I don't doubt that the Switch 2 will sell well, but analysts literally just look at the last generation and base their predictions on that. I remember when analysts said the PSP would crush the DS because Playstation 2 was more popular than Gamecube, or that the original Xbox would fail because Microsoft had never made a console before. Analysts are masters of hindsight.
Agreed, i dont think it will be a wii u, but I dont think it will surpass the original switch. Many of my friends got a switch after not playing games since they used their DS. I dont see them upgrading to a switch 2 tbh. They are completely happy with the original switch
@xshme Its the most predictable situation ever. One area in which Nintendo has been very consistent is their handheld sales. Gameboy was huge. GBA was the same thing but better, sold half. DS was huge. 3ds was same thing but better, sold half. Switch was huge. Switch 2 same thing but better, sells half.
Ratchet and clank, sackboy, spiderman 2, gow ragnarok, horizon forbidden west, asrro bot, helldivers, returnal. Ok admittedly this still isn't alot but at least their are some and their all hits
My prediction is that the successor is going to have a hot launch selling 15-20 million in the first year. However it’s going to be less successful than the Switch 1, selling around 100-120 million total units. Still an impressive generation, but not as successful
Sort of like the DS to 3DS difference in sales - I agree with you, it’ll be enormously successful but not the ‘lightning in a bottle’ moment of the original Switch.
I also predict a lot of people and RUclipsrs especially will see the Switch 2 not being as successful as its predecessor and jump to the completely logical and not at all exaggerated conclusion that Nintendo must be dying and that they fell off + L + Ratio because heavens forbid they only succeed a whopping 0.001% less than they did last time.
@@TheZestyCar I think the Switch successor will barely squeeze out the PS4, unless Sony somehow remembers that the PS4 sold 5 million units that one time
It all depends on the games. Nintendo fumbled the ball on the Wii U and usually their sequel consoles do poorly compared to the smash hit first console. However, if the switch 2 is as powerful as a ps4 that’ll be huge the third party market would actually be relevant to the switch instead of a horrible downgrade most of the time.
I don’t think the launch titles have anything to do with the overall sales of the switch. Sure, it will help if they have 1 or 2 high quality launch titles, but launch titles almost never define a systems overall life
You mean the direct successor to what will soon be the best selling console of all time will be more successful than two consoles with one okay exclusive between them made by companies who have publicly said on multiple occasions that they may leave the console market within the next few years? What a surprise!
lol no companies at all have directly said they will leave the console market 😂 now is it looking like Microsoft may in the future? Yes it’s obvious looking at it, but don’t spread misinformation they haven’t stated they are.
It baffles me seeing so many people bothered by this because it's "boring", I'm all for interesting mechanics but the Wii U was peak "gimmick for gimmick sake" and I hope they never do it again
@@heronoverdose120hz for handheld mode is absolutely in Nintendo's interests (so many Switch games would benefit from 40fps and/or VRR modes) but I suspect 120fps games will make up less than 1% of the games on the platform. For graphics, we will most likely see 1080p in handheld and 1440p/4k in docked, but that both will rely heavily on upscaling via DLSS to compensate for battery life, downclocking and the massive cost of natively rendering 4k in docked mode. We may see quite a few games at 540/720 in handheld internally to achieve 1080p, but the visuals will far surpass Switch 1 even under these circumstances.
Analysts are wrong 90% of the time. This means Switch 2 will bomb. RIP. It's all over. Nintendo going 69th party. Nah, we just don't need analysts to know Nintendo stuff gonna sell like hotcakes when the other two are bumbling around with tech fads and overpriced stuff.
I currently own a switch and series s because xbox runs FPS and 3rd party games much better. If the switch 2 is as good as leaks advertise, my xbox would literally be pointless. Would be cool tononly need 1 console
in this current state of the gaming industry, I hope the best version of Nintendo that we all love has unprecedented success and puts everyone else to shame, rather than going all Scummy on us
2:37 i mean, yeah. The Switch 1 has outsold all other consoles in its generation by quite a lot so... it's pretty safe to project that can continue with an even better backwards-compatible Switch. It's like combining the playbook of the ps2 and the game boy color
Nintendo is the only company that focuses on unique traits for their hardware such as the Switch's portability, the JoyCons, etc. Everyone else is simply racing each other see how quickly they can turn themselves into a PC, but worse. This is why Nintendo + Gaming PC is the only winning formula. Has been for years.
