Music: "Midnight Club" - produced by Fredo
    Original # Matching L31 409/400 HP V-8 | 4 Speed Manual W/ Overdrive | Factory Black on Black Car |
The Impala had become a representative of upscale full-size comfort in 1965, continuing to carry forward a legacy of muscle-car like characteristics even as midsize vehicles began to seriously challenge for market share. In 1965, the redesigned version proved so popular that buyers purchased more than one-million examples. That fact does not make these cars common today; many were lost to the gas crunches and sheer wear in the ensuing half-century. Offered here is a 1965 Impala that has been fully refreshed to like-original specifications. Moreover, it was born with the same DNA that had put the model into the popular consciousness: this Impala features its original # Matching L31 409/400 HP Turbo-Fire V-8 engine. The 409 was in production only a few months into the model year before being superseded by the new Mark-series 396, so 1965 was its final-ever year as a passenger car production engine and reportedly only 742 L31 factory installations were made that year. This example utilizes its original 4-barrel carburetor, chrome dual-snorkel air cleaner, and dual flowmaster exhaust, and was backed by a Muncie 4-speed transmission with Gear Venders Overdrive (factory tail shaft included) Where this car truly stands out is in its gorgeous PPG black refinishing with matched black interior layout, creating a muscular all-business vision to match the driveline. Indeed, the car even hosts color-matched steel wheels with dog-dish hubcaps and OEM-design non-descript blackwall tires. The interior is actually quite accommodating, with this car hosting power steering, heater and defroster, tilt steering column, power split bench seat, wood-grain dash trim and AM radio. A chrome factory floor shifter is still used for changing gears and the rear end has a refreshed factory 3.31 posi! The exterior appointments include chrome mirrors, 409 fender emblems, factory-correct T3 headlights and lower body chrome accent panels with wheel moldings. Its important to note that both tachs in the vehicle work and the factory tach has a red line of 7,000! Still possessing a style that helped clarify for many what a full-size 1960s-era Chevrolet performance model should look like, this refreshed Impala awaits an owner who recognizes its raw truth in packaging and the need to pack big cubic inches. This Impala's 409 underwent a complete documented rebuild 1200 miles ago and is ready for the road!

1965 with 409 very rare as the man has stated. They dropped the 2x4 for 65. Around February 65 the 396 came out thus canceling the409

I did not know they still made 409s in 1965. I had a 1965 Impala SS with a 327 350 horse and it was nice. Full power AC, Power Brake, Power Windows, It was yellow with Black Interior and the Bucket Seats. Of Course wish I had it now.

my dad got a 1967, new and similar, but it only had a 327 with an auto. Still, it was fast enough for me to lose my license for 6 months. I was only 17.

I remember when these cars were new. My uncle built an AMT model car of this and gave it a purple/pinkish paint job sitting low in the rear with twin dual swept antennas on the deck lid. I retaliated and built a 66 Buick Wildcat model just to spite him as to who built the coolest lowrider. This was all in the mid 60s I was a kid in elementary school and he was just 10 years older than me.✊😁

Had a '66 Impala Super Sport with a 396. It was great until you had to try to start it in winter in the midwest. Loved the car though

My granddad had a 1965 Impala SS fastback. It didn't have a 409 engine but a 327-inch displacement engine. It was the same shade of dark blue as this car but inside it had bucket seats with a big console in-between. It also had special wheel covers. My dad inherited the car and I used to love driving it. Lots of pep! I noticed this car has unusual options for the time. Power seats but no power windows.

Oshawa, the only plant in Canada building full size Chevy in 1965, had the 409 available the entire production year since the 396 was not made available to them during the 1965 production year

Like you said better than new. Looks laser straight I'm sure it didn't come from the factory that way and the way the panels all line up. Super Sweet!
