    For soloing, I recommend first getting comfortable with some basic musical phrasing using just a few notes at a time, which is what my "Soloing for Complete Beginners" course is all about: bit.ly/2YNYmHN

    All that being said, the #1 method for becoming a proficient improvisor and soloist on guitar is to transcribe music by ear and then take those ideas and make them your own. After you learn something by ear, you then want to understand what it is - what is the context? Then you'll know when to apply it, and how to expand upon it. If you're just starting out, you can just learn a few riffs you like, figure out what scale/key/chord etc is associated with the riff (context) and then workshop that riff! Make it your own - use it as a motif, and build a whole solo around it!!

    Dude, you're like the ONLY person TEACHING guitar on RUclips. It seems like everyone else just wants you to see how well they play. I love the way you have the guitar on screen with the notes being played. Such a genius idea. Thank you!

    I did all of this on my own before watching your video😊I made hand drawn diagrams and learnt most of it myself because there were no lessons on RUclips. Strangely I was finding lessons of what I was practicing after I finished practicing, anyways these lessons will help lot of the new learners. Good for me to review now and then, thank you 🙏🏽 😊

    I've been playing the guitar on and off since I was 16, I'm 26 now. I'm mostly self taught. I've been stuck in a loop for awhile now, this video helps sooooo much! I've watched so many other guitar players videos but I've never been able to really learn anything because none of the lessons stick, I watch 10 mins of your videos and boom! It all makes sense. Thank you so much!

    Great video! Yeah I'm late to the party a little. But "Gary Ate Buggers, BeCause Dynamite Explodes!" Or just "Gary Ate Buggers, Cuz Dynamite Explodes!" That's what my daughter and I came up with. We honestly did not see the comments before we came up with that, but would be happy to share the credit if it really took off. We will definitely be using that from now on though!

    Some folks don't even know notes but their playing is captivating but what's the real essence of know notes on guitar?

    • @PowMusic
      @PowMusic  3 года назад

      It helps you to communicate with others and understand others attempts to communicate with you about what to play in a way other than purely by listening and demonstrating. Makes like as a musician much easier.

    Totally wrong man! The correct way is “in 10,000 BC nobody knew Elmer Fudd”. Elmer Fudd was in a cartoon that came out somewhere in between 1900 something and the 1970s. You’re welcome 😉
