I’m a lady with a 5 1/2 inch wrist and love wearing my black seiko 5 gmt! Sabrina can totally rock it if she wanted to :) I’m all for paperless manuals since it doesn’t take up space and become clutter in the future. Thanks for a great review, enjoyed listening to the both of you discuss.

I got the SSK001 last week, really impressed by it. Love the bezel and how the slightest change in light can totally change how it looks. I think Seiko has a home run in these watches.

Spencer... Sabrina... you did a great unboxing and analysis of these two new SSKs. And the throw back to the OG SKXs. Really, no other 'youtoobers' are going to explore the elements you guys do. And I like that it's the two of you, and your humour. 👏👏

Thank you Spencer, and Mrs Klein, for a very in depth review/unboxing.
You have revealed a lot of nuances on the GMTs, and after this I bet if I get one I won't need a manual.
I really like the Blue SSK003, the bracelet is nice to be solid but the unidirectional bezel?
I am with you on the screw down crown but I also am not a fan of the glass case back, I'm sometimes rough on my watches and do dive with them, they are classy cool mechanisms and dressy tools.
The black and blue bezel is also a nice touch!
    I am watching..........for part 2!

Fascinating comparison between the apparent size of the 003 vs the 005 next to the Willard. What a difference the color makes. Very disapointing they didn't make it a threaded crown.

Is it the rarest? Can't be rarer than the SKX401! But if it is, I'd love to know that.

Wow, I'd never paid attention much to the way reflections and light look on a watch/bezel in so much detail (bezel filters). A really interesting feature that not many people talk about.

    • @SpencerKleinVintageWatch
      @SpencerKleinVintageWatch  2 года назад

I've never seen this before, so no one has seen it. I think I'm wrong though - it's not a polarization filter, it is the reflectiveness of the under-layer. Matte 9-3, reflective 3-9.

Great unboxing video Spencer and I really enjoyed Sabrina’s input as well! I do like both watches and I get that with a display back the watch must be rated at less meters. I am a huge fan of display backs and these days never dive deeper than a shower but still would like to see a screw down crown.

    • @SpencerKleinVintageWatch

It turns out that everything will fit into an SKX case except the crystal height. Looks like Seiko just added some internal height to make space for the taller handstack.

My sarf011 gmt hand doesn't move like that. So I can never figure out how to set it. My 24hr bezel is fixed in one position 18 at the 9 o'clock position, 6 at the 3 o'clock position. The SSK is probably a more useful watch. I think it would look amazing with the Marine Master handset, just my opinion. In my mind at least. I'm a set it and forget guy though.

I have just bought a vintage Sicura Submarine 17 jewel 400m divers watch from Italy and I can't wait to get it although I have 3 Seiko diver watches and love them I sort of feel a bit guilty for going against my love for Seiko's and my collection of them, (does that make any sense?).I am also waiting on a 1965 Glycine Compressor lol. I would perhaps buy it for 175.00 but not for 490.00. After all, the missing screwdown crown would annoy the crap out of me, so I'd have to purchase a new skx case with lug holes,, one with a screw down crown and migrate all the stuff into the new case and find a crown with circular brushing...and this is just to remove the downgrades, not mentioning the lack of decent steel caseback and classic nicely anodized aluminum GMT bezel insert.... other then this, I like it.

They are pretty enough but without a screw in crown they just feel like imposters to me. If I really wanted a dive type Seiko GMT on my wrist the SUN Kinetic diver would be my choice. Now if they only had put some grown up hands on it, and no big blobs as indicators, that blue watch would have looked very nice, why the childish big hands and blobs??? It makes you look cheap like Disney World or McDonald, loud childish colours and loud childish shapes.. And that ring...what did it do again? what is its use? Check out the Zeppelin watch, German brand... for nice hands and indicators..

    • @SpencerKleinVintageWatch

They're standard SKX hands. The dial layout is the same one first seen in the 7548s - Seiko has been using it since the 1970s - and it's the same layout down to the sizes as the SKX 007 etc. There's really nothing groundbreaking at all about the dial and hands.

Yup, same as it ever was, for the fifteen years we've been making videos. And we will stay the same. That is why I have the big disclaimer about our low-fi production in the description field. If it bothers you so much you have to comment, stop watching. If you're just looking to criticize others who actually do things so you can feel better about yourself, I'll simply hide you from the channel. I am who I am, never wanted to become famous or to be any kind of "personality". I started making these videos just for the individual watch owners, not for casual strangers who dip in, give unasked-for notes, and leave. A waste of my time. but the demand for content has grown over the many years we've been doing this so we do what we can, within limits. I'm not going to pretend I'm anyone other than who I am. Taking time to polish up videos is literally a waste of time for me. We make basically zero real money from RUclips. All this work we have to put into these videos is non-revenue work, AND it takes away from actual customer work - the stuff that people want and what we need to pay the bills. But despite that, we still make videos because people enjoy watching them. Except for people like you, where free isn't good enough because you're just that entitled.
