectations is that it was rebuilt from the ground up and almost every car will have those kind of things that they need to refine and or fix but I love the Camry it is the best nothing will ever change my mind about a Camry
Rebuilt from the ground up.... its the same powertrain that's in the RX350 and the Highlander.
Great comparison! It's funny how both Toyota and Hyundai have opted for the large badge lettering along the trunk, much like the 1992 Acura Vigor. Funny how design comes full circle.
So was the whole catching on fire thing considered for this comparison?
That was mostly Kia
Well I'm finally convinced autoguide dislikes Toyota and Lexus products. It's getting out of control the way they dis on them.
true
My deal breaker with both these cars is the lack of AWD. In 2018 ALL mid size sedans should be offering AWD as an option, but all you get is the Legacy with its appliance grade drivetrain and rough ride or the tight interior and high price of an AWD Fusion (you can only get AWD with the 2.0T on the Fusion which jacks the price up a ton). I would also add in the negatives column for the Fusion, the seats in the SE trim level are awful, so you really want to get into the titanium trim level to get decent seats.
I'll take Toyota's legendary quality, longevity and reliability any day over the Hyundai.
I really enjoyed the fascia they had when they initially introduced the full redesign back in '15
I love the new Camry! It's lit 🔥
They tried
Instant health Man umm no 2012- 2017 Camry was ugly asf the body style was ugly including the design the new 2018 Camry is alright
gross
You sure you know what "lit" means?
Carlos Herrera Peralta its nice but the lower large grill is ugly as hell they should've it like the Lexus but oh well
i like how he didnt mention the camry's STANARD automatic braking/radar cruis control, and the "brake holdl feature Which allows you to take your foot off the break every time you stop the car and hold the car in place to take some tension of your legs
Keye T- He just doesn't like Toyota.
Derrick Scott i see
what is the title of the song at beginning please?
I am happy to buy Toyota Camry. I rather buy a Japanese own BUT build in America BY American's people than a foreign. We need to keep a job here!!!
The South Koreans never Bombed Pearl Harbor plus most Hyundais are built in the US. Just sayin
The intro music is sweet! Whats the name of the track please?
Toyota king of RELIABILITY is all that matters
No, you are wrong. It was #1 - 2 (Kia included) for reliability with repair pal.
I'll bet there is no issue with treble control for the radio in the 2018 HONDA ACCORD!

hyundai is cheaper and better looking then toyota in my opinion. toyotas have a legendary reliability but hyundai's do offer 60k bumper to bumper and 100k power terrain warranty. if you are in the market you should definitely check out the hyundai's. you just might be pleasently surprised.
Like the Sonata but the 2.0 T motor has presented us with some pricey repairs once warranty expired.
Unfortunately their are still haters of Korean Vehicles. Haters gon hate
@윤중원 but you guys dont buy japanese cars also in korea, so maybe it makes sense for them
@윤중원 so many korean suffering from the paranoia lol
Down with the Kim jong Un commie car!!!!
Hey man im korean but i prefer camry over sonata cuz camry served me well for 15 years and the sonata i used only last half of camry lifespan. From my experience i choose camry
@@daegham6006 i once traveled korea, i saw 0 mazda6, 0 accord, 0 camry, 0 altima
Dont get fooled
Look closely and you will see how terrible are the camrys interior
I was feeling the same until i seen inside and out
Its so poor quality
Few years down you definitely will see its degradation
Poor and hard plastics poor leather similar camry design from years ago
I thought toyota has a winner here
One look and disappointing sinks in

Agreed if you're accustomed to putting things in your door bin, you'll be very disappointed
Stupid how he mentions that he can tilt his phone up on the pad in the Sonata... but makes no mention that that pad is a Qi wireless charger!!?