I sure hope so, seems like if they aren't trying to revolutionize everything this time around then they really need a strong launch slate of great games. But since we have no idea what new games are even coming out next year I am a bit worried
I think my biggest worry about the Switch 2 is that there's a bit of a trend across the gaming industry where there's a console that's going really well, leading them to be overconfident and mess up the launch of the next system. Examples include Wii -> WiiU, DS -> 3DS, PS2 -> PS3 and XB360 -> XBONE. I really hope this doesn't happen again, and just because it's happened a bunch of times before doesn't mean it has to happen again
Dude, we're all just hoping they don't go Wii U again. Like, we had the SNES, which ran a console generation, the N64, a strong competitor to the PS1, the GameCube, which people loved(including me), but most people didn't buy, The Wii was a huge win, the Wii U was a flop, Switch was a big win... Just, if Nintendo keeps making good games, maybe makes a truly good Pokemon game, and avoids the Wii U trap, I think Switch 2 is going to be fire.
@@AlriikLives I doubt that a Wii U blunder will ever happen again. Over 90% Switch's install base is active while Wii's install base was practically dead by 2012, which is why Nintendo abandoned the Wii before Wii U even launched.
@@lol-ih1tl We can hope that, but Nintendo won... The Switch Era, the Wii Era, the SNES Era and the NES Era. The N64, GameCube, and Wii U were all failures, and the fact that they let the entire Wii audience drop off was ridiculous. They literally had the world in their hands. I love Nintendo, and I want to see them succeed, but they haven't run two console generations in a row since the '90s.
@AlriikLives technically the N64 and GameCube were not failures because they exceeded the 20 million threshold. In order for a console to be a failure, it must sell less then 20 million units worldwide. This is why they're not uncluded on Wikipedia's commercial failures in video gaming article.
I think Nintendo is aware that they need to keep up the momentum, and not pull another Wii U. Surely they are still hyper aware of their failure, right? At the same time, overconfidence has been hitting both Sony and Microsoft hard these past couple of generations. Nintendo could fall into the same trap. But Nintendo has a bad habit of not following their examples, so hopefully in this case it's a good habit.
Let's just hope the Switch 2 has the stuff it needs to sell. Better enough hardware, enough games to attract everyone (Well functioning Pokemon? Smash? Animal Crossing?), better online infrastructure in general, and a decent price tag. Everyone wants Nintendo to do well. Let's just hope they don't mess it up.
@@lol-ih1tl They got a lot already built up, but this can easily be another flop. No one remembers Mario Kart 8 on Wii U, they remember Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Switch. Just saying.
@@AlriikLives The Wii U had many flaws bit being to close to the Wii was not really one of them. The Gamepad inflating the price, bad advertising and lackluster third party support as well as uninspired first party games were the main issues. Also that the casual crowd switched to mobile phones. In a way the Wii was a fad while the Switch is not. Will Switch 2 top the OG Switch? Likely not but I doubt it will fail. I expect a DS => 3DS type transition
@@sunwukong5518 Nah, if you ask any of my old family members that bought the Wii and Switch, the main issue was knowing the Wii U was just not knowing it was a different system. They thought it was an add on. The marketing was awful, it didn't have enough games, the game pad was great but didn't really add to the experience outside of a few first party games, I'll give you all of that. The Wii U's faults aren't because of the Wii, it's because how Nintendo thought to follow up the Wii. And that's the current worry I think I and many others have had. They can, and have, been better, but there's a non-zero chance that they take all of this momentum and just stall hardcore.
@@sunwukong5518 failed consoles flop in spite of their flaws, not because of them. The two main factors that cause products to flop are the poor marketing and releasing at the wrong time. Wii U could've sold well and still have its flaws.
@@schnek8927 Because I've got a day one Switch and never was unhappy with it. It still works totally fine to this day. The Joy-Cons are a different problem, had a few with drift, but Nintendo repairs those for free, so it's fine too
Consoles are made entirely by their libraries. Consoles that fail are usually the result of difficult hardware that makes the system unappealing to devs resulting in less games. If the Switch 2 is just a beefier Switch it will be a success. If Nintendo forces some dumb gimmick onto developers it will hurt it. I hope if that C button is to cast the screen to the dock for dual screen play its not forced onto devs and they can opt to just make a single screen game. You want as few barriers as possible for devs to port from PS5/PC to Switch 2.
