The thing that makes the rambler a no go for me is the fact that you loose a cargo bay that fits a vehicle for a table and a suit locker. The scout is the best one for exploring since it has got the same cargo bay as the regular cutter (that fits many vehicles), and a scanner which will help with exploration.
Redundant gun rack is a question mark for me. Wouldn't a homie exolorer type ship want something a bit more versatile? Surprised they havent thought up a med gun refil station, or a few neat things to take up those small ship spaces.
I like the Rambler and actually upgraded my standard Cutter. Will probably be in the selection to tour Pyro. But i think the better ship to compare her with would have been the Mustang Beta.... maybe the Nomad in terms of living compartments as well. While i get the idea of them being close in price, there is no way any of those small starters compare to the Titan
I'm very happy with the rambler. I'm not a PvP player and I have other ships to do cargo and salvage. So, the rambler is my exploration one seater and it feels awesome. I use the small cargo hold to have 1scu box to store loot.
I will take 2 extra SCU any day over weapon racks. Maybe if weapon racks would be more than just storage (refilling ammo for example), it would be worth consideration, but right now 2 SCU will allow you to carry more weapons in storage boxes than all weapon racks even on the largest ship. Basicly, you are trading 2 SCU for extra fuel tank and its a bad trade if you ask me, especialy in the long run, where you could use Cutter as your snub for your ship with a hangar bay.
In the current patch the rambler has massively better quantum range than either the base Cutter (2x) and the Avenger Titan (Rambler has over 4 times the range and better efficiency). If you are doing only short trips then its not that big of a deal, but if you want to move yourself and some of your stuff all the way across Stanton or even Pyro or do some 'rambling' around just looking at things then the Rambler is a great pick for a cheap(er) easy ship. It is a great solo exploring ship.
Not all starters are even meant to be compared to the Avenger. There's nothing wrong with mentioning the Avenger when talking about any starter ship but a lot of reviewers speak of it as a direct competitor when it's not. You can't even lump starters by price range in this game, let alone any other sthip. CIG's pricing method is based off of marketing the rule of cool and really as very little to do with form or function. That said and in my opinion, starter ship comparisons should be based on function, form/facts and then price with a mention of CIG's whack pricing model. And honestly even it's own marketing geered piricing model doesn't always make sense either.
I use it a lot. It has instant claim time, enough fuel to support a Vk00 for travel and have extra seats. And it has a lot signature so ideal for jumptown
A small tip is to use the Spectre over the Vk. The vk has really bad stage 1 acceleration so if you mostly use the cutter in a single planetary system it will be do you better. Ofc the spool time is a little better on the vk though so you could make the argument for it. I recomend trying the swapp at least and see how you feel about it.
I think a lot of the inter-variant comparisons are tough at this point with things not really being feature complete yet. That said, I like this line and Drake, in general
i really wanted a cutter, but i really refused to pay for anything withoute lifetime insurance, so i got the rambler, i will be damned if i woke up one day, crashed my ship, and realized my insurance was out after a long break, its only drawback is 2 less cargo, which lets face it, has almost no value, atleast to me, and its smaller cargo room, but since its warbonded, i can always upgrade to the scout if i find it annoying i cant store a land vehicle in there at a later date
I'm torn. I like this ship, a lot actually, with the interior change to shove the dividing bulkhead back to expand the hab space. On the other hand, I don't like that, because it kills your chance of carrying a vehicle with you.
its both. so the rambler will have 440100 Hydro and 2940 QDF.So literalll 33% more fuel and thats huge being with that much more fuel and same QD the rambler can go 500mkm compared to base cutter's 333mkm max ranges.
Has the Scout's radar range been tested by anyone? I got it so that I would be able to detect unknowns at a bigger distance, so far I can't tell if it's any better than my Nomad.
For a starter ship, used to earn money, it is not good which absolutely validates all your points. For a daily runner it's awesome, looks cool and is just fun to fly. Thanks for taking the time to do such a detailed review. Take care.
I've been looking for a ship that would serve as a Van Life sort of deal. Been looking at the 315p for a while for that but I think I like this rambler better. And I personally think the avengers are ugly.
i like how you think the titan looks better. i dont get the titan just simply because i refuse to have something this ugly. not even for ingame currency.

Hey hey, just fyi, they corrected the fuel and now it’s 2940 quantum field and 440000 hydrogren, making it more than even the Syulen

I'm going to do the same thing, upgrade from "base" model. I like the looks, and the layout.
The Cutters made me want to see an updated design for the Avengers.
I'm very happy with the rambler. I'm not a PvP player and I have other ships to do cargo and salvage. So, the rambler is my exploration one seater and it feels awesome. I use the small cargo hold to have 1scu box to store loot.
Another place this variant is better than the other Cutters would potentially be for bunkers, but even with that, I still think Avenger tops
yupp avenger is still goated, i love the C8R too

the style dude, the style.
in my eyes it 100x better than avengers serie.
Good stuff. NOTE: all cutters will have 2xs2 GIMBALLED - once they removed the Drop in Size penalty.

The brochure on the Rambler states 1 extra Size 1 quantum and hydrogen tanks on that "backpack" on top of it.
Should give you extends range. BUT even the base version has 1960 fuel. So it's rambled lies currently.
Awesome review TYVM

if the additional fuel unit is on the roof of the ship, why is the cargo smaller?
Something the Cutters have that the Avenger Titan doesn't. Gun racks. Shared storage.
Has the Scout's radar range been tested by anyone? I got it so that I would be able to detect unknowns at a bigger distance, so far I can't tell if it's any better than my Nomad.
Last one for the year. Merry Christmas . see you in the new year
the scout should have the long range fuel tanks and maybe the rambler should be the scanner
if you mean as in the scout should have the smaller cargo room and the rambler keep the larger room for vehicles then i fully agree on that one.
Only reason to get a Cutter especially the rambler is the LTI token as long it has it.
For a starter ship, used to earn money, it is not good which absolutely validates all your points. For a daily runner it's awesome, looks cool and is just fun to fly. Thanks for taking the time to do such a detailed review. Take care.
saw someone type "ima buy a rambler and be a turd in the wind" today lol

The funny thing is, you looking up the definition of the word “Rambler”
Rambler should have shielded cargo for smuggling 😊.
The Scout has a medium radar and medium cooler.
CIG should add more seats inside so you can chat with other poor souls during long quantum to nowhere😂
I bought 2 warbond for LTI tokens. Funny ships may keep one as a transport ship for getting gear or other minor tasks.
Same answer as always: NOPE!!!
You don't need to buy any ships in the game. Buy it if you want to.
Of course buy it, one of the cheaper LTI tokens.
Cutter is cutter eh
Yes Mr. Blood yes you should
No! Stop giving CIG money or the game will never come out!!!!!!!!
Copy/Paste Ship. Not there worst fluff sale ship.. That goes to the cutles steel 😅
This is obviously a very lazy cash grab. CIG's specialty
i like how you think the titan looks better.
i dont get the titan just simply because i refuse to have something this ugly.
not even for ingame currency.
but the rambler is crap. total useless shit. downgrade from the cutter that you have to even pay extra on. ridiculous.
it's the cutter DS.
alrdy done XD
