There is currently a petition for those who have albinism to have sunscreen be on the WHO essential medicines list. SPF is such a huge necessity and is crucial for those with albinism to prevent skin cancer . Take 2 seconds to sign and thank you so much in advance!💛

I agree 100% ESPECIALLY when people use it in a derogatory manner. Only persons with albinism can understand what other persons with albinism go through…….

I hate the phrase "melanated people" when people refer to Black people, because I feel like it outcasts Black people with albinism. It really irks me because people really don't understand how genetics and race works. Thank you for making this video and educating us all. I definitely learned terminologically how to refer to people better which is really important to me.
I'm autistic and don't like being referred to as a "person with autism" cause I feel like it's just who I am. It's how I was born. I understand that applies differently when it comes to albinism and why now. This was very informative and I love your personality!

I agree with you, Iyana. The word sounds derogatory. To be honest, Ive never understood why Albinism is 'fetishized' or made to be a spectacle. You stand out, yes, for all the right reasons - you're uniquely beautiful, and your strength is in owning it 🙌 as God created you.
People find comfort in conformity, but I have learned, its never worth dimming your light to get along with small-minded people 😌

I’m always quick to correct anybody that is addressing anyone with albinism incorrectly. We have no excuse to be ignorant about these topics anymore. Pointing out someone as “different” shouldn’t even be a thing. WHO is the standard that they’re different from anyway? Literally everyone is different. We are all uniquely made in God’s image. His beauty spans across every single person created. 💛

The Barnum circus have a shady shady past. I learned about George and Willie as a child and have always side eyed Ringling brothers, Barnum, and Bailey circus. There is a call out to George and Willie in the movie Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. There is a circus scene with two young men with dread locks that have albinism looking into the camera. I had watched the movie two times before it registered as to who they were. Question: when a baby is born would the doctors look at their physical attributes to determine if they had albinism or they have to confirm with genetic testing? My favorite part was when you said " I'm old enough to correct you" 😂

    • @IyanaLeShea

Depending on what type of albinism you have genetic testing can take place. There are forms of albinism that can only occur in the eyes while other forms of albinism occur within the hair, skin and eyes.