Plus the 3DS was a victim of the rise of smartphones which a Switch successor won't suffer from because the novelty of mobile gaming from the early-2010s wore off ages ago.
The switch 2 seems to not really have any big gimmicks over the regular switch. my personal prediction is that it will sell ok, but not quite as well as the original switch as there will be a good amount of people who are fine with just their regular old switch. Especially people who bought it recently, or the oled. Even if Nintendo puts out some good games I dont know how they are going to get people to want to play those games enough to buy a new system. Like think about the people who just want a smash bros machine, if there's no new smash bros game, why would they buy a switch 2? Maybe some graphics upgrades, but im unsure.
Dude, I was literally on the same exact level of Odyssey before I came home from work to watch this video that's an insane coincedence even right down to talking to the Sphynx to open up for the Wood Kingdom.
My hope is that it's backwards compatible. I really liked how the DS family just kept upgrading and I could still keep all the games I had bought for the older model and I hope Nintendo does the same with the Switch.
The Switch 2 has 2 good things going for it to boost our confidence....no wait, 3 things.... 1 ) we don't want anything crazy different from it. We just want the Switch but better. Fine tuned. It can deliver there easy enough. 2 ) Nintendo has been knocking it out of the park with listening to the market and delivering. 3 ) reverse compatibility. If it launches with all the Switch Library it's set even if it comes with only a few big new games at Launch. Splatoon 3, Metroid Prime 4, Mario Kart 8 plus DLC, Smash Ultimate, the greatest selling Pokémon games any generation has ever churches out.....the chance to play them on a better system, or start playing them if we stalled on purchasing Splatoon 3 and buy them now is a selling point of its own.
Nintendo has increased scaled up games production a lot over the Switch Generation and we've gotten relatively few games the last 3 years considering the size Nintendo has grown to so I think we're getting a lot of games in the first two years of the Switch 2. There are a lot of Nintendo studios that are overdue to realease a game and some of them we haven't heard from in so long that they might have made two games in that time. I honestly think a lot of games are done and just waiting for Nintendo to find a good spot in the release schedule.
I believe that the first two years of Switch 2 will be dry due to increased development costs and Nintendo's development teams not being used to making PS4 quality games. Even though PS4 quality games have been the standard for most developers, Nintendo's development teams have been making games for 7th gen level hardware for over a decade. There was a similar issue when Nintendo did the jump to HD with the Wii U after a decade of using 6th gen hardware.
While no one can actually predict these things, if I had to guess I would say that Switch 2 will sell quite well but won’t reach the success of Switch 1 and there will be some drop off between the two. This will likely be because the Switch was a new and exciting concept when it came out but now it has more competition and people won’t be as “wowed” by a better Switch. Anecdotally, I can say that I have known several people who bought into the Switch hype early on who have completely dropped off the Switch and are much less likely to buy the next system.
Im curious if the avrage library is larger or smaller on the switch compared to the competitors. Know plenty of PS uaer with only a dozen games. But every switch user always have more than 10 games.
The biggest issue with the Wii U was marketing. Many people still dont know that the Wii U wasn't just a controller. A console launch is influenced by the view of the public and the longevity of that view. The best way to influence that view is with good and exciting games. Mostly exciting. The switch was a huge showing from Nintendo, and they handled almost everything right with a huge presentation, great conveyance of what separated it from the competition, and extremely exciting games. The Wii U was on Jimmy Falon and at nursing homes. It also launched without a big genre defining game. The success of the successor to the switch will be dictated by how Nintendo shows off the console, what games launch same day and within the first year, what sets the system apart from the switch (and what remains the same). The biggest factor is a strong start, if they get the presentation right and have 3-4 exciting games with one at launch, then we're golden. If they can sustain that for 2 or 3 years, then thats even better. But the most important aspect will be a strong launch and atleast one extremely exciting game. Mario is a safe bet, but I wouldnt count out that MP4 is cross plat and they will have a story trailer like they've never had before for this game. That would sell the console and lift the franchise to unseen heights. I am betting on it, at least.
