XJs look good, sound good, are fun to drive, can lock things inside, stash a mountain bike and gear, they have a nice flat roof perfect for cargo carriers or a tent. Upgrading wheels and suspension travel can smooth the ride somewhat and turn them into mountain goats. They're actually half comfortable, but make wind noise at high speed tho. They're terrific overland adventure units, a nice size, not too big but not too small like shorty TJs which are also great units but bouncy beater uppers that knock the livin' daylights out of you on cross country trips. TJs are a gas at low speed on dirt and also on blacktop roads with an open convertible top, fun in little towns, but they're thrashers on long road trips. I don't like TJ /YJs in big city driving either. XJs can do everything except be convertibles. Nice to have both but to choose one over the other, for me it's the XJ because I like distance capability. I bought a new Cherokee in 96, my Asian GF totalled it way back when (unhurt). I'm looking for another one to sweeten up and mod for overland trippin' around. TKS for making your vids.

If you’re looking for a softer shock out of the two rough country is no doubt the winner, very easy to compress, the fox shocks are stiffer, a lot harder to compress, more of a performance shock, where rough country is better for daily driving, I have both sets of shocks and a 3 inch rough country lift, also I have a 3.5 inch skyjacker lift, both are stiff suspensions, that’s always how xj’s ride, so either suspension you decide to get weather a cheap set up, or more expensive, it ends up being the same relative driving experience, people talk a lot of trash on rough country cause they are cheap and the parts come from china, but honestly rough country has come a long way and makes great products, it’s gonna wear out and need to be replaced in the future why spend so much for no major benefits

The shocks wont do anything by themselves. Your next step should be shackle relocation brackets, and Rubicon Express control arm drop brackets with the drop bracket braces. Thos 2 things will make your Jeep ride better than it ever has and if you wanted too, you could go up to a 6.5 inch lift without affecting the way it rides.

If you don’t like how it rides or if the shock bottoms or tops out complain to rough county! They go out to make you happy and will supply you with the parts that work for your lift kit if you aren’t satisfied with the kit you got. They want you happy...

I sold Lift Kits. He is comparing a entry level roughy country to a FOX at 5X the price lol. Rough country has higher end shocks as well, that will be as good, at a cheaper price point. They also have higher end stuff better.

You had the N2.2 which I never thought were good. The Fox 2.0 are real soft. To soft for highway. Probably good for offroad though. I am hearing the RC new N3 are much better.

The more you lift a Jeep the worse the ride is going to get. You are about maxed out so the ride is going to be much worse. Shocks aren’t gonna change that. It’s physics/geometry.