You don't need an analyst to figure that out. Appreciation for the Xbox and Playstation platforms are at an all-time low due to insane negligence on the part of Sony and Microsoft. If Nintendo can supply a fairly steady stream of first party titles, I am sure the "Switch 2" will take off while the 'X and '5 rot.
@@QnjtGWonQNqVsbYyzjx4 The only reason Sony and Microsoft were able to enter the market when Sega 'died' was because they were already tech giants. What, do you expect Linux or Apple to make a console, even after people like Google failed?
There are some games that could happen, if the Switch 2 is as strong as we think it is, and there's a high chance these are gonna get ported eventually. They would also massively boost the console's sales: Elden Ring, Armored Core 6, Cyberpunk 2077, Baldur's Gate 3, Black Myth Wukong, Stellar Blade, not to mention other PC games, even multiplayer ones, that were just impossible to port to the current Switch
I think it's no question that the Switch 2 will have a stronger start to sales than the Switch 1, however I think everyone knows that the REAL question comes down to if Nintendo can KEEP that momentum of sales. One of my biggest fears is the *design* of the Switch 2. If the Switch 2 has no clear differences in looks, then how many casuals will understand that it's a different system? I know as gamers we don't "care" about the casuals, but they're the ones that ultimately seperate the Wii from the Wii U. In truth, I think Nintendo will be alright, but I do wonder from time to time if Nintendo truly understood why the Switch succeeded and didn't just somehow wing their way to victory. Keeping a steady flow of new games seems obvious, but I think it's the marketting that I hope they nail.
I think we also need a new central hook for the switch successor. What if causal gamers were adversed to the idea of upgrading? (The hardware difference may not be enough) What if the exclusives don’t work out as expected?
If its comparable to the ps4/ps4pro, I believe it well do extremely well. It'll be cheaper than it's competition and it'll still run thr games that other consoles are making exclusive to their newest system. Like DQ3 Remake is on the Switch, what's stopping it from being on the ps4 other than just trying to get ppl to buy a ps5?
I'm honestly most excited for the new Joycons, _especially_ if they have Hall Effect Joysticks! I was playing the new Mario Party with my sister (and trying to teach a Dolphin how to use Joycons), and it dawned on me how bothersome they can be. The joystick drift, the buttons not feeling the highest quality, the small size, the annoyance of trying to remove them from the docked tablet... in the dark. The new Joycon 2s sound like they're gonna fix all my nitpicks!
Would be really neat it if does sell as well as that, idk the likelihood of anything in terms of actual sales in comparison to the Switch but I definitely could see it doing very very well!
I think one of Nintendo’s best moves was to start releasing between its “competitors” instead of within a few months of them. They get the entire spotlight instead of possibly getting overshadowed by Xbox and PlayStation
It probably will succeed but it's interesting to think of the things that could hinder the sales. Perhaps competition from all the other handhelds that's flooding the market? Or that a new Animal Crossing or Mario Kart won't be released in 2025? Or that a majority will keep playing on the old Switch because it has tons of games already and the new Switch 2 is rather expensive?
I feel like the switch at least has a purpose unlike the other systems. Like PCs can play so many games already, and they can be better than console too. And PCs are more practical. The switch is at least more portable, and has a ton of really good exclusives. Nintendo is way better at handling their IPs, and way less prone to dlc and microtransaction slop (not that they never do that.) So IG as long as they do good exclusives switch 2 will probably do well.
I mean the PS5 and X-Box Series X&S aren't steep competition. All Nintendo needs to do it have a decent enough platform. The bar is set really low. It doesn't even need to be a huge success like the Switch and it'll win by default. Seriously, outside of Nintendo, this entire generation has been a joke.
What? I like Nintendo as much as anyone, but none of the games I put significant time into this year were on Switch. They actually made a lot of underwhelming games that only sold well because of the IP
@sleepy_shivers Like I said, Nintendo has good IPs. Totk and wonder were very underwhelming and nothing better has come since. Games being multiplatform shouldn’t matter when there are better titles elsewhere. I’d sink more time into OSRS and finish PoE 2 before I even consider these half-hearted games propelled by the strength of their IP
@@michaelthomas6280 TotK I can understand as reception to it is very mixed. Wonder was a good game though? Like most people I know think it's the best new 2D Mario since before they milked the NSMB games.
If the switch 2 can play switch games but with higher quality, it’ll at least be an upgrade for a good console, but I have to wonder what exclusives it’ll have.
I think it was probably ready to launch this year, but they held back and waited until next year when they’ll have a lot of games ready to launch with it and throughout the year because good games are what sells systems. With that strategy in mind, they probably will do very well and not have another slump generation like with the Wii U.
To be honest, my excitement is dropping. I really wish they will present the switch 2 in a new and creative way because if it's just a more powerful switch, that looks the same, is presented the same and functions the same, I will kind of be let down if that's all for a next generation
The future of gaming devices is ABSOLUTELY hybrid Switch-style devices. The rise of the Switch, the Steam Deck, the PS Portal, etc all point to this. Consumers seem to care about that more than raw horsepower. It also helps that compute power’s capacity for delivering graphical improvements is leveling off. Even Mark Cerny said as much recently; the biggest upgrades in game technology will come from Machine Learning upscaling and raytracing. The Switch 2 will likely launch with the best ML software and hardware in the industry. That could be a staggering sea change.
Also at what point to the mainstream developers and publishers stop trying to chase after the core market on PS5/PS6 and mostly develop for the Switch 1 and 2 as their primary development target? I suspect we could see a future where the focal point is actually the Switch 2 and other platforms get prettier but largely similar ports, rather than the Switch’s history of “impossible” downgraded ports of current-gen software. At some point, it just doesn’t make sense to keep chasing after a smaller user base that doesn’t ever seem to grow. The dedicated non-hybrid console market is shrinking, not growing.
i don't think so, they have their niche, but nintendo has crappy hardware and the competition are basically laptops in a handheld form which comes with gaming laptop prices. there's still a huge demand for traditional consoles loss leading with decent hardware that plug into your tv.
I've fallen out with Nintendo for a variety of reasons, but considering they implement gimmicks to their full effect most times in both hardware and software, they're decently consistent in getting attention. While Microsoft and Sony fight for pretty graphics at ugly prices and trying to sell you on a media center, Nintendo was left for a long time to build a trench in the handheld gaming market. At this point the hardest gimmick to beat is the ability to use a console both home and on the go. At this point, a shake up in the industry that I could imagine Sony and Microsoft yanking their collars at is if Valve actually stepped into the home console gaming market. The steam deck's a thing of course but boy could you imagine? Multiple huge game sales every year, free online multiplayer, and an insanely vast library of titles available with decent refund policies. Oh to relish in those two companies anger.
With the Switch 2 being backwards compatible, as long as the price is ok then it'll be the clear purchase for people looking into Nintendo. That plus the incredibly likely performance uplift in key Switch games causing existing owners to upgrade just because they can means high initial sales. The long term is determined by the library. The PS5 still struggles to justify itself over the PS4.
I bought the switch a week ago and I actually like it despite the hardware, but if switch 2 comes with a better than steam deck, I would consider. The only issue is how expensive the exclusive games prices are.
I might wait to see if they do a second version of the system like they did the first switch. The only thing i missed out on was a switch i could hack. But I don't really need that. I bought my oled and im happy with it.
If they can make a system like switch with ps4 quality, they can basically rest on their laurels. The gap between ps4 games and ps5 games is so insignificant graphically that most people would fail to figure out which system a game belongs to just by looking at it. They basically wouldn't need to rush with a new system if they don't want some more bells and whistles. Sure, games are not photorealistic yet, but I wonder if that will ever happen besides perhaps a very niche project since the development time and cost would be too significant (and the cost and time is already on the edge for developers)
Also the hardcore fans have surely grown through the switch so there will be more guaranteed sales without having to win casuals over. But if course the sales that dictate success most are those harder to obtain sales. I think the biggest problem will be convincing people they need another Switch even if it is better and new when they have the old one.
If the rumors about portable consoles from Sony and MS are true, they'll be competing with Nintendo directly for the first time since the GC. I don't see that going well for Sony or MS. The diminishing returns of graphical fidelity will be put in really harsh relief when they're working with portables. Portable development would also affect how they all make games. Maybe Sony will start making rad games again...
asus and valve already have viable handhelds. the question is more so how much they will loss lead on the hardware and if they will throttle the battery to downclock the software in handheld. sony and microsoft could reasonably put out handhelds that do 1080p 60 fps with batteries that last 5 or so hours without throttling.
Hey Arlo, in case you didn't see it in the predictions video comment section, PLAYDEAD DOESN'T EXIST ANYMORE. Not trying to hurt your feelings, just catching you up to speed. Cocoon is very good and the spiritual successor to those games imo.
I mean realistically speaking the switch is the only console that brings anything uniquely valuable to the table, it's portable, it's dockable, if it can play games within an acceptable range of quality comparable to the other consoles then it's an obvious choice, weather or not it'll keep up is yet to be seen though, also the steamdeck is a thing now.
Now I will say this before even watching: there were huge sales predictions for the Wii sequel. These guys really only know as much as you or me, it could go completely differently.
I honestly can't see the Switch 2 selling nearly as much as the Switch will. And that's fine, it could still get above 50mil sales, but I predict the Switch will continue selling for several more years, eclipsing the ever growing numbers of the PS2
Agreed Switch will likely have broken PS2's alleged 160 Million record next year, although I expect Sony to rerelease PS2 to try to hold onto their record. I can see Switch possibly getting to 200 Million units sold by 2032. As for Switch 2 it will come into a much more hostile economy if it releases next year & would be lucky to have 60% of the Switch Sales.
They’re still putting out games that play on ps4 and Xbox One so I wouldn’t worry about the ps5 and series x being phased out anytime soon and supposedly the next gen switch
Not to be a hater, it's not Nintendo's fault, but Switch 2 is going to tank because of the economy. Stock buybacks, massive layoffs and greedflation may have large corporations raking in unprecedented profits, but that's not a robust economy, that's just an illusion. Consumers have less and less purchasing power every day than ever before. It they're launching right at the height of the next administration where America is going to be squeezed financially from every direction like a tube of toothpaste, they're just not going to have the disposable income available to upgrade, especially when the Switch still has a massive library and functions just fine - even without a dedicated C button.
The Switch 2 will need to be really compelling right out of the gate. Most don't realize it yet, but most of us in the US are gonna have a really hard time in Q1. It might be difficult for most to justify the expense.

However, if the switch 2 is as powerful as a ps4 that’ll be huge the third party market would actually be relevant to the switch instead of a horrible downgrade most of the time.
In the famous words of Mark Twain: History doesn't repeat itself, but it often rhymes
Any prediction about how the Switch 2 will do is meaningless until we know what the launch titles are. Games sell systems.
I don’t think the launch titles have anything to do with the overall sales of the switch. Sure, it will help if they have 1 or 2 high quality launch titles, but launch titles almost never define a systems overall life
Switch 2 can still sell well even with a terrible launch. Most first party Nintendo launch titles are glorified tech demos after all.
@@samplautz5586 I mean, does anyone remember 1-2-Switch?
You mean the direct successor to what will soon be the best selling console of all time will be more successful than two consoles with one okay exclusive between them made by companies who have publicly said on multiple occasions that they may leave the console market within the next few years? What a surprise!
I mean, Nintendo was in this same spot when the Wii U happened...
lol no companies at all have directly said they will leave the console market 😂 now is it looking like Microsoft may in the future? Yes it’s obvious looking at it, but don’t spread misinformation they haven’t stated they are.
A new Switch with (somewhat) current gen horse power? It's a no brainer.
It will not, don't get your hopes up
dunno about current gen lol
It baffles me seeing so many people bothered by this because it's "boring", I'm all for interesting mechanics but the Wii U was peak "gimmick for gimmick sake" and I hope they never do it again
As long as it’s not 720p I’ll be happy but won’t hold my breath for 120fps or the sort
When I see an Arlo video drop, I already know I gotta let it play in my ear while I walk around my house picking stuff up
ooh picking stuff up is tight!
in this current state of the gaming industry, I hope the best version of Nintendo that we all love has unprecedented success and puts everyone else to shame, rather than going all Scummy on us
Literally, just give us games, avoid the scummy practices you avoid, give us the IPs you are hoarding, and Nintendo, you got a surefire winner.
And Arlo will be healthier and less problems next year according to analysts(me)
His immune system will improve 500%, he will spend more time in the sun, drink more orange juice, and have a good time (according to me).
Somehow I doubt the accuracy of predictions for a console that hasnt eveb been revealed yet.
2:37 i mean, yeah. The Switch 1 has outsold all other consoles in its generation by quite a lot so... it's pretty safe to project that can continue with an even better backwards-compatible Switch. It's like combining the playbook of the ps2 and the game boy color
I experienced my first Arlo carol yesterday. 10/10 would recommend, put me in the holiday spirit.
Analysts said the same about the Wii U at the time and we all know how that turned out
Me, with my Nintendo stock: _Stonks_
Nintendo is the only company that focuses on unique traits for their hardware such as the Switch's portability, the JoyCons, etc. Everyone else is simply racing each other see how quickly they can turn themselves into a PC, but worse.
This is why Nintendo + Gaming PC is the only winning formula. Has been for years.
I sure hope so, seems like if they aren't trying to revolutionize everything this time around then they really need a strong launch slate of great games. But since we have no idea what new games are even coming out next year I am a bit worried
Based on leaks we know we are getting Mario Kart 9. That alone is a system seller.
MK 10 and new 3D Mario
Boom system sellers
@@Matanumi hopefully a new Animal Crossing too
I think my biggest worry about the Switch 2 is that there's a bit of a trend across the gaming industry where there's a console that's going really well, leading them to be overconfident and mess up the launch of the next system.
@@lol-ih1tl I mean, you can say that, but if you compare it to the other consoles at the time, they lost. Hard.
Christmas is over...now the real hype begins. I've never felt more confident in Nintendo going into a new generation than I am right now.
Who asked the 14 yo gay furry 💀
Let's just hope the Switch 2 has the stuff it needs to sell. Better enough hardware, enough games to attract everyone (Well functioning Pokemon? Smash? Animal Crossing?), better online infrastructure in general, and a decent price tag. Everyone wants Nintendo to do well. Let's just hope they don't mess it up.
@@AlriikLives its sales numbers will be carried by Mario Kart holiday bundles, just like most other Nintendo consoles.
@@lol-ih1tl They got a lot already built up, but this can easily be another flop. No one remembers Mario Kart 8 on Wii U, they remember Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Switch. Just saying.
@AlriikLives Switch 2 will be able to putsell the N64, GameCube and Wii U even in a worst case scenario.
*make games*
*win*
It's that simple.
It always felt so weird for me how sure they were about the success when we don't have any game announced
I can’t believe the analysts think the current market leader is going to continue to be the current market leader again!!!
If it ain't broken...
Why, though? Nintendo was in this same position after the Wii. We all know what happened next.
We don't know anything about it yet. Predictions like this are pretty pointless, just wait and see what happens
Its obvious
I'm excited because this is going to be the first real new nintendo hardware offering since their explosive success
The youtuber "nintendo forecast" is really great for such topics IMHO. Nintendo did a lot of work behind the scenes to become more solid as a company.
New 3D Mario and new Donkey Kong game and I am sold
I'm very hyped. Already putting a bit of money away every month, to hopefully have enough on release
You probably will. Nintendo isn't Sony, they're not gonna release a $700 system, or even a $600 system. Even $500 seems a bit unlikely.
Most leaks and prediction say it will be 400$ or at most 450. I too am saving up money so I think I will be good to buy it.
Why on earth would you but a switch 2 after the horrendous quality of the first one…?
I'm going to get one, too!
The final countdown! Gonna be staring at my notifications waiting for these videos.
If the next console is mostly just an upgrade, I think It'll have a hard time reaching the Switch's numbers but its all gonna come down to the games.
I really enjoy your way of speaking. It feels musical or something it’s so pleasant.
Analysts be like "this bullet that's traveling at 700m/s towards someone will kill them"
I really think it's gonna be a 3Ds situation but maybe a bit better because the die hard base is bigger now
Plus the 3DS was a victim of the rise of smartphones which a Switch successor won't suffer from because the novelty of mobile gaming from the early-2010s wore off ages ago.
Yeah, and that's because of the secret recipe of actually having games, unlike the competition. Being more supportive of physical media also helps.
Can't wait for rumors of Switch 2 Pro every year
Trusted Bloomberg journalist reports that the Switch 2 Pro will be launching in 2023 and will be as powerful as a playstation 7
It's been already confirmed to be backwards compatible.
Probably larger on the Switch I’d imagine. Like on Steam, this ecosystem seems to value short/indie games more highly than over on MS/Sony’s boxes.
While there have been the case, what if this generation becomes a dead one with no success? Or if there is a new competition getting the throne?
A new Mario Kart and the next two Pokémon generations will carry Switch 2's sales, especially during holiday seasons.
Or that a majority will keep playing on the old Switch because it has tons of games already and the new Switch 2 is rather expensive?
not to be off topic, but what is that BGM that Arlo uses here, it sounds familar.
very surfer music.
Wood Kingdom from Mario Odyssey
As someone who actually owns Nintendo Shares let me tell you that there are few professions more worthless then that of an analyst
I want a 3D Mario please. Odyssey 2 actually.
I feel like the switch at least has a purpose unlike the other systems.
Like PCs can play so many games already, and they can be better than console too. And PCs are more practical.
The switch is at least more portable, and has a ton of really good exclusives. Nintendo is way better at handling their IPs, and way less prone to dlc and microtransaction slop (not that they never do that.)
So IG as long as they do good exclusives switch 2 will probably do well.
9th Gen has been the worst Gen.
The death of the console is near
@sleepy_shivers Like I said, Nintendo has good IPs. Totk and wonder were very underwhelming and nothing better has come since. Games being multiplatform shouldn’t matter when there are better titles elsewhere. I’d sink more time into OSRS and finish PoE 2 before I even consider these half-hearted games propelled by the strength of their IP
@@Matanumi LMFAO in ur dreams

What is this business strategy called?
These aren't even real analysts, if you can even call someone that. It's just some guys with a website who make "reports" every couple of months.
If the switch 2 can play switch games but with higher quality, it’ll at least be an upgrade for a good console, but I have to wonder what exclusives it’ll have.
I don't think that backwards compatibility would be a big selling point. Most people will buy Switch 2 for the new games.
If it had been Pachter predicting this, I'd have taken it as a kiss of death.
I think it was probably ready to launch this year, but they held back and waited until next year when they’ll have a lot of games ready to launch with it and throughout the year because good games are what sells systems. With that strategy in mind, they probably will do very well and not have another slump generation like with the Wii U.
I bet they also predict that Air and Water will still sell going into the next financial quarter
I can predict the future. Theyre gonna rerelease Mario kart 8 for the 15th time
So much of the Switch 2 has been leaked that by the time Nintendo reveals the thing, we'll already know everything
Switch 2- You know Animal Crossing, Smash, and Mario are coming.
"Yes" from my bird
With the Switch 2 being backwards compatible, as long as the price is ok then it'll be the clear purchase for people looking into Nintendo. That plus the incredibly likely performance uplift in key Switch games causing existing owners to upgrade just because they can means high initial sales. The long term is determined by the library. The PS5 still struggles to justify itself over the PS4.
It really comes down to price of it. If it comes too close to those portable PC consoles it will be tough for switch 2 to become a clear winner
Analysts always make such predictions as a way to increase the value their firms invested into said gaming companies
I have to ponder if it's bad news.
I think it might not actually do as well as the Switch. It depends on if Pokémon can sort out gen 10 and 11 for me.
Backlogged games is very powerful, so if someone wants to just buy a collection and get a new switch then they can.
Bro all they need to do is give it games and it will be better than the other two
If they can make a system like switch with ps4 quality, they can basically rest on their laurels. The gap between ps4 games and ps5 games is so insignificant graphically that most people would fail to figure out which system a game belongs to just by looking at it. They basically wouldn't need to rush with a new system if they don't want some more bells and whistles.
Sure, games are not photorealistic yet, but I wonder if that will ever happen besides perhaps a very niche project since the development time and cost would be too significant (and the cost and time is already on the edge for developers)
nintendo throttles games in handheld though which is a concern. will the switch 2 be able to play games at a stable 60fps is a great question.
I hope that we will see Star Wars Jedi Survivor on switch 2 that is one of my big wishes
Another great video to feed my hunger for more switch 2 news haha
I hope Nintendo doesn’t make the Switch 1 version obsolete, but also can play with Switch 2 players.
Hey Arlo, in case you didn't see it in the predictions video comment section, PLAYDEAD DOESN'T EXIST ANYMORE. Not trying to hurt your feelings, just catching you up to speed. Cocoon is very good and the spiritual successor to those games imo.
One word. “ Games”.
I’ve had a difficult time for the last 16 quarters.
